Liverpool are currently top of the league, two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City who have a game in hand and Tottenham sit in third, a huge 15 points behind the leaders.

Tottenham 'world-class' team, says Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool and Spurs go head to head

It's been seven consecutive games that Mohamed Salah has not scored for Liverpool, but teammate Virgil van Dijk says it is only a matter of time before the goals come for the Egyptian forward.

Salah had scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season and helped them reach the Champions League final. However, he has notched 20 goals in 41 games in all competitions, with 17 of them coming in the league.

"People can say all they want but I think all the teams in the Premier League would love to have him in their side," defender Van Dijk told the club website.

"The goals will come. That's something for a striker that is maybe going to be in your head but we tell him every time: you just need to keep working, keep going and you will be fine."

Liverpool will get Mohamed Salah goals, says teammate Van Dijk

Liverpool usurped Manchester City to take top spot in the Premier League but needed a James Milner penalty nine minutes from time to see off lowly Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The on-form Sadio Mane put the visitors in front midway through the first half, but a rare defensive mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker allowed Ryan Babel to give his former club a huge scare 16 minutes from time.

Fulham's awful defending all season is the reason they are heading back to the Championship after just one season back in the top flight, and the hosts gave Jurgen Klopp's men a much-needed gift when goalkeeper Sergio Rico bundled over Mane and Milner secured all three points from the spot.

Liverpool now hold a two-point lead over City, but the champions have a game in hand.

"Average game, sensational result," said Klopp of his side's performance.

"City don't look like they will drop a lot of points, so we have to win and win and win. That's our job to do."

Liverpool completed a clean sweep of four English sides into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a highly impressive 3-1 win at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

But they nearly suffered a very costly European hangover against a Fulham side still 13 points adrift of safety.

"We had to run a lot in a week where we ran a lot," added Klopp to justify an at times lacklustre display at such a pivotal stage of the season.

Most of the visitors' attacking threat came down their left side through Mane and the Senegalese proved the source of the breakthrough on 26 minutes.

Mane scored twice in Munich in midweek and took his hot streak to 11 goals in 11 games with a simple finish after exchanging passes with Roberto Firmino.

No excuses

Liverpool started the second half with greater intent to try and put the game to bed.

Andy Robertson was the provider as Georginio Wijnaldum headed a good opportunity over at the far post before Rico was called into action to deny Van Dijk.

However, as a torrential rain shower swept over the banks of the Thames to make playing conditions hazardous, Liverpool's slender lead proved a dangerous one.

Floyd Ayite was rightly flagged offside as he headed a deflected shot past Alisson before the Brazilian number one got down well to save from Andre Zambo Anguissa.

Mane was inches away from securing the points and doubling his tally for the day with a deft header from a corner that clipped the top of the crossbar.

Disaster seemed to have struck for Liverpool when Van Dijk's header back towards Alisson didn't have enough purchase and Babel stepped in with the break of the ball to tap into an empty net.

"I am not giving excuses. I should have handled it better," admitted Van Dijk.

However, the league leaders showed why they are in the running to end a 29-year title drought to get a vital three points with the help of some erratic goalkeeping from Rico.

"I saw the reaction of my players and I'm really pleased with that," added Klopp. "After the equaliser we were much clearer than before the equaliser."

Mohamed Salah's goal drought continued as the Egyptian has scored just once now in his last 10 games, but it was his shot that Rico spilled before the Spaniard unnecessarily pulled down Mane.

Milner took responsibility instead of Salah from the penalty spot and calmly sent Rico the wrong way to restore Liverpool's lead, which this time they never looked like letting go.

Liverpool survive Fulham scare to go top of Premier League

Liverpool showed they are back as one of European football's powerhouses after dispatching Bayern Munich 3-1 in the German champions' back yard on Wednesday, manager Juergen Klopp said.

Liverpool, five-times European champions and last season's Champions League runners-up, eased past the Bavarians and into the quarter-finals with two goals from Sadio Mane and one from Virgil van Dijk after a goalless first leg at Anfield.

In a dominant performance, Liverpool shrugged off an early ankle injury to captain Jordan Henderson and kept their cool after Bayern's equaliser through Joel Matip's own goal late in the first half.

Liverpool then scored with headers from Van Dijk in the 69th minute and Mane in the 84th to book their spot in the last eight.

"It is an important (win) for different reasons. Important money-wise but also confidence-wise," Klopp told reporters.

"Liverpool's self-awareness now must be 'we are back. We are back on the landscape. Back in big football'.

"That was part of the plan when we started the project," Klopp said. "We still have space for improvement but beating Bayern here is a big one."

