Adrian Newey shocked one and all by announcing that he will leave Red Bull in 2025, ending his nearly 20-year-long association with the F1 team as their top engineer. Since then, many are speculating his next move as rival teams such as Ferrari, Mercedes and&nbsp;McLaren have an eye on him. Amid all this, reports have suggested that Newey has been linked with a move to Ferrari next season. However, the veteran's manager Eddie Jordan rubbished all such claims, saying that nothing has been decided yet.

In an interview with ESPN, Newey's manager claimed that the Briton is still contemplating the next step of his illustrious career. He stated, "It's not accurate, I can give my life on that. There is no inclination to go in any particular way at the moment. We're looking at opportunities and letting people come and talk to us."

Ferrari emerged as a top contender for Newey ever since his departure plans from Red Bull emerged out. With Lewis Hamilton also set to join the Italian team next year, reports from Daily Mail linked Newey to the team, however, Jordan mentioned, "I'm speaking as someone who should know and I'm not giving any information away... at no stage is any of this discussion happening."

Jordan further opined, "There will be talks, and there will be ongoing talks because we have yet to decide what Adrian himself wants to do. He's been at this straight from university, Leyton House, McLaren, Williams."

'Can give my life on that': Adrian Newey’s manager slams rumours of outgoing Red Bull engineer joining Ferrari

Adrian Newey has revealed for the first time since announcing his departure from Red Bull that he expects to join another Formula 1 team shortly, according to a BBC report.

Adrian Newey has revealed for the first time since announcing his departure from Red Bull that he expects to join another Formula 1 team shortly, according to a BBC report. The legendary car designer surprised the sporting world when he announced his exit before the Miami Grand Prix, following months of speculations amid the ongoing Christian Horner saga. The 65-year-old said he was “seriously considering changing teams, going somewhere else and doing another four or five years or whatever”. “I feel a little bit tired at the moment, but at some point I’ll probably go again," he added. Newey is expected to depart Red Bull at the end of the first quarter of 2025, having been associated with the team for close to two decades. During his stay on the paddock, Newey managed to clinch 12 F1 Constructors and 13 Drivers Championships and could potentially walk away with another two trophies in the bag, given the way Red Bull has started the season. That’s my passion. And I enjoy working with the drivers, the engineers in the team, all the other mechanics at the factory, etc. That’s what gets me up and motivates me," said Newey in another interview. “The kind of other side of it is something [which] I guess comes as part of the package, but not something I ever think about. So it has been a bit of a shock and a surprise almost," he added. Although Newey has been linked to multiple teams since the announcement, it appears that Ferrari would be the most likely destination where he might join forces with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. 'Seriously considering': Car design guru Adrian Newey to join another F1 team after Red Bull departure

Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya opened up on the rumours of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull. While Verstappen has denied all such claims,&nbsp;rumours of his departure keep popping up from time to time amid a lot happening off the circuit in the Red Bull camp this season. The start of the 2024 F1 season saw an alleged sexual harassment case being filed against team principal Christian Horner, which made a lot of noise, and was soon followed by the exit of Adrian Newey -- their superstar engineer. Amid all this, news of Verstappen being eager to leave Red Bull continues to resurface.

Thus, Montoya believes Max has no reason to leave Red Bull, given he is winning almost every race. However, he opined that if the rumours come true, Max's father Jos Verstappen might have a role in his exit. When Horner was under the radar for sexual harassment accusation, by an unnamed female employee, it is believed that he was on one side whereas Verstappens and current director Helmet Marko were on the other. Since then, there are strong reports that suggest that Jos isn't happy with Red Bull's internal issues.&nbsp;

Thus, Montoya told RacingNews365, "I really don’t [see Verstappen leaving], I think he would be stupid if he did. Max has everybody talking: ‘Oh, he is going to leave Red Bull’, and you go, ‘Why would you leave Red Bull if they’re winning everything?’ Unless you are not there for the right reason, you will leave, but if you are there for the right reason, you wouldn’t touch it."

He added, "Maybe Jos is p*ssed and wants to drive Max away, it could be, but honestly, he is in the right situation right now, and it would be crazy to go."

Meanwhile, Max -- ignoring his transfer rumours --&nbsp;reacted to Newey's departure, stating that the media had blown the whole situation out of proportion and reckoned that Red Bull still have a strong team in place.

