The artwork, which is a part of Jeff Koons' well-known "balloon dog" series, was worth $42,000. Several collectors believed the incident—which happened at a VIP preview at Art Wynwood in Miami—was performance art or a planned stunt.

The artwork was shown alone on an acrylic base with Koons's last name.

"I saw this woman was there, and she was tapping (the sculpture), and then the thing fell over and shattered into thousands of pieces," artist Stephen Gamson told a Fox News affiliate in Miami.

Gamson told the media that he believed the woman touched the artwork to determine whether it was a real balloon.

The woman did not intend to shatter the Koons sculpture, according to Benedicte Caluch, an art advisor with Bel-Air Fine Art, which sponsored the artwork, who also informed the Miami Herald that insurance would cover the damage.

American painter and sculptor Koons, who was not present, finds inspiration in commonplace items like balloon animals. Even though they have sold at auction for as much as $91 million, his pieces question ideas about what constitutes fine art.

As many as 450 Celtic coins worth several million euros were stolen from a German museum after the thieves disrupted their phone lines and internet connection.&nbsp;The heist was carried out on early Tuesday morning at the Roman-Celtic Museum in the Bavarian town of Manching.&nbsp;The employees found the showcase, where the coins were kept, broken, local police told AFP.

Police said they are currently investigating how the heist took place despite the museum being located at high-security location.

The city’s mayor Herbert Nerb termed the robbery a "complete catastrophe" for the Bavarian town.

"They cut off the whole of Manching," Nerb told the German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

"The museum is actually a high-security location. But all the connections to the police were severed. Professionals were at work here," he added.

According to the police, the coins, discovered in 1999, date back to the Third Century BC and have a value of "several million euros".

Tuesday’s robbery is the latest in a series of high-profile museum heists in Germany.

One of the famous cases happened in 2017, where thieves managed to steal the 'Big Maple Leaf', considered the world's second-largest gold coin. The robbery took place at Berlin's prestigious Bode Museum.

At Green Vault museum, 21 pieces of jewellery and other valuables were stolen in a brazen night-time raid in Dresden's Royal Palace in November 2019.

The Green Vault heist is still considered to be the biggest art robbery in modern history. Insurance experts say the loot is worth at least 113.8m euros.

Officials believe that a notorious criminal family is behind the Green Vault raid.

Ukraine has accused Russia of looting historical artifacts from Kherson before its troops retreated from the Ukrainian city. &nbsp;Ukraine's culture minister made the allegation on Saturday (November 19) and said that nearly 15,000 artefacts were looted from Kherson Art Museum.

"They (Russian forces) simply robbed two museums and stole the most significant artifacts. In Art museum, it probably was almost 80 percent of collection. And big part in another museum, mainly the most expensive pictures (paintings), coins, " Oleksandr Thachenko, Ukraine's Minister of Culture said.

The museum said on Facebook that a few dozen of Russian soldiers came into the museum on October 31. They were then reportedly seen carrying out paintings and other artworks for next three days. The artworks were then loaded onto trucks. The museum said that the loote artefacts were taken to Simferopol in Crimea.

The collection of the Kherson Art Museum, also known as the Shovkunenko Kherson Regional Art Museum contained religious paintings dating back to the 17th century, Ukrainian art of the 19th century as well as collections of modernist and contemporary Ukrainian art.

Exposition of the Kherson Regional Museum contained some 10,000 archeological artifacts including items found during excavations of the ancient Greek colony of Olbia. The vast collection of over 173,000 artifacts stored in the museum coves the region’s natural history, pre and post revolutionary history.

Russian authorities in occupied Kherson tried to convert city's regional theatre into Russian cultural centre. But the efforts were not very successful.

"All they (Russians) managed to organise was a few concerts, that's all. A few small concerts, that's all. They never managed to stage a play," Oleksandr Knyha, the theatre's creative director said on his first visit back to the theatre after the Russian retreat.

Kherson theatre, named after Ukrainian playwright Mykola Kulish, was one of the region's most renowned cultural institutions and a host of annual International Theatre Festival 'Melpomene of Tavria'.

"As soon as we can, as soon as there is electricity, we will stage the first performances, " Knyha said adding that tickets for the February 24 performance will be honoured as soon as the theatre reopens.

An initiative by the Help foundation 'Bait Ul Meeras' is one of the biggest art centres and museums in the Kashmir Valley. The property is a four-storey heritage house completely showcasing the rich architecture of the Valley.&nbsp; It has hundreds of century old artefacts on display from traditional dresses to utensils, clothing, craft, jewellery and other artefacts. It took them more than a year to put together these artefacts for the display.&nbsp;

''To educate the youth about the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, we started the Bait Ul Meeras <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/news-geode-bright-swirl-two-toned-french-and-other-stunning-nail-art-trends-of-2022-507143">art</a>&nbsp;and culture centre. Under the guidance of Nighat Shafi, chairman of Help Foundation,&nbsp;we were able to create a space for the people to work on their creative sides. We not only display the heritage artefacts here but also showcase artisans making Kashmiri craft products like carpets, shawls and pottery. The only motive for us coming here is to make children of the valley aware about the rich heritage we have had. Our kids hardly have any idea about the history of the valley, and to show them what we were and what we had is the main focus. From our costumes to our utensils to jewellery, we have put up everything,'' said Hakim Javid, Coordinator.&nbsp;

