Bernie's granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, told Fox News it was great that he had found a companion "to do activities and spend time with". She said they were "so lucky to have found each other" because they supported each other throughout the Covid pandemic. Writing on Facebook, Sarah had said earlier this month: "Next week my 100-year-old grandfather is marrying his 102-year-old girlfriend!" "This unique celebration, marking a century of memories and more, promises to be an unforgettable day filled with love, laughter, and a testament to timeless affection. Mazal tov!" Bernie was previously married to Bernice for 65 years, who passed away in 2012. A few years later, he met Marjorie at a costume party and the pair ended up having their first date on the same day his great-granddaughter was born, Fox News reported. His family said that the plans to marry Marjorie had been a "surprise" as they "assumed they would just live out their days status quo". But the duo chose marital bliss instead.
What happens when you read? Do you hear a voice in your head speaking out the words to you as you comprehend their meaning while immersing yourself in a good book or article online?

Chances are you probably do experience as if you were literally being read by some miniature being inside your brain. That voice, now has a name. The "inner reading voice" or the IRV.

Your IRV would be different than mine. As they say, reading is a deeply personal act of consuming information, the one that requires some active focus unlike the sometime passive nature of consuming information by watching the content.

Florida, over the years, has become synonymous with the weird antics of its residents. In the latest peculiar news stories from the US state: A priest has been accused of biting a woman.

Why did the priest bite the woman?

The priest, as per CNN, has been identified as Father Fidel Rodriguez. Reportedly, the priest while giving out Communion during a mass in St. Cloud city bit the woman while 'defending' the Communion bread.

Father Rodriguez, according to the police, initially refused to give the woman Communion bread on May 19. Instead, he told her, "she did not do the prior steps necessary" to receive the Communion.

He "advised her to receive the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) before coming back to receive Holy Communion (Eucharist)", said the Diocese of Orlando in a statement.

However, as per the statement from the Diocese, the priest asked her if she "had been to the Sacrament of Penance (Confession), to which she stated it was not his business."

Upon this, the woman told the police, he (the priest) "became upset and tried to ram the 'cookie' in her mouth".

She then tried to grab another Communion bread, but the priest grabbed her and bit her arm.

The diocese contends that "Father Rodriguez offered the woman Holy Communion on the tongue. At that point, the woman forcefully placed her hand in the vessel and grabbed some sacred Communion hosts, crushing them."

"Having only one hand free, Father Rodriguez struggled to restrain the woman as she refused to let go of the hosts. When the woman pushed him and reacting to a perceived act of aggression, Father Rodriguez bit her hand so she would let go of the hosts she grabbed," it adds.

A newly discovered species named Militocodon lydae, which is said to be around the size of a rat and weighs up to 455 grammes, walked the Earth just after the extinction of the dinosaurs and is part of a group of animals that gave rise to all modern hoofed mammals, including deer, cows and pigs, according to a recently published study.

According to the study published in the Journal of Mammalian Evolution, the animal in question lived around 65 million years ago.

It is believed to have appeared just after the extinction of the dinosaurs as the fossil skull and jaws of Militocodon lydae were uncovered from rocks dating back to that period. The creature’s fossil was recovered from the Corral Bluffs, a site in Colorado, United States.

The finding also provides important clues about the explosive diversification of mammals after the dinosaurs went extinct, said the researchers.

After unearthing the specimen, the team used sophisticated scanning techniques, 3D reconstructions, and teeth comparisons to find out where Militocodon lydae would be placed on the evolutionary tree.

Saudi Arabia held its first fashion show featuring swimsuit models on Friday, an envelope-pushing step in a country where less than a decade ago women were required to wear body-covering abaya robes.

The poolside show featuring the work of Moroccan designer Yasmina Qanzal included mostly one-piece suits in shades of red, beige and blue. Most models had exposed shoulders and some had their midriffs partially visible.

Passengers on board a New York-bound flight were left soaked, wet and cold as the plane's air vents blew out a thick mist of liquid. TikToker Savannah Gowarty, who was on the plane, shared a video of the incident, showing the drenched interior of the aircraft.

"What is this?" she says, her hair and face visibly wet. "Four hour flight. So cold."

The situation was such that even the pilot had to acknowledge "it appears to be raining in the cabin” from the cockpit.

The TikToker didn't reveal which airline she flew.

Incident not so uncommon

However weird it may sound or look, such incidents are not so unusual in flights, especially when they are operating in hot weather.