Liverpool, who have slipped behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race in recent weeks, had lost all their away games in the Champions League competition this season prior to Wednesday.

Yet their victory saw them join Manchester City and Manchester United as well as Tottenham Hotspur in the last eight while Germany will be without a quarter-finalist for the first time in 11 years.

"We scored a wonderful goal in the first half, outstanding," Klopp said. "We conceded one, but everyone could see it was possible (for us to win). The second half I was really happy by how mature the performance was, how strong we looked, how good we defended.

"It's a big step for us. We have set a mark that this wonderful club is really at the top of the landscape of European football."

"I am really proud of the boys because it is a massive achievement. We are on a good way and I like what the boys did tonight."

Liverpool are back on the big stage with Bayern Munich win, says Juergen Klopp

Liverpool have no intention of sacrificing Champions League progress to boost their chances of winning the Premier League title and will do their best to win both competitions this season, goalkeeper Alisson has said.

The Merseyside club, who face Bayern Munich in the Champions League later on Wednesday, are also in the race for the Premier League title, leading some pundits to suggest they should prioritise domestic glory over European success.

Alisson's team mate Mohamed Salah said earlier this week that he was willing to put his own Champions League ambitions on the back-burner to help his team win the Premier League.

"Our goal is to win the league and everything we're playing in, the Champions League as well," Alisson told a news conference on Tuesday. "We can't choose what we go for. Actually, we can choose, and we choose both."

The Brazil international's comments echo those of his manager Juergen Klopp, who said ahead of the Bayern game that the result would have no bearing on his team's domestic ambitions.

Liverpool, who finished as Champions League runners-up last season, are a point and a place behind leaders Manchester City with eight games left in the Premier League season.

Liverpool are second in the Premier League with 73 points, one point behind defending champions Manchester City with eight matches remaining in the season.

Juergen Klopp's side are also competing for silverware in the Champions League where they visit Bayern Munich on Wednesday for the return leg of their last-16 tie, after the sides played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield last month.

"I'll be honest with you, the most prestigious competition for me is the Champions League," Salah told a news conference at Anfield on Monday.

"But the dream for the city and the club is the league. So, I'm happy to sacrifice my dream for their dream but if we win both that would great and this is what we are trying to do."

Salah, who suffered a shoulder injury in last year's Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid, later said Liverpool were mentally prepared to take advantage if City lose their way in the home stretch of the domestic season.

"The competition is very tough and we have difficult games left as do they," the 26-year-old added.

"All you can do is win your games and hopefully they will fail in one so we can win the title. My mind is sharp and there is pressure but I'm strong mentally and we have to keep going.

"We will see what we can do at the end of the season but mentally I am ready for everything."

From Raheem Sterling's sparkle to Harry Kane conundrum: Major takeaways from this week's Premier League

Two goals each for Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane helped Liverpool to keep in touch with Premier League leaders Manchester City with a 4-2 win over lowly Burnley at Anfield on Sunday.

Juergen Klopp's side move to 73 points, one behind City, who beat Watford 3-1 on Saturday. Both teams have eight games remaining.

Liverpool came through this tricky fixture, played in high wind and sporadic showers, helped by some generous gifts from the Burnley defence and while they were not at their very best Klopp was still pleased.

"Good game, difficult but good. It is always difficult against Burnley. In the circumstances, even more difficult. 4-2 is a brilliant result," he said.

The German chose to recall Adam Lallana to his midfield, at the expense of Jordan Henderson, and the former Southampton midfielder, whose career has been hampered by injury, delivered a fine showing.

"I told him, if he can play like he trained, then he will help us a lot and that is exactly how it happened," said Klopp.

It was the visitors though, who took a surprise lead in the sixth minute, with Ashley Westwood scoring direct from a corner although Burnley's James Tarkowski looked to have impeded Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker.

If Burnley's strategy was to frustrate their opponents and create some nervous tension in the stadium it was working well but they were undone by unusually sloppy work at the back.

Tarkowski and Clarets keeper Tom Heaton got in each other's way as they made a mess of a low cross from Mohamed Salah and Firmino was left with the simplest of tap-ins to equalise.

The tension having eased, Mane then put Liverpool ahead with a fine, curling finish after a poor clearance from Jeff Hendrick was blocked by Lallana.

Burnley started the second half well but the outcome was put beyond doubt in the 67th minute when Heaton poorly kicked straight to Salah, the Egyptian bursting into the area, and Charlie Taylor's sliding tackle fell kindly to Firmino who made no mistake.

Substitute Johann Berg Gudmundsson pulled back a goal in stoppage time for 17th-placed Burnley who remain two points above the relegation zone.

