“During intervening night, terrorists fired upon &amp; injured one migrant labourer Mohd Amrez, r/o Madhepura, Besarh, Bihar at Soadnara Sumbal, Bandipora. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

The migrant labourer's killing comes days ahead of the India’s Independence Day celebrations.&nbsp;This is the second incident in the Kashmir Valley in the last 10 days where a migrant labourer was shot dead by terrorists. Earlier, a labourer was killed in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.&nbsp;

The family members of the deceased said that they heard some gunshots&nbsp;around midnight and when they went out to see, they found Amrez lying in a pool of blood.&nbsp;

"It happened around 12.20 am.&nbsp;My brother wasn't present in the room and at the same time, we heard some gunshots outside.&nbsp;When we went out to search for him, we found him lying in a pool of blood. We also informed the Indian Army.&nbsp;He died on the way to the hospital,'' said Mohammad Tamzeed, brother of Amrez.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken the responsibility of sending the corpse of the deceased to his native village. Meanwhile, other migrant labourers are seeking strict punishment&nbsp;for those responsible for the killings.

''We have been working in Kashmir for the last 5 years, every now and then a labourer is killed here. We are requesting everyone to not do something like this, we come here for work. We want the killers to be punished,'' said Mohammad Akbar, brother of the killed labourer.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated an inquiry into the killing of the labourer.&nbsp;So far, 22 civilians have been killed in various terror incidents across the valley in 2022.&nbsp;

The latest attack comes a day after four soldiers were killed by terrorists who struck at an Army camp in the Rajouri district.

The two attackers, believed to be from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, were gunned down in the shootout after the pre-dawn suicide strike that marked the return of 'fidayeen' to Jammu and Kashmir after more than three years.

PTI news agency quoted J&amp;K Director General of Police Dilbag&nbsp;Singh as saying that the two terrorists appeared to be foreigners, but their identity is yet to be identified.

The army recovered two AK-47 rifles along with nine magazines and 300 rounds, five grenades and other “administrative stores’’.

The police officer killed in the attack has been identified as ASI Mushtaq Ahmad. The other two police cops were shifted to the hospital and are being treated.&nbsp;

“ASI Mushtaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries &amp; attained martyrdom. We pay rich tribute to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty. Other two injured personnel are being treated. Further details shall follow,” said Jammu and Kashmir Police IG, Vijay Kumar.

The area has been cordoned by security forces and search for the terrorists involved in the incident has been started.

Alexei Saab, 45, of Morristown, — also known as Ali Hassan Saab, Alex Saab, or “Rachid”—had a double identity.

By the day, he was a software engineer working in big tech companies and trying to pass off as an American citizen.

By night, he was “a terrorist and spy” trying to attack Americans at popular locations if Iran was attacked by the US, said Assistant US Attorney Samuel Adelsberg, reports AP news agency.

Saab was arrested in July 2019 after being questioned during 11 sessions over several weeks with FBI agents. He remained in federal custody.

It is being claimed that Saab provided photos and other detailed intel on New York City landmarks and transportation hubs to Hezbollah in 2003.

Saab had reconned dozens of locations in New York City, including the United Nations headquarters, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Empire State Building, the federal offices at 26 Federal Plaza, and local airports, tunnels, and bridges, including the George Washington Bridge.

Saab joined Hezbollah in 1996, and his earliest activities with the group include spying in Lebanon on the movements of Israeli and Southern Lebanese Army soldiers, and intelligence-gathering in Istanbul, the indictment alleges.

In 2000, Saab lawfully entered the United States using a Lebanese passport, and he became a naturalised US citizen in 2008, the indictment alleges.

Meanwhile, the alleged spy’s lawyer Saab’s lawyer, Marlon Kirton, argued that all the evidence in the case was from Saab himself and could not be considered reliable, according to AP.

And he noted that Hezbollah had never attacked Americans in the United States.

Saab has pleaded not guilty to charges related to terrorism and citizenship application fraud.

In the last year, there have been a number of reports regarding militants close to ISIS planning terror attacks in Tunisia. According to a recent report by Reuters, it is estimated that more than 3,000 Tunisians have joined the war in Syria and Iraq fighting on the side of the Islamic State.

Officials obtained raw material which could be used to make explosives such as weapons, fertiliser and ammunition. These materials were seized during the police raid.<o:p></o:p>

"Material has been found in the possession of the persons, which, combined with other preliminary investigation material, strengthens the perception of the radicalization of the suspects and gives reason to suspect them of terrorist offenses," says Investigator Toni Sjöblom from the Southwest Finland Police.<o:p></o:p>

When the investigation had started two years ago, these men were suspected of 'serious firearms crime'. The group was, since then, being closely monitored by the local police officers.

