A Google spokeswoman said the company did not yet know how the ads had got through its approval process, which uses a combination of automated and manual review. “We have strict policies in place to protect users from false information about voting procedures, and when we find ads that violate our policies and present harm to users, we remove them and block advertisers from running similar ads in the future,” the spokeswoman said. “Some people may find it difficult to distinguish Google ads from other kinds of content because as of January, search ads on Google feature the same type face and color scheme as organic search results,” the TTP report said. Social media companies and online platforms, including Facebook Inc (FB.O) and Twitter (TWTR.N) are under pressure to curb misinformation on their sites in the run-up to the US presidential election in November.

Tech giant Twitter has once again flagged a tweet by President Donald Trump, with the social network warning that it contained ''manipulated media'' designed to mislead people. The tweet showed a video with a CNN-style chyron that read “Terrified Todler Runs From Racist Baby,” created by an account describing itself as a “memesmith.” It showed two children, one Black and one White, on a sidewalk. pic.twitter.com/vnRpk0zl5y — Donald J. More than his inventions and initiatives, Tesla and SpaceX CEO is also widely known for his tweets. From cryptic messages to jokes to important information, Musk has tweeted about almost everything. To make sure those tweets stay in our memories forever, an artist has turned Elon Musk's tweets into illustration and has compiled those illustrations into a colouring book. A Colorado-based artist Salina Gomez, aka Ill Ink, has released a colouring book titled The Illuminated Tweets of Elon Musk. I did study color in college, and I did quite well in the course, but you’d never know it looking at how I colorize things. Seems I’m unable to escape the carnival in my head, which is my default color palette. I should probably do a series of illustrations with “mature” color, just to show that I actually can. This, Salina feels, will help the audience understand the changes in Musk’s vision and development. “Musk’s Twitter feed, once I had found it, brought me a lot of joy,” Gomez wrote on her Kickstarter page. “I decided to take on the role of a gonzo editorial cartoonist reading the Musk Twitter Headlines, subjectively interpreting them in a whimsical, positive manner, all the while immersing myself in the Twitterverse experience.” View this post on Instagram Looking back on the beginning of the coloring book project years ago. Not only was Elon Musk the perfect person to focus the project’s energy on, I wouldn’t have even come up with the project if it weren’t for him. <p>Photo-sharing app Instagram is set to overtake Twitter as a news source, research suggests.</p>

<p>The 2020 Reuters Institute Digital News report found the use of Instagram for news had doubled since 2018.</p>

<p>The trend is strongest among young people. Nearly a quarter of 18 to 24-year-olds used Instagram as a source of news about coronavirus as per the research. But social media platforms were also among the least-trusted sources.</p>

<p>Just 26 per cent&nbsp;of people said they trusted social media as a source of information about the virus. A similar percentage said they trusted news that had been shared via chat apps such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.</p>

<p>National governments and news organisations, by contrast, were both trusted by about 59 per cent&nbsp;of respondents.</p>

<p>Instagram is now used by more than a third of all people who answered the survey, and two-thirds of under-25s. And 11&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;use it for news, putting it just one point behind Twitter.</p>

<p>Only 38&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of people said they trusted the news most of the time. Less than half - 46 per cent&nbsp;- said they trusted their favoured news source.</p>

<p>In total, 40 countries were surveyed. Only in six of them did a majority say they could trust "most of the news most of the time".</p>

<p>The case was particularly poor in the UK, where only 28&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of respondents backed the statement. That figure was 12 percentage points lower than the nation's response in the 2019 report.</p>

<p>That plummet in confidence was only matched by Chile and Hong Kong, which have both seen violent street protests - and still rank more highly than the UK, on 30&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;each.</p>

<p>But things changed substantially once the coronavirus crisis hit.</p>

<p>A slightly differently worded question in April - about the level of trust in information about the coronavirus - saw news organisations surge to a 59&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;trust rating, on a par with national governments.</p>

<p>The report's authors speculate the identical levels of trust as a result of news organisations amplifying public health advice.</p>

<p>But that sudden high has already started to fall.</p>

<p>"What we're seeing is relatively high levels of trust - at the time of the lockdowns - in the media and national governments. But we have some polling since then, which shows that trust in the media fell 11 percentage points between April and May," Newman said.</p>