For a moment, with winger Dwight McNeil causing problems on Liverpool's right with his dribbling and crosses, Burnley threatened an improbable comeback.

But after another cheap giveaway Mane added a fourth goal to make sure of the three points, rounding Heaton and slotting into the empty net.

While Klopp can turn his attention to Wednesday's Champions League second-leg match away to Bayern Munich, Burnley manager Sean Dyche has eight games to keep his team in the top flight.

The Burnley boss was pleased with his team's mentality but said they had paid the price for their defensive errors.

"You cannot give a team like Liverpool four goals -- we certainly gave them three. You can question the errors but we certainly made a game of it," he said.

Firmino and Mane sink Burnley to keep Liverpool in the race

Having reeled Liverpool in, champions Manchester City have a chance to start turning the screw on Juergen Klopp's side as they host Watford on Saturday, a day before their stuttering title rivals play Burnley.

Only a few weeks ago Liverpool appeared firmly in the driving seat with a first English title since 1990 tantalisingly within reach, but four draws in their last six matches opened the door for Pep Guardiola's side.

City have not been shy in barging through it and five successive league victories have taken them a point clear with both sides having nine games left to play.

Victory over a Watford side smashed 5-0 by Klopp's side on their last away outing would give them some daylight and heap pressure on Liverpool to get all three points against a Burnley side scrapping to stay clear of the relegation zone.

Klopp was defiant after Sunday's 0-0 draw at Everton left City above them for the first time since December with both teams having played the same number of games.

"We are positive -- how couldn't we be positive?" Klopp told the club's website this week.

"There is a lot to come and a lot of games to play. The dynamic (at the top of the table) changed a little bit -- now we are second, they are first.

"The season is not over and we will not give up."

With Liverpool's fabled attacking trident of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Robero Firmino struggling to click, the Anfield faithful will be encouraged by the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is nearing full fitness.

The England midfielder, who has been sidelined for nearly a year with a knee injury, could feature for the under 23s this week and his return would be a huge boost in the run-in.

While the title race looks set to go to the wire, the battle for third and fourth and Champions League qualification is equally exciting with Manchester United's stunning revival under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer upsetting the apple cart.

The former Norway striker appears to have arrived toting a magic wand and his spell in charge reached new levels of wonder on Wednesday when United beat Paris St Germain 3-1 away to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

One of the most stunning victories in their fabled European history will send fourth-placed United to fifth-placed Arsenal in great heart for a match that has the feel of a six-pointer.

United have won every away game since Solskjaer took charge in December and if they continue that record on Sunday they would move four points ahead of Arsenal.

Third-placed Tottenham Hotspur will also be buoyant after they also reached the Champions League quarter-finals this week by completing a 4-0 rout of Borussia Dortmund.

They have the advantage of playing on Saturday at struggling Southampton where victory would take them six points clear of United, seven ahead of Arsenal and eight ahead of Chelsea, who host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Tottenham, who have managed only one point from their last three Premier League games, will have to do without their manager Maurico Pochettino on the sidelines, though.

The former Southampton manager was given a two-match touchline ban following his row with referee Mike Dean at Burnley last month.

With Huddersfield Town and Fulham apparently condemned to relegation, the battle to avoid finishing 18th looks set to be just as ferocious as the one to secure a top-four spot.

Cardiff City, currently third-from-bottom, appear to have run out of steam just at the wrong time and host West Ham United on Saturday trying to snap a three-match losing run.

Manchester City eye chance to turn the screw on Liverpool

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho gave Jurgen Klopp advice for Liverpool's title challenge in the Premier League.

He said, "The best way to prepare sometimes is to be honest."

Jurgen Klopp's side faced Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday but could only achieve a 0-0 draw, leaving them in second place with nine EPL matches remaining this season.

He added, "It is not to try to sell dreams. It is not to sell dreams. I think to be honest is to say we are not in our best moment."

"They (Liverpool) are not in their best moment," Mourinho added.

Currently, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are currently top of the table with 71 points, one point ahead of Liverpool.

Although, Mourinho also praised Klopp saying he is a positive person.

"A guy [Jurgen Klopp] who has some contact with the players, some skin contact, very tactile."

"I think he's very supportive. I think he's going to make them believe what we also believe, it is open. It is not closed. City are not champions, it is open," he concluded.

Jose Mourinho gives Klopp advice for Liverpool's title challenge

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool still have the look of Premier League champions despite a goalless Merseyside derby draw at Everton that saw them fall a point behind Manchester City at the top of the table.

