Washington's funding is scheduled to expire Saturday at midnight, and no one knows what will happen next. However, top U.S. Senate democrat chuck schumer said they are set to clear way for a stopgap bill and avert a shutdown. Blocking the bill would have required the support of at least 41 of Schumer's democrats. This would have triggered a partial shutdown, which democrats have long opposed as needless chaos. While government shutdown deadlines, and even complete shutdowns, are nothing new for Washington, this time it's different. The funding deadline comes as doge cuts continue to disrupt government services. Watch in for more details!

US President Donald Trump may soon invoke the Alien Enemies Act, an obscure federal law to speed up his mass deportation plans of certain groups of immigrants, CNN reported citing four sources familiar with the matter.&nbsp;
The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 allows the US president to target and remove undocumented immigrants, though legal experts have argued it would face a battle in the court.&nbsp;
Trump during his presidential campaign last year proposed to use the law. Later as he took office in January, Trump prioritised mass crackdown on illegal immigrants.

The primary target of Trump remains Tren de Aragua (TDA), a Venezuelan organised crime group that is now operating in the US as well as other nations.&nbsp;

However, the Alien Enemies Act is designed to be invoked if the US is at war with a country or if a foreign nation has invaded the US or threatened to do so.&nbsp;
However, this has not been the case. According to legal experts, it would be difficult for Trump to use the act when the US isn't being attacked by a foreign government.&nbsp;
Till date, the Alien Enemies Act has been invoked three times in US history and all during wars, according to the Brennan Center.

<h2>Closed-door UNSC meeting</h2>
Iran&rsquo;s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that a closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council has been requested, "which is a completely new procedure and surprising, and questions the goodwill of the countries requesting this meeting."
The meeting had been requested by France, Greece, Panama, South Korea, Britain, and the US as Tehran's nuclear programme edges close to weapons-grade uranium.
"We have always been ready to negotiate on the nuclear issue from an equal position, and we have also negotiated on the JCPOA, and negotiations are ongoing," Araghchi added.

<h2>'Something going to happen very soon'</h2>
Moreover, after revealing the letter, Trump also said that action against Iran could be imminent, suggesting that "something is going to happen very soon."
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, "There will be some interesting days ahead, that's all I can tell you." He did not provide specific details.
"We&rsquo;re down to final strokes with Iran. That&rsquo;s going to be an interesting time, and we&rsquo;ll see what happens," he said.
Repeating his stance on Iran&rsquo;s nuclear ambitions, Trump added, "We&rsquo;re down to final moments. We&rsquo;re at the final moments. We can&rsquo;t let them have a nuclear weapon."

Iran has received the letter given by US President Donald Trump by Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that an Arab intermediary will deliver Trump's letter to Tehran. The letter was given to Gargash by Trump’s Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff, who was in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Axios reported.
