A horrific incident was reported from a Texas asphalt facility where a worker was buried under three feet of hot tar after a tank filled with 50,000 gallons of the substance ruptured. Asphalt went everywhere, as people reported hearing an explosion and the black substance falling down. One man was unaccounted for when emergency responders reached Martin Asphalt at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday after receiving a call about the spill. "We have not been able to confirm the identity. Once we do, we will notify the next of kin," Alanis said on Wednesday. Reports suggest that the tar was nearly 100 degrees Celsius when the tank burst, flooding the area and burying one of the men three feet under it, KHOU reported.
A mysterious unidentified fireball was seen zig-zagging through the sky over Texas on Tuesday night, with some calling it a UFO because of its strange trajectory. This is the fourth such object in a week, and fifth overall in 2026, to make an appearance anywhere in the world - Ohio, Turkey, Australia and New York. The object was captured over Red Oak, and videos show an orange fireball that went against the laws of physics. A typical meteor moves in a straight line and either crashes or burns up in the atmosphere. However, the mystery visitor in Texas moved bizarrely. The object was plummeting to the ground and suddenly changed direction, turning upwards. The Pennsylvania and Ohio fireball was seen streaking through the sky on Tuesday morning. The Turkey incident was recorded on Sunday in the city of Uşak.
What was the Texas fireball? UFO? Drones? Skydiver?

A social media user wrote, "Red Oak, Texas, 'meteor" zigzagging like it's got a pilot? Up, down, hover – no straight drop." Some suggested that it could be a skydiver, and smirked at those proposing it was a "controlled" object. The most strange thing this object did was shooting up when it should have fallen down. "Meteors burn straight paths while fragmenting from atmospheric friction, yet this one moves with eerie precision, almost like it's piloted," a user wrote. Its movement defies logic and science, and hints at the possibility that it was an artificial object. Strange acting lights were also seen in New York City 10 days ago. They steered, stopped and hovered and appeared to be chasing each other.

Electric utilities have in the past taken responsibility for wildfires across the US, citing instances such as fallen power lines causing a blaze in Maui last year and transmission lines sparking a significant California wildfire in 2019.

The Texas wildfire is part of a series of fires that erupted in the rural Panhandle last week, leading to evacuation orders in several small communities.

Officials estimate that up to 500 structures may have been destroyed in these fires, including the Smokehouse Creek fire, which is now the largest in Texas history.

As of Wednesday (March 6), this wildfire, which also extended into neighboring Oklahoma, was approximately 44 per cent contained.

Xcel Energy, the utility provider on Thursday (March 8) stated that its facilities may have played a role in triggering a massive wildfire in the Texa Panhandle, which has now become the largest blaze in the state's history. Texas authorities are still investigating the fire, which has scorched nearly 1,700 square miles (4,400 square kilometers) and caused the destruction of numerous structures. Watch: Wildfires in Texas ravage over 500,000 acres, prompt evacuation orders × Electric utilities have in the past taken responsibility for wildfires across the US, citing instances such as fallen power lines causing a blaze in Maui last year and transmission lines sparking a significant California wildfire in 2019. Filed on behalf of homeowner Melanie McQuiddy against Xcel Energy Services Inc. and two other utilities, the lawsuit claimed that the fire originated when a wooden pole, inadequately inspected and maintained by the defendants, splintered and snapped off at its base. Last week rainfall brought some relief to Texas, home to the largest wildfire in its history, according to officials.
The decision is a major blow to the program since Texas is the largest recipient of refugees in the country.

"At this time, the state and non-profit organizations have a responsibility to dedicate available resources to those who are already here, including refugees, migrants and the homeless," Abbott, a Republican, said in his letter to the US State Department.