After a run of four draws in their past six league games, Liverpool ended the weekend behind City for the first time in three months having played the same number of games as Pep Guardiola's defending champions.

Everton's run without a derby win extended to 19 games stretching back to 2010.

However, the celebrations from the home supporters on the final whistle indicated how much they believe they have damaged Liverpool's hopes of securing a first league title in 29 years.

Klopp, however, remained defiant and continues to see evidence that his players have the resilience to cope with the pressure of one of the most tense title races in years.

"I don't have to give my players any advice, they know already," said Klopp. "They're not little boys any more.

"Sometimes you have the lead and people say it's done when there are 20 games to go to the end of the season, and now they have one or two more points than us. It's the beginning of March, who cares?

"I believe 100 per cent in our chances. I know that game-by-game my feeling gets better about the boys because they look ready for it.

"Today, of course, we didn't score, that can happen. A difficult game, opponent, and the wind and weather circumstances didn't help for football in general, it was just a fight.

"We were ready for that today and now we have a point more than before -- all good."

Wasteful Salah

The game, and league table, could have had a very different look had Mohamed Salah not missed the best chance of the game on 28 minutes.

Morgan Schneiderlin's error in midfield allowed Fabinho to play a first-time through ball which sent the Egyptian bearing down on goal with only Jordan Pickford to beat.

But the England goalkeeper, who was at fault for Liverpool's dramatic 96th-minute winner when the sides met in December, did well to spread himself and beat away Salah's shot.

Salah also missed the best opportunity of the second half when a bad touch allowed Michael Keane to make a magnificent last-ditch challenge.

The African player of the year, who scored 44 goals in an incredible first season at Anfield, has now scored just once in his last seven games.

"When you see the situation, he is doing everything right," Klopp said of Salah's wasted chances. "He takes his decision a millisecond earlier or later and the defender can jump in.

"We had our moments but there is no reason for taking it or not taking it, you have to fight against the circumstances, against the opponent, and the boys did that."

There were other chances for Liverpool, the best of which fell to Fabinho 21 minutes from time, but he took too long to control and allowed Lucas Digne to make a tackle.

Yet, Everton could even have snatched a long-awaited win near the end when substitute Richarlison's low cross just eluded Bernard.

"We knew how much this fixture means to the fans," said Pickford. "If you can't score then don't concede."

Liverpool ready for title fight despite losing lead, insists manager Klopp

Liverpool were left a point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after they were held to a goalless draw by Everton in Sunday's Merseyside derby.

City, who beat Bournemouth 1-0 on Saturday, have 71 points while Juergen Klopp's Liverpool have 70 after their fourth draw in their last six games. Both sides have nine matches left.

Mohamed Salah had the two best openings for Liverpool before the break but his soft 15th minute shot barely troubled Jordan Pickford and then the Everton keeper was swift off his line to foil the Egyptian as he raced goalwards.

Everton's approach was to harry and disrupt Liverpool and they did that task well but struggled to create opportunities with Theo Walcott unable to capitalise on a rare opening, screwing his shot wide.

Salah threatened again in the 57th minute as he bore down on Pickford but Everton defender Michael Keane stopped a near certain goal with a perfectly timed last-ditch sliding tackle.

Klopp threw on Roberto Firmino in the 63rd but the striker was unable to open up an Everton defence that raised their game to deal a blow to their local rivals' title hopes.

Premier League: Liverpool held in goalless derby at Everton, stay second

Liverpool took over at the top of the Premier League table despite being held to a 0-0 draw against Manchester United in a scrappy match on Sunday.

Juergen Klopp's side have now drawn three of their last four Premier League games and have 66 points from 27 games while second-placed Manchester City, who play Chelsea in the League Cup final later on Sunday, have 65 points from the same number of games.

Klopp looked frustrated and irritated throughout the game as his team struggled to find the attacking verve, which has been the basis of their success this season, against a United side that was forced to make all three changes in the first-half.

The Liverpool manager suggested his team had been affected by the stop-start nature of the first half.

"We didn't do well to be honest. We take that. It is a point gained because we have one more than before but it doesn't feel like that," he said.

"These games are always opened up by one situation. The boys didn't feel okay. I could see it in their faces. It was strange. I was thinking 'what is gong on here today'. They lost momentum and rhythm and couldn't really get it back."

Liverpool's supporters struck a different tone, however, as they left the home of their old rivals chanting a reminder of their league position as they focus on the chance to win their first top-flight title since 1990.

INJURY WOES

The point means that Liverpool, who have 11 games remaining, will be disappointed not to have taken advantage of an injury-ravaged United, who slip to fifth after Arsenal's win over Southampton.