<p>While not officially part of the report, that recent polling suggests that the "moment of national unity" may have passed.</p>

<p>Amid all this analysis of trust issues, most people - what the report calls the "silent majority" - prefer what they consider "objective" news.</p>

<p>The authors of the report had not asked this question since 2013, since when the use of opinion and open stances on news reporting has grown.</p>

<p>In nine countries where this was explored, all said they preferred news from sources with "no point of view".</p>

<p>The strongest preference was in Germany, Japan, the UK and Denmark. These are "all countries with strong and independent public broadcasters", the report noted.</p>

Instagram will overtake Twitter as source of news: Study

<p>An AirAsia pilot,&nbsp;fitness blogger and a digital influencer, Gaurav Taneja, has been suspended from the airlines following a controversial video that the pilot posted on his&nbsp;YouTube channel - Flying Beast.</p>

<p>Gaurav Taneja was an&nbsp;an Airbus A320 captain with AirAsia India. In his vlog posted on June 14, he alleged the airline of&nbsp;violating several safety protocols and&nbsp;endangering lives of passengers on board.</p>

<p>His main allegation about&nbsp;the company is that Air Asia India does not allow the employees to take sick leaves and does not follow proper security protocols, among other allegations.</p>

<p>He claimed that the company made him work on his off days when he claimed his sick leave. He further explained how the top management of the airlines got involved and complained about his rare sick leave request.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Captain was asked to undergo&nbsp;lifestyle counselling and medical tests again, which Gaurav claims was a trial at tainting his reputation.</p>

<p>"When I started protesting against this, the chief of flight safety said in an email that I report sick and fatigue frequently. They (management) also suggested undergoing lifestyle counselling and medical," Taneja said in his video.</p>

<p>In his video, he gave a detailed explanation with dates of how the events unfurled. From March to June, he talked about various points where the airlines have ignored the health and safety guidelines onboard. He even mentioned his efforts of raising the issue on&nbsp;22-23 March for about 40 minutes as safety-related guidelines were not being followed by the airline.</p>

<p>He claimed he raised the issue with higher authorities, but there was no response from the company. Fearing the lack of safety, he decided to not fly on March 24.</p>

<p>On 4 May, I was shown a show cause notice which stated that the company incurred losses because of my actions. It was clear administration issues were labelled on me. It was clear that they are unhappy with me for pointing out safety lapses," he said.</p>

His main allegation about the company is that Air Asia India does not allow the employees to take sick leaves and does not follow proper security protocols, among other allegations. × He claimed that the company made him work on his off days when he claimed his sick leave. He further explained how the top management of the airlines got involved and complained about his rare sick leave request. The Captain was asked to undergo lifestyle counselling and medical tests again, which Gaurav claims was a trial at tainting his reputation. "When I started protesting against this, the chief of flight safety said in an email that I report sick and fatigue frequently. They (management) also suggested undergoing lifestyle counselling and medical," Taneja said in his video. In his video, he gave a detailed explanation with dates of how the events unfurled. From March to June, he talked about various points where the airlines have ignored the health and safety guidelines onboard. He even mentioned his efforts of raising the issue on 22-23 March for about 40 minutes as safety-related guidelines were not being followed by the airline. He claimed he raised the issue with higher authorities, but there was no response from the company. Fearing the lack of safety, he decided to not fly on March 24. On 4 May, I was shown a show cause notice which stated that the company incurred losses because of my actions. It was clear administration issues were labelled on me. It was clear that they are unhappy with me for pointing out safety lapses," he said. Today I have been officially suspended from @AirAsiaIndian for standing up for safe operations of an aircraft and its passengers.@AwakenIndia #SabkeLiye — Gaurav Taneja (@flyingbeast320) June 14, 2020 × The pilot had been hinting about his revelations in his recent tweets where he claimed that there was a specific reason behind the surge of articles related to Air Asia India's safety procedures. Following that, he was suspended from his job, and he later posted the video explaining the reasons behind his suspension. He claims his contract with the airlines has been brought under the scanner by using the excuse of post-COVID budget cuts. However, the real reason, he claims, is that he dared to stand against the company and the lack of safety protocols.
