While the BCCI insisted on bringing in a neutral venue to host all India matches, reports from Pakistan suggest that the PCB is unwilling to agree to the hybrid model; in their response, the PCB is preparing to boycott playing India across tournaments irrespective of FTP commitments.

"I discussed this with them and my team, and our stance is clear: they need to give us in writing any objections they may have. Until now, no discussion of the hybrid model has happened, nor are we prepared to accept one. The Indian media are reporting it, but no formal communication has reached the PCB," board chairman Naqvi said on Friday.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, reputed Pakistan cricket journalist and expert Nauman Niaz took to social media (X) to inform everyone of the latest developments.&nbsp;

Situated in the Punjab province, Lahore is geographically the closest city to India with an international cricket stadium, providing flexibility to the Indian team to travel back to their homeland within a few minutes, in case Rohit Sharma’s men disagree on staying in Pakistan.

Lahore has also been proposed to host the final of the Champions Trophy further helping the Indian team to stay in proximity to their homeland in case they reach the final.

The Indian cricket team has not travelled to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup as diplomatic relations between the nations hit low after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

The PCB is determined to host the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan thereby avoiding a hybrid model which was in use when Pakistan was the host of the 2023 Asia Cup. The model allowed India to play its matches in Sri Lanka while other nations played in Pakistan.

The proposal further adds the curtain-raiser clash will be hosted in Karachi between hosts Pakistan and Australia. India will kick start their campaign against Bangladesh in Lahore on 20th February while playing New Zealand on 23rd February. The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will take place on March 1 in Lahore.

Considering India’s chances of reaching the final, the showpiece contest could take place on March 9 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. India’s clash against New Zealand could be moved to Rawalpindi if broadcasters request, added a PCB source while speaking to WION.

In a video doing rounds on social media, journalist&nbsp;Javed Iqbal, asked Masood, “You have said you will avail the offer of captaincy until it is on the table. But isn’t there some drive from your conscience that you have lost, aren’t performing well, and should leave it?”&nbsp;

To which, the Test skipper looked at the PCB’s director of media and communications, Sami ul Hasan, who interrupted the conversation and defused the tension with some stern words. He discontinued the presser and openly called out the journalist, asking him to be respectful while questioning the Pakistan Test captain.

“Thank you for all your questions and support. One last request: Pakistan’s captain is sitting here, absolutely ask your questions, but please show your respect,” Hasan said.

“Particularly I’m referring to Javed, because not the appropriate way of asking the Pakistan captain the question that you asked,” he continued.