Having lost holding midfielder Nemanja Matic to injury before the game, Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera went off in the 20th minute and a limping Juan Mata was replaced by Jesse Lingard five minutes later.

But Lingard did not even last until the break as he suffered what appeared to be a recurrence of his hamstring strain and limped off to be replaced by Alexis Sanchez.

Lingard had the best chance of the half when he was found in the box by Romelu Lukaku with a perfectly threaded pass but Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker was quickly out to foil the England attacker’s attempt to round him.

"Everything that could have gone wrong in the first half went wrong. We had four injuries - we had to keep Marcus Rashford on - it seemed like it was going to be a tough afternoon," said United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Amid those three United injuries, Liverpool also lost their Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino to an ankle injury with Daniel Sturridge pressed into action.

After such a messy first half, neither side were able to truly get into their stride in a disappointing game.

Liverpool defender Joel Matip turned the ball into his own net but the assistant referee had already signalled that Chris Smalling was off-side before his low cross fell into Matip's path.

Without Firmino and with Mohamed Salah having a quiet game, Liverpool's only real opportunity came from a corner but Georginio Wijnaldum headed wide.

"A clean sheet is pleasing because it's not an easy place to come," said Liverpool's James Milner.

"We didn't get many chances as we would have liked and we're disappointed not to win the game.

"Hopefully it's a good point come the end of the season. I just don't think we were good enough with our movements or final ball," he said.

Liverpool go top with draw at injury-hit Man United

Manchester United cannot afford to go years without winning the Premier League title like Liverpool and must look to reclaim the trophy, the club's caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said.

United last won the league title in 2013, the year Alex Ferguson stepped down as manager, while Liverpool have not won the Premier League since it was formed in 1992, last winning the first division title in 1990.

Liverpool are tied with Manchester City at the top of the current standings and can take an outright lead if they win or draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Solskjaer said the 29-year wait for the trophy will be at the back of their opponent's minds.

"Of course they do feel that pressure. I think all the supporters do and players probably do as well," Solskjaer told reporters ahead of Sunday's clash.

"But then we have not won it for a few years and so we want to get back to that. We have to make sure that we don't end up being happy being among the top four.

"If you aim too low and reach your target, then that's more dangerous than aiming too high and missing them. It's probably the toughest league to win and when you look at it, there are only five or six teams that have won the Premier League."

Solskjaer also took a dig at Liverpool, who have shown potential to be title challengers in recent years before fading away and relinquishing their advantage in the title race.

"I have loads of Liverpool fans back home and every year is going to be their year. It has got to October and it's: 'OK, next year'," Solskjaer added.

"Now they are in the race so for them, it is going to be an exciting finish to the league. That's none of our concern, we just have to concentrate on ourselves."

It was not the first time Mane's house was targeted since he moved to Liverpool, with the 26-year-old also burgled during a home Champions League game against Slovenian side Maribor in November 2017.

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson feels his team's goalless home draw with Bayern Munich can be crucial to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals though he reckons the German side will be happier with Tuesday's result.

Liverpool were held by Bayern in the first leg of their last 16 clash, leaving the teams with all to play for when they meet again in Munich on March 13 and Robertson said last season's runners-up must be more clinical in front of goal to progress.

"Of course they'll be happier with a clean sheet but a clean sheet at home in the Champions League is so crucial," left back Robertson told Liverpool's website.

"We know that when we go over there one goal counts as a wee bit more than that, and if we can grab one then they have to score two at least.

"These are all things that come into play and with the chances we've got, if we can be a bit more clinical we believe we can score over there."

Robertson said Liverpool must temporarily put that match on the back-burner, with a potentially tough test in the Premier League on Sunday when they travel to Old Trafford to play their in-form arch-rivals Manchester United.

"It's a long way away now and it needs to get put to the back of the mind because we've got big Premier League games coming up so Bayern are forgotten about for just now."

Bayern stalemate can prove crucial, says Liverpool's Robertson

Perhaps we have been spoilt in recent seasons of Champions League football with high-scoring, free-flowing games becoming the norm rather than the exception.

But at Anfield on Tuesday, Liverpool and Bayern Munich, in a fixture that would have generated excited anticipation in any decade from the 1970s onwards, were unable to deliver on the high expectations.

The goalless draw in their last-16 first leg tie was by no means dull and neither side could be accused of negativity but there was certainly a little too much respect shown and as a result a conservatism that left the crowd wanting more.

It was also a case of two managers and teams which knew exactly the dangers that faced them.

Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp emerged as a manager in the Bundesliga and faced many battles with Bayern in his time at Borussia Dortmund. He knew his opponent inside out.

