A mother and daughter lost their lives in an explosion at their residence in Balochistan&#39;s Panjgur area on Sunday.

An army jawan was killed in an unprovoked firing by Pakistan soldiers along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.&nbsp;

Sunday&rsquo;s 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck villages and towns in the mountainous area of Kermanshah province that borders Iraq while many people were at home asleep. At least 14 provinces in Iran were affected.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani arrived in the morning in the earthquake-stricken area in Kermanshah and promised that the government &ldquo;will use all its power to resolve the problems in the shortest time&rdquo;.

State television said thousands were huddling in makeshift camps while many others spent the second night in the open for fear of more tremors after some 193 aftershocks.

A homeless young woman in Sarpol-e Zahab, one of the hardest-hit towns, told state TV that her family was exposed to the night cold because of lack of tents.

&ldquo;We need help. We need everything. The authorities should speed up their help,&rdquo; she said.

Television showed footage of rescue workers frantically combing through the rubble of dozens of villages immediately after the quake. But Iranian officials said the chances of finding any more survivors were extremely low.

&ldquo;The rescue operations in Kermanshah province have ended,&rdquo; Pir-Hossein Kolivand, head of Iran&rsquo;s Emergency Medical Services, said on state TV.

Iran&rsquo;s top authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, offered his condolences on Monday and called on government agencies to do all they could to help.

Iranian police, the elite Revolutionary Guards and its affiliated Basij militia forces were dispatched to affected areas on Sunday night.

Niel Hoegel, 41, is serving life imprisonment for two murders and four counts of attempted murder for using lethal drugs on intensive-care patients at the Delmenhorst hospital in 2015.&nbsp;

In late August, police had confirmed that Hoegel may have killed at least another 84 patients other than the ones he was serving time for, when Niels Hoegel&#39;s worked as the nurse in two hospitals in Oldenburg and Delmenhorst.

Police further said that they have finished running toxicology tests on other reported 41 fatalities.

According to Independent UK, toxicological examinations uncovered further 16 cases in which he is suspected to have killed patients.&nbsp;

The landslide occurred on Banganga-Ardhkuwari road around midnight and the debris fell on a shelter where the pilgrims were sitting, chief executive officer (CEO) of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Ajeet Sahu told PTI. 
 
&quot;Three pilgrims including a five-year-old died on the spot and another person was brought dead at the&nbsp;hospital,&quot; the CEO said. 
 
The victims were identified as 29-year-old Shashidhar Kumar of Banglore, 30-year-old Bindu Sahni and her 5-year-old son Vishal from Chhattisgarh, besides 32-year-old Sadik of Reasi who was a &#39;ponywalla&#39;, CEO said. 
 
Additional superintendent of police (ASP), Reasi, Sanjay Rana said that nine people were also injured in the incident.&nbsp;While seven of them were given first aid, two others were admitted to Kata hospital with serious injuries, he said.

Jammu and Kashmir landslide: 4 killed, 9 injured

A court in Bangladesh on Thursday allowed police to detain two men over the attack claimed by militant group Islamic State on a cafe in the capital, Dhaka, that killed 20 hostages, mostly foreigners. 
 
The case has drawn criticism from human rights groups who say the suspects were illegally detained and denied access to a lawyer. A lawyer for one of the two men, Hasnat Karim, said his client was innocent and demanded his immediate release.&nbsp; 
 
Karim, who holds dual British and Bangladeshi citizenship, and Tahmid Hasib Khan, a student of Toronto University, were dining separately with family and friends when gunmen stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery on the evening of July 1. 
 
The suspected Islamist militants singled out non-Muslims and foreigners, killing Italians, Japanese, an American and an Indian before security forces stormed the eatery to end the 12-hour siege. Two police also died in the operation. 
 
On Thursday, a Dhaka court remanded the men in custody for eight days for interrogation, with police official Masudur Rahman telling reporters they had been arrested on Wednesday night &quot;from two different places&quot;.&nbsp;

He said terrorists opened-fire on the police team, and that constable Muhammad Javed died while sub-inspector Muhammad Tariq and frontier corps personnel Muhammad Sajjad sustained critical bullet wounds. 
 
They were shifted to Peshawar for treatment.&nbsp;In retaliation, he said, police shot dead a terrorist identified as Anwar Sayed wanted in cases of terrorism. 
 
The police arrested two brothers of the terrorist from the house and also recovered a hand-grenade, one Kalashnikov, two pistols and cartridges.&nbsp;A search operation was conducted after the encounter during which dozens of suspects were taken into custody. 
 
In a separate incident, at least 42 suspected people, including 19 undocumented Afghan nationals, were arrested during a search operation in Hayatabad area of Peshawar district, bordering Khyber Agency.&nbsp;Drugs and arms were also recovered from some of the suspects.

In the Agadez region, annual rainfall seldom exceeds 130 millimetres and floods like those seen in recent days are rare.&nbsp; 
 
But since June, as much as 115 millimetres has regularly been falling in a matter of hours, according to weather reports. 
 
Nigerien authorities and the UN have been distributing food aid to help families displaced by the flooding.&nbsp; 
 
Niger is in the midst of its annual rainy season, having struggled to overcome a severe food crisis caused by drought.
