Education indeed plays an important role and is one of the parameters to mark one’s success or talent.

The incident happened in the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh in the Triva Kotwali neighbourhood, where stressing the “importance of education” and “good marks,” the groom, Sonu, told the bride’s father that her poor performance is the reason why he is calling off the wedding.

However, contrary to this reason, the bride’s father said that the groom called off the wedding because the dowry wasn’t enough for them.

All of this happened while a ritual in which women from the groom's family were participating with the bride. After the ceremony, the groom decided to call off the marriage.

Following this heartbreaking decision, Soni’s father went to the local police station to file a complaint and reported his daughter’s situation. In his complaint, the father said that he had fixed the marriage of his daughter with one Sonu, son of Ram Shankar.

He added that till now, he had spent some Rs 60,000 ($763) on the wedding including a demand for a gold ring for the groom worth Rs 15,000 ($181.7). Later, the groom’s family began demanding dowry. After hearing that the bride’s father cannot afford to provide any dowry, the groom called off the wedding, stating he was dissatisfied with her results in academics.

Chinese tycoon Guo Wengui was arrested on Wednesday by New York Police over a billion-dollar fraud. He is also wanted in Beijing. Wengui, along with one of his business partners Je Kin Ming, is accused of money laundering, bank fraud and security fraud. As per media reports, he was handcuffed and interrogated for over an hour. Both Wengui and his partner have been accused of raising $1 billion from thousands of online followers who thought they were funding media businesses and an exclusive membership club. Now the real question is what happens next? Here's everything you need to know about the tycoon. Scroll below.

Who is Guo Wengui?

Guo fled China in 2014 and settled in the United States following allegations of corruption. Since then, he has been in New York where he became a vocal critic of the Chinese regime, especially on social media, where he claimed that many Chinese living in the US are actually secret agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

He also had an alliance with Steve Bannon who was one of Trump’s aides and vocal advocates for his 2016 false claims of elections.

Guo, along with Bannon and others, developed ‘Gettr,’ a right-wing alternative to Twitter. The app was developed out of a Chinese-language social media network tied to Guo called ‘Getome.’

Family and net worth:

Guo was born in Shanghai, China. He is the seventh child of eight children.

He married Yue Qingzhi in 1985.

According to Freshers live, Guo has a net worth of $1.1 billion.

Accusations Guo faces:

The Chinese businessman is accused to have participated in an elaborate effort to defraud his online supporters against the Chinese government for over $1 billion.

Among his alleged fraudulent schemes was soliciting $262 million in investments in a cryptocurrency ecosystem called the “Himalaya Exchange.”

He was also accused of soliciting money in a private club membership programme called G|CLUBS, where he attracted some $250 million in investments.

What happens next?

Guo currently is in federal custody and faces up to 20 years in jail if found guilty. He pleaded not guilty on Wednesday and was ordered to be detained without bail.

His arrest represents a major setback for the Bannon-linked MAGA [Make America Great Again] right, with one of his funders facing a criminal indictment and having over half of a billion in assets freezed.

Steve Bannon recently has become one of the major right-wing players through his live stream “War Room Programme,” where he holds guests to promote his Trumpist vision of the world. It also has a song named “Take Down The CCP.”

Wengui, along with one of his business partners Je Kin Ming, is accused of money laundering, bank fraud and security fraud. As per media reports, he was handcuffed and interrogated for over an hour. The app was developed out of a Chinese-language social media network tied to Guo called ‘Getome.’ Family and net worth: Guo was born in Shanghai, China. He is the seventh child of eight children. He married Yue Qingzhi in 1985. According to Freshers live, Guo has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Among his alleged fraudulent schemes was soliciting $262 million in investments in a cryptocurrency ecosystem called the “Himalaya Exchange.” He was also accused of soliciting money in a private club membership programme called G|CLUBS, where he attracted some $250 million in investments.

Tata Consultancy Services or TCS has named Kirthi Krithivasan as the company's new CEO and MD after former position holder Rajesh Gopinath resigned earlier this week unexpectedly. Kirthivasan is a familiar face and has served the company the same as Gopinath. The company in its statement said that he will be responsible for planning and executing the company's growth strategies, improving financial performances and market positioning. But who is K Kirthivasan, where and at what position was he working earlier, what's his educational qualification and why did Gopinath resign after a 22-year tenure? Here's everything you need to know about the two:

Who is Kirthi Krithivasan?

Having a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and a Master's Degree from IIT Kanpur, Kirthivasan is one of the most renowned faces of the industry and at TCS as well. He joined TCS back in 1989, Money Control reported.

Previous to this, he worked as the President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group, one of the company’s largest and most prominent verticals in terms of revenue contribution, deals, and business. Krithivasan was also then responsible for 35-40 per cent of TCS’ revenue.

He had also helped the company with many key clients with digital transformation, change in management cycle acceleration, and in achieving value beyond cost optimisation, and establishing IT programme governance.

Krithivasan is also a member of the Board of Directors of the supervisory board of TCS Technology Solutions AG, TCS Iberoamerica, as well as TCS Ireland.

Why did Rajesh Gopinath resigned after 22 years?

As per the company's statement, former CEO and MD Rajesh Gopinathan resigned on March 16 after a stellar career for 22 years to pursue 'other interests' and will step down in September this year.

The company in its statement said, "We wish to inform you that Mr Rajesh Gopinathan (DIN: 06365813), Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services Limited (“the Company”) has tendered his resignation, which will be effective from the close of business hours on September 15, 2023."

Following his resignation, Gopinathan said that he enjoyed his tenure at TCS. According to Economic Times, he said, "It has been a pleasure working closely with Chandra, who has mentored me through this entire period. The last six years of leading this iconic organisation have been most enriching and fulfilling, adding over $10 billion in incremental revenues and over $70 billion increase in market capitalisation."
