&ldquo;Some years ago, the Calendar team started manually adding a broader set of cultural moments in a wide number of countries around the world. We got feedback that some other events and countries were missing &ndash; and maintaining hundreds of moments manually and consistently globally wasn&rsquo;t scalable or sustainable,&rdquo; the statement said, the report added.
&ldquo;So in mid-2024 we returned to showing only public holidays and national observances from timeanddate.com globally, while allowing users to manually add other important moments.&rdquo;
The company stated: &ldquo;Google continues to actively celebrate and promote cultural moments as a company in our products,&rdquo; and the change will not affect the future Google Doodles that feature artwork on the homepage during such holidays.

In its suit challenging the seizure, Swatch said its products "did not promote any sexual activity, but merely a fun and joyous expression of peace and love".

The Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday ruled the interior ministry must return the watches to Swatch within 14 days, the government's lawyer Sallehuddin Ali told AFP.

"The judge also said the prohibition order on the watches was only issued and gazetted in August 2023, after the seizures (of watches) in May, so at the time of the seizure, the applicant (Swatch) did not commit any offence." &nbsp;

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said his ministry will honour the court order.

"The home ministry must respect the decision, or else it would be viewed as contempt of court," he said at a press conference.

Asked if the ministry will file an appeal, Saifuddin said the government's legal team will "need to examine the basis of the judgement thoroughly" before deciding.

In Kentucky, the ruling was applauded by the state's GOP attorney general, Russell Coleman, who argued that the regulation would undermine equal opportunities for women.&nbsp;

"The judge’s order makes clear that the US Department of Education’s attempt to redefine ‘sex’ to include ‘gender identity’ is unlawful and beyond the agency’s regulatory authority,” Coleman said in an official statement.

About 150 unionised Starbucks stores in the United States will be going on strike on Friday as workers express their dissatisfaction with the coffee chain's policy regarding Pride decorations in stores. The union representing organised stores, Starbucks Workers United, alleges that Starbucks has restricted Pride Month decorations in certain locations, citing a "hypocritical treatment of LGBTQIA+ workers".&nbsp;Starbucks has vehemently denied these claims, as per media reports.

Starbucks Workers United announced on Twitter that around 3,500 employees will be participating in the strike over the next week. The union is calling attention to what they perceive as inconsistencies in Starbucks' responses based on internal documents and testimonies from store managers.

Starbucks clarified that store leaders have the autonomy to decorate their stores for Pride and other heritage months as long as the decorations adhere to safety guidelines. A Starbucks spokesperson emphasised the company's unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community and denied any changes to the policy.

“We unwaveringly support the LGBTQIA2+ community. There has been no change to any policy on this matter and we continue to encourage our store leaders to celebrate with their communities including for US Pride month in June,” the Starbucks spokesperson said and added, “We’re deeply concerned by false information that is being spread.”

The union countered Starbucks' response on Twitter, pointing to an article reporting Pride decor bans in approximately 100 locations across parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, which are more conservative regions. The union alleges that Starbucks is succumbing to pressure by removing Pride decorations.

About 150 unionised Starbucks stores in the United States will be going on strike on Friday as workers express their dissatisfaction with the coffee chain's policy regarding Pride decorations in stores. The union representing organised stores, Starbucks Workers United, alleges that Starbucks has restricted Pride Month decorations in certain locations, citing a "hypocritical treatment of LGBTQIA+ workers". Starbucks has vehemently denied these claims, as per media reports. Starbucks Workers United announced on Twitter that around 3,500 employees will be participating in the strike over the next week. The union is calling attention to what they perceive as inconsistencies in Starbucks' responses based on internal documents and testimonies from store managers. Starbucks' response Starbucks clarified that store leaders have the autonomy to decorate their stores for Pride and other heritage months as long as the decorations adhere to safety guidelines. The company claims to be unaware of any company-owned stores banning Pride decorations and pointed out that many locations have showcased their Pride decorations on social media. There has been no change to any policy on this matter and we continue to encourage our store leaders to celebrate with their communities including for US Pride month in June,” the Starbucks spokesperson said and added, “We’re deeply concerned by false information that is being spread.” Union's counterargument The union countered Starbucks' response on Twitter, pointing to an article reporting Pride decor bans in approximately 100 locations across parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, which are more conservative regions. The union alleges that Starbucks is succumbing to pressure by removing Pride decorations. Starbucks' progressive policies While Starbucks has a history of progressive policies for its employees, including extending full health benefits to same-sex partners in 1988 and providing health coverage for gender reassignment surgery in 2013, the company has faced criticism for cracking down on unionisation efforts. Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has been a vocal opponent of unions, stating that he doesn't believe unions have a place in Starbucks. The statute involves intentionally causing significant public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof. A police officer speaking to Newsweek confirmed the same, saying Atkins was not charged for reading the Bible verses. "He was not arrested for reading a bible verse. He was arrested for being disorderly. His volume was at a level that he was heckling a preplanned and permitted event. He was given an area he was allowed to protest in and was asked to keep the volume at a level that was not problematic or that was inciting public inconvenience," said the officer. A report by Fox News said that several Target locations throughout the country host enormous June Pride Month displays every year,&nbsp;

They kept merchandise this year ranging from "tuck friendly" bathing suits for transgender persons to mugs that proclaim "gender fluid".&nbsp;

However, some have criticised the retail giant for the displays, with children's products particularly angering many shoppers. &nbsp;

A Target insider told the media outlet that many locations, mainly in rural areas of the South, have relocated their Pride sections.&nbsp;

They want to escape the backlash that Bud Light has received in recent weeks after utilising a transgender influencer in an advertising effort.&nbsp;

The insider further noted that there were "emergency" calls on Friday, and several managers and district senior directors were urged to immediately close the Pride areas.&nbsp;

As quoted, a Target insider said, "We were given 36 hours, told to take all of our Pride stuff, the entire section, and move it into a section that’s a third the size. From the front of the store to the back of the store, you can’t have anything on mannequins and no large signage."&nbsp;

"We call our customers ‘guests,’ there is an outrage on their part. This year, it is just exponentially more than any other year," the insider further said.&nbsp;

"I think given the current situation with Bud Light, the company is terrified of a Bud Light situation," the insider added.&nbsp;

The insider also mentioned that Friday's call started with highlighting "how to deal with team member safety".&nbsp;

The insider said, "The call was super quick, it was 15 minutes. The first 10 minutes was about how to keep your team safe and not having to advocate for Target. The last five was, ‘Move this to the back, take down the mannequins and remove the signage.'"&nbsp;

The “Fly with Pride” plane is a special plane unveiled by Alaska Airlines to celebrate Pride Month and it witnessed a beautiful moment this week when a flight attendant went down on her knees to propose to her girlfriend. The moment took place around 30,000 feet up in the air with an airplane full of people cheering them. Veronica Rojas, a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines’ regional partner SkyWest, met Alejandra Moncayo on a flight almost two years ago and it was almost poetic that the couple got engaged mid-air on a special flight which was described as a “Pride delight” flight.

The airline shared a video of the proposal on social media which showed Rojas proposing over the telecom system in both English and Spanish. Rojas went down to her knee to propose to Moncayo and as she said yes, the other crew members as well as the passengers broke out in applause.

“I’ve always appreciated Alaska; how deeply involved they are in the LGBTQ+ community,” Rojas said. “All the love and support are just super overwhelming and amazing,” she added.

According to a statement from Alaska Airlines, Moncayo had similar plans when the flight landed. She was in talks with the airlines about proposing to Rojas at the end of the flight but with Rojas asking the question mid-air, the couple celebrated the moment when the flight landed.
