The injured have been admitted to a hospital and all of them were reported to be in stable condition, the officials said.

"A failed attempt was made to attack a mobile vehicle patrol of 44 RR with a vehicle-based IED while the Army patrol was moving in the general area Arihal in district Pulwama today evening," he said in a statement here.

"Troops are all safe, (except a) few minor injuries," the defence spokesman said, adding the damage was minimised due to the alertness of the patrol team.&nbsp;

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is in progress, he said.

Speaking after laying wreaths on the coffins of slain CRPF personnel, Kumar said that "there are a lot of people from the community who want to bring the situation to normalcy, however, these kinds of elements coming from outside can change the temperature a little bit, we are resolute and determined".&nbsp;

Attack on security personnel in Anantnag carried out on behest of Pakistan, security for Amarnath Yatra foolproof: J&K Governor

People living along the India-Pakistan international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir will get the benefits of reservation in direct recruitment, promotion and admission in different professional courses, at par with those living along the Actual Line of Control (ALoC).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday.

In keeping with its pro-people initiatives and especially for those at the last mile of the development, the Union Cabinet cleared the decks for approval of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which will be introduced in the forthcoming session of Parliament, according to an official statement.

"The Cabinet decision is a reflection of Prime Minister Modi's vision of a pro-people government committed to Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas and Sabka Vishwas," the statement said.

The move will go a long way in providing relief to the people living in areas adjoining the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

They can now avail the benefits of reservation in direct recruitment, promotion and admission in different professional courses, the statement said.

The Bill will replace the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 through amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 and bringing the persons residing in areas adjoining the IB within the ambit of reservation, at par with those living in areas adjoining the ALoC.

The people living in areas adjoining the IB in Jammu and Kashmir were not included in the ambit of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 and Rules, 2005.

The rules provided for reservation in direct recruitment, promotions and admission in different professional courses to various categories, including the residents of areas adjoining the ALoC. Thus, those living in areas adjoining the IB in Jammu and Kashmir were not getting these benefits for a long time.

Due to continuous cross-border tensions, persons living along the IB suffer from socio-economic and educational backwardness. "Yes, it has been decided," Javadekar told reporters when asked whether the Cabinet gave its nod to extend President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

After the Union Cabinet's nod, President Ram Nath Kovind will sign the proclamation for the imposition of President's rule in the state and it will come into effect on June 20, a home ministry official said.&nbsp;

He lauded the local population for their cooperation in elections and said that ”although some pockets witnessed less percentage, still representatives were chosen. We did elections peacefully. I'm thankful to people,” Malik told media.

Malik added that although the scrapping of article 35-A and 370 were part of political manifestoes of political parties, he asked people not to worry. He said a massive reach-out programme was on cards and in a month, the administration will start working on the outreach.&nbsp;

Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam said "before July 12, we will bring a massive reach-out programme. We need to tell children that life is about living and not dying”.&nbsp;

The Chief Secretary of the state revealed that a letter from the RBI sought action against alleged misappropriation in J&amp;K bank. "We will make a committee and they will decide the new chairman. The Governor urged the people in India to visit Kashmir valley as there was no fear and people were welcoming.&nbsp;