Bait Ul Meeras has also opened doors to the locals to donate or showcase their valuable collections of old artefacts. Some of the heritage ornaments and utensils have been donated by the people, especially young students. The staff keeps looking for artefacts from across the valley that can be put on display.&nbsp;

''We are inviting school students to come and visit the centre and we have had a great response. Some children have donated stuff towards the centre that belonged to their grandparents or had it in the family. And that shows how much these youngsters are interested in saving the history and preserving it for the next generation to see as well. We are also holding workshops for the children, from writing to painting to showing them how artisans work on Kashmir crafts.,'' said Hakim Javid, Coordinator.

The rare artefacts on display in the museum are centuries old and hold a great historical value. Students come for workshops over the weekend and storytelling sessions are held in the centre too. When the foundation had approached the owner of the property to open such a space in this heritage house, he had shown keen interest too.&nbsp;

But museum chairman George Osborne, Britain's former finance minister&nbsp;said in an interview Tuesday night that he believed there is a "deal to be done" to share the priceless artworks.

"In the British Museum they tell a story about civilisation compared to all the other civilisations, China, India, other parts of the Mediterranean," he told LBC radio.

"In Greece they only tell the story of Greek civilisation."

"I think there is a deal to be done where we can tell both stories, in Athens and in London, if we both approach this without a load of preconditions, without a load of red lines."

The Parthenon temple was built in the 5th century BCE on the Acropolis to honour Athena, the patron goddess of Athens.

In the early 1800s, workmen took friezes from the monument on the orders of the British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, Scottish nobleman Thomas Bruce, known as Lord Elgin.

Elgin sold the marbles to the British government, which in 1817 passed them on to the British Museum where they remain one of its most prized exhibits.

Athens insists the sculptures were stolen.

In an interview last year, Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson ruled out the return of the marbles, insisting they were legally acquired by Britain and legally owned by the British Museum's trustees since their acquisition.

Osborne noted that "I don't want to speak for all the trustees of the British Museum, we'd have to properly look at everything."

"Sensible people should come up with something so you can see them in their splendour in Athens, and you can see them alongside the splendours of other civilisations in London," he said.

A 21-year-old Texas man,&nbsp;Brian Hernandez was&nbsp;accused of breaking into the Dallas Museum of Art on Wednesday night and&nbsp;destroying art worth millions of dollars because he was upset with his girlfriend,as reported by Oxygen true crime.

The Texas man is presently being held&nbsp;at the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 bond and has been charged with&nbsp;criminal mischief charge greater than $300,000.

On Thursday, the museum released a statement that they are "devastated by this incident,” however, they are ”grateful that no one was harmed.”&nbsp;

The statement also added that "This was an isolated incident perpetrated by one individual acting alone, whose intent was not theft of art or any objects on view at the museum."

According to an arrest warrant obtained by&nbsp;KXAS-TV reports,&nbsp;the man allegedly broke in&nbsp;by smashing the front entrance with a metal chair and damaging several pieces of art, including pots, statues and other artefacts. Estimates made by the Investigators found that the accused has&nbsp;destroyed artwork worth $5,153,000 using a stool.

A 6th Century ceramic cup called "Kylix Herakles and Nemeon Lion," valued at $100,000 was among&nbsp;the destroyed artifacts along with the "Black Figure Panel Amphora 6th Century Greece" pot and the&nbsp;"Red Figure Pyxis 450 B.C." pot, together valued at&nbsp;$5 million.

A glass case was also smashed by the man using a sanitizer stand that contained a 2018 ceramic piece called&nbsp;Batah Kuhuh Alligator Gar Fish Effigy Bottle, reports Smithsonian Magazine.

The incident comes after a man&nbsp;smeared some cream cake over the framed Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum in Paris.&nbsp;

The exhibition named "Guarding the Art" displays 25 unique works, which have been selected by the members of the team. &nbsp;&nbsp;

"When I thought of creating a concept like this, the first thought that came into my mind was whether there is an alcohol museum in the world.

There is absolutely no place where you can see the kind of stuff pertaining to alcohol anywhere in the world. If you go to Scotland, they are very happy about their waters, about their drinks etc.

Similarly, in Russia, the people feel happy to showcase the drinks they have," he said.

Armando Duarte, CEO, Alcohol Museum said, "One of our prominent drinks is Kaju Feni alcohol that is put on display here. This drink is fermented naturally.

For Goans, the consumption of alcohol was a symbol of hospitality.

"Dr Malhotra, a tourist for Maharashtra who visited this place, said, "The amount of information preserved here is amazing. I am dazed and awestruck with the place. The amount of information, they have kept here for visitors to see is super amazing."
