Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab province&nbsp;in Pakistan, stated on Friday (April 5) that Chinese residents in Pakistan feel upset when they are requested to adhere to security measures. She made these comments a week following a suicide bombing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that claimed the lives of five&nbsp;Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver.

Maryam, daughter of three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the first woman to hold the position of provincial chief minister in Pakistan, made these remarks during her first Apex Committee meeting. She said that Chinese residents in the country are reluctant to comply with security protocols.

“They are resentful when they are asked to follow security protocols. They don't want to come under any discipline as they fret over it,” she said.

The meeting had Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Aamer Raza and other top military officials.

Maryam assured that her government would provide strong security for Chinese workers in Punjab. The meeting also condemned the killing of Chinese engineers in Bisham.

Last week, a suicide bombing in Bisham killed five Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver while they were traveling from Islamabad to a dam construction site in Dasu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

"Terrorists got digitalised and we need to be ahead of them on such platforms. Besides, terrorists have the latest weapons and technology. They have the US weapons which they got in Afghanistan. The weapons coming from Afghanistan are a big challenge for the law enforcement agencies,” she said.

The 50-year-old leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party mentioned that young people are also being manipulated and recruited by terrorists. Maryam stated,&nbsp;“And social media is one of the major tools being used for the purpose.”

After a Lahore High Court judgment, Maryam received her passport back in exchange for bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case in 2019. Only a few days later, the Islamabad High Court vacated her conviction in the Avenfield case before her passport was returned.

Hussain Nawaz said, "It was heart-wrenching to see her [Ms Sharif] go to jail because of Imran Khan and his government. It is painful for any brother to see his sister go through that. When she arrives, we will talk to each other and share our grief," Dawn reported.

Maryam was greeted by her brother Hassan and her son, Junaid Safdar. A picture went viral of the brother-sister duo hugging each other.

A day earlier, Nawaz Sharif thanked all his supporters who had gathered outside his office in Stanhope House to welcome his daughter.

Maryam Sharif reunites with her father, former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif, after three years

In a big legal victory for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, its vice president Maryam Nawaz was on Thursday acquitted by a high court in a corruption case which will allow her to contest elections. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted the appeal of Maryam, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and that of her husband Muhammad Safdar who had challenged their convictions by an anti-corruption court in the Avenfield property case in July 2018.&nbsp;

The Avenfield case refers to the purchase of four posh flats in Avenfield House, Park Lane in London. A two-judge bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani hearing their appeals said the opinion of the investigating officer could not be considered as evidence.&nbsp;

The joint investigation team did not present any facts, it just collected information, Justice Kayani observed. At the conclusion of the case, the bench held that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the prosecutor in the case, failed to establish the charges of corruption.&nbsp;

The NAB had accused the Sharifs of purchasing the flats with money over and above their known sources of income. The Sharifs rejected the accusation of wrongdoing but were unable to show where the money for the flats had come from. The NAB in September had admitted before the IHC that the PML-N leader had no direct role in purchasing the Avenfield properties.&nbsp;

Thursday’s verdict has paved the way for Maryam, 48, to be eligible to contest elections. Lawyer Mirza Moiz Baig said: A person who has been convicted of a crime involving corruption or moral turpitude is disqualified from contesting elections unless a period of five years has lapsed since their release." Maryam in a brief chat with the media outside the court said they had been vindicated.&nbsp;

As she talked to the media, she also spoke to her father Nawaz Sharif in London and also received another call from her uncle Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who congratulated her on her acquittal. The Prime Minister later in his reaction to the verdict said the edifice of lies, slander and character assassination had come crumbling down.&nbsp;

Maryam’s acquittal in the Avenfield reference is a slap in the face of the so-called accountability system that was employed to target the Sharif family. Blame your ex: Maryam Nawaz spars on Twitter with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's former wife Jemima Goldsmith

Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into the "incidents" took place in Karachi, a day after deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Muhammad Safdar was briefly arrested from his hotel room in the city. 
 
