<p>Both, in no time, completed a 200-plus run stand for the first wicket, putting Pakistan’s back against the wall. In the meantime, Gurbaz completed his fifth ODI hundred, becoming the second-quickest batter (in 23 innings) to achieve this feat.</p>

<p>Leg-spinner Usama Mir broke the 227-run stand for the first wicket, and with that, Pakistan did put brakes on Afghans’ fast-paced innings. Gurbaz departed next on a well-made 151, as Shaheen Afridi picked two wickets to help Pakistan restrict their opponents to 300 for five in 20 overs. With no wickets in seven overs, Rauf was Pakistan’s most expensive bowler, conceding 48 runs at 6.90.</p>

<p>Pakistan, in their chase, lost Fakhar Zaman inside the first 10 overs, with man-in-form Imam-ul-Haq and Captain Babar Azam stuck around to keep Pakistan afloat in the game. Both completed their respective fifties, however, Imam got out to Mujeeb on 91.</p>

<p>In between, Pakistan lost wickets in cluster, much like the previous game, with Babar Azam falling on 53.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan kept Pakistan in the chase with odd boundaries, but Afghanistan looked in control during the fag end of the innings.</p>

<p>Two back-to-back wickets during the last four overs, including the big one of Iftikhar Ahmed, put Pakistan in a losing position. Having said that, the tide turned in the penultimate over after Shadab Khan changed the equation with some fireworks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Fazalhaq Farooqi, on the first ball of the final over, pulled off a Mankad to dismiss dangerous Shadab Khan on 48, leaving only bowlers to chase the remaining 11 runs.</p>

Adding the crowd is sure to even clap for their efforts, Shoaib said,</p>

<p>“Indian people and Indian crowds are always appreciative. I absolutely agree with you. And that’s why I say to Shaheen Shah or Naseem Shah or the battery of Pakistan fast bowlers that they should go to India and enjoy playing in front of packed Indian crowds. The crowd will clap for them, and even if they don’t, they will surely appreciate the effort,” the Rawalpindi Express said.</p>

<h2>‘Pressure on India,&nbsp;we have nothing to lose’</h2>

<p>Speaking on the high-octane clash, a platform where so far India has reigned supreme over Pakistan across all meetings, Shoaib said with Indian media putting so much pressure on them ahead of the start, Pakistan is likely to enter the contest as underdogs with no pressure at all on their back.</p>

<p>“What will go in our favour is that the Indian media will put enormous pressure on the Indian team. For them, the Indian team can’t lose, and if they lose, God help them. This builds humongous pressure on India, and it means we are designated underdogs. Frankly, all the pressure is on India, and we have nothing to lose."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"All our boys need to do is play their hearts out, and beat India in India. Without much pressure and with all the pressure on India, they can surely do so. Go to India, and beat India. That’s what we should do rather than saying we won’t travel et cetera,” he said.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, India and Pakistan will face off on September 2 in Asia Cup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was too attached to my mom. When I was 12, I left home because of cricket. I shifted to Lahore. When my debut came, she called me a day before and I told her, 'tomorrow is my debut'. She didn't use to watch TV; she didn't understand cricket. But I told her, 'You must watch the game tomorrow because I'm playing, I'll be live on TV'.<br />
"She was so happy, she said she would come to Lahore to watch the game. When I woke up, the management came to me and said, 'your mom has passed away'," Naseem said.</p>

<p>Elaborating further, Naseem&nbsp;said not only was he affected mentally by this incident, but he also struggled outside of it too. Revealing that he was under medication after his mother's demise, Shah said,&nbsp;</p>

<p>"For the next six to eight months, I struggled so much. No one thinks about what's going on inside you. I used to have a lot of medicines, I saw my mom everywhere. I used to think about her a lot. Whenever you play for Pakistan, everyone expects performances from you. I had a lot of injuries during that time as well, so it was a tough time. I learned from it, though. I'm stronger now. My (Pakistan) debut was the toughest day of my life. I can manage when I'm not performing well now, because I know how tough it was."</p>

<p>Naseem is currently nursing a shoulder injury and is out of the third Test against England in Karachi, starting on Saturday, December 17th.</p>

'Did others come to sell pickles?': Ex-Pak spinner takes a dig at Shaheen-less pace attack after 1st Test loss

<p>Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on Sunday evening (September 11). Locking horns in the marquee clash, at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, Sri Lanka did the unthinkable by defending a score at the venue -- which is favourable for teams batting second -- to beat Babar Azam &amp; Co. by 23 runs. With this win, the Islanders not only made a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition -- from next month in Australia -- but also went on to claim their sixth Asia Cup title overall.</p>

<p>Talking about the contest, Pakistan opted to bowl first and reduced the Lankans to 58 for 5 in 8.5 overs. From thereon, Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 71 and all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga's 21-ball 36 propelled them to a fighting 170 for 6 in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan only managed 147 all-out in 20 overs with Md Rizwan scoring a 49-ball 55 and Iftikhar Ahmad's 31-ball 32. <p>Pakistan have dropped seamer Hasan Ali and replaced him with teenage fast bowler Naseem Shah in their Twenty20 squad for the Asia Cup, which begins in Dubai on Aug. 27. Naseem has played 13 tests but the 19-year-old pacer is yet to play a limited-overs international for Pakistan. He has also been preferred for a three-match one-day series in the Netherlands preceding the Asia Cup.</p>

<p>Naseem, 19, drafted into the Pakistan side in place of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, hurt the tourists in the final session, dismissing a well-set Steve Smith for 59 and Travis Head for 26 as Australia reached 232-5 at close.</p>

<p>All-rounder Cameron Green was unbeaten on 20 for Australia with wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey eight not out.</p>

<p>After their shaky start, it was opener Usman Khawaja who led Australia's fightback with a resilient 91, adding to scores of 97, 160 and 44 not out in his last three innings in his country of birth.</p>

<p>The left-handed Khawaja, who added 136 for the third wicket with Smith, appeared set for his 12th test hundred before Pakistan captain Babar Azam completed a one-handed catch at slip off spinner Sajid Khan.</p>

<p>Khawaja said some deliveries from the spinners were already gripping and turning and he felt a first-innings total of close to 350 would be good for Australia.</p>

<p>"This one (wicket) is probably some of the toughest to score runs on," the 35-year-old told reporters, adding that he physically struggled during his knock on a hot day.</p>