The Dutchman stated that he would have loved to see Newey continue but understood the veteran's decision. He told, as quoted by PlanetF1, "I think people in the press, they’re making up a lot of things at the moment, because they don’t understand how the roles were in the team." He further added, "But of course, like I said before, I cannot deny that I would have preferred him to stay, just for how he is as a person, his knowledge. And of course, what he will bring to potentially another team if he wants to join."

Formula 1: Adrian Newey ‘shocked and surprised’ over reaction to Red Bull exit

While Red Bull is having another good run in the ongoing F1 season, it has been&nbsp;a torrid time for them off the circuit with too many distractions. After reports of Christian Horner's alleged misconduct with a female employee spread like wildfire, earlier&nbsp;this year, the Milton Keynes-based team saw Adrian Newey -- their legendary engineer -- part ways&nbsp;after a lengthy association. Now, Horner has also made heads turn by revealing that they have poached as many as 220 Mercedes HPP personnel. Notably, the number is massive as it is approximately 20 per cent of the overall workforce of the German team.&nbsp;

In a conversation with RacingNews365, Red Bull team principal Horner stated, "I &nbsp;think it's inevitable, I think the two [team bosses] involved, they talk a lot. And I'm not going to get sucked into a tit for tat. But I'd be more focused on Toto's own issues that he has, and I don't have any concern with the strength and depth [of Red Bull], there's always going to be movement between teams."

He further added, "I don't know how many people we've employed from McLaren this year, or how many people [RB] has employed, but from Mercedes, we've taken 220 people out of HPP into Red Bull Powertrains. So when we're talking of losing people, I'd be a bit more worried about the 220 people than one or two CVs."

Not only this, there have also been strong reports that indicate&nbsp;the senior technician team, including Pierre Wache, has committed to a long-term contract. Meanwhile, there have also been rumours&nbsp;that Jonathan Wheatley -- Horner's main man in recent times&nbsp;-- might be interested in moving out.&nbsp;

Wheatley's contract is up for renewal and he might&nbsp;be interested in taking on some other challenges. However, Horner didn't comment on the matter, saying, "I mean, there's rumours about everybody, but contracts between individuals, the terms and conditions, is not something that we really talk about to the public."

Adrian Newey, the outgoing F1 designer of Red Bull, says that he's going to take a break before deciding on his new adventure. Newey will be leaving Red Bull early in 2025 after making them a powerhouse of the sport. In last five years, Red Bull has finished on the top of the constructor's standings twice (2023 and 2022), second place twice (2021 and 2020) and third in 2019. They have also won back-to-back championships as well.

"F1 is all consuming, I've been at it for a long time now," he told Sky Sports.

"2021 was a really busy year with all the title battle with Mercedes through the championship and at the same time, putting all the research and development into the RB18, which is the father of this generation of cars ... and then there comes a point where, as Forest Gump said, 'I'm feeling a little bit tired'.

"[I've been thinking about it] a little while now, and then as events have unfolded this year, I'm in the very lucky position where I don't need to work to live, I work because I enjoy it and I just felt that now was a good time to take step back, take a bit of a break, take stock of life, go travelling a bit," he added.

Newey has been rumoured to move to Ferrari where Lewis Hamilton will be heading after the ongoing season.

Notably, Newey has acknowledged regretting not working with a driver like Hamilton in his career.

Newey has been rumoured to move to Ferrari where Lewis Hamilton will be heading after the ongoing season. Formula 1: 'I'm very flattered,' says Red Bull's Adrian Newey on working with Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari

On Wednesday (May 1), Adrian Newey -- the legendary designer -- announced his exit from the Red Bull team, after serving with them for 19 years. The move came ahead of the upcoming Miami Grand Prix and casts further shadows on the future of other top personnel in he team, including star driver Max Verstappen. It was speculated that Verstappen is looking for a switch, following allegations on team principal Christian Horner for sexual misconduct and&nbsp;the 2026 rule changes. However, the Dutchman revealed that he plans to fulfil his Red Bull contract -- until 2028. Nonetheless, following Newey's departure, his father made a bold claim.

It is to be noted that Verstappen has won three titles on the trot and is in line to match Sebastian Vettel's footsteps and win 4 successive races. However, the recent internal power struggle might prompt him to look elsewhere. Following Newey's latest move, Max's father Jos Verstappen expressed his concerns about the future of his son and Red Bull in general.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Jos said, "The team is in danger of falling apart. I was afraid of that earlier this year. For internal peace, it is important that key people stay on board. That is not the case now. (Adrian) Newey is leaving and earlier this year it also looked like Helmut would be sent away. For the future, that is not good."