The Army chief directed the Karachi Corps Commander to "immediately inquire into the circumstances" to determine the facts and file a report as soon as possible, according to a statement issued by the military's media wing.

The statement did not specify which incident it was referring to, but it comes after PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari called on "institutions" to investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Safdar. 
Safdar and his wife, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, were in the city to attend a rally of the opposition's Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) when he was arrested from their hotel for allegedly disrespecting the mausoleum of the country's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He was subsequently released on bail. 
 
Bilawal in a press conference told reporters that all top officers of Sindh Police were wondering "who were the people who surrounded" the Sindh police chief's house in the early hours of Monday and took him to an unspecified location before Safdar was arrested. 
 
He also demanded to know the identities of "the two people who went inside the IG's house" and where they allegedly took the police chief at around 4 am. 
 
Bilawal's presser came after the PPP which hosted the PDM's rally found itself in an embarrassing position when police moved in late night on Sunday and arrested Safdar. 
 
Safdar was released on bail on Monday and flew back to Lahore with Maryam and other senior PML N leaders, but the PPP which rules the Sindh province while distancing itself from the incident wondered who had ordered the arrest of Safdar. 
 
Meanwhile, at least 13 top ranking officers of the Sindh Police have decided to go on leave to protest the manner in which the force had been "ridiculed" in the incident involving the arrest of Safdar.

"Maryam's arrest is an attempt to distract (everyone) from the government`s failed policy on Kashmir. It is a tactic to distract from the sinking economy and from the crashing stock market," Sharif said.

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sharif said that his party will not be "pushed back" against the government's "cruel tactics".

"Imran Khan is mistaken if he thinks he can pressure us with such cruel tactics. They are pushing us against the wall, but we won't be pushed back," the Pakistani opposition leader said.&nbsp;

The statement was posted by Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Sharif, on Twitter, which said: "PML-N would like to set the record straight on the interview of PML-N Quaid carried yesterday by DAWN. At the outset, statement of the Quaid has been grossly misinterpreted by the Indian media."

"The PML-N as the country's premier popular national political party and its Quaid need no certificate from anybody on their commitment and capacity to preserve, protect and promote Pakistan's national security," it further read, criticising opposition leaders, who have been questioning his loyalty towards Pakistan.

On May 11, Sharif in an exclusive interview to a Pakistan daily, The Dawn, had said that terrorists sent by Pakistan were responsible for the 26/11 attacks.

"Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can't we complete the trial?" Nawaz noted in the interview in a reference to the Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.

Pakistan has so far not completed trial in the 26/11 case.

The three references against the Sharif family are related to the Al-Azizia Company and Hill Metal Establishment, Flagship Investment Ltd and the Avenfield (London) properties.

Sharif and his sons, Hassan and Hussain, have been named in all three NAB references, while Maryam and husband Safdar have been named only in the Avenfield reference.

Last month, Sharif was indicted in all three cases while his daughter Maryam and her husband Muhammad Safdar, co-accused with Sharif in only one case, were also indicted along with Sharif.

Sharif&#39;s sons Hassan and Hussian have failed to appear in the court despite repeated summons. It promoted the court to separate their cases.

The court, however, refused to grant a permanent exemption from appearance in court to Nawaz Sharif and only granted him exemption for today.&nbsp;Sharif had sought permanent exemption for attending to his wife who&nbsp;his&nbsp;ailing in London, United Kingdom.&nbsp;

The NAB prosecutors, however, demanded that the former PM be arrested as he left the country without informing the authorities probing the graft case, despite being a primary accused.&nbsp;

The court also issued perpetual warrants against Nawaz Sharif&#39;s two sons, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, and declared them proclaimed offenders for failing to appear in court despite repeated summons in the case. Also, their case has been separated from that of the rest of the family members.&nbsp;

Maryam Sharif, however, said that her brothers will decide whether or when to appear before the court.&nbsp;