For instance, an EasyJet flight flying from France to London experienced a similar mist incident last July.

The Euphoria star has achieved a lot in her career, and this year she co-chaired the Met Gala, the fashion's biggest night, for the first time along with Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez. But did you know that at the start of her career, many high-end brands refused to work with her? Zendaya's longtime stylist, Law Roach, has revealed that there were many luxury houses that didn't want to collaborate with the Dune actress back then. Dutch contestant excluded from Eurovision hours before the song contest final In an interview with The Cutting Room Floor, Roach said, “I would write the big five. I would write Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Dior, and they would all say, ‘No, try again next year. She’s too green.'” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Zendaya (@zendaya) × Further, Roach went on to reveal that her client still did not wear any one of those big fashion pieces, who turned her down, except one. Roach said, he kept ‘all the receipts’ from the ‘big five’. ''By the time she had got to American Vogue, she still had never wore any of those designers — she still hasn’t,” he added. Further explaining his point, he said that she has worn those designers only in editorial shoots. But, never to a red carpet or any event. Meghan Markle reveals why she married Prince Harry during Nigeria trip “In an editorial, yes. But on a red carpet, she still has never worn Dior on a carpet. She still has never worn Chanel on a carpet. She has still never worn Gucci on a carpet. Any press, any appearance, never,” Roach said. “The first time she wore Valentino in public is when she had a contract,” he added of Zendaya. He added, “So when I said, ‘If you say no, it’ll be a no forever,’ that rang true for a long, long time.” Zendaya at Met Gala Zendaya made her comeback to the Met Gala this year as co-chair of the event. For this year's dress code, ‘The Garden of Time’ the actress not just walked wearing one, not two but three looks. And all breathtaking. For her first walk, she donned a villainous look, featuring a strapless one-shouldered gown with a dramatic blue and green stripe by Maison Margiela. Her second look was a black lengthy dress with a long train by Givenchy.

‘Work of God’: This Ethiopian woman hasn’t eaten, drunk anything for last 16 years

'Deadbots' or digital recreations of lost loved ones are fast becoming a reality, with many companies offering services that can bring back the dead digitally. As amazing as it may sound, AI ethicists have warned that such services would do more harm than good and can even "haunt" users.

What are 'deadbots'?

Deadbots or 'griefbots' are AI chatbots trained to simulate the personality and speech patterns of a dead loved one using the digital footprints — messages, etc — they've left behind.

The ethical dilemma

As per the University of Cambridge researchers, "Artificial intelligence that allows users to hold text and voice conversations with lost loved ones runs the risk of causing psychological harm and even digitally 'haunting' those left behind, without design safety standards."

Researchers from Cambridge University's Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence in a paper published in the journal Philosophy and Technology have highlighted how these deadbots can cause psychological harm or be misused.

'Overwhelming emotional weight'

As per the researchers, such deadbots can distress users, especially children, by insisting their dead parent is still "with you". They contend that while initially, these digital recreations may offer some semblance of comfort, in the losing term, they can cause psychological distress.

Users may feel drained by daily interactions that become an "overwhelming emotional weight", argue researchers. They also say that the emotional crutch can impede mourning, which is a natural process of dealing with grief.

An ethical minefield

As per study co-author Dr Katarzyna Nowaczyk-Basińska, "Rapid advancements in generative AI mean that nearly anyone with Internet access and some basic know-how can revive a deceased loved one", it is an "ethical minefield".

"It's important to prioritise the dignity of the deceased, and ensure that this isn't encroached on by financial motives of digital afterlife services, for example."

One potential scenario the researchers propose is the misuse of the "data donor" or the digitally recreated dead loved one, to push products and advertising.

"People might develop strong emotional bonds with such simulations, which will make them particularly vulnerable to manipulation," said co-author Dr Tomasz Hollanek.

They suggest that deadbots should be retired in a "dignified way".

"Methods and even rituals for retiring deadbots in a dignified way should be considered. This may mean a form of digital funeral, for example, or other types of ceremony depending on the social context."

"We recommend design protocols that prevent deadbots being utilised in disrespectful ways, such as for advertising or having an active presence on social media," added Hollanek.

They also call for age restrictions for users and "meaningful transparency" to ensure users are consistently aware that they are interacting with an AI.

"These services run the risk of causing huge distress to people if they are subjected to unwanted digital hauntings from alarmingly accurate AI recreations of those they have lost. The potential psychological effect, particularly at an already difficult time, could be devastating," they reason.
