A rare <strong>photo of The Beatles</strong> has surfaced on the planet and we have <strong>Paul McCartney’s brother</strong> to thank for it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the photo, the band can be seen strumming their guitars in his room. There’s Paul McCartney with John Lennon and George Harrison in what is thought to be one of the earliest colour pictures ever taken of the Beatles.</p>

<p>The photograph, which has never been seen before, was <strong>Paul’s brother Mike McCartney</strong>, who took it in March 1958.</p>

<p>It shows Paul and George, both 15, and John, 17, rehearsing to perform at a wedding reception. George has his back to the camera, hence the name on the negative – George’s Back.<br />

<p>Interestingly, Mike stumbled upon the photo while going through old files for a new book. He said he was 14 when he took the picture – along with a well-known second image, largely assumed to be the first colour picture of the band – at his Auntie Gin’s house in Huyton, Liverpool, at the reception for her 19-year-old son, Ian Harris.</p>

<p>Dressed in grey jackets, white shirts and black ties, the band, then named The Quarrymen, appear to be rehearsing, with Paul open-mouthed, presumably mid-song.</p>

<p>Mike said: 'My filing system is non-existent, I’m always coming across lost drawings and pictures. I was going through some old files and came across a couple of negs and I realised that, because the other one was a better picture, I had put this one to one side.</p>

<p>'I realised, "Oh my God, I must have taken this one earlier because there they are rehearsing, George has his back to the camera".'<br />

<p>Recorded this year in Sussex in southern England, McCartney III is mostly built from McCartney’s live takes on vocals and guitar or piano, overlaying his bass playing and drumming.</p>

<p>It joins two other albums - McCartney and McCartney II - created single-handedly by the 78-year-old at critical times in his life, in 1970 and 1980, when he was seeking a creative rebirth.</p>

<p>“I was living lockdown life on my farm with my family and I would go to my studio every day. I had to do a little bit of work on some film music and that turned into the opening track and then when it was done I thought what will I do next?” said McCartney.</p>

<p>He turned to half-finished fragments he’d created over the years.</p>

<p>“Each day I’d start recording with the instrument I wrote the song on and then gradually layer it all up, it was a lot of fun. It was about making music for yourself rather than making music that has to do a job. So, I just did stuff I fancied doing. I had no idea this would end up as an album.”</p>

<p>McCartney’s most recent album is 2018’s Egypt Station, and the musician was still touring last year.</p>

<p>In a new video released by former Beatle singer Paul McCartney titled ‘Who Cares’, he can be seen shaking a leg with Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hoping to inspire youngsters to stand up to bullying, the new music video has an all black and white set alongside harlequin-like figures who torment the actress before she and the singer make their escape in his car.</p>

<p>The veteran singer-songwriter has also joined hands with non-profit organisation Creative Visions to launch the #WhoCaresIDo campaign, inspired by a line in the song - “Who Cares About You, I do”.</p>

<p>Commenting on his song, Paul wrote on his website: “My hope is that if there are kids being bullied — and there are ... maybe by listening to this song and watching this video, they might just think it’s not as bad,” McCartney said on his website.</p>

<p>“That it’s the kind of thing you can just stand up to and laugh off and get through.”</p>

Beatles' McCartney announces new tour leg in US

<p>Since the dawn of rock &#39;n&#39; roll, promoters have strived to create the ultimate festival, delivering the perfect lineup and atmosphere that will live on in fan lore.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This weekend will mark what will likely become the highest-grossing music festival of all time as six acts who form rock&#39;s canon &mdash;&nbsp;the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, The Who, Bob Dylan and Neil Young &mdash;&nbsp;play in the desert of southern California.</p>

<p>Called Desert Trip, the three-day concert starting&nbsp;Friday&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;to be repeated with an identical schedule the following weekend &mdash;&nbsp;is driven by an unstated question: When will fans have the chance to see the acts again?</p>

<p>While the rock greats showcased at Desert Trip are active and appear in good health, all of them are septuagenarians with the sole exception of Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, who is a youthful 69.</p>

