Ind vs SA, 4th T20I Live Streaming: When and where to watch India vs South Africa series finale

South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has taken a dig at the national board and slammed the scheduling of the ongoing T20I series against India on Thursday (Nov 14). The Proteas are playing India in a four-match T20I series, which was not part of the Future Tour Programs (FTP) of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The series comes days before India is also scheduled to play Australia in the Test series in another part of the world while the Men in Blue have two different squads.

Klaasen slams cricket scheduling

"I'm just saying, people need to understand that tight schedule is what we go through. It's in the heat of the moment. There are a billion people that are going to be on your head if you fail. There's a lot of frustration and I was looking especially in the way that I struck the ball tonight. It's nice to see that he's finding some rhythm in his game, and hopefully he will kick on,” Klaasen said after the third T20I against India.

While South Africa is coping with the added series with its current crop of players, India has roughly 50-60 players playing for the national team in various senior and junior squads. Pointing out the finger on the same, Klaasen reckons India has the resources to adjust to the added scheduling of the series, while that is not the case for South Africa.

As things stand, India has a different T20I squad in South Africa while the senior Test squad is preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. To add more players to the contingent, the India A squad also has players who are not part of either squad but are in Australia for the warm-up matches.

Riding on Tilak Varma's 107* and Abhishek Sharma's 50, India posted 219/6 before restricting Proteas for 208/7.
Axar's catch came at a vital time. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen were in the middle for SA with the hosts needing 86 off the last five overs. In the 16th over, Miller smashed Hardik for a six on the fourth ball and went for another maximum on the next delivery. It was a short-pitched ball and Miller seemed to have timed it well. However, it didn't get the desired elevation. Axar, on the other hand, quickly judged the height of the ball and timed his jump to perfection to claim the catch. After Miller's fall, SA were 142/5 and had a herculean task to win.

IND vs SA, 3rd T20I: BIZARRE! Flying Ants stop play as South Africa chase 220

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik feels Sanju Samson has cemented his spot as an opener in T20Is. During the ongoing India-South Africa series, in the African nation, Samson struck a magnificent 107 -- becoming the first Indian to hit successive T20I centuries -- in the first T20I, in Durban. Riding on his ton, Suryakumar Yadav-led Men in Blue thrashed Aiden Markram-led hosts by 61 runs. Sanju, however, failed to get going in the second T20I, being out for a 3-ball duck as SA levelled the series with a three-wicket win in Gqeberha.

Speaking on Samson, DK lavished praise on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper and labelled him a 'special player'. Karthik feels Samson has made a few technical changes to his game and focused on six-hitting, making him a force to reckon with in T20Is.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, DK said, "I think he [Samson] has cemented his spot as an opener. Yashasvi Jaiswal and him will be the openers at least for some time to come in the T20 format. He has made a lot of technical changes, especially suited to this format. He focused a lot on six-hitting."

Karthik further highlighted, "Against Keshav Maharaj, he stepped out but missed the length of the ball (in the first T20I). Maharaj did brilliantly to beat him in the air, but Sanju held his position and waited on the shot, hitting it over covers. That's a man who, even when he misses the length, doesn't panic and holds that extra second." He added, "That's a very tough skill to have, but he does it very well. That's what makes him very special."

Samson would be keen to get another big score in the third and penultimate T20I, which will be held in Centurion on Wednesday (Nov 13). The four-match series is interestingly poised at 1-1.