"The force has since been closely monitored by the police, during which time the police have, among other things, screened and examined the material found in the suspects' IT equipment and found out the significance of the material in the crime," the official statement added.<o:p></o:p>

It is being reported by local media that the group followed the belief that the western governments are corrupt, irreparable and need to be removed through 'divide and rule' policy. Officials are now investigating the men for involvement in terrorism and possession of illegal firearms.<o:p></o:p>

"If you see clear signs of radicalization in your loved ones, you should react as quickly as possible, for example, by telling the authorities about your concerns,"&nbsp;Detective Superintendent Toni Sjoblom said.<o:p></o:p>

Lucelly Gil is one of the forgotten victims of 9/11: an immigrant cleaner who spent months clearing up rubble from the World Trade Center and developed cancer apparently from the toxic dust, but who remains unrecognized. 
At 7:00 am on September 15, 2001, the Colombian entered the immense ash cloud left by the collapse of the Twin Towers in New York. She would collect debris there for up to 12 hours a day, every day, for six months.

Twenty years later, the 65-year-old is still a undocumented migrant and lives with the consequences of that herculean effort: she is a breast cancer survivor, a common illness for women who worked at the site, has lost movement in one arm and suffers depression.

For eight months after the attacks, tens of thousands of people -- many of them immigrants -- cleaned Ground Zero and nearby damaged buildings.

They removed 1.8 million tons of rubble from the area and were paid between $7.50 and $10 an hour, just above the minimum wage at the time.

They didn't know it then but the exposure to asbestos and other toxic materials brought the risk of cancer, asbestosis and a host of respiratory illnesses, as well as post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression.

"I don't like to remember Ground Zero anniversaries," Gil said tearfully at a recent session of the 9/11 Latino cleaners support group Fronteras de Esperanza, or Borders of Hope, which still meets two decades on.

She remembers that after working so many hours, sometimes finding human remains, she would go home and thought she was still cleaning.

"I almost freaked out," Gil recalled.

'Injustice'

Gil, like all the cleaners spoken to by AFP, cannot work because of illnesses believed to be derived from the 9/11 operation. They dream of becoming legal residents so they can receive benefits and live without the threat of deportation.

In 2017, a then-Democratic representative from New York even introduced a bill regarding this but it was never debated in Congress.

"That the people who cleaned do not have papers is an injustice because they lost the most precious thing, which is health," Rubiela Arias, another cleaner, told AFP in the modest room she rents in Queens with the help of her son.

The now 57-year-old Colombian has been fighting for years for the Hispanic cleaners to be legally recognized.

She herself was at the site and has since suffered from various respiratory and stomach illnesses, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental ailments.

More than 2,000 cleaners, rescuers and police officers died from illnesses linked to 9/11, according to the federal victims' compensation fund.

Many undocumented cleaners, including some who were ill, have been deported in recent years, according to social worker Rosa Bramble, who has led Fronteras de Esperanza on a voluntary basis since 2010 from her office in Queens.

Others returned to their countries to die, because they were sick and could not work to support themselves. 
"Here they couldn't pay rent," said Bramble, a professor at Columbia University and who is of Venezuelan origin.

Most of the 9/11 cleaners have full medical coverage through the World Trade Center's federal health program, but many have not received compensation for their illnesses.

That is the experience of Franklin, a 50-year-old undocumented Peruvian cleaner with various respiratory ailments who decided to return from New York to Lima in 2019 to say goodbye to his ill mother, whom he had not seen for two decades.

Financial hardships

When he tried to return to the United States to take up the medical treatment guaranteed by the WTC health program in which he had been accepted -- and to claim financial compensation -- the US embassy in Lima denied him a visa.

In June he twice tried to cross the border between Mexico and the United States illegally with the help of traffickers, but was deported to Mexico both times.

"I practically gave my life to clean Ground Zero and I don't think it is fair that they are repaying me this way," he told AFP by phone from Juarez city where the traffickers kept him before his third attempt, which was successful.

Some workers who sued New York City and the companies that employed them were able to get compensation. Additionally, in 2011, Congress approved maximum payments of $250,000 for a cancer linked to 9/11. 
Gil received $40,000 in 2018, but without being able to work, the money quickly ran out.

"We as Latinos were discriminated against in relation to the other workers on 9/11," she said. 
Rosa Duque, a 56-year-old Guatemalan cleaner who has difficulty breathing, says the cleaners are "in oblivion" and must be given permanent residency.

"When we volunteered to go to work they didn't ask, 'Are you a citizen?' 'Are you a resident?'" she said.

Ardern reported that the incident began around 2:40 pm and the officers were able to shoot and kill the stabber within "roughly 60 seconds of the attack ".

Terror attack foiled as 15-kg bomb defused in Peshawar: Pak Police

Five people were taken to Dunedin Hospital on Monday afternoon after the shock stabbing attack at a supermarket in the South Island city in New Zealand.

Three people have critical injuries and another two were moderately injured.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the first question she asked police was whether the Dunedin attack had national security implications but they assured her it did not. "At this stage, there's nothing to suggest from the police's perspective that this is what they would define as a domestic terror event," she told reporters. Ardern also said police were not looking for anyone else concerning the attack.