There have been reports of Verstappen looking to move to Mercedes and become Lewis Hamilton's replacement, who is going to Ferrari from 2025. Recently, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff denied having any talks, or being in discussions, with Verstappen's father -- with whom he shares good relations -- and his manager for a potential 2025 move.

Despite all the claims, there are strong speculations of a possible meet between Wolff and Verstappen's team. One might probably get a clear picture after this weekend's Miami Grand Prix.

'Team is in danger of falling apart': Verstappen's father hints at Red Bull driver's future after Newey's exit

Formula One's most sought-after designer Adrian Newey has announced his departure from Red Bull in 2025, after being associated with the F1 team for as many as&nbsp;19 years. The Red Bull team made the official announcement on Wednesday (May 1)̣. There were speculations of Newey's exit and it was expected that the announcement would come ahead of the forthcoming Miami Grand Prix, which commences on May 6.&nbsp;

The BBC and Germany's Auto Motor und Sport had reported in April that Newey was considering moving out of Red Bull&nbsp;following allegations of alleged misconduct towards a female employee against team principal Christian Horner. Notably, Horner was cleared of all allegations in February, however, the employee has lodged an appeal against the outcome.&nbsp;

Newey said in a statement, "For almost two decades it has been my great honour to have played a key role in Red Bull Racing's progress from upstart newcomer to multiple title-winning Team. However, I feel now is an opportune moment to hand that baton over to others and to seek new challenges for myself."

Newey, who has clinched as many as 12 F1 Constructors' and 13 Drivers' Championships, has been a superstar designer and his absence will surely be felt in the Max Verstappen-led Red Bull side.&nbsp;

Horner, after the major announcement,&nbsp;said, "All of our greatest moments from the past 20 years have come with Adrian's hand on the technical tiller. His vision and brilliance have helped us to 13 titles in 20 seasons. For me, when Adrian joined Red Bull, he was already a superstar designer. Two decades and 13 Championships later he leaves as a true legend."

Thus, this is a big development for Red Bull right before the forthcoming Miami Open. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the change given Newey played a huge role in their success.

Three-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has been offered a staggering&nbsp;$160 million contract to make the switch to Mercedes from rival team Red Bull, next season, according to leading Austrian publication, OE24.

"The Dutchman is expected to earn 150 million euros per season. Including bonuses. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff really wants the 26-year-old to join the Silver Arrows."

The war of words between Christian Horner and Toto Wolff has intensified in recent weeks with the former advising the Mercedes boss to fix issues plaguing his team instead of trying to poach Max Verstappen. Speaking on the developments, F1 commentator David Croft said the animosity from Horner's side towards Mercedes stems from wanting the "control" and "power" that Wolff has.&nbsp;

Croft, known for speaking his mind, said the back-and-forth between Horner and Wolff would continue&nbsp;as long as both are on the circuit.&nbsp;

"I think Christian and Toto will carry on the war of words for their entirety of their time in Formula 1,”&nbsp;said Croft.

“It will just carry on. They’ve got a history, they’ve got a present and I think they’ve got a future when it comes to not agreeing with certain things."

“The one thing that I think is always going to wind Christian up a little bit as well is that for all the success at Red Bull, for all the titles, the trophies, the race wins that they’re enjoying at the moment, Toto Wolff is a co-owner of a Formula 1 team and Christian Horner isn’t," he added.&nbsp;

Formula One: We can fight against Red Bull, claims McLaren's Lando Norris after second podium in 2024

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has claimed that the 2026 F1 season might change the fortunes of other teams as he believes it could be a realistic opportunity for others to beat Red Bull&nbsp;due to the new regulations coming into effect. The Austrian team has been on a dominant spree in recent years but Wolff has predicted that other teams will come into play from 2026.

Since 2022, Red Bull has been on a winning spree with arch-rivals such as Mercedes and Ferrari playing catch-up to a large extent. The Wolff-led Mercedes have only one win in their kitty since regulations changed. From 2014-2021, they were the dominant force having clinched eight successive titles during that period.