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has urged the Rohit Sharma-led team management to consider picking Varun Chakravarthy for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy. Chakravarthy has been in roaring form since his comeback in the national side and picked up a brilliant 5 for 17 in India's narrow three-wicket loss to South Africa in the second T20I, of the four-match series, on Sunday (Nov 10), in Gqeberha. Following Chakravarthy's heroics, DK shared a post on X and urged India to pick the in-form spinner for next year's ICC event.
India may have lost the second T20I against South Africa on Sunday (Nov 10) but spinner Varun Chakravarthy had the game of his life.
Chakravarthy, who finished with the figures of 5/17 in his four overs, registered the joint-best bowling figures by an Indian against South Africa in T20Is. South Africa vs India 2024, 1st T20I: Match preview and result prediction

Sanju Samson smashed his maiden T20I ton during the home Bangladesh series, early this month. The right-hander was part of the Rohit Sharma-led India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 edition, co-hosted by West Indies and the USA, eventually won by the Men in Blue. While he warmed the bench during the group stage, Super Sixes and semifinal, he was asked to 'be ready' for the final, versus South Africa in Barbados on June 29. However, India went ahead with an unchanged XI. Samson recently recalled his snub and how captain Rohit spent a lot of time with him, prior to the game, explaining his omission and, thereby, winning his heart.

Samson told journalist Vimal Kumar in an interview, "I had a chance to play the final. I was told to stay ready. I was ready. However, they decided before the toss that we would go with the same team. I was like, no worries. I was in that type of mood."

He mentioned, "During the warm-up, Rohit took me to the side and started to explain to me why he is making that decision. He was like, You understood, na? You know his way, very casual? I told him, 'Let us win the match and then talk.' You focus on the match."

'I will have a regret to not play a World Cup final with a leader like you'

Samson then stated, "He (Rohit) came back one minute later and said, 'I know you are cursing me in your mind.' I think you are not happy. I feel like you have something on your mind. Then we had a discussion."

The swashbuckling batter further opined, "I told him, 'As a player, I want to play'. Since childhood, I wanted to come here and do something. Then he was like, 'My pattern is like this' and all that. I said I totally respect that you came and explained me. I said, 'I will have a regret; I could not play a World Cup final with a leader like you.' This will be a regret in my heart that I missed a World Cup final with a leader like Rohit Sharma. That will stay in my life."

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper revealed how Hitman won his heart with his gesture just ahead of the big-ticket finale. "After this, I thought, such a big thing like a World Cup final. Before the final, you have changed your decision. You spent 10 minutes with the player that is not playing just before the toss. He gave me 10 minutes before the toss. After that, I got to know this person has some other qualities."

"If I were in their place, I would be thinking about the players who are playing or my batting. I will explain to Sanju later; that is what normally you think. At that point, he thought 'I have to explain to Sanju, why I took that decision.' At that point, he won a place in my heart that will stay for a lifetime," Samson added.

Instead of Samson, Indian team management trusted Rishabh Pant to do the job behind the stumps despite his ordinary returns with the bat throughout the mega event. Moreover, even Shivam Dube didn't have a fruitful run, hence, many contemplated Samson would get a look-in before the summit clash. However, India didn't tweak their winning combination and it resulted in both Pant and Dube playing key roles in India's win. While Pant smartly halted the game for sometime before the end overs, when the momentum was firmly with South Africa, whereas Dube smashed a vital 16-ball 27 as India posted 178-7 (mainly riding on Virat Kohli's 76 and Axar Patel's 47) after opting to bat first at the Kensington Oval.

In reply, SA were in prime position and only needed 30 off the last five overs before Jasprit Bumrah (2 for 18), Arshdeep Singh (2 for 20) and Hardik Pandya (3 for 20)'s death-overs bowling masterclass took India to a famous seven-run win. Post the historic win, Rohit and Kohli retired from T20Is.

He gave me 10 minutes before the toss. After that, I got to know this person has some other qualities." "If I were in their place, I would be thinking about the players who are playing or my batting. I will explain to Sanju later; that is what normally you think. At that point, he thought 'I have to explain to Sanju, why I took that decision.' At that point, he won a place in my heart that will stay for a lifetime," Samson added.

