<p>Royal Challengers Bangalore’s team director Mike Hesson is of the view that South African veterans AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn still have plenty to offer at <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a> despite playing few matches in top-level cricket in recent times.</p>

<p>De Villiers had quit international cricket in 2018 but continues to participate in T20 tournaments and was last seen in 3TC Solidarity Cup organized by Cricket South Africa in July. Hesson recalled his performance in the 3TC Cup while lauding his form and class.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Only a matter of weeks ago he took part in a match in South Africa and once again he was a standout player, having just come out of his living room. So that certainly showed the quality of player he is,” Hesson told a virtual media conference from Dubai on Wednesday.</p>

<p>“He’s had very, very good franchise tournaments around the world the last 12 months and he’s in good touch.</p>

<p>Whereas express speedster Steyn, who retired from Test cricket in 2019 to extend his limited-overs career, has played just three T20I matches in 2020 in addition to the matches played in Pakistan Super League (PSL) before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.</p>

<p>“He’s developing his game,” former New Zealand head coach Hesson said of the 37-year-old quick.</p>

<p>As the RCB squad gears up to start training for IPL 2020, franchise’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson reckons that single training session for all the players won’t be a viable options given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 pandemic, strict protocols and what each player has experienced over the last few months.</p>

<p>RCB, who are based in Dubai for IPL 2020, will begin their three-week training camp at the ICC Cricket Academy and will take up training and practice to gather the lost rhythm and demands of playing in the extreme heat in the UAE.</p>

Our Support Staff team will continue working in a way that is flexible and offers personalised support. We have a highly skilled Support Staff team to nurture the players mentally, physically and emotionally to assist each players preparation so they are ready to play their best cricket.”</p>

<p>A window opened up for the BCCI to organise the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a> after ICC officially postponed the T20 World Cup on Monday. As per <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/planning-for-full-fledged-ipl-2020-most-likely-in-the-uae-brijesh-patel-314905">IPL chairman Brijesh Patel, the Indian board is all set to take IPL 2020 to the UAE</a> with more details expected once the IPL Governning Council meeting is over.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A lot of questions popped up as soon as UAE was partially confirmed by Brijesh Patel as the host of IPL 2020. The pitch conditions, temperature, outfield and other aspects of the game comes into play when there’s a change of country. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra if of the view that players may have to suffer with dehydration and heat.</p>

<p>“There will be no problem although they might have to fight a little bit with the heat. For now, the weather is good. Let’s be fair, UAE experiences a lot of heat. But September and October are still the pleasant months,” Chopra said in a video on his Youtube channel ‘Aakash Vani’.</p>

<p>“In double-headers, however pleasant it might be, it is after all the heat of the middle east. So, batsmen might get dehydrated,” the cricketer-turned commentator added.</p>

<p>Chopra further said that RCB might do well in the UAE. The former Indian batsman said that teams like Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab will also have an upper hand in terms on getting the most of out the conditions in the UAE.</p>

<p>Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the umpteenth time was in line to pull off another incredible chase but finally ran out of luck as Bangalore managed to beat Chennai by one run in another last-ball IPL thriller on Sunday.</p>

<p>Chasing a target of 162, Chennai needed a near-impossible 26 off the last over bowled by Umesh Yadav and Dhoni with 84 off 48 balls that had seven sixes showed that nothing is indeed impossible until the Cricketing Gods intervened.</p>

<p>Only that Dhoni was at the crease and having consumed dot balls off the previous over, he had to go for the jugular and boy he did it with three sixes and a four.</p>

<p>With two needed off the last ball and Umesh looking increasingly helpless, he maneged to bowl a slower delivery and Dhomi missed it only for Parthiv Patel to effect a run-out as non-striker Shardul Thakur inches out of his crease.</p>

<p>In the end, it was Dhoni who lost to Bangalore, who eked out their third win of the tournament.</p>

<p>He followed it up with a perfect yorker against an out-of-form Suresh Raina (0), who has always been found wanting against quality fast bowling.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Umesh Yadav despite the odd loose delivery produced extra pace and bounce to get rid of Faf du Plessis (5) and Kedar Jadhav (9) as Chennai were left tottering at 28 for 4.</p>

<p>The trusted pair of Ambati Rayudu (29 off 29 balls) and Dhoni started resurrecting the innings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dhoni hit Stoinis for a six and Rayudu having struggled for long finally found some touch as he pulled Umesh over deep mid-wicket for a six and then hit a one-bounce for over extra cover.</p>

<p>They had a 55-run stand before Rayudu got one from Yuzvendra Chahal (1/24 in 4 overs) angled into his pads. He missed the line and the ball hit the pads and then onto the stumps leaving Dhoni with an onerous task.</p>

<p>Once Jadeja was run-out for 11, Chennai were in deep trouble at 108 for 6 but Dhoni carried the fight till the end.</p>

<p>Earlier, Parthiv Patel's attacking half-century and Moeen Ali's final flourish wasn't enough as Bangalore put up a sub-par 161 for 7 after being put into bat.</p>

<p>Parthiv smashed 53 off 37 balls but didn't get a lot of support from the other end until Moeen Ali used the long handle to hit 26 off 16 balls even as AB de Villiers (25 off 19 balls) and Akshdeep Nath (24 off 20 balls) delivered little after promising a lot.</p>

<p>Deepak Chahar (2/25 in 4 overs) was impressive as usual while Ravindra Jadeja's (2/29 in 4 overs) twin breakthrough during partnership was also important in the context of the innings.</p>

<p>Dwayne Bravo (2/34 in 4 overs) also chipped in with a couple of wickets in the end.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Virat Kohli (9) hit a couple of boundaries before a thickish edge off a Chahar outswinger brought about his downfall. Mahendra Singh Dhoni took a nice catch behind the stumps.</p>
