It has been reported that the falling meteor was visible in the sky around 7:15 pm local time. It was seen not only from Karachi&nbsp;but from some other parts of Sindh province as well. It was seen by many people and local astronomers reportedly confirmed that it was really a space rock burning through Earth's atmosphere.

A meteorite from Mars that caused a splash here on Earth decades ago contains no sign of ancient, primitive life on Mars, after all, say scientists.

NASA announced in 1996 that organic compounds in rocks may have been deposited by living organisms.&nbsp;Many scientists were sceptical, and researchers have been chipping away at it over the past few decades, most recently by a team led by Andrew Steele of the Carnegie Institution for Science.

According to Steele, tiny samples from the meteorite show the carbon-rich compounds were actually produced by water flowing over the rock for a prolonged period. The research was published in <a href="https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abg7905">Science</a>.

In 1984, a 4lb (2kg) rock was discovered in Antarctica. During Mars' early, wet past, at least two impacts near the rock heated the surrounding surface, before a third impact bounced the rock away from the planet millions of years ago.&nbsp;

The meteorite drifted through space for millions of years before landing on an ice field in Antarctica thousands of years ago. This small grey-green fragment was named Allan Hills 84001 after the hill where it was found.

Josua Huatalung (33), who lives in Sumatra, was working outside his house in the month of August when a loud boom shook his senses. Something had smashed through the tin roof of the verandah of his house.&nbsp;When he checked, he found the meteorite which was still hot when he tried lifting it.

He told Indonesia's Kompas newspaper that the sound was so loud, the entire house shook.

This crater is predicted to be five times bigger than the famous Wolfe Creek crater in the Kimberley. The 5 km-wide crater is considered to be one of the largest meteorite craters in the world.

The geologist and geophysicist, Dr Jayson Meyers, said the find was significant and unexpected.

“There’s probably quite a few more out there,” he said. “We’ve probably been hit by more asteroids than we thought. If we start recognising more of these, then the landscape begins changing, and we have to ask ourselves what’s the frequency and why are they happening?”

Meyers said more discoveries could help scientists better predict when a meteorite may next strike Earth.

“If we can understand more of the geological history, we can predict when the next event will happen, or see when another rogue asteroid could hit us.”