You spent 10 minutes with a player who is not playing: Samson recalls Rohit's gesture after T20 WC final snub

David Miller recalled the last-over drama from India versus South Africa 2024 T20 World Cup final, held in Kensington Oval, Barbados on June 29. Two unbeaten teams met in the marquee final as SA aimed to win their maiden ICC WC title whereas Rohit Sharma-led India were eyeing their first success in an ICC event since the 2013 Champions Trophy. Chasing 177, the Aiden Markram-led Proteas were left with 16 to get off the final over. India's then vice-captain Hardik Pandya bowled the final over -- after Jasprit Bumrah (2 for 18) and Arshdeep Singh (2 for 20)'s death-overs heroics. The Indian all-rounder removed Miller, the last recognised batter, and finished with 3 for 20 to guide India to a stunning seven-run win.

'I wasn't expecting a full toss, it just caught me a little bit off guard'

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Miller recently walked down memory lane and spoke about Hardik's delivery (a wide full-toss outside off-stump) which got him out. "Sport is not fair for everyone. I wouldn't have done anything different on that ball, accept for timing it better. I wasn't actually expecting a full toss like that. I always do kind of have a full toss in mind, but it just caught me a little bit off guard and I got it just slightly wrong. But it was a little breeze that was kind of coming across us. Not necessarily into us. But it was slightly more in and across."

From thereon, Heinrich Klaasen (27-ball 52) and Miller looked set to take Proteas home with them needing only 30 off the last five overs.

However, Bumrah, Hardik and Arshdeep combined to take India out of troubled waters in the death overs, bowling smartly and taking key wickets, to restrict SA to 169-8.

Lamenting the loss, Miller added, "Frustration, disappointment, failure. All these negative things come into your head. It was the moment for me to win the game. But it wasn't for me to do it. Wasn't expecting...: Miller recalls dismissal from Ind vs SA T20 WC final, says 'it was really frustrating...'

It has been over a month since Rohit Sharma-led India won the 2024 T20 World Cup, held in West Indies and the USA. In the mega final, India beat South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling clash at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on June 29. With this, Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure also ended, with Gautam Gambhir succeeding him. After India's win, the team was stranded in Barbados for a couple of days due to Hurricane Beryl. The hurricane had also prompted a 48-hour closure of the airport before BCCI Secretary Jay Shah arranged a Chartered Flight (which comprised the players, team management and even journalists) for a lengthy 16-hour journey to New Delhi.

During the lengthy flight, a Star Sports producer, who was travelling with the team, shared details of what the players were up to. The energy was high as players hardly slept and the producer revealed that Dravid left business class and came to the economy whereas captain Rohit was seen jokingly 'scolding' someone.

As per a report in HT, the producer said, "On this flight, Barbados to Delhi, I think hardly anyone slept for more than six hours. That would have been the maximum. At no point was anyone quiet. Everyone was mingling around. Players came to meet the members of the press and few others. Star Sports engineers were also part of the flight because theirs was cancelled and they were also accommodated. But there was a lot of interaction. Rohit Sharma came several times. I believe at one moment, Rahul Dravid came up to the economy section to figure out if there was a 4-seater because he wanted to sleep. He came there from the business class and slept there for some time."

He further opined, "I remember I was sleeping and I could suddenly hear Rohit scolding somebody. I saw and he was standing right there. But Rohit, in his style was scolding jokingly. After that, Hardik came, Rishabh came and they were all having discussions with the media. So obviously, there was a lot of chatter."

Upon landing in India on July 4, the entire Indian team was cheered by the general public. Even the airport staff were seen clapping for the victorious Men in Blue. Despite a lengthy flight, the Indian team remained high in spirits and had a hectic day. They checked in at the ITC Maurya, New Delhi, where they were welcomed with drums and roar before leaving to meet PM Narendra Modi.
Dravid left business class, Rohit was scolding...: Titbits from India's Barbados-Delhi flight post T20 WC win

Former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey lauded pacer Jasprit Bumrah while recalling his spell in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. On June 29, Rohit Sharma-led India faced South Africa in the tournament finale, in Barbados. The Men in Blue had only 30 to defend in the last five overs, after posting 176-7, with Heinrich Klaasen going bonkers at one end. Rohit turned to Bumrah who choked the run-flow before Hardik Pandya (3 for 19) chipped in with key wickets and Arshdeep Singh also bowled a brilliant penultimate over to take India home by 7 runs.