Wolff, as quoted by PlanetF1, conceded that the most realistic opportunity for any team to challenge Red Bull will be from the 2026 season onwards. Reflecting on the recently concluded Japan Grand Prix -- where Mercedes could only finish P7 and P9 with Max Verstappen winning with ease --&nbsp;Wolff said, "We are in this bunch but it is not satisfying for any team that is fighting for P2 and P3, or P4. If I was to look from a purely sporting point of view, P1 is what matters, not P2, P3 or P4, but this is a reality we are facing at the moment."

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has claimed that the 2026 F1 season might change the fortunes of other teams as he believes it could be a realistic opportunity for others to beat Red Bull due to the new regulations coming into effect.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has claimed that the 2026 F1 season might change the fortunes of other teams as he believes it could be a realistic opportunity for others to beat Red Bull due to the new regulations coming into effect. Reflecting on the recently concluded Japan Grand Prix -- where Mercedes could only finish P7 and P9 with Max Verstappen winning with ease -- Wolff said, "We are in this bunch but it is not satisfying for any team that is fighting for P2 and P3, or P4. If I was to look from a purely sporting point of view, P1 is what matters, not P2, P3 or P4, but this is a reality we are facing at the moment." F1: Mercedes boss Toto Wolff claims 2026 might be 'most realistic opportunity for any team to beat Red Bull'

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff has conceded that the 2024 season was already decided with Max Verstappen set to retain his world champion crown, despite 20 races still left on the calendar. Wolff said the Red Bull driver cannot be caught after he raced to a dominant victory at Suzuka during the Japanese Grand Prix.&nbsp;

Verstappen started the race from pole and took an unassailable lead, before finishing the race more than 12 seconds clear of his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

“No one is going to catch Max this year. His driving and the car are just spectacular. You can see the way he manages the tyres and basically this season now is best of the rest,"&nbsp;Wolff said.

"That’s the fact, that is all, but hopefully we can catch up to the McLarens and to the Ferraris and fight for P2. This is what it is this year and what is was last year and we had a P2 last year," he added.&nbsp;

<h2>P2 is realistic target</h2>

While Red Bull were dominant, Mercedes struggled&nbsp;as George Russell finished seventh, followed by Lewis Hamilton in the ninth spot. Wolff said his team had accepted the reality and that challenging for P2 was the target.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ever since the new racing regulations were introduced in 2022, Mercedes have struggled to put out a comparative car that can challenge Verstappen and Red Bull's domination. Wolff has indicated that Mercedes were considering the next main regulation change of 2026 as the opportunity to catch Red Bull.&nbsp;

The woman employee who has filed a complaint against Christian Horner to FIA, alleging inappropriate behaviour by the Red Bull team principal, has said she will take her case to an employment tribunal if the current complaint is dismissed, according to a report in The Guardian.

The woman employee who has filed a complaint against Christian Horner to FIA, alleging inappropriate behaviour by the Red Bull team principal, has said she will take her case to an employment tribunal if the current complaint is dismissed, according to a report in The Guardian. If the suspended Red Bull employee takes the tribunal route, it would mean that all the private details of the case would come into the public domain. Barring an email that was leaked after Red Bull said its internal investigation gave a clean chit to Horner, nothing related to the case has come out in public so far. The said email leaked to the FIA, F1, the other nine teams and media, contained messages purporting to be between the woman and Horner. The authenticity of the messages and media has not been confirmed or denied by Red Bull so far. Complaint filed to FIA It was earlier this month that the woman submitted an official complaint to the FIA after she was suspended by the Milton Keynes-based outfit. According to reports, the employee has not been at Red Bull racing headquarters since March 4 after being told to stay home. The FIA's ethics committee is responsible for noting the complaint and conducting further investigation. After the reports came out, FIA released a statement where it refused to divulge any further details. "At the FIA, enquiries and complaints are received and managed by the Compliance Officer, and the Ethics Committee where appropriate. Both the bodies operate autonomously, guaranteeing strict confidentiality throughout the process," the FIA said, as per BBC. Since the allegations first surfaced during the pre-season testing, Horner has maintained that he is innocent and that he remains "absolutely confident" of staying at the helm for the remainder of the season. The Red Bull also said three-time champion Max Verstappen was free to leave the team if he desired and that he wouldn't stand in his way as no individual was bigger than the team. Red Bull female employee would go to tribunal if her appeal in Christian Horner case fails - Report

Red Bull's Formula One world champion Max Verstappen took pole position for the Australian Grand Prix on Saturday with Carlos Sainz qualifying alongside on the front row for Ferrari two weeks after undergoing surgery for appendicitis.