Likewise Bayern boss Niko Kovac will have been very familiar with Klopp's approach and the dangers of being swept aside in a more open game.

Familiarity bred caution and the result was one which left Kovac sounding the more satisfied of the pair.

"It is half full, half empty, I can’t remember that many clubs have not lost and not conceded at Anfield, they are a sensationally good team," said the Croatian.

"My team in defence and as a whole kept everything tight at the back and played at a high level, tactically and mentally. We didn’t score but we didn’t let one in.

"We are at home now, it is an advantage and we will play in front of 75,000. We know if we concede, we have to win. At this level, very small differences can decide everything so we will wait and see."

"I am the last person to start celebrating. We are modest, focused and have to give 100 percent in the next game," added Kovac.

Klopp was more critical but equally glad to still be in the contest when it resumes in three weeks at Bayern's Allianz Arena.

"We can play better, we should play better. But it was like this," he said.

"The tie is not over. We had to create a basis which we can use in the second leg. From a result point of view it's absolutely OK.

"It's not a dream result but it's a good one and we can work with that."

Champions League: Familiarity breeds caution; Bayern, Liverpool play out goalless draw

Bayern Munich's on-form striker Kingsley Coman has been given the green light to face Liverpool in the Champions League after fears he had sustained ligament damage in the 3-2 Bundesliga win over Augsburg were dispelled on Saturday.

Coman, 22, put in an outstanding display on Friday, scoring twice and making the third goal, as Bayern twice came from behind despite conceding an own goal with just 13 seconds gone.

Bayern, who face Liverpool at Anfield at Tuesday in the last 16 first leg match, were left holding their breath on Coman's fitness.

Coach Niko Kovac seemed pessimistic Friday and said it would be "annoying" if the Frenchman, who only returned from injury in December, missed the Liverpool match.

But on Saturday Bayern gave Coman the go-ahead.

"After a thorough examination conducted by the Bayern medical staff Saturday morning we can say it was a false alert," the club said on its website.

Coman only returned to full fitness in December after tearing ligaments in the same ankle last August.

"When he was injured (on the opening day of the season), we missed him a lot," said Kovac.

"So I hope he can play (against Liverpool)."

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was charged by the English Football Association (FA) on Wednesday over comments he made about the referee after his side's 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League on Feb. 4.

The German manager said referee Kevin Friend's performance was affected by the decision to allow Sadio Mane's opening goal, which should have been ruled out for offside.

The FA said Klopp had been charged as the comments "questioned the integrity of the referee and/or implied bias".

West Ham equalised through Michail Antonio's goal before the interval but Klopp said Friend "did not want to open the gap any more" in the second half.

"As a human being, if I know I have made a big mistake in the first half, I don't want to open the gap any more," Klopp said after the match at the London Stadium.

"Referees are obviously human beings, and I understand that, but I didn't during the game because I had no clue that our goal was offside."

Klopp has until 1800 GMT on Monday to respond to the charge.

Liverpool put aside talk of title-race jitters as they returned to the top of the Premier League with a confident 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.

The win, secured with goals from Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah, moves Juergen Klopp's side three points above second-placed Manchester City who face Chelsea on Sunday and would return to the top on goal difference with a victory.

After consecutive draws, the pressure was on Liverpool to dispel any talk of them lacking the steel for a tight title run-in and after surviving a scare when keeper Alisson Becker had to parry a Ryan Fraser shot in the second minute, Klopp's side looked close to their best again.

"We have high expectations and today we won in an impressive manner - we had some outstanding performances on the pitch," said Klopp.

"We wanted to show a reaction. It's our job not only to come through but to really perform and convince," he said.

Mane opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a well-placed header from a James Milner cross - the Senegalese forward's fourth straight league match with a goal.

Ten minutes later, Wijnaldum, whose return to the midfield after injury made a noticeable difference, doubled the lead with a gloriously executed lob over Artur Boruc after collecting a lofted pass from Andy Robertson.

Three minutes after the interval, Salah, who had wasted two good opportunities in the first half, made no mistake after being played in by a clever back-heel from Roberto Firmino.

The pair combined again in the 76th minute, this time Salah hitting the bar with a well-struck left-foot effort.

It could easily have been a more emphatic scoreline - against a Bournemouth team that was missing key attacking players in Callum Wilson and David Brooks.

Yet as the Kop sang "we shall not be moved" at the final whistle, it was clear that this was a much-needed victory and performance for Liverpool.

"Some of the play was mesmerising. We could have scored more," said captain Milner.