Bumrah ended with 2 for 18 and finished with the Player-of-the-Tournament award for taking 15 wickets (third-most) at a priceless economy of 4.17. He even eased the pressure off Arshdeep, who returned with 2 for 20 in the final. Mhambrey, part of the Rahul Dravid-led coaching staff, recently heaped praise on Bumrah for his 'magical' spell and labelled him a 'leader' within the group.

'Ability to bowl the right ball at the right time doesn't come overnight'

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Mhambrey recalled the end overs of the T20 WC final where Bumrah led the charge. He said, "One word comes to my mind, that is magical. He's it's brilliant, isn't he? He is a once-in-a-generation bowler, no doubt about it. It's his skills and adaptability because he does it in all three formats, not only in T20s. He's No.1 in all three formats right now. Having skills is one thing, but executing them every time is another. Credit goes to his non-match day routines. If you look at his work ethic, you will see that he's extremely focused. The ability to bowl the right ball at the right time doesn't come overnight. He does it nine out of 10 times."

He further opined, "It's just the confidence that he has in his ability. He's never in doubt. That reflects in the way you see him on the ground. And that's because of his leadership skills. He is an out-and-out leader in the team. You need someone like him. Someone who has so much experience, you want him to share that experience with the other kids around. Whenever I see Jasprit Bumrah, I see a leader on the ground."

The ex-bowling coach added, "Sometimes, it's easy to say a lot of things and not follow through. But he's a guy who will say it and then show everyone how to do it. People on the team know he's a guy who does what he says—walks the talk."

Notably, head coach Dravid, Vikram Rathour (batting coach), and Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach) ended their run with Team India post the T20 WC (co-hosted by West Indies and the USA). Only T Dilip (fielding coach) has been retained in the new coaching staff, led by new head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Axar was promoted at No. 5, to maintain a left-right batting combination, when Suryakumar Yadav was out for cheap, leaving Kohli stranded at one end. After that (Yuzvendra) Chahal came running to tell me that Rahul (Dravid) Bhai wants me to pad up. When I was padding up I did not know what to do. 'If you think you can...': Axar Patel recalls Virat Kohli's words during crucial partnership in T20 WC final

Rohit Sharma-led India won the 2024 T20 World Cup, beating South Africa by 7 runs in an epic final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on June 29. Opting to bat first, India rode on Virat Kohli's 76, Axar Patel's 47 and Shivam Dube's 27 to post 176/7 but Heinrich Klaasen's blazing knock (52) made it a one-sided battle with the Proteas needing just 30 off the last five overs, which was down to 27 off 28 balls. However, India's death-bowling heroics (led by Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh) took them to a famous win, restricting Aiden Markam & Co to 169/8, as they ended their 11-year-long ICC title drought and won their second T20 WC title.

Recently, Indian captain Rohit -- who announced his T20I retirement post the T20 WC triumph -- revealed his thought process during the last overs' drama in Barbados. At an event in Dallas, Hitman admitted being 'blank''.

He said, "Yes, I was completely blank. I don't look too far ahead. It's very important for me to stay in the moment and focus on the job at hand. It was very important for all of us to stay calm and try to execute our plans."

It was very important for all of us to stay calm and try to execute our plans." 'I was completely...': Rohit Sharma recalls last overs' drama during India's T20 WC final win vs South Africa

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif slammed Babar Azam for his inability to change his T20I approach following the Men in Green's shambolic T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Under Babar, Pakistan failed to even reach the Super 8s in the 20-nation mega event, in West Indies and the USA. Babar-led Pakistan also lost to USA and many questions were raised on their captain's sluggish approach with the bat. Babar ended with 122 runs at a strike-rate of 101.66 in four matches. Thus, Latif lashed out at Babar for not being able to alter his T20I approach, saying 'if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can, why can't Babar?'