Verstappen's team mate Sergio Perez qualified third but will start sixth after stewards imposed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Haas's Nico Hulkenberg in the first session of qualifying.

That promoted both McLaren drivers, with Lando Norris to start third and Oscar Piastri fifth behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

Verstappen had bemoaned handling problems through practice but put together a sizzling lap of one minute, 15.915 seconds on a glorious afternoon at Albert Park to be 0.27 seconds clear of Sainz.

It was the irrepressible Dutchman's third pole for the Formula One season and fourth in succession.

"It was a bit unexpected today in qualifying, but very happy with Q3," said the triple world champion, who won the race last year after his maiden pole at Albert Park.

"It was a bit of a tricky weekend so far but we managed to be there at the end, so very happy with that.

"(Ferrari) seem very quick, also in the long runs. So a bit of a question mark tomorrow but that makes it exciting."

Sainz, who missed the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix while recovering from surgery, said he was happy with Ferrari's pace and to be challenging the Red Bulls.

"To make it to this weekend and then obviously to put it on the front row after leading through qualifying, I was almost not believing it, especially after how tough it’s been," he added.

<h2>'DIFFICULT TO SWALLOW'</h2>

It was a tough afternoon for Mercedes, with seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton suffering his worst qualifying at Albert Park in over a decade.

Hamilton failed to make the third session of qualifying (Q3) and will start 11th on the grid, his worst result at Albert Park since qualifying 11th in the 2010 race.

The Briton was 0.77 seconds off Sainz's best (1:16.189) in Q2, and he has been outqualified in every race this season by team mate George Russell, who will start seventh on Sunday.

"It felt great in P3, and it was strange because we were right there with these guys and we didn't really understand why," said Hamilton, who was fourth quickest in the final practice earlier on Saturday.

"And then going to qualifying and just the inconsistency within the car is ... it really messes with the mind."

Fernando Alonso had to abort his first lap in Q3 after a skid through gravel at turn six and qualified 10th, behind Aston Martin team mate Lance Stroll.

Only one Williams car featured in qualifying and will race on Sunday, with Alex Albon swapping into Logan Sargeant's car after wrecking his own during Friday practice.

The England-born Thai will start 12th on the grid.

Home racer Daniel Ricciardo of RB was eliminated in Q1 in a massive blow and will start 18th after his fastest lap was deleted for going off-track at turn five.

Yuki Tsunoda, his less experienced team mate, will start from eighth on the grid and has outqualified Ricciardo in every race this season.

"It’s very difficult to swallow but that’s the way it is," said RB team boss Laurent Mekies.

"Daniel was doing a very good job, it was probably his best lap so far of the weekend."

Hopefully, they can concentrate on racing again soon, because that’s what it’s all about. The important thing is that he [Max] keeps winning, whatever he does. The car is running very well and between the engineers and him there is also nothing wrong," Jos told Sporza in response to the apparent power struggle within the team. “Max can switch off a certain part, only he gets a lot of questions about it. I'm sure Max is on the list, but I'm pretty sure he's tied up, and also, I couldn't see why you would leave a car that is that good."

It is to be noted that the Red Bull driver Verstappen won 19 of 22 races last year and is on his way to a third successive title in Saudi. He also won the season-opener in Bahrain recently. The Dutch driver has a contract at Red Bull until 2028.

It is&nbsp;believed that his contact includes release clauses linked to other key members of the team. At present, Verstappen&nbsp;clearly stated that he is content at Red Bull. Nonetheless, he was in the news lately after his father Jos Verstappen spoke against team boss Christian Horner, who was under investigation for inappropriate behaviour with a female employee (on Thursday, the team suspended the woman in question).

While Verstappen&nbsp;agreed that Hamilton's move, to Ferrari,&nbsp;has changed the landscape, however, he ruled out any change whatsoever shortly.

"Nobody would have seen that Lewis would move to Ferrari," Verstappen&nbsp;told the press on Thursday. "You never know in general life what happens, or comes to you, or happens around you or what might influence you. So you can never say 100% that that is how it is going to be... but I am very relaxed and very happy at the team and the performance is there, so there is no reason to leave," he added.

