Government on Friday refuted the report of moving additional troops to Jammu and Kashmir after it ordered the deployment of 10,000 central forces personnel in the valley.

"100 companies had been ordered for deployment about a week ago, which are in the process of reaching their destinations. This has apparently led to speculations of induction of additional forces," news agency ANI quoted Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sources.

"Based on assessment of internal security situation, training requirements, the need for paramilitary troops to be rotated for rest and recuperation, induction and de-induction of central forces is a continuous and dynamic process," MHA sources said further.

On Thursday, news agency PTI had reported that additional 280 companies of security forces (28,000 security personnel) were being sent to the valley by the government to strengthen counter-insurgency operations and law and order situation.

Last week, the central government had moved 10,000 central forces personnel to valley following National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visit to Jammu and Kashmir. During his two-day-visit, Doval had held meetings with senior officers and reviewed law and order situation in the valley.

Security agencies had in July confirmed inputs that Pakistan army-backed terrorist groups are planning to carry out a major attack on Indian soil. Inputs have been received by the security and spy agencies that after the successful conduct of Panchayat elections in the state, terrorist groups have been asked to carry out an attack on forces.

Government denies deploying additional troops in Jammu and Kashmir: Report

After US president offered to mediate on Kashmir during his meeting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan last month, Trump once again reiterated his stand asserting that it was "really up to Prime Minister Modi to accept the offer of mediation."

During Imran's visit to the White House on July 22, Trump had told the Pakistan prime minister that he would "love to be a mediator", although the US State Department had said later that it was a bilateral issue concerning Islamabad and New Delhi, adding, however, that Washington was "ready to assist".

Trump speaking to reporters on Thursday said: "It’s really up to Prime Minister Modi (to accept the offer of mediation). I think they are fantastic people - Khan and Modi - I mean. I would imagine they could get along very well, but if they wanted somebody to intervene, to help them and I spoke with Pakistan about that and I spoke frankly in India about it. If I can, if they wanted me to, I would certainly intervene."

During his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Trump claimed that he had spoken to PM Modi on the Kashmir issue which was later denied by the ministry of external affairs.

"So I was with Prime Minister Narendra Modi two weeks ago and we talked about this subject. And he actually said, would you actually like to be a mediator or arbitrator? Did I say, where? He said Kashmir because this has been going for many, many years. I was surprised at how long it has been going on," Trump had said while hosting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House.

"It should be resolved, so he has to think the same thing, so maybe I will speak to him and we will see what we can do," he added.

After Trump made his remarks on Kashmir, India in a swift response clarified that no such request was made by Modi to the US President.

"No such request has been made by PM Modi to US President. It has been India's consistent position," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

"Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross border terrorism. The Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration provide the basis to resolve all issues between India and Pakistan bilaterally," the external affairs ministry spokesman added.

'Cut short stay, return as soon as possible': Jammu and Kashmir government to tourists, Amarnath pilgrims

Apiculture or beekeeping is an age-old-tradition in Jammu and Kashmir. With scientific interventions, it is emerging as a lucrative business in the state, generating more income and employment opportunities for locals.

The tourism sector is witnessing a surge in the state with beekeeping. Areas in and around Bhaderwah town of Doda district, such as Bhalla and Sarthal, have emerged as hotspots for honeybee tourism as they have an abundance of flowering plants - one of the major requirements for successful beekeeping. Tourists are visiting these areas both to relax in the lap of nature and to learn the nuances of apiculture. One of the tourists, Amir Sohrawardi said, "Though we came to Sarthal because of its captivating landscapes, the apiculture that is practised here gave us another reason to stay.

I believe apiculture has a lot of potential and if it is harnessed adequately, then honey from Jammu and Kashmir can even be exported to other countries."Beekeeping is the only industry which not only produces honey and beeswax but also assists in enhancing crop-production through the pollination process.

This particular industry does not require much investment except the material in the form of nectar and pollen from flowers, which is easily available in the natural surroundings of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, the presence of large swathes of forests and negligible use of pesticides in cropped lands provide a conducive atmosphere for the production of organic honey. Beekeepers in Sarthal are trying their level best to tap this potential of natural resources.

