With Bollywood experiencing its own #MeToo movement, several filmmakers and actors have come out in support of victims, bashing prominent people in power. In one such incident, filmmaker Hansal Mehta quit Twitter yesterday after he was trolled for his comment on sexual harassment controversy against Vikas Bahl.

Vikas Bahl has been accused of sexual harassment by at least three women who claim that he abused his power, being a noted filmmaker. Co-owner of Phantom Films, Vikas misused his power and assaulted women subordinate to him.

Commenting on the issue, Hansal Mehta condemned Vikas’s behaviour and angrily tweeted: “Will anybody do anything about this bloody creep or will the industry protect him like it always does? Wish I could do more than just speak out. As a father of two girls, I fear them having to deal with such predators just because nobody took any action against Bahl — on the contrary, a major star has acted in his new film. Who is empowered here? The victim or the creep?”

Hansal was obviously referring to Hrithik Roshan who is currently working with Vikas on ‘Super 30’, their upcoming film together. This, however, did not go down well with Hrithik’s fans who trolled him for the remark.

Agitated with this, Hansal decided to leave Twitter for good. But before he did, he posted: “I’m done with Twitter. A platform that has ambiguous guidelines about hatred, negativity and abuse is no platform ... or debate or discussion — forget social change. Goodbye.

Wish I could do more than just speak out. As a father of two girls, I fear them having to deal with such predators just because nobody took any action against Bahl — on the contrary, a major star has acted in his new film. Who is empowered here? The victim or the creep?” Hansal was obviously referring to Hrithik Roshan who is currently working with Vikas on ‘Super 30’, their upcoming film together. Goodbye.

Omertà trailer: Rajkummar Rao's spine-chilling act piques our curiosity

Rajkummar Rao starrer Omertà was scheduled to release on April 20th but will now release on May 4th. The makers kept everyone guessing but finally disclosed the reason for the new release date on Thursday.

Director Hansal Mehta says, "We knew that it wouldn't be a cake walk with the Censor Board given that the film has a fair bit of violence and strong language. We didn't want cuts that would take away the essence of the film, so we had to wait. The Censor Board Chief and members of the revising committee understood how certain scenes could not be removed since they are essential for audiences to understand how a terrorist's mind works. Hence the wait and that's why a decision has been taken to release Omertà on May 4th."

Producer Nahid Khan added, "The team was waiting for CBFC’s clearance for the film. We’re happy to announce May 4th as the release date for Omertà. We know audiences are eagerly awaiting the film's release. It's just a small change of two weeks. We don't mind the delay as long as we have managed to keep the essence of the film intact."

Omertà is the horrifying true story of one of the most dreaded terrorists of our times. Shot in real locations across London and India, the film exposes the real and present danger of Pakistan sponsored terror. Woven around some of the most bloody terror attacks in recent history including the 9/11 world trade center attacks, the Mumbai Terror Strike and the brutal beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl, Omertà is a thriller that looks into the journey of an evil mind. The film premiered to excellent reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival 2017 followed by the Busan International Film Festival and a very successful screening as the closing film at the Mumbai Film Festival 2017.

Omar Sheikh was a mastermind behind several terrorist attacks all over the world. Mehta’s research unearthed links between Sheikh and dreaded terrorist Osama Bin Laden and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre. This footage includes clips of the Kandahar attack, media footage following the 9/11 attack and other clips from a whole range of sources. The sum spent on the footage is undisclosed, but the sources are credible. Hansal Mehta said, “When it comes to the film, everything has to be credible. To ensure we kept it as real as possible, we purchased actual footage. The film covers various crucial events from world history. I had to buy these videos different agencies. They were brought in bits and pieces through the years.” Omertà is the horrifying true story of one of the most dreaded terrorists of our times. Shot in real locations across London and India, Hansal Mehta's Omertà exposes the real and present danger of Pakistan sponsored terror. Woven around some of the most bloody terror attacks in recent history including the 9/11 world trade centre attacks, the Mumbai Terror Strike and the brutal beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl, Omertà is a thriller that looks into the journey of an evil mind. The film premiered to excellent reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival 2017 followed by the Busan International Film Festival and a very successful screening as the closing film at the Mumbai Film Festival 2017. Presented by Swiss Entertainment and Karma Media, Produced by Nahid Khan and directed by Hansal Mehta, Omertà starring Rajkummar Rao releases on April 20th, 2018.

Speaking about the film at a media event, director Hansal Mehta said, "Omertà takes a look at this complex paradox of a man called Omar Saeed Sheikh. It was a difficult subject to choose and a challenge to make. However, with an actor like Rajkummar, no challenge seems insurmountable and this was the ideal film to hurtle us out of our comfort zone to make something that is uncomfortable. But that is the burden of truth - it is uncomfortable and it must be faced. The film looks at what it means to be a fundamentalist and for someone to pick up a gun with the intent of killing in return for an afterlife in Paradise. I want to leave the viewer with a sense of awe, disgust, hate, surprise and let them examine the ramifications of these events on their lives today."

Playing the role of a character who is visibly negative (being one of the deadliest terrorists of our times), Rajkummar at the event said, “Omertà is among the most researched films that I have worked on till date. We actually visited some of the places frequented by Omar in London during his transformation from an LSE graduation student to becoming this deadly terrorist. I needed to feel and touch this man’s past - to ingest him. It was not an easy journey for me to take. With Omertà and Hansal Sir, we have a combination that will probably leave you stunned. There will be this moment of shock and silence as the end credits roll."

This director-actor duo stunned everyone with Shahid and now, they are all set to weave the same magic with Omertà. Hansal Mehta never ceases to surprise with his choice of stories and storytelling. The first poster of his upcoming thriller Omertà which was released on Monday gives an indication that the filmmaker along with his muse Rajkummar Rao is about to break new grounds again. Omertà is the terrifying true story of terrorist Omar Saeed Shaikh played by Rajkummar Rao. The poster has Rajkummar kneeling in prayer with his hands cupped and wearing a skull cap.
Seeing a hardened terrorist in prayer is hardly the image one would conjure up of a man who kills without a conscience. But knowing Mehta's storytelling, he is clearly making a strong point.