In addition, Verstappen&nbsp;reiterated support for his father -- for his remarks against Horner -- and said they were a team. "It’s me, my dad and (manager) Raymond (Vermeulen) altogether. And that will always be like that," the champion concluded.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has made a huge claim ahead of the forthcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which gets underway on March 9. Hamilton spoke about his arch-rival Max Verstappen and feels that there is a possibility that Mercedes, his current team whom he will leave for Ferrari in 2025, can try and acquire Verstappen's services.

Anything is possible: Lewis Hamilton makes BIG claim, does not rule out Max Verstappen's move to Mercedes

Red Bull risk being torn apart as a team and will 'explode' if Christian Horner stays as principal, the Daily Mail newspaper quoted the father of triple world champion Max Verstappen as saying on Saturday. Horner, 50, was cleared last week by an independent investigation into allegations of misconduct made by a female employee. The inquiry dominated the pre-season and Horner has remained in the spotlight after an email from an anonymous sender, purporting to contain evidence submitted to the investigation, was distributed to media and key figures in the sport.

"There is tension here while he remains in position," former F1 racer Verstappen told the British newspaper at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where his son dominated Saturday's season-opening race. "The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can't go on the way it is. It will explode. He is playing the victim, when he is the&nbsp;one&nbsp;causing the problems."

Horner could not be contacted immediately, with Verstappen's comments appearing at around 0100 on Sunday local time in Bahrain, and a team spokesman did not respond to a query. Asked after the race about the email, Horner told reporters he would not comment "on what motives whatever person may have for doing this. "I have the support of an incredible family, of an incredible wife, of an incredible team and everybody within that team and my focus is on going racing and winning races and doing the best that I can."

Verstappen senior also denied involvement in the anonymous email. "That wouldn't make sense. Why would I do that when Max is doing so well here?," he said. Verstappen has won the last three championships in a row and Saturday's victory was the 55th of his career, all of them with Red Bull.

Formula 1: Max Verstappen's father says Red Bull 'in danger of being torn apart' if Christian Horner stays

Max Verstappen won Saturday's season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix to give Red Bull a timely boost after a trying week for the world champions and team principal Christian Horner.

Verstappen shut out all the off-track speculation surrounding the Horner inquiry to lead home Sergio Perez for a crushing Red Bull 1-2.

Pole sitter Verstappen held off the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc to lead into the first corner, and it was business as usual for the Dutchman from there to the flag as he enjoyed the perfect start to his quest for a fourth consecutive world title.

In a statement of emphatic superiority, the 26-year-old Dutchman came home 22.5 seconds clear of Perez, who started from fifth, to ease some of the pressure on Horner and repeat his statement triumph last year.&nbsp;

By claiming the 33rd&nbsp;pole of his career, fastest lap and race win, Verstappen delivered the 12th&nbsp;‘hat-trick’ of his career leaving only the seven-time champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton ahead on 22 and 19 trebles respectively.

"That was simply lovely," Horner told his ace driver.

"To get pole, fastest lap, and a 1-2, a brilliant start to the year, thank you very much."&nbsp;

It was Verstappen’s 55th&nbsp;race victory and 99th&nbsp;podium finish as Red Bull dominated an uneventful race on a cold evening at Sakhir’s Bahrain International Circuit.

It also extended his run as championship leader to 40 races since the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix.&nbsp;

Carlos Sainz, whose seat at Ferrari is to be taken by Hamilton next year, finished a pugnacious third ahead of team-mate Leclerc, who profited from a rare error by Mercedes' George Russell in the closing laps.

Russell finished fifth ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris, Hamilton in the second Mercedes, Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren and the Aston Martin duo two-time champion Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.&nbsp;

<h2>Horner show of unity</h2>

After days of speculation, Red Bull boss Horner arrived hand in hand with his wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell – a show of unity following the release on Thursday of a cache of alleged messages from him to a female member of staff.

On track, the team showed no apparent distraction as Verstappen topped qualifying to secure his 33rd&nbsp;pole position – and lead the pack when the lights went out in cold, dry conditions in the desert.&nbsp;

The Dutchman made a clean start and led Leclerc, Russell and Perez through Turn One while Stroll spun and dropped to the back of the field after contact with Hulkenberg, who pitted for a new front wing and hard tyres. The entire field started on softs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On lap three, Russell passed Leclerc on the outside of Turn Four to take second and Norris seized sixth from Alonso, but Verstappen stretched his lead to two seconds.&nbsp;

By lap six, it was 4.8 seconds and clear that the Red Bull were in a race of their own. Perez endorsed this as he swept past Leclerc inside turn 11 for second on lap seven.&nbsp;

Hamilton, ninth, appeared to be stuck behind Alonso before squeezing through on lap 10, as Verstappen stretched his lead to 6.9 seconds.