<p>The Who, who in 1965 spoke for baby boomers with the anthem &quot;My Generation&quot;, may be the first to bow out as the group has said its ongoing tour will be its last.</p>

<p>For wonkish music fans, Desert Trip will be a deep historic experience, bringing together both the Rolling Stones and McCartney of The Beatles &mdash;&nbsp;&nbsp;the two British mega-bands who defined rock in the 1960s with their rival visions.</p>

<p>Desert Trip will also mark the first time that McCartney and Dylan have shared a bill after years of off-stage encounters,&nbsp;most famously in 1964 at a New York hotel, where the folk icon was said to have introduced The Fab Four to marijuana, the effects of which were soon musically evident.</p>

<p><strong>Paying a premium&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>Set to draw 150,000 people over the two weekends, Desert Trip is the fruit of the masterful booking skills of the promoters behind Coachella, the lucrative festival that takes place each April at the same venue, a polo ground in the city of Indio.</p>

<p>While young revelers have driven a boom in festivals, Desert Trip has tapped into a more senior audience, so much that online detractors have dubbed it &quot;Oldchella&quot;.</p>

<p>Desert Trip sold tickets for up to $1,599 for three-day reserved seats with access to a premium lounge. The festival is also offering special dining packages with food and drink from leading California restaurants and bars.</p>

<p>&quot;It&#39;s kind of setting a new boundary for how much an audience will absorb in terms of the ticket price and what people are willing to pay for the finer things in life,&quot; said Gary Bongiovanni, president and editor-in-chief of the live-music industry site Pollstar.</p>

<p>&quot;Everybody ate the same $5 hot dog, and that&#39;s not the case anymore,&quot; he said.</p>

<p>Bongiovanni said that Desert Trip has proven to be an extraordinary success, with tickets quickly snapped up.</p>

<p>Less successful have been brokers or individual gamblers who bought tickets in hopes of reselling them at a profit.</p>

<p>The cheapest three-day tickets &mdash;&nbsp;$399 face value for standing in the back &mdash;&nbsp;were going for half that on resale sites amid an apparent glut.</p>

<p><strong>Who&#39;s missing?&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>Few would contest that Desert Trip&#39;s six acts are among the most influential in rock. Taken together they have grossed more than $3.1 billion in ticket sales since 2000, according to Pollstar&#39;s data.</p>

Since the dawn of rock 'n' roll, promoters have strived to create the ultimate festival, delivering the perfect lineup and atmosphere that will live on in fan lore. This weekend will mark what will likely become the highest-grossing music festival of all time as six acts who form rock's canon — the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, The Who, Bob Dylan and Neil Young — play in the desert of southern California. Called Desert Trip, the three-day concert starting Friday — to be repeated with an identical schedule the following weekend — is driven by an unstated question: When will fans have the chance to see the acts again? While the rock greats showcased at Desert Trip are active and appear in good health, all of them are septuagenarians with the sole exception of Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, who is a youthful 69. The Who, who in 1965 spoke for baby boomers with the anthem "My Generation", may be the first to bow out as the group has said its ongoing tour will be its last. For wonkish music fans, Desert Trip will be a deep historic experience, bringing together both the Rolling Stones and McCartney of The Beatles — the two British mega-bands who defined rock in the 1960s with their rival visions. Paying a premium Set to draw 150,000 people over the two weekends, Desert Trip is the fruit of the masterful booking skills of the promoters behind Coachella, the lucrative festival that takes place each April at the same venue, a polo ground in the city of Indio. While young revelers have driven a boom in festivals, Desert Trip has tapped into a more senior audience, so much that online detractors have dubbed it "Oldchella". Desert Trip sold tickets for up to $1,599 for three-day reserved seats with access to a premium lounge. The festival is also offering special dining packages with food and drink from leading California restaurants and bars. "It's kind of setting a new boundary for how much an audience will absorb in terms of the ticket price and what people are willing to pay for the finer things in life," said Gary Bongiovanni, president and editor-in-chief of the live-music industry site Pollstar.
