The administration of President Joe Biden's guidelines, which were unveiled on Friday, contains a provision to cut off China from specific chips produced anywhere in the globe using American machinery, greatly extending its reach in an effort to halt Beijing's scientific and military advancements.&nbsp;

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the largest contract chipmaker in the world and a significant supplier to businesses like Apple Inc., is based in Taiwan, a country that produces a lot of chips.

Taiwan's economy ministry stated in a statement in reaction to the U.S. declaration that Taiwanese businesses adhered to the law.&nbsp;

"Taiwan's semiconductor industry has long served global customers and attaches great importance to compliance with laws," it said.

According to the ministry, the government remains in regular communication with manufacturers and encourages them to invest in the expansion of their factories and deliver goods to markets across the world for technical advancement.

TSMC refused to comment on the American regulations, claiming that it was a quiet time before its quarterly reports the next week. Prior to the announcement of its earnings later this month, the smaller competitor United Microelectronics Corp. similarly declined to comment.

Before the coronavirus pandemic broke out, Japan and China also enjoyed incredible people-to-people ties.&nbsp;

The number of people travelling to China from Japan stood at 12 million. While Tokyo welcomed nearly 10 million visitors from the mainland. This is the highest number among all foreign visitors to the two countries.

In the last 50 years, Japan and China have signed more than 250 friendship city agreements. Besides this, both countries are a part of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and Beijing-Tokyo Forum.

While 66 per cent of Chinese have a negative image of Japan, 90 per cent of Japanese felt the same way about China as per a survey last year by the Japanese think tank Genron NPO.

Taiwan has reported 6.3 million domestic cases since the beginning of the year, driven by the more infectious Omicron variant. With more than 99% of those showing no or only mild symptoms, the government has relaxed restrictions in its "new Taiwan model".&nbsp;

Cabinet spokesman Lo Ping-cheng told reporters that with a well vaccinated population and the pandemic under control at home, the time had come to re-open borders.&nbsp;

According to CNN, the USS Zumwalt belongs to a class of multi-mission guided missile destroyers that the Navy believes will “create a new level of battlespace complexity for potential adversaries.”

“The C-HGB is intended to be able to destroy targets by virtue of its velocity alone,” the report said.

Taiwan&nbsp;will fully reopen its borders by ending mandatory Covid quarantine for arrivals next month, the government said Thursday.

The island has largely kept its borders closed and implemented strict quarantine rules throughout the coronavirus pandemic, keeping infection numbers low at the expense of being internationally cut off.

The government started to move away from its zero-Covid strategy in April towards accepting endemicity once its population was well vaccinated.

From October 13, authorities will eliminate quarantine and ask arrivals to self-monitor for seven days, cabinet spokesman Lo Ping-cheng quoted Premier Su Tseng-chang as saying on Thursday.

Visitors currently have to undergo a mandatory three-day hotel quarantine, followed by four days of self-monitoring during which they are expected to avoid crowded places.

Visa-free travel for visitors from certain countries will resume from September 29 and the ban on tour groups will be lifted in October, Lo added.

The new measures will allow "the public to fully return to normal life,&nbsp;Taiwan&nbsp;to open its door to welcome back tourists and all industries to be more active and prosperous", he said.

But some tourism industry experts said&nbsp;Taiwan&nbsp;would still struggle to compete for visitors with other destinations in the region because of its self-monitoring rules.

"The whole world except China and&nbsp;Taiwan&nbsp;have opened up, and&nbsp;Taiwan&nbsp;has already been too slow and too late," said Robert Kao, an expert on tourism management and operations at Tainan University of Technology.

He described the seven days of self-monitoring with no quarantine as "meaningless", and added that "tourists would opt for countries like Japan or South Korea where there are no such restrictions".

Taiwan&nbsp;saw nearly six million domestic coronavirus infections this year, although over 99 percent of the infected had mild or no symptoms, with a fatality rate of 0.16 percent, according to official data.

The Mainland Affairs Council,&nbsp;Taiwan's China affairs ministry, also announced Thursday that Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau residents could apply for entry to visit relatives, attend funerals or handle inheritances from September 29.&nbsp;

Crew members and technicians of Chinese airlines and shipping companies are also eligible to enter.&nbsp;

Overall, Taiwan sees itself as a separate country, while China considers Taiwan as its part. The same fight is still going on between China and Taiwan for their rights, which can also take the form of war in the coming times.&nbsp;

America is considered Taiwan's most important and only friend. From the Second World War until 1979, the relations between the two countries remained very close. Then in the year 1979, the then US President Jimmy Carter broke his diplomatic relations with Taiwan, taking the initiative to strengthen relations with China.&nbsp;

However, then the US Congress passed the 'Taiwan Relations Act' in response, under which it was decided that America would supply military weapons to Taiwan and if China attacks Taiwan in any way, America will take it very seriously.

The greatest tension between the US and China over Taiwan was seen when China conducted missile tests in 1996 to influence Taiwan's presidential election in its way, in response to which the then US President Bill Clinton launched massive US military power. It was called the largest US military demonstration in Asia since the Vietnam War.

Former U.S President Donald Trump has always been in support of Taiwan and now US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s move to visit Taipei has also shown President Biden's support too. Biden confirmed that the US would come to Taiwan’s defence if China attacked.

What is One-China Policy?

Under China's "One-China Policy", China considers Taiwan as its part. It refers to the United States' policy of strategic ambiguity which accepts that all "Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait is only one China and that Taiwan is a part of China."

The policy says that if a country wants to establish diplomatic relations with China(People's Republic of China), then it will have to end its diplomatic relations with Taiwan(Republic of China).

Beijing considers Taiwan its part and will do everything possible for this. Now it has to be seen that like the Russia-Ukraine war, this matter also does not take a terrible form.&nbsp;

The transit “demonstrates the commitment of the United States and our allies and partners to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” Lt. Langford explained in the statement according to CNN.

This was the second time in around three weeks that a US warship has passed through the region.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan caused tensions to flare once again in the region with China responding with military drills in the Strait. In the last two months, a number of US delegations have visited Taiwan with Biden supporting their cause on multiple occasions.
