"This is obviously a major priority and one that we're going to continue to work out until every American who wants to leave is able to do so," Finer said.&nbsp;

He also said the US officials were working hard to secure the release of hostages held captive by Hamas in the war.

Last week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that there were about 400 American citizens and their family members, adding up to around 1,000 people, who wanted to escape Israeli bombardment.&nbsp;

Calcalist said half of the expense would be in defence expenditures that sum up to approximately 1 billion shekels a day. Another 40-60 billion shekels would come from a loss of revenue, 17-20 billion for compensation for businesses and 10-20 billion shekels for rehabilitation.

Earlier, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that Israel's government was readying an economic aid package for those affected by Palestinian attacks that will be "bigger and broader" than during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday (Nov 2), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the state was committed to helping everyone impacted by the war.

"My directive is clear: Open the taps and channel funds to whoever needs them," he said without giving figures. 
 
"Just like we did during COVID. In the past decade, we have built here a very strong economy and even if the war exacts economic prices from us, as it is doing, we will pay them without hesitation."

Israel's war with Hamas will cost around $51 billion: Report

The Israeli Defence Forces on Sunday (Nov 5) said it has uncovered Hamas' hidden network of tunnels, rocket launchers and command centres adjoining hospitals in the northern part of war-torn Gaza.

"Hamas systematically exploits hospitals as part of its war machine," Israel's chief military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari claimed.

During a press briefing in Tel Aviv, Hagari presented videos, photographs and audio recordings which he claimed illustrated the Palestinian militant group's strategy of using hospitals as shelter and deterring civilians from leaving war zones.

He further said that during the war, around 800 rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza, which fell short and landed inside the enclave, claiming the lives of many Palestinians.&nbsp;

As per news agency Reuters, the Hamas group, which is backed by Iran, manufactures some of its rockets locally and also receives some from abroad.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hagari also levelled some accusations against two other hospitals in Gaza, the Qatari-funded Sheikh Hamad Hospital and another built by groups from Indonesia.

"This is a satellite image of the hospital complex taken after the massacre of the seventh of October. I am going to zoom in on the area here, ok? Across the street, only 75 metres - 80 metres to the hospital," Hagari said.

Late last month, the Israeli Army had levelled similar allegations against Hamas, saying the militant group is abusing hospitals in the Gaza Strip for military purposes.

"Hamas has turned hospitals into command and control centres and hideouts for Hamas terrorists and commanders," Hagari had told a news conference.

He specifically identified Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza, as one from which Hamas militants were operating.

"Hamas has turned hospitals into command and control centres and hideouts for Hamas terrorists and commanders. Additionally, I can confirm that according to the intelligence we have in our hands, there is fuel in hospitals in Gaza," Hagari said.

"Hamas terrorists operate inside and under Shifa Hospital and other hospitals in Gaza," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also took to his official X account and shared an illustration-based video showing how the militant group used Shifa Hospital as a shelter for its military operations from both above and below the ground.

During his very first visit to the Palestinian territory since the war broke out after the Hamas terror attack of October 7, Binken said that Gazans "must not be forcibly displaced".

"The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' commitment to the delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance and resumption of essential services in Gaza and made clear that Palestinians must not be forcibly displaced," said a summary of the meeting released by the US State Department.

Israel's retaliatory attacks have claimed the lives of around 9,800 people so far, out of which mostly are civilians, as per Hamas-run health ministry.

Abbas, during his meeting with Blinken, dubbed Israel's counter-offensive as a "genocide", news agency AFP reported citing official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

"I have no words to describe the genocide and destruction suffered by our Palestinian people in Gaza at the hands of Israel's war machine, with no regard for the principles of international law," Abbas was quoted as saying.&nbsp;

He further said that the Palestinian Authority could return to power in the Gaza Strip if a "comprehensive political solution" is found to end the decades-long conflict.

"We will fully assume our responsibilities within the framework of a comprehensive political solution that includes all of the West Bank, including east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip," Abbas told Blinken, the news agency Wafa reported.

The top US diplomat arrived in Tel Aviv on Sunday morning (Nov 5) and travelled in a high-security convoy to the Ramallah headquarters of the Palestinian Authority.

His unannounced visit came amid an upsurge of violence in the West Bank since the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas broke out.

Blinken and Abbas "discussed efforts to restore calm and stability in the West Bank, including the need to stop extremist violence against Palestinians and hold those accountable responsible", said the State Department.

"Secretary Blinken reiterated that the United States remains committed to advancing equal measures of dignity and security for Palestinians and Israelis alike," it said.

On his recent visit to the Middle East, Blinken has advocated "humanitarian pauses" in Gaza to safeguard civilians and smoothen aid deliveries.

Johnson, accompanied by former Australian PM Morrison, also paid a visit to Kibbutz Kfar Aza, the area which became the scene of devastation as Hamas militants launched their October 7 attack called Operation Al-Aqsa Floodgate.

The two leaders, along with Israeli soldiers and officials, also walked into some houses that were burned during the October 7 attacks.

Johnson, as reported by Reuters, said that he believed that the attacks, which killed over 1,400 Israelis, might suggest that the memory of the Holocaust is “starting to fade” but stressed that antisemitism "simply cannot be tolerated".

Later, talking to the press, Johnson said he believed that the attacks, which killed over 1,400 Israelis, might suggest that the memory of the Holocaust is "starting to fade". He also stressed that antisemitism "simply cannot be tolerated".

"There's been no single attack like this on the Jewish people since the Second World War, and that's a matter of record," said Johnson.

"I think that maybe because across the world, the memory and the lesson of that appalling crime, where six million died, the memory may be starting to fade. And it may be that what we're really seeing right now, in some of these marches and these demos, and the unthinking way people are talking about this issue, what we're starting to see perhaps, I hope this really isn't the case, we're seeing more and more evidence of antisemitism."

"In the end, that is something that simply cannot be tolerated, neither in my country nor anywhere else," he emphasised.

In the attack, as per Israeli estimates, around 1,400 people were killed, while more than 230 were taken hostage by the militants. These kidnapped individuals, which involve foreign nationals and around 30 children, remain with the Hamas, amid calls for their release. As of Sunday, more than 9,770 Palestinians have been killed in the war, said Gaza health officials.