They are using indigenous honeybees, 'Apis cerena indica', which are even instrumental in enhancing agricultural productivity as they are natural pollinators for a range of fruits and crops. Along with this, beekeepers in this area practice migratory beekeeping that increases honey production manifold as compared to stationary ones.

An official from the Apiculture Department, Mohammad Shabir, said, "We have been placing these honeybee boxes in Sarthal for the last 25-30 years. The season starts from April and continues till August and then the honeybees are migrated. A lot of tourists come in this season to see these honeybees, their honey is also in much demand. "Presently, Jammu and Kashmir import honey worth Rs. 8.5 million from other states, but if its honeybee keeping potential is effectively utilised, it will not only help in attracting tourists but also provide a livelihood to many people in the state.

Donald Trump said maybe the US can intercede in strained India, Pakistan relations, news agency Reuters said.

This is the first time the US president has offered to intervene in the Kashmir dispute. Trump had earlier taken credit for Hafiz Saeed's arrest in Pakistan which took place last week. India has strongly refused any mediation over the Kashmir issue.

On Friday, Trump said he was ready to help South Korea and Japan solve their long standing dispute over World War II-era forced labour that has recently put a brake on trade ties between the two countries.

In 2017, Trump offered to mediate territorial disputes in the South China Sea between China, Vietnam and other Asia-Pacific countries - a proposal that did not move forward.

The much-anticipated meeting between the US president and the Pakistan prime minister took place at the White House as Pakistan sought to renew its friendship with the US which has been stymied with repeated Trump tweets castigating the Pakistan government on its record on terror.

During the meeting with Imran Trump said the US was working with Pakistan to find a way out of the war in Afghanistan, the US president also held out the possibility of restoring US aid to Pakistan.

We will target root of terrorism inside Pakistan, Balakot strikes not a fluke: Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha

Rocked by militant attacks in the recent past, Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district is updating the list of ultras whose whereabouts are not known and those who are presently in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), police said on Friday.

The decision in this regard was taken at a crime review meeting of police subdivisions of Kishtwar and Atholi, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Shakti K Pathak, they said.

It said the meeting held a threadbare discussion on the police station wise list of militants whose whereabouts are not known and those who are presently in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

"During the meeting, variation was found in the list of such militants maintained by the District Police Office (DPO), Kishtwar, and police stations of the district. In order to update the list of such militants, various instructions and directions were imparted among the Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers concerned for necessary action," the police said.

The district, which falls in Jammu region, was rattled by the killing of state secretary of BJP Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar on November 1 last year, followed by the assassination of senior RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his security guard inside a health centre on April 9.

Besides the killings, militants also snatched the service rifle of a policeman in the district on March 8, days before police circulated pictures of seven wanted terrorists and announced a cash reward and a job for anyone providing information leading to their arrest or killing. Inspector General of Police, Jammu, M K Sinha recently said at least 10 local militants -- eight belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen and two affiliated with Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) -- were active in the district, which also witnessed two encounters between militants and search parties in Marwah area on May 31 and Keshwan forest on June 21

While two special police officers were injured in the brief Marwah gunfight, the militants managed their escape after another brief encounter in Keshwan forest, though one of them was believed to have got injured.

According to police sources, about three dozen local militants have crossed the LoC and are presently living in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The police said the meeting discussed all sensitive and sensational cases with SSP personally checking the case files of such cases and directed the Investigation Officers concerned for speedy disposal of these cases.

"The investigating staff was directed to conduct the investigation of cases with zeal, dedication and with transparency at the earliest and bring the pendency to the minimum," the police said, adding the police station staff was also advised to conduct foot patrolling in their respective jurisdictions.

The meeting also discussed the measures to improve the quality of investigation of accident cases, motor vehicle theft, burglary, NDPS Act and other cases.

Besides, missing persons, inquest proceedings, the arrest of absconders and action taken under preventive measures were also reviewed, the police said, adding the issue of public complaints pending with police sub-division were also discussed.

Meanwhile, the SSP Kishtwar advised the police officers posted in the district in various capacities to provide an honest, clean and fair policing to the general masses.

He directed that there is zero tolerance to corruption, crime and indiscipline at any level.
