Warne is a legend of the gentlemen's game. He ended his illustrious career with 708 Test scalps - second-most in the format -- and 293 wickets in ODIs. He was the first captain to lift the IPL trophy, representing the Rajasthan Royals (RR), during the inaugural season in 2008. Warne was loved by many across the globe and created a huge fan base worldwide, especially in India.
A technicality led Melbourne to dethrone Sydney as Australia’s largest city by population. For at least 100 years, Sydney held the title with aplomb. But after the officials redrew the borders the Melbourne, which is the capital of the state of Victoria, to include Melton district, Sydney was relegated to second place.

According to Australia’s federal government’s latest population figures, Melbourne's population is 44.8 million, which is 18,700 more than Sydney's.

"With the amalgamation of Melton into Melbourne in the latest... classification, Melbourne has more people than Sydney - and has had since 2018, " the ABS's Andrew Howe told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper - which described the redrawn boundary as "a technicality".

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, a city is defined as a "significant urban area", which is connected to all suburbs with more than 10,000 people.

It is estimated that Melbourne will reach 6 million population by mid-2031 – rising to 6.1 million the following year. While Sydney is forecast to pass the 6 million mark in 2032-33.

One of the primary reasons attributed for this change in demography is the net internal migration from within and outside of the country.

“It’s because more people have been moving out of Sydney, going to other parts of Australia, than have been moving in the opposite direction.
Anthony Albanese on Saturday (February 25) became Australia's first prime minister to join the marchers at Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. "We need to be a country that respects everyone for who they are," Albanese said as thousands of people gathered for the colourful event. Wearing a grey shirt and jeans, Albanese stood out in his simple outfit as onlookers and participants embraced colours for the 45th edition of the event, which returned to its inner-city route - its spiritual home of Oxford Street - after a halt of two years because of the pandemic. It was held at the Sydney Cricket Ground for the last two years.

The parade, Albanese said, is "a great example of what an amazing country this is". The Mardi Gras events have been incorporated in the Sydney World Pride festival this year, with offerings across arts, sport, theatre, concerts, parties, First Nations programming and a human rights conference.

Australia: New Year celebrations to take place without Covid curbs for first time in two years

An urgent health alert has been sparked by toxic spinach in Australia after severe hallucinations and sickness were reported by people who consumed it.
Medical care was given to nine people who consumed the Riviera Farms baby spinach from Costco shopping mall.

According to the health authorities, the patients also had symptoms of blurred vision, delirium and spiked heart rates. Riviera Farms said that a weed has most probably contaminated the spinach, however, it has not affected any other products.

New South Wales Health has issued a warning that the brand’s packaged spinach which has an expiry date of December 16 should not be consumed. Meanwhile, people who have consumed spinach and are suffering from unusual symptoms have been urged to seek immediate hospital care.

While speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, the state's Poisons Information Centre’s Dr Darren Roberts said, "No one has died, so we're very happy with that and we hope it remains that way, but these people are quite sick... to the point of marked hallucinations, where they are seeing things that aren't there.”
