The Times of India quoted an officer as saying, "It is possible that he was loaned by Pakistan special forces, like Special Service Group (SSG,) to LeT."
Musa's background came to light following the interrogation of 15 Kashmiri over ground workers (OGWs) who are suspected of helping the terrorists. Officials believe that these workers provided logistical and reconnaissance support to terrorists.&nbsp;
As per the report, a senior officer said that the revelation about Musa&rsquo;s Pakistan Army background hints at the involvement of Pakistan&rsquo;s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the Pahalgam terror attack. The ISI was also reportedly involved in other attacks.

One of them is the October 2024 terror attacks at Gagangir, Ganderbal, in which six non-locals and a doctor were killed. The second one is the attack in Buta Pathri, Baramulla, in which two Army personnel and two Army porters lost their lives.

The investigation has revealed the role being played by a local network of OGWs and terror facilitators in South Kashmir in spreading terror in the valley. These people provide the terrorists with food, shelter, hiding places and transportation of weapons. They helped them carry out detailed reconnaissance of the attack site and identify the hiding places before and after the attack.&nbsp;
<h2>SSG likely loaned Musa to unleash terror attacks in J&amp;K</h2>
According to TOI, Musa currently works with Pakistan-based banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). He was sent to Jammu and Kashmir to unleash terror on non-locals and the security forces. He was a part of all three attacks.

Sushant, the elder brother of Prasant, has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime and Economic Offence police station in Balasore claiming that some people started a fake fundraising drive on social media platforms and are collecting money in the name of helping his family.

For those of us who have watched the arc of terrorism in Kashmir bend and mutate over decades, this attack fits into a pattern: a convergence of diplomatic disruption, ideological provocation, and asymmetric warfare.
<h2>Pattern of provocative timing</h2>
Terror in Kashmir rarely occurs in a vacuum. It has historically been tethered to moments of geopolitical significance&mdash;precisely timed to undercut India&rsquo;s diplomatic advances, Kashmir&rsquo;s economic progress, or to create strategic diversions.&nbsp;
Before delving into what happened this week, a refresher from 2019 is needed.

On February 14, 2019, as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) was on a tour of Pakistan and scheduled to visit India, Pulwama was set ablaze&mdash;40 Indian paramilitary personnel were martyred in an attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group long fostered by Pakistan&rsquo;s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The optics were unmistakable. MBS, who had called India a &ldquo;strategic partner,&rdquo; was compelled to truncate his trip.
Now, six years later, history appears to have repeated itself. On April 22, 2025, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting Riyadh to deepen strategic ties with Saudi Arabia&mdash;a country that is key to India&rsquo;s West Asia outreach&mdash;gunfire once again echoed in the Kashmir Valley. PM Modi&rsquo;s visit, like MBS&rsquo;s in 2019, was abruptly cut short.
Coincidence? Hardly. These attacks are deliberate acts of political signalling.
<h2>Pakistan&rsquo;s strategic messaging through violence</h2>
Just days before the Pahalgam massacre, Pakistan&rsquo;s Army Chief General Asif Munir delivered a chilling address. He declared Kashmir to be Pakistan&rsquo;s &ldquo;jugular vein,&rdquo; invoking the discredited Two-Nation Theory&mdash;an ideological relic from 1947 that still fuels Pakistan&rsquo;s irredentist obsession with Kashmir. This speech, laced with jingoism and cloaked in religious zeal, ended up as a not-so-subtle rallying cry for jihadist proxies.

We must widen the aperture of intelligence cooperation with Gulf partners, enhance surveillance along infiltration routes, and continue surgical precision operations against active terrorists. Equally important is our information warfare&mdash;naming and shaming Pakistan&rsquo;s role at global forums, diplomatically isolating it, and exposing the terror-industrial complex it has built over decades.

For those of us who have watched the arc of terrorism in Kashmir bend and mutate over decades, this attack fits into a pattern: a convergence of diplomatic disruption, ideological provocation, and asymmetric warfare. Pattern of provocative timing Terror in Kashmir rarely occurs in a vacuum. It has historically been tethered to moments of geopolitical significance—precisely timed to undercut India’s diplomatic advances, Kashmir’s economic progress, or to create strategic diversions. Before delving into what happened this week, a refresher from 2019 is needed. He declared Kashmir to be Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” invoking the discredited Two-Nation Theory—an ideological relic from 1947 that still fuels Pakistan’s irredentist obsession with Kashmir. Indian intelligence reveals around 100 terrorists positioned in 32 launch pads facing Jammu, with another 35 across 10 launch pads opposite Kashmir. This is the second such Hamas visit, with the first coming on Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th February 2025. This indicates a sinister attempt at global terror networking, posing threats not only to India but also to regional and international stability.

This genuine grassroots rejection highlights the failure of General Munir&rsquo;s attempt to portray terrorist violence as indigenous resistance.
India&rsquo;s strategic preparedness and global diplomatic outreach must now converge into coordinated international action. Presenting irrefutable evidence of both ISI-TRF and ISI-Hamas coordination at international forums, including FATF and the United Nations, is imperative. India should robustly advocate for stringent global sanctions against Pakistan&rsquo;s military and intelligence establishment, particularly targeting General Munir, for orchestrating state-sponsored terrorism.

The crackdown on terror continued in Jammu and Kashmir as authorities dismantling the terrorist infrastructure blew up the house of another suspected terrorist in Shopian on Saturday.&nbsp; In the latest operation, the house of Adnan Shafi, an active Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was blown up in Zainapora area of Shopian district. Earlier in the day, the residence of Farooq Ahmad Tadwa, currently based out of Pakistan, in Kalaroos area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir was bombed by the authorities.

 Properties linked to other terrorists were also targeted by authorities. Among them were the houses of Adil Ahmad Thokar from Thokerpoora in Anantnag district, Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh from Murran in Pulwama, Asif Ahmad Sheikh from Tral, Shahid Ahmad Kuttay from Chotipora in Shopian and Zahid Ahmad Ganie from Matalhama in Kulgam.

The houses of seven terrorists and their associates have been razed in the past 48 hours, and officials warned that similar action will be taken against others involved in terror activities. &ldquo;This decisive action of J&amp;K Police aims to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and taking legal action against individuals engaged in such anti-national and criminal activities,&rdquo; the police spokesman said.

Raids were carried out at more than 60 places on Saturday in Srinagar to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem, said a J&amp;K Police spokesman.
The raids were carried out to seize weapons, documents, digital devices, etc. with the objective of evidence collection and intelligence gathering to detect and deter any conspiratorial or terrorist activity, said the police.

&ldquo;Any individual found furthering the agenda of violence, disruption, or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences under the law,&rdquo; the official warned.