Latif told ProSports as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter, "If Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can change their approach in T20Is, then why can't Babar Azam? I would like to cite Rohit Sharma's example. You saw how he evolved his game in the 50-over format. He has made himself a role model. In this year's IPL, he had close to 140 strike rate. If he can change his game, everyone can. He did not do this overnight, he had to work on his game. India showed they can do this. This is not a problem of the player but a problem of the ones who make them play."

Rohit and Kohli impressed one and all with their attacking intent in the T20 WC. While Rohit had a successful run, with 257 runs (second-most overall), Kohli had an ordinary campaign before turning up with a fine 59-ball 76 in the final -- where India beat South Africa by 7 runs in Barbados on June 29. Post the mega event, both also retired from T20Is. Rohit signed off with 4,231 runs -- most-ever -- with Kohli following him at the second spot with 4,188 runs.

Latif further also gave Babar and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan an ultimatum by saying, "I would give Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan five matches to change their batting approach in T20Is and if they won't, then there should be no place in the team for them."

Latif further lamented that Babar should not have accepted taking over as the white-ball captain when he was offered the post once again early this year. Notably, Babar resigned as Pakistan's full-time captain post the ODI WC in India in 2023. However, he was reappointed as the limited-overs skipper before the just-concluded T20 WC.

The former Pakistani cricketer added, "Babar Azam shouldn't have been removed as captain after the ODI World Cup in India. Shaheen came in to replace him. But Babar's second tenure as captain was weak. Babar looked weak. This is not the way team selection should be done. Babar didn't fight ( in the T20 World Cup). His biggest mistake was accepting the captaincy again. If he continues as captain, it will be an even bigger mistake."

'One red to go': Outgoing coach Dravid gives final instruction to Kohli after India's T20 WC win - Watch

Rahul Dravid ended his stint as the senior Indian men's team coach following Rohit Sharma & Co.'s T20 World Cup 2024 win. On June 29, India beat South Africa in the T20 WC final, at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, to win their second T20 WC title, after 17 years, and also end their 11-year-long ICC title drought. Following this, Dravid's stint as the head coach also ended and the former Indian captain gave an emotional speech to the Indian players in the dressing room. In his speech, the 51-year-old thanked everyone for making him part of the T20 WC journey and revealed how captain Rohit convinced him to continue as coach post the ODI WC heartbreak last year.

In a video shared by the BCCI on social media platforms, Dravid said, “I am really short of words but all I want to say is thank you everyone for making me a part of what is an incredible memory. I think all you will remember these moments. We always say it's not about the runs, it's not about the wickets, you'll never remember your career. But you will remember is moments like these. I cannot be more prouder of you guys. To come back the way you did, the way you fought. The way we worked as a team. The resilience."

Dravid, known as The Wall added, "There have been a few disappointments over the years where we have come close but we have not been able to cross the line. But what this bunch of boys has done, everyone in the support staff has done. The whole country is proud of each and every one of you for what you have achieved. There are so many sacrifices each of you have made. Rahul Dravid ended his stint as the senior Indian men's team coach following Rohit Sharma & Co.'s T20 World Cup 2024 win. The resilience." Dravid, known as The Wall added, "There have been a few disappointments over the years where we have come close but we have not been able to cross the line. But what this bunch of boys has done, everyone in the support staff has done. The whole country is proud of each and every one of you for what you have achieved. There are so many sacrifices each of you have made.
The Indian Cricket Team entourage, including the players, their families, the support staff, and even the media personnel, are stranded in their hotel (Hilton) with limited staff as hurricane warnings in Barbados shut down the airport indefinitely. Per the latest reports, Hurricane Beryl (Category 4) will pass the Island on Sunday night (local time). A ‘very dangerous’ category hurricane has thrown the logistics into uncertainty, prompting the BCCI to make last-minute travel arrangements.