"It's been a tough few weeks with players injured and ill. Georginio Wijnaldum was nowhere to be seen yesterday and then he produces a performance like that."

The loss was Bournemouth's eighth consecutive away defeat, their worst run of form on the road for 35 years.

Only bottom side Huddersfield and second bottom Fulham have conceded more than the 47 goals Eddie Howe's side have let in this season.

Liverpool back on top after 3-0 win over Bournemouth

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has urged his players to give "every fibre of their bodies" in the battle for the Premier League title.

Manchester City moved to the top of the league on Wednesday for the first time since December after Klopp's side limped to back-to-back draws against Leicester City and West Ham United.

However, Klopp has dismissed the notion that Liverpool are wilting under the pressure of bidding for their first top division title in 29 years.

"I got a message this week, another sign that people think I need help – I don't need help, I'm fine – but it said in the last 10 games City dropped 12 points and we dropped seven," Klopp told reporters ahead of Saturday's game against Bournemouth.

"Is it interesting for me? Not really, but obviously the view from outside is completely different.

"The good news is we are still in there but the only chance to improve is by winning football games. We will be ready with each fibre of our bodies to fight for everything."

Klopp confirmed centre-back Joe Gomez will be out for up to six weeks as he continues to recover from leg surgery, but Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum took part in first-team training this week.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is recovering from a long-term knee injury, was added to the Champions League squad but Klopp played down expectations regarding the return of the England midfielder.

"If we go to the semi-final I think he is available," Klopp added.

"Maybe quarter-final, I am not 100 percent sure, but he still needs time. Everything looks fine, but now I wait for the green light of the medical department... We are not at that point in the moment."

Liverpool are under no additional pressure to claim their first league title in 29 years despite a recent blip that has allowed Premier League champions Manchester City to reclaim top spot, according to goalkeeper Alisson.

Frustrating 1-1 draws in their last two league games against Leicester City and West Ham United have left Liverpool on 62 points from 25 games and a spot behind City on goal difference, although Pep Guardiola's side have played an extra game.

"Our pressure is the same. We take things game by game without worrying about what our opponents are doing," Brazil international Alisson said ahead of Saturday's league clash against 10th-placed Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old said that Liverpool, who were nine points ahead of City at one stage in December, were not short of belief going into the home stretch of the season.

"We've shown in the past that we're good enough and we'll continue to show this in the games we've got to come," he said.

"Everyone wants to win this league but at Liverpool, our concern is winning games and not dropping points. We don't think about City, we think about ourselves. We only think about what we can do and how things are moving forward."

Liverpool posted a world record-breaking £106 million ($137 million) net profit last year even after spending £190 million on new players, according to financial results announced on Friday.

The club's profit before tax was £125 million -- up from £40 million -- with the club benefiting from increased revenue both on and off the pitch from a run to the Champions League final in Kiev, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

Turnover increased by £90 million to £455 million in the 12 months to May 31 last year, with media revenue, commercial revenue and matchday revenue all up.

The previous record was set by Leicester (£80 million after tax) in 2016/2017, the season after they won the Premier League, when they reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

Liverpool still trail the two Manchester clubs in revenue terms. United declared their results for the 12 months to the end of last June in September, with revenues of £590 million.

Jurgen Klopp's side are level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League as they chase their first English top-flight title for 29 years.

The financial statement shows £137 million came from player transfers, the largest chunk being Philippe Coutinho's January sale to Barcelona in a deal that could eventually worth up to £142 million, during the accounting period.

The club invested heavily, signing Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andrew Robertson, Dominic Solanke and Virgil Van Dijk, who arrived as the world's most expensive defender at £75 million.

Since the end of the reporting period club owners Fenway Sports Group have spent more money on players, with Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker, briefly the world's most expensive goalkeeper, coming in at a cost of £165 million but those deals will be reflected in the current year's figures.

"Financial results do fluctuate depending on player trading costs and timing of payments but what's clear in these latest results is the further strengthening of our underlying financial footing and profits being reinvested in the squad and infrastructure," said chief financial officer Andy Hughes.

"Since the reporting period, which is now nearly 12 months old, we have continued reinvesting in the playing squad from those areas of growth. We're making solid progress right across the club."

Overall, the club’s social media platforms had a 14 percent growth rate and in May 2018, they had the highest viewing figures on YouTube ever for a Premier League club and third of any sports club globally.

In January, Liverpool climbed two places to seventh in Deloitte's Football Money League. The top-ranked English club on the Deloitte's list were Manchester United, in third.

West Ham United are investigating allegations of racist abuse aimed towards Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah during Monday's 1-1 Premier League draw at the London Stadium.

