An attorney for R&nbsp;Kelly on Friday called a new documentary series about the R&amp;B singer a "for-profit hit piece," and said the latest accusations of abuse by the Grammy-winning musician were a "complete fabrication."'

The six-hour documentary 'Surviving R&nbsp;Kelly,' which aired earlier this month on US&nbsp;cable channel Lifetime, includes allegations from multiple women who accuse Kelly of sexual misconduct, sometimes with minors.

Kelly, 52, the Chicago singer and record producer best known for his hit song 'I Believe I Can Fly,' has for years denied accusations of abuse, including those made in the new documentary.

Steve Greenberg, an attorney for Kelly, said in an interview on Friday that there was no evidence to support the accusations contained in the documentary, calling it a "for-profit hit piece full of falsities, full of mistakes."

The Lifetime series featured interviews with several women making on-camera allegations of sexual, mental and physical abuse by Kelly, as well as interviews with some of his former managers and producers.

The latest accusations echo similar ones against the singer dating back 25 years. After the documentary aired, Chicago's top prosecutor called on potential victims and witnesses to come forward.

"We cannot seek justice without you," Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx said this week at a news conference.

According to media reports, prosecutors in Georgia have contacted an attorney for an Atlanta-area couple who appeared in the documentary and accuse Kelly of brainwashing their daughter.

Reuters was unable independently to verify the accusations in the documentary and could not immediately reach prosecutors for comment.

"Times Square itself is the ultimate agora and public space," noting that the area was named after the New York Times and that it was a Times publisher, Adolf Ochs, who began the tradition of the ball drop in 1907.&nbsp;

Joel Simon, executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalists, said the Times Square Alliance approached his group because of "the perception that the journalism and journalists, in particular, are under threat and their role is being questioned."

Simon, who said he usually spends New Year`s Eve playing Scrabble with his wife in New Hampshire`s White Mountains, will be in the spotlight at the Times Square festivities, joining Mayor Bill de Blasio to launch the ball drop a minute before midnight.

Simon will be joined onstage by an array of journalists from US and international news outlets. The names were still being finalized on Friday, the Times Square Alliance said.

"I felt comfortable with Bradley, not just because he is a hunk like Sam but because Bradley is such a kind and loving and real person," she said."I`m so honored to have you as my friend," she said while paying tribute to Cooper.

At one point during her speech, Gaga became a bit emotional and shed a few tears on the stage.

Expressing how thankful she was to have Cooper in her life, the songstress said, "I`m so grateful to you, not just for making me a better actress, but I have been able to call on you as a friend, and cry and be myself and have you never ever judge me and still respect me as a professional.I have never had an artistic experience like this before.''

A TV news crew located Martin Sheen safe on Friday night at Zuma Beach in Malibu, where he said the couple were fine and "probably going to sleep in the car tonight." 
 
Sheen said the fire was the worst he had seen in 48 years of living in Malibu. 
 
"I`ve never seen one with this intensity, for this long, that took out so much property and caused such havoc," he said.

Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga were among thousands fleeing their homes on Friday as a fast-moving wildfire engulfed Malibu and nearby celebrity neighbourhoods.

Kardashian, who on Thursday evacuated the home she shares in nearby Calabasas with Kanye West, tweeted on Friday that she "heard the flames have hit our property... but now are more contained and have stopped."

The entire 12,000-strong population of Malibu, which stretches 27 miles (43.5 km) along the Pacific Ocean in Southern California and up into the Santa Monica mountains, was placed under mandatory evacuation on Friday as the Woolsey fire exploded overnight.

The City of Malibu's Twitter account said the fire was burning out of control.

Malibu and Calabasas are home to hundreds of celebrities and entertainment executives attracted by its ocean views, rolling hills and large, isolated estates. Current and former residents include Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks, Judd Apatow and Britney Spears.

Celebrity website TMZ reported that the Malibu home of Caitlyn Jenner, America's best-known transgender activist, was destroyed by the flames on Friday. Her publicist could not confirm the status of her house but told Reuters that Jenner was safe.

Residents posted pleas on social media for help evacuating horses and other large animals, while long lines of traffic clogged the only coastal highway in and out of Malibu.

Cher, who said she had lived in Malibu since 1972, tweeted that the wildfire was coming close to her home, although she said she was not on the property.

"Friends houses have burned. I can't bear the thought of there being no Malibu," the singer posted.

Lady Gaga posted a video on her Instagram account saying she had evacuated her Malibu home on Friday and showing images of dark billowing smoke overhead.

Movie director Guillermo del Toro tweeted that he had abandoned his vast "Bleak House" museum collection of fantasy and horror memorabilia.

"Bleak House and the collection may be endangered but the gift of life remains," tweeted del Toro, director of Oscar best picture winner "The Shape of Water."

The Malibu area is also home to dozens of filming locations. One of them, the Western Town at Paramount Ranch where television series "Westworld" is filmed, was destroyed, according to the Santa Monica Mountains Twitter account.

The mansion used to shoot "The Bachelor" TV series was "in grave danger," ABC television executive Robert Mills posted on Twitter.

Alyssa Milano, a leading force in the #MeToo social movement against sexual harassment, asked for help getting five horses out of the area and said she had taken her "kids, dogs, computer and my Doc Marten boots."

Rainn Wilson, former star of "The Office," singer Melissa Etheridge, and Roma Downey, the wife of "The Apprentice" producer Mark Burnett, all said they had scrambled to evacuate at short notice.
