It is pertinent to note that after departing or rather forced out of Twitter, Zatko filed a whistleblower complaint, criticising the micro-blogging platform's data security practices. Meanwhile, Musk's attorney's have asked the court to delay the five-day trial that starts on October 17 so that they could investigate claims made by Zatko, also known as "Mudge", that Twitter hid weaknesses in its security and data privacy. As reported by WION, this is not the first time that Elon Musk has used a previous Twitter employee and their credentials to tank the deal. In a court filing, Musk had submitted the names of 22 data custodians whose documents he wanted to review. One of them included former General Manager of Consumer Product Kayvon Beykpour who was fired by Twitter in May. Read more: Twitter ordered to submit documents to Elon Musk from a fired employee regarding bot accounts Musk needed Beykpour's documents to calculate the number of spam and bot accounts. Of the 22 names submitted by Musk, the Delaware Court of Chancery only granted him access to Beykpour's records. Prior to making the severance deal as another reason to quit the deal, Musk has been using the bot and spam accounts as a reason to not go ahead with the deal. The eccentric billionaire continues to claim that Twitter has close to 20 per cent bot accounts, as opposed to the five per cent that the company claims. Musk announced in July that he was suspending the deal agreement, alleging Twitter had concealed information about these accounts. Twitter sued Musk to complete the transaction and has claimed that the issue is unrelated to the deal with Musk. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

The war over gas is brewing between European Union and Russia. European Commission Chief Ursula Von Der Leyen has proposed putting a price cap on Russian energy imports.

According to a draught set of regulations seen by Reuters and driven by EU parliamentarians worried about the state of human rights in the Chinese province of Xinjiang, products created using forced labour or those imported into the 27-nation European Union will be prohibited.

UK: From Queen's humour to horse riding skills

You may know Queen Elizabeth II for several reasons, but did you know that she was known to be Britain’s first high-tech monarch? The Queen was more tech-savvy than you could imagine. She was an enthusiastic advocate of technology, and there are several reasons to believe so.

Her coronation in 1953 was the first ever to be televised. She was an early adopter of the internet. In 1976, she sent her first email when visiting the Royal signals and radar establishment in Malvern, England.

It’s reported that she never wrote her emails herself but dictated them. British computer scientist Peter Kirsetin is the man who actually helped the queen in setting up her account in 1976 or rather say, he is the one who put the Queen of England on the internet.

Her username was also quite interesting – “HME2”, which stands for Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Her interest in technology was not just limited to sending emails, in 1997, she launched the first version of the royal family’s website, years before some major media publications in the UK decided to go online.

In December 2007, she launched the royal family‘s YouTube channel, the channel today has 973,000 subscribers. Many of you would be surprised to know, but she was no stranger to social media. She used both Twitter and Instagram accounts as part of the royal family. In 2014, the Queen sent a tweet from the @Britishmonarchy Twitter account in front of a live audience. She had posted to the ‘British monarchy’ Twitter account, which was later renamed, today the account is called ‘The Royal Family.’

She tweeted, “It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.”

Despite some of them having been granted asylum in other nations, the Tajikistani authorities are apparently gathering up Afghan refugees and forcing them to cross the border back into Afghanistan.

According to reports from Tajikistan's 10,000-strong Afghan refugee community, recent round-ups of Afghan families who have sought asylum in the nation since the Taliban's takeover in August 2021 have resulted in people being picked up off the street and homes being searched.

The Tajikistani government has been urged to halt the forced deportations by the UNHCR, the UN organisation for refugees. It is unclear why they are doing this or what their strategy is; up until a few weeks ago, the Tajikistani government was working with the UNHCR to house and resettle Afghans who were escaping the rule of the Taliban.

While statistics on recent Tajikistan deportations are not yet available, the UN has documented a case of five Afghans being forced to return on August 23. In spite of UNHCR's efforts to stop the deportations, they included "a family consisting of three children and their mother, [and] were deported to Afghanistan through the Panji Poyon border gate in southern Tajikistan," the UN agency said.

According to Afghans in Tajikistan who spoke to the Guardian, the number of people being forcibly deported back into Afghanistan amounts in the hundreds, and the number of forced deportations has been rising over the previous two weeks. They claimed that many Afghan refugees were being sent back without passports or other forms of identification, leaving them on their own and unable to travel to a place of safety.

Tajikistan ‘deporting Afghan refugees’ despite being granted asylum in other countries

According to a significant study, the climate catastrophe has brought the globe dangerously close to many "disastrous" tipping points.

It demonstrates that five perilous tipping thresholds may have already been crossed as a result of the 1.1 degrees C global warming brought on by human activity to date.

These include the abrupt melting of carbon-rich permafrost, the collapse of a major current in the north Atlantic, and the loss of Greenland's ice cap, all of which will result in significant sea level rises.

Four of the five tipping points go from being feasible to likely at 1.5 degrees C of heating, the minimum rise now anticipated, according to the research. Another five tipping points become likely at 1.5 degrees C, including modifications to huge northern forests and the disappearance of practically all alpine glaciers.

The researchers discovered evidence for 16 tipping points in total, the last six of which, in the scientists' estimations, would need to be triggered by global warming of at least 2 degrees C. The tipping points would occur throughout periods of time ranging from a few years to hundreds of years.

The researchers came to the conclusion that beyond 1C of global warming, "the Earth may have left a 'safe' climate state," with the whole history of human civilization has evolved in temperatures lower than this. When one tipping point is crossed, it frequently causes cascades by setting off subsequent ones. However, as this is currently under investigation and was left out of the analysis, there may be minimal risk.

The Amazon rainforest, the Greenland ice sheet, the Gulf Stream currents, and what scientists refer to as the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation are all showing signs of instability recently. Losing these ecosystems would have "profound" effects on the climate and biodiversity of the entire planet (Amoc).

According to a recent assessment by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, with 2C of global warming, the chance of setting off climate tipping points increases.

More than 200 prior studies on historical tipping points, climatic measurements, and modelling studies were reviewed for the analysis, which was published in the journal Science. When a temperature threshold is crossed, a climate system reaches a tipping point that cannot be reversed, even if global warming stops.

The collapse of the Greenland, west Antarctic, and two portions of the east Antarctic ice sheets, the partial and complete collapse of Amoc, Amazon dieback, permafrost collapse, and the loss of winter sea ice in the Arctic are the nine global tipping points that have been identified.