Indian Team stranded in Barbados after T20 WC win as hurricane warning shuts airport

Virat Kohli hugged it out with Indian captain Rohit Sharma after India's remarkable triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on Saturday (June 29). After Hardik Pandya defended 16 in the final over of the thrilling contest, versus South Africa, India ended their 11-year-long ICC title drought to win their second T20 WC. Post the narrow win, Kohli -- who also announced his retirement from T20Is -- was very emotional while entering the dressing room and hugged it out with Hitman.

Emotions were running high for Team India, who were on the back foot at one stage with SA needing just 26 off the last four overs in chase of 177. However, Jasprit Bumrah's masterclass led India's revival before Arshdeep Singh and Hardik kept their nerves to bail India out and take them to an epic win. After the contest, an emotional Kohli hugged Rohit as the video broke the internet.

India win last-over thriller

Set a target of 177 to win their first title ever, South Africa were in the driver’s seat until the last three overs when they needed 27 runs to win from 28 balls but choked yet again. However, a show of class with the ball and then in the field saw India pull off a great win. Suryakumar Yadav’s catch in the final over was decisive as India restricted South Africa to 169/8 in 20 overs and won the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007.

South Africa got off to a poor start in their innings as they lost Reeza Hendricks (4) and Aiden Markram (4) in the opening three overs. However, the Proteas then recovered well with Tristan Stubbs (31) and Klaasen stitching a partnership of 58 runs for the third wicket. Despite Stubbs’ wicket, Klaasen continued his onslaught with the bat to keep South Africa in the race. His innings consisted of 5 sixes and 2 fours as he scored 52 off just 27 deliveries.

However, Klaasen’s wicket on the first ball of the 17th over completely changed the course of the match with further wickets of Marco Jansen (2) and David Miller (21) leading to India’s win.

Team India end long barren run, win T20 World Cup after 17 years in thrilling win over South Africa

India became the T20 World Champion by beating South Africa in a thriller on Saturday (June 29). Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant catch to dismiss David Miller on the first ball of the last over with SA needing 16 runs played a pivotal role in it.

Hardik Pandya, bowling the last over, bowled a low and wide full toss outside off which Miller connected well. The ball travelled to long off region where Surya caught the ball just inside the boundary line but was disbalanced. SKY then popped the ball in the air and crossed the boundary only to comeback inside and catch it again. Have a look at the video below:

India became the T20 World Champion by beating South Africa in a thriller on Saturday (June 29). Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant catch to dismiss David Miller on the first ball of the last over with SA needing 16 runs played a pivotal role in it. Hardik Pandya, bowling the last over, bowled a low and wide full toss outside off which Miller connected well. The ball travelled to long off region where Surya caught the ball just inside the boundary line but was disbalanced. SKY then popped the ball in the air and crossed the boundary only to comeback inside and catch it again.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma announced that the T20 World Cup winning game against South Africa in Barbados (on Saturday, June 29) was his last in the shortest format as he also joined veteran batter Virat Kohli in announcing his retirement from T20Is. Shortly after leading India to its second T20 WC title by seven runs, Rohit said this was his last game for India in T20Is.

“This was my last [T20I] game as well,” Rohit said during the post-match presser.

“No better time to say goodbye to this format. I've loved every moment of this. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted, I wanted to win the cup.

“I wanted this badly. Very hard to put in words. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was very desperate for this title in my life. Happy that we eventually crossed the line,” he continued.

The batting great bows out as the top-scorer in this format, having smashed 4,231 runs in 159 matches, including hitting five T20I hundreds – the most by any batter. The win over the Proteas also saw Rohit becoming a two-time T20 world champion – first in 2007 as a player and now in 2024 as the captain.

The Indian opener had a sluggish start to the tournament but picked up the pace at the fag end of the tournament. Against the mighty Australians, Rohit’s 92 at the top was perhaps his best knock in T20 World Cups, with smashing Mitchell Starc for four sixes in an over during the Powerplay being the highlight.

However, a more crucial knock came a few days later against England in the second semis clash (in Guyana) where Rohit scored another fifty (57) on a tricky track, putting India ahead in the knockout tie.