The pit-stops began on lap 11 with Russell and Leclerc, with brake problems, going first of the leading group, re-joining 12th&nbsp;and 14th. Perez and Hamilton soon followed, all going for hards.&nbsp;

When Verstappen finally pitted he had bulit up a 31 second lead.&nbsp;

For Horner and Red Bull, it was as good as it gets, the Dutchman in command by seven seconds ahead of team-mate Perez and the feisty Sainz with Russell fourth after the first round of stops. Crisis? What crisis?

For Mercedes, problems were piling up – overheating engines, power-unit issues and then, for Hamilton, a broken seat, with 28 laps remaining while Alex Albon’s Williams flashed a message “car too hot’.

Verstappen came in for a final set of new softs at the end of lap 37 and re-joined with a 17-second cushion ahead of Perez. It was a commanding performance from the champion, decorated with a fastest lap of 1:32.608 as he cruised through the final 16 laps: a lap that was fully 1.5 seconds quicker than any other.

Formula 1: Red Bull boss Christian Horner cleared in 'inappropriate behaviour' case

Triple&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One&nbsp;champion Max Verstappen said on Wednesday the sport was "way over the limit" with the number of races on its calendar as he prepared to start a record 24-round season. The 26-year-old Red Bull driver starts on Saturday as clear favourite, chasing his fourth successive championship, but even with his streak of success has found the calendar expansion to be wearing thin.

"From my side I’ve said it before -- this is not sustainable," Verstappen told reporters at the Bahrain International Circuit. "I love racing a lot and I do it a lot also outside of&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One. "But, if people in the sport start shortening their careers because it’s too much I think that’s a shame and so hopefully of course we can have a look at that for the future."

Formula&nbsp;One’s popularity has soared in recent years, driven in part by the success of Netflix show 'Drive to Survive'. The sport’s commercial rights holders Liberty Media have capitalised by adding new venues in the Middle East, some returning classics in Europe and three races in America, with Miami and Las Vegas joining long-time fixture Austin.

Teams have begun to rotate personnel to cope with the demands of such a long calendar while pre-season testing this year was reduced to just three days.

Spain's double world champion Fernando Alonso, 42, a veteran of the sport who made his debut in 2001, echoed Verstappen and recalled the days when the calendar featured less than 20 races.

"When I started we had 16 races, then it was 18 at some point, and then I think when Liberty came it was like a message that we have 20&nbsp;one&nbsp;season and that was absolutely the limit, 20 races," said the Aston Martin driver. "And now we are up to 24 and this is not sustainable for the future. "Even the world champion thinks this is a little bit long, the season. "Imagine for the rest of us, we go to the races in the second half for nothing, there is no incentive to fight for anything."

Bahrain GP: Red Bull driver Max Verstappen says F1 is over the limit with 24-race calendar

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has&nbsp;been dealing with serious&nbsp;allegations levelled by a female employee about his conduct. The verdict regarding Horner's investigation is set to be out soon.

As per sources, who&nbsp;talked to Reuters,&nbsp;an announcement is expected from Red Bull's Salzburg-based Austrian parent company before the race&nbsp;at Sakhir, and possibly within the next 48 hours. It is to be noted that the allegations against Horner shocked many and an investigation into the sport's longest-serving principal&nbsp;has been ongoing since early January. However, details emerged to the public weeks later.

<h2>Not much is known about the allegations</h2>

Both Red Bull and the reigning champions have not opened up on what the allegations are. However, media reports have indicated that Horner is under the radar for inappropriate and controlling behaviour towards a female colleague.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been dealing with serious allegations levelled by a female employee about his conduct. Christian Horner investigation: Red Bull team principal's fate to be out before Bahrain Grand Prix

Red Bull will have plenty of questions hanging over them when&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One&nbsp;testing starts in Bahrain on Wednesday, with rivals eager to see how their cars stack up against Max Verstappen's and team boss Christian Horner fighting for his future. The dominant 2023 champions, with 21 wins in 22 races, launched their new RB20 car last week with some design features reminiscent of those tried and discarded by rivals Mercedes last season.