In a statement, a West Ham spokesman said the club have a "zero tolerance policy" to any form of violent or abusive behaviour.

"We are an inclusive football club. Regardless of age, race, religion or belief, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or disability, everyone is warmly welcomed at London Stadium," he added.

West Ham United are investigating allegations of racist abuse aimed towards Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah during Monday's 1-1 Premier League draw at the London Stadium. A video emerged on social media in which audible racial slurs are directed at the 26-year-old Egypt international as he was taking a corner. The user who posted the video on Twitter said: "I went to watch West Ham vs Liverpool and I was disgusted by what I was hearing. People like this deserve no place in our society let alone football matches." The Metropolitan Police told Reuters in an email that officers are in the process of reviewing the footage. In a statement, a West Ham spokesman said the club have a "zero tolerance policy" to any form of violent or abusive behaviour. "We are an inclusive football club. Watch: Mo Salah subjected to vile racist abuse; West Ham investigate

Fans of Liverpool and Manchester City are set to watch this season's Premier League title race from "inside the game", even through the eyes of Sergio Aguero or Mohamed Salah, thanks to the latest in broadcasting innovation.

Technology giant Intel has partnered with champions City, Liverpool and Arsenal to introduce its state-of-the-art True View system to the Etihad, Anfield and Emirates stadiums.

True View, used in TV coverage of Sunday's Super Bowl and also to bring fans courtside in NBA, will allow 360-degree replays of all the key moments.

The cutting-edge technology will also allow viewers to experience winning goals, flying saves or last-ditch tackles from the perspective of the players on the pitch.

Using 38 5K ultra-high-definition cameras to capture vast quantities of "volumetric data" -- or three dimensional pixels -- Intel's servers then crunch it all down to provide incredible 3D replays from every conceivable angle.

In 2018 technology investments into sports reached nearly $1 billion -- much of it to satisfy a seemingly insatiable demand for content across traditional TV platforms and social media.

True View, according to James Carwana, vice president and general manager of Intel Sports, is a step further than anything Premier League fans will have experienced before, whether watching host broadcaster coverage or through club websites.

"Immersive media experiences continue to create more opportunities for sports teams and leagues to put the fan experience first," Carwana said at the London launch.

Billy Hogan, Liverpool's chief commercial officer, said True View would offer fans a completely new experience.

"We have seen some similar types of examples where they use more of a video-game looking feel, but this is the real match in a way where fans can see what the player is seeing on the ball," Hogan told Reuters.

"The ability to feel like you are actually on the pitch is something really exciting for the broadcast experience.

"It's deeply engaging from a fans perspective and from our perspective it's 24-7, 365-day interaction with our supporters whether they are nearby or on the other side of the world."

Only three Premier League clubs have so far joined with Intel with True View set to be rolled out "later this year".

Six La Liga clubs already have it installed.

Manchester City's senior vice president of Partnerships Damian Willoughby said True View fits into the club's ethos for innovation which saw it offer free stadium wifi on matchdays and "tunnel cam" which offers fans a peek "behind the scenes".

"It's about how we enhance the fans' experience and give our global audience a deeper experience of the content around the game," he said. "For us this is a natural extension of us being the cutting edge of fan engagement.

"We're possibly just scratching the surface of what's possible."

New TV technology to take football fans 'inside the game'

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp says his team have shown they are mentally equipped to handle a title run-in, having acquitted themselves well in high-pressure situations over the past few years.

Liverpool, who are five points ahead of defending champions Manchester City at the top of the table, drew 1-1 at home to Leicester City on Wednesday, prompting questions about their ability to stay the course as tension mounts in the run-in.

"Yes, there is pressure," Klopp told Liverpool's official website ahead of Monday's league game at West Ham United.

"There was pressure last year, a lot of pressure when we played Manchester City away in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and we dealt with it.

"There was pressure (in the Champions League semi-finals) at Rome, there was pressure in so many moments in the Premier League. We had to win each game.

"Will there be nervous moments? Yes, for sure. Don't make them bigger than they are because there were nervous situations last year, two years ago, three years ago. That is part of football."

Liverpool could end a 29-year wait for the league title if they can hold on until the end of the season and Klopp knows the club's fans are likely to be feeling tense.

"This club has not been champions for 29 years, so how can people sit there and watch it like (they are watching) City?" he said.

"I don't know how often they have been champions in the last five or six years – 'Yeah, one more, why not? Whatever.'

"It's a different situation. We really, the people really, desperately want it, that is how it is, they really want it with all they have. I get that and we try with all we have. But there are no guarantees. I am not a nervous person."
