<p>Considering Shaw is not on BCCI's central contract list due to several reasons related to fitness and off-field chaos that made headlines earlier, and having not played one whole season of IPL since 2021, his cricket career has come down crashing.</p>

<p>Amre, who worked with Shaw at Delhi Capitals during the batter’s last run in the IPL, commented on his current status, saying Shaw could have earned $3.5 million (INR 30-40 crore) by the age of 23. Amre added because Shaw failed to handle the glamour and money that IPL brought along, he has himself to blame.</p>

<p>While Shaw’s contemporaries, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, are top players for India and their respective IPL teams, earning in crores, Shaw remained unsold despite his lower base price this time (INR 75 lakh).</p>

<p>"It's so disappointing to see that a talent like him is going in reverse direction... Even today, he can hit a 30-ball fifty in the IPL. Maybe he couldn't handle the glamour and money, the side-effects of the IPL. His example can be a case study in Indian cricket... Talent alone can't take you to the top. The three Ds - discipline, determination and dedication - are important," Amre said of Shaw during a chat with Times of India (TOI).</p>

<h2><strong>Don't be another Kambli - Amre to Shaw</strong></h2>

<p>Amre continued how he (three years ago) gave Shaw Vinod Kambli’s example, hoping for him to learn from his experience and try and work harder to avoid suffering the same fate; however, as destiny had it, Shaw seemed to be on the same track.</p>

<p>"Three years back, I gave him Vinod Kambli's example. I've seen Kambli's downfall from close quarters. It's not easy to teach certain things to this generation. Thanks to being retained by DC, Prithvi must have earned Rs 30-40 crore by the time he was 23. Will even an IIM graduate get that type of money? When you earn so much at such a young age, you tend to lose focus," Amre continued.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Amre wants Shaw to take this snub as a positive, as he has age on his side and the talent to bring him back on track.</p>

<p>"I hope he takes this IPL auction snub positively. It's an eye-opener for him. He's still got age on his side. He's just 25," Amre noted.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the auction with the highest purse and made a huge buy in Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore (above $3 million) while Rishabh Pant went to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore (approx $3.1 million).</p>

<p>The Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auctions took centre stage for day 1 on Sunday (Nov 24) as the franchises splashed the cash on big names like Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler and others. While foreign players were the attraction in the auction, it was the Indian players who gathered headlines, with Pant breaking the IPL record for most expensive player with a price tag of $3.2 million and Shreyas Iyer being the second-most expensive with $3.1 million.</p>

<h2><strong>CSK win the bid for Ashwin</strong></h2>

<p>In a tightly contested bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and CSK, it was the South Indian side who won the bid for Ashwin. While both tables did not give up, CSK were determined to get the deal done and paid a whopping price of $1.15 million. Interestingly, the leg spinner was a crowd favourite with both CSK and RR and will bring tonnes of experience to the former.</p>

<p>The veteran spinner has 180 wickets in 212 matches and is a handy batter down the order, giving good utility options to CSK. During his first stint with CSK, he scalped 90 wickets in 98 matches and won the IPL on two occasions in 2010 and 2011. He also won the now-defunct Champions League on two occasions with CSK.</p>

<p>“The highly anticipated TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auction List is out with a total of 574 players set to be featured in the Mega Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24th and 25th November, 2024. Out of the 574 Players, 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including 3 players from associate nations. The Auction will include 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas players. 204 slots will be up for grabs with 70 available slots for overseas players,” an IPL release read.</p>

<p>With 46 players retained by the 10 franchises before the&nbsp;October 31 deadline, franchises are now gearing up for the auctions as they try to build their squad for IPL 2025. During the retention window, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, SunRisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants retained five players while Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals used all six retention cards. Punjab Kings retained the least number of players with two and have a purse of more than ₹1 billion ($10 million) to spend in the auctions.</p>