Some observers sensed all might not be as it seemed but Wednesday should provide an immediate answer to those doubts, even if the lap times may not mean much as teams work through various programmes.

"Lets see the car that rocks out on day&nbsp;one&nbsp;at Bahrain because I'm not sure it's going to be that (launch) car," former McLaren performance engineer and Aston Martin strategist Bernie Collins said in a Sky Sports F1 podcast. "This could be 'Oh, we were just having a joke'. So I'm highly suspicious.

"If they do rock up with that car it's a brave, brave move because they could have easily continued to develop the car they had and that would have been the safer bet," she said. "If they go with it they've clearly seen something that means they think they can beat their previous developed car."

Questions about Horner, who will be in Bahrain, will remain unanswered until the energy drink company completes an investigation into allegations made against him by a female employee. Horner has denied any wrongdoing.

PECKING ORDER

Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin are all hoping to be closer to Verstappen, chasing his fourth title in a row this season, but the real pecking order may not be apparent for some time. Seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton will meet the media for the first time since his switch to Ferrari in 2025 was announced and will also have a clearer idea of how competitive his Mercedes will be.

There will be plenty of interest in Visa Cash App RB, the renamed Red Bull-owned AlphaTauri team, who now have closer ties to the main Red Bull team and could also have a more competitive car. Teams have only three days of testing, with&nbsp;one&nbsp;car each, with the track time reduced as the championship expands to a record 24 races.

That means drivers have only a day and a half each on track before the opener on March 2, with the first two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia held on Saturdays to fit in with the start of Ramadan on March 10.

Aston Martin's double world champion Fernando Alonso said at the launch of his team's car that there should be more time available for testing and more cars on track.

"I don’t know why we don’t go with two cars because we are already in Bahrain and we’re racing the following week," said the Spaniard.

Questions hang over Red Bull before F1 testing in Bahrain

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said it was business as usual as a company inquiry into undisclosed allegations about his conduct hung over the&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One&nbsp;champions' 2024 car launch on Thursday. The Briton was as much in the spotlight as the shiny RB20 machine as he broke silence and faced the media for the first time since the emergence of accusations that threaten his future.

Taking centre stage at the Red Bull factory for a presentation celebrating the team's 20 years in&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One, with seven drivers' titles and six constructors' championships, Horner suggested the future looked bright. The elephant in the room was not ignored for long, with Horner carrying out television interviews and media sessions and making clear he was still planning to be around for the long term.

"I deny the allegations, for me it's business as normal, I'm confident in that. If I wasn't, I wouldn’t be here," the 50-year-old told reporters. "I don't want to talk about the process. My focus and commitment is to the people and to the team and making sure that we're in the best shape possible for the season ahead," added the sport's longest-serving principal. "You can see that we've got a car that looks a great evolution from last year and we're going to have some very competitive rivals that are looking to beat us. My focus is very much on Bahrain next week."

Testing starts on Feb. 21 before the March 2 season-opener in Bahrain. Red Bull won all but&nbsp;one&nbsp;of the races last season with Dutch driver Max Verstappen taking his third title in a row. Horner, who is married to former Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell, would not discuss the allegations against him or a hearing that took place last week, and reporters were warned against asking.

Media reports have indicated the complaint related to inappropriate behaviour of a controlling nature towards a female member of staff. The independent investigation was launched by Red Bull Austria, who have not disclosed where the complaint came from or what it was about. Sources have suggested the process could rumble on for some time.

Horner, who attended a shakedown of the new car behind closed doors at Silverstone&nbsp;on Tuesday, said he was "absolutely committed" to the team. Asked whether he expected to be in Bahrain, Horner replied: "I am confident in the process and working with the process deny absolutely any allegation that's been made against me."

He said he had continued going to work as usual and felt 'overwhelming' support. "Moments of uncertainty, it brings a team together and I've never seen a team more together or more supportive than it is," said the Briton. "Everybody's focused on&nbsp;one&nbsp;thing, which is the performance of that car to go out and defend both the world titles that we've worked so hard to achieve over the last couple of years. The car is what everyone&nbsp;is invested in."

Verstappen, speaking separately to reporters, said the team spirit was better than ever and his relationship with Horner unchanged. "We've achieved a lot of things together so that doesn't change suddenly." he said.
