<h2><strong>Which departments have signed contracts with Infosys?</strong></h2>

<p>As per the database, Infosys has signed contracts to provide services and supplies to multiple government clients, including the Home Office, the Care Quality Commission, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, Westminster Council, Nottingham University, the London Borough of Merton, and East Sussex County Council.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, there are no contracts between Infosys, the Treasury, or the Cabinet Office on Contracts Finder, a public record of government contracts.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Infosys contracts with UK government agencies, organisation</strong></h2>

<p>The most recent contract was awarded in December 2022, with Transport for London. Under it, Infosys has been contracted to supply £1,760,500 ($2,190,581) worth of "consulting, software development, internet and support."</p>

<p>Incidentally, the first governmental award Infosys received — back in March 2015 — was also with Transport for London. Then, Infosys and 15 partner companies managed to secure contracts worth £98 million (around $121 million).</p>

<p>Infosys has also signed two contracts with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency worth £5.35 million ($6.65 million), and six contracts with the Care Quality Commission totalling £20.3 million ($25.24 million).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company has also been a party to a £10 million contract with Westminster Council to provide a digital roadmap and has supplied computer goods and software to Nottingham University valued at £650,600 ($809,131). Its contracts with the London Borough of Merton and East Sussex County Council amount to £500,000 ($621,835) and £25 million ($31&nbsp;million), respectively.</p>

<p>Additionally, Infosys has signed two contracts with the Home Office worth £10.8 million ($13.4&nbsp;million), including a 2017-2020 contract worth £7.4 million&nbsp;($9.2&nbsp;million) for "quality assurance and infrastructure testing."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite this, there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing in relation to the awarding of&nbsp;the contracts.</p>

<h2><strong>How is Sunak linked to Infosys?</strong></h2>

<p>As mentioned before, his father-in-law was a co-founder of Infosys.</p>

<p>Apart from this, his wife, Akshata Murty,&nbsp;reportedly has a 0.93 per cent interest in the business. This amounts to 38.9 million shares, worth an estimated £89 million ($110 million) or so. Dividends from these shares as per the New European amount to around £12 million (almost $15 million) annually.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Until recently, Murty&nbsp;was not liable for UK tax on account of her "non-dom" status. Sunak has previously faced criticism when it emerged that Murty did not declare earnings from her Infosys&nbsp;dividends for UK tax purposes. However, after a furore, she said that she would include them.</p>

<p>AFP reports that the Indian-origin PM is also under investigation by the U UK parliamentary watchdog, over a possible failure to declare shares held by his wife in a childcare agency "Koru Kids" that stands to benefit from a recent budget.</p>

<p>British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab announced his resignation on Friday following the release of a report by independent lawyer Adam Tolley KC into allegations that he bullied government staff. The report was handed to PM Rishi Sunak, who has accepted Raab's resignation already.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Raab first set foot in the power alleys of London in 2010 when he was elected as an MP from Esher and Walton when David Cameron came to power. Raab emerged as a leader alongside the likes of Liz Truss and Kwazi Kwarteng, both of whom had a disastrous spell in 10, Downing Street.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He played an important part in Britain's rather tumultuous exit from the European Union. In 2018, he was named as the Brexit secretary but resigned four months later after disagreeing with former PM Theresa May's draft Brexit withdrawal agreement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The opposition parties often criticised Raab for not having a proper grasp of Brexit and what were its implications for the general public. As the Brexit secretary, Raab did not understand the&nbsp;importance of the Dover-Calais crossing for UK trade.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Raab called the findings of the report which said he had acted in a way that was "intimidating" and "persistently aggressive" while he was foreign minister, were flawed.</p>

<p>But he went through with his promise to quit if any bullying allegations were upheld.</p>

<p>"I called for the inquiry and undertook to resign if it made any finding of bullying whatsoever," Raab said. "I believe it is important to keep my word."</p>

<p>Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he accepted Raab's resignation with great sadness and acknowledged his concerns about how initial allegations about his behaviour had been handled.</p>

<p>The five-month investigation by lawyer Adam Tolley into Raab's behaviour heard evidence from government officials about complaints of bullying at three different departments.</p>

<p>This will "have a chilling effect on those driving change on behalf of your government - and ultimately the British people", he said in his letter.</p>

<p>It added, “I won’t sit back and allow this cultural sense that it’s OK to be bad at maths to put our children at a disadvantage.” Sunak is&nbsp;to pitch his campaign to “transform” UK’s supposed national approach to the subject saying that it is not some “nice to have” and change how Britain values maths.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UK PM is also expected to cite statistics showing that Britain&nbsp;is below average for numeracy among industrialised countries as more than eight million adults reportedly have maths skills below those expected in schools for a child aged nine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“If we are going to grow the economy not just over the next two years, but the next 20, we simply cannot allow poor numeracy to cost our economy tens of billions a year or to leave people twice as likely to be unemployed as those with competent numeracy,” Sunak is expected to say.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UK PM will also say that this change will not be delivered overnight and how they&nbsp;“need to recruit and train the maths teachers.”&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>UK government’s previous response to the issue</strong></p>

<p>This comes months after the British government had pledged to set up an advisory committee to determine if they should&nbsp;make maths&nbsp;compulsory from the current minimum of 16 to 18. The group would include mathematicians, education experts and business representatives to advise on the numeracy content needed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However,&nbsp;critics, some of which are from the&nbsp;opposition parties have called the promise meaningless saying that the incumbent Tory government does not have a plan or the means including money to recruit and train more maths teachers to implement their mandates.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Once again, the prime minister needs to show his working: he cannot deliver this reheated, empty pledge without more maths teachers,” said UK’s Shadow Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson, as per the Guardian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She added that the Tory government has failed UK’s children for 13 years and “repeatedly misses their target for new maths teachers, with maths attainment gaps widening and existing teachers leaving in their droves.”<br />

<p>“I’ve always said that this is not something that is easy – it is a complicated problem, where there’s no single, simple solution that will fix it. And I’ve also said that it won’t happen overnight,” Sunak said in an interview with the website ConservativeHome.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"People should know it's very important to me, it's hugely important to the country that we need to fix the system, as a matter of fairness. It's not fair that people are breaking the rules and coming here illegally," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When asked if the objective could be achieved by the next general elections, scheduled to take place in 2024, Sunak appeared to dodge the question.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, to regain some of the favour from his partymen, the former chancellor stated his government's approach to tackle the issue was 'ambitious' and that he wasn't 'going to make any apologies for that'.&nbsp;</p>