In the grand finale against the Proteas, Rohit scored a couple of fours, before getting out to spinner Keshav Maharaj, caught at square leg.

Virat bows out of T20I cricket

“This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup. Wanted to...Yes I have, this was an open secret. Not something that I wasn't going to announce even if we had lost. Time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward and do wonders as we have seen them do in the IPL,” Virat said in the post-match interview.

“I have no doubts that they will keep the flag waving high and take this team further from here now. It's been a long wait for us just waiting to win an ICC tournament. It's not just me alone. You look at someone like Rohit, he's played 9 T20 World Cups and this is my sixth,” Virat added.

Having made his debut for the side in June 2010 against Zimbabwe in Harare, Virat quickly established himself as one of the first names in Team India. In the last 14 years, Virat helped India reach the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the semifinals of the 2016 and 2022 editions but team failed to win the trophy on those occasions. However, his dream became a reality as he added the T20 World Cup to his trophy cabinet having also won the U-19 and ODI World Cup.

In 125 matches for Team India, Virat scored 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69 while scoring 38 fifties and a solitary hundred in the 2022 Asia Cup against Afghanistan. He also bagged four wickets during this period. He retires with the distinction of highest T20I scorer of his generation.

Hardik Pandya has endured some tough times in the last six months while dealing with injuries, rumours, booing, setbacks and poor form, but as someone who always decides against staying down, he weathered those storms and stood tall in the end as a hero.

Pandya bowled the last over against South Africa with 16 needed off six balls. With David Miller at the crease, the Proteas were in the chase for their maiden T20 World Cup title; however, a stunning catch by Suryakumar Yadav changed the equation as Miller got out, and India won the game five balls later. Pandya became the hero and broke down while celebrating Team India's second T20 World Cup win.

Meanwhile, since returning from an ankle injury earlier in March, Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the new captain of Mumbai Indians, with countless MI fans tearing into him with regular boos throughout the tournament. That affected him so much that Pandya lost confidence heading into the showpiece event in the Americas, let alone thinking about performing with bat and ball.

However, the game changed during the 20-team tournament when Pandya, now in an India jersey, began from where he had left (before getting injured during the 50-over World Cup in October last year).
Despite leaking runs earlier in the finale, Pandya returned to pick the biggest wicket of Heinrich Klaasen (on 51) and pulled the game back for India. For keeping his composure in the final over and winning the game for India, Pandya deserves all the applause.

But, his reaction to winning the T20 WC, and what this meant to him, knowing how he controlled himself in the past six months, broke the internet.

“It means a lot. Very emotional, we'd been working very hard, and something was not clicking. But today we got what the whole nation wanted. More special for me; for how my last six months were, I haven't spoken a word, things have been unfair," Pandya said in a chat with Star Sports.

“I knew that if I kept working hard, I could shine and do what I could do. Getting an opportunity like this makes it more special. We always believed it was just about executing our plans and staying calm and letting the pressure come to them," Pandya said in a post-match presentation.

"I believe in grace. A lot was said by people who don't know even know me one per cent as a person. People have spoken, no issues, but I have always believed in life that you never respond with words, circumstances can respond,” Pandya responded.

Rahul Dravid has seen it all in cricket, perhaps more disappointments than moments of ecstasy, but that didn’t stop him from putting his hands on a world title as a coach, if not a player. That dream came true in Barbados on Saturday (June 29), a part of the Caribbean Islands, where under Dravid’s leadership in 2007, India got knocked out of the 50-over World Cup in group stages, and 17 years later, Dravid helped India lift their second T20 World Cup trophy in the same region.

Seen in a different super-celebratory avatar like never before, Dravid cried, along with Rohit, Kohli, Pandya and millions of fans worldwide, but put up the humblest face while addressing what it meant to win a world title. With the monkey off his back, Dravid talked about how cricket is a great leveller and how lucky he feels to be part of this winning unit.
