According to local media reports, the accused told the police during interrogation that he drove into the birds because “roads are for people. It’s up to the pigeons to avoid cars.”

The police were first informed of the incident after a passerby, who was startled by loud engine noise, spotted the driver moving towards the birds.

A postmortem examination was later performed on the pigeon, and it was found that the bird’s death was caused due to a traumatic shock.

If found guilty, Ozawa would have violated Japan's Wildlife Protection, Control, and Hunting Management Act.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has claimed that Russian warships are still launching attacks. 
 
A Ukrainian Navy spokesman said that Russia has continued launching strikes from the Black Sea, comparing the operations to “a chicken running around without a head.” 
 
“At this moment, they (the Russian Navy) lost the person who actually manages all of this, and his staff, who manages the fleet together with him,"&nbsp;Dmytro Pletenchuk said on national television.

"This is a large grouping that requires a great number of managers to run all the processes to make it (the fleet) work as a single mechanism. Imagine that the core part of this mechanism becomes inoperable,” said the Ukraine Navy spokesperson, according to a CNN report.

Pletenchuk stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not control the actual operation of ships at sea” and is dependent on his admirals who know “their means and forces, personnel, how to manage them, how to better deploy them.” 
 
“Therefore, as of now, they will have respective problems with the control of the troops,” he added. 
 
Earlier, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces claimed that Sokolov, along with 33 other officers were killed in the strikes launched on the Black Sea headquarters in Sevastopol on Friday, which was perhaps the boldest step taken by the Ukrainian forces on the Russia-annexed peninsula of Crimea so far. 
 
Ukraine also said that more than 100 other Russian servicemen suffered injuries in the special operations dubbed “Crab Trap,” that took place when senior members of Russia’s Navy were engaged in a meeting. 
 
Moscow stated that one serviceman went missing as a result of the attack carried out by Ukraine on Sevastopol.

The Ukrainian army has been increasingly hitting strategic Russian targets located in Crimea, the Black Sea region of southern Ukraine which was occupied by Moscow in 2014. 
 
Ukraine hopes to reclaim it.

Ukrainian Defence Intelligence spokesperson Andrii Yusov said Russia was using Crimea as a “logistics hub” and that “the ultimate goal, of course, is the de-occupation of Ukrainian Crimea.”

Sydney Powell of Akron, Ohio, guilty of murder, tampering with evidence and felonious assault in the brutal killing of healthcare worker Brenda Powell, who was 50 years old. 
 
"In March of 2020, Sydney Powell struck Brenda Powell in the head with an iron skillet, then stabbed her nearly 30 times in the neck," said Summit County Prosecutor's Office, in a release.

Powell, who was a former student of Mount Union University, was seen crying in the Summit County Common Pleas courtroom after she was found guilty by the jury, reported&nbsp;The Akron Beacon Journal.

Brenda, 50, was found dead by police on 3 March 2020 inside her Scudder Drive home.&nbsp;

The woman, who was a child life specialist at Akron Children's Hospital, was severely injured. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

She had been attacked by Powell while she was talking to officials from her school on the phone, New York Post reported.

 
The defence argued that Powell suffered from schizophrenia and hence the court cannot hold her accountable for murder.

'Powell suffered a psychotic break when she killed her mother'

James Reardon, one of the three experts who appeared for the defence who diagnosed Powell's schizophrenia, said she suffered a psychotic break when she killed her mother who she used to consider her best friend. 
 
Sylvia O'Bradovich, the psychologist hired by prosecutors, did not agree with the diagnosis and said Powell failed to meet the legal definition of insanity when the crime was committed.

O'Bradovich said Powell has been suffering from mental health issues, which include malingering, anxiety disorder and borderline personality traits. 
 
Speaking about the incident in court, Assistant Prosecutor Brian Stano said, "Sydney stopped attacking with the pan, presumably went to the kitchen with a knife," according to the Akron Beacon Journal. 
 
"She had to switch weapons and keep attacking her. Just the knife just in the neck multiple times? That is purposeful. That is trying to end someone," Stano added.

The sentencing of Powell has been scheduled for September 28.

US: Woman stabs her mother 30 times for finding her college secret

A local politician from India’s Punjab belonging to the Congress party was shot and killed in Dala village of Moga district allegedly by a terrorist who has ties with a Khalistan radical outfit.

The deceased identified as Baljinder Singh Balli (45) was shot twice after some&nbsp;assailants barged into his house later Monday. While one bullet pierced his chest, the other hit his thigh.

Police said that the assailants came on a bike. While one entered the house, the other kept waiting outside.

The incident was captured on CCTV installed outside Balli's residence in Dala village. He was the Congress block president in Ajitwal.

<h2>Revenge killing&nbsp;</h2>

Hours later, a gangster and a designated terrorist, Arshdeep Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, took responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post purportedly from his account. He is currently a permanent resident of Canada.

Dalla said he killed Balli to exact revenge for keeping his mother in police custody and getting his friends arrested.

“I am responsible for the murder of Balli in Dala village because it was my own village’s politics which had made me tread this path. This man (Balli) was responsible for keeping my mother in CIA (police) custody for a week and he also got my friends arrested. He was hand in glove with police… and got my home vandalised. He destroyed my home just to gain his own afsar shaahi… My life’s aim was not to live my own life but to kill him. If we wished, we would have killed his child too but that child was nowhere at fault…. those who are sympathising with him, their homes are also not far for us…,”&nbsp;the post says in Punjabi.
