<p>"I can't believe it, I worked so hard to be back," said Fraser-Pryce.</p>

<p>"Zyon and my husband have been my strength when everybody else doubted me, they never did," she added.</p>

<p>After a lavish pre-race production for the benefit of the small crowd, the sprinters settled in their blocks and when the gun went off there was little doubt that Fraser-Pryce would be adding to her golden haul as she left Asher-Smith in her wake.</p>

<p>The silver was the first medal for a British woman in the 100m since Dorothy Hyman at the 1960 Olympics.</p>

<p>Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narinder Batra suggested the country boycott the Birmingham Games in protest at the decision and last month sought approval from sports minister Kiren Rijiju for the move.</p>

<p>"A sport has to earn the right to be in the Games," Martin told the paper.</p>

<p>"Shooting has never been a compulsory sport. We have to work through it but shooting will not be in the Games. We have no space anymore."</p>

<p>The IOA could not immediately be reached for comment.</p>

<p>The Telegraph reported that Birmingham's offer to hold two shooting events had been turned down by International Shooting Sport Federation, which wanted a full programme.</p>

<p>The closest facility to Birmingham deemed capable by organisers of hosting a full shooting programme was in Bisley, Surrey, about 209 km (130 miles) away.</p>

<p>Martin, the report added, would try and meet officials on the Indian side and also intended to speak to Britain's sports minister, Nigel Adams.</p>

<p>"I think the fact that I am competing in three different continents in three weeks is itself an incredible feat and I am thankful for all the support I have received through this period. I did have the belief that I could do well in these competitions and am pleased with my performances so far," Bajrang said.</p>

<p>"I am now looking forward to participating at Madison Square Garden and will continue to do my best to live up to the nation`s expectations in the tournaments to come," he said.</p>

<p>Bajrang, who is part of the JSW Sports Excellence Program, will now get on the road once again as he heads to New York for the Beat The Streets 'Grapple At the Garden'&nbsp;on May 6 at the historic Madison Square Garden arena.</p>

<p>As the year grew old, the ages of India's shooting champions got younger and if the medals won and world records owned by the incredibly talented teenagers are anything to go by, better days await the sport.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the podiums and records are a fair reflection of shooting's unprecedented upswing over the last 12 months, the soaring expectations from its young guns speak volumes about the talent at its disposal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Manu Bhaker won almost everywhere, the rare blip being her inexplicable meltdown at the Asian Games finals. The 16-year-old girl was favoured to beat women double her age and experience in the showpiece and when the script did not unfold on expected lines, she exited the 25m range teary-eyed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Heightened expectations from a teenager competing in a top-flight senior event is rare, but the breed that Bhaker belongs to is also rare.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Teen pistol sensation Saurabh Chaudhary, who can now do without an introduction, is a shooter of Bhaker's ilk.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Out of nowhere, Esha Singh, 13, announced her arrival in spectacular fashion, nonchalantly trouncing the established names, Bhaker included, as well as Heena Sidhu on her way to winning three gold medals at the Nationals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the same tournament, Mehuli Ghosh's partner in winning the junior mixed team and youth mixed team air rifle events was a 10-year old Abhinav Shaw.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In shooting we are pretty developed. There were 27 medals in the World Championship in which we did fantastically well. We just need to keep our heads focused and continue that process," Bindra said recently.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We seem to be quite fortunate because we have a string of young shooting athletes, coming through day in and day out, and I think that's a very positive sign for the long-term development of shooting," the 36-year-old added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Saying that the sport enjoyed a phenomenal year, simply riding on the teenagers, would be appropriate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On her part, Bhaker said, "We saw the youth power this year, it feels really good that teenagers are doing so well and achieving their goals. We have set our goals and are working on that only. It is very surprising that suddenly all of us are doing so well."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bhaker and Chaudhary became household names, winning five and six international gold medals in the year respectively, including the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games, ISSF World Cup (both junior and senior) and Asian Championship Gold medals between them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 23-year-old Angad Veer Singh Bajwa did what no other skeet shooter had done before at the Asian Shotgun Championships.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He shot a perfect 60 out of 60 in the final to own the world record, beating the score of 59 achieved multiple times by American two-time Olympic champion, world champion and skeet legend, Vincent Hancock.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Angad had been in and out of the Indian team for more than two years, has come up the junior ranks and has done what no other Indian skeet shooter has ever done - winning an Asian Championship gold and owning the skeet world record.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Given that his teammates Sheeraz Shaikh and Mairaj Khan are also shooting good scores consistently, Angad's achievement bodes well for the future.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Similarly, in rifle, teenagers Mehuli Ghosh and Elavenil Valarivan showed their class by winning a host of medals including gold in the Junior and Senior World Cups and Junior World Championships as well as in the Youth Olympic Games.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I am a little bit emotional. There is no (48kg) weight category in the Olympic Games. Because of your love and support, I feel I will be able to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Four years ago, I was not able to qualify for Rio. I am still suffering from that," she said.</p>

<p>"Thank you for your love and support. I don't have anything to give except for a gold in the country. I know it will be a bit difficult for me to win a gold in Tokyo as I will have to fight in 51kg."</p>

<p>Mary Kom claimed a bronze at the 2012 London Games.</p>

<p>Tulsi Gabbard, who is the current co-chair of the House Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans is also one the co-sponsors of the resolution, which has been sent to the Committee on Financial Services and Committee on House Administration for necessary action.</p>

<p>The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian honour given by the US Congress and very few foreigners have been recipients of this award. Prominent among those include Mother Teresa (1997), Nelson Mandela (1998), Pope John Paul II (2000), the Dalai Lama (2006), Aung San Suu Kyi (2008), Muhammad Yunus (2010) and Shimon Peres (2014).</p>

Commonwealth Games: Rahul Ragala claims India's fourth gold medal

<p>World champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu (48kg) went on a record-smashing spree, claiming three of them in a power-packed performance, to secure India's first gold medal at the 21st Commonwealth Games here today.</p>

<p>In a remarkable performance, Chanu smashed the Commonwealth and the Games record in a snatch, pulling off clean lifts in all her three attempts (80kg, 84kg and 86kg).</p>

<p>She then lifted more than double her body weight (103kg, 107kg and 110kg) in three successful attempts to claim the clean and jerk as well as the overall Games record.</p>

<p>The showing helped her better the silver she had won in the 2014 Glasgow CWG.</p>

<p>The Indian ended with a score of 196kg (86kg+110kg), earning a massive applause from the fans at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.</p>

<p>The 23-year-old's previous best was a total lift of 194kg (snatch 85kg and 109kg in clean and jerk) achieved in the World Championships a few months ago.</p>

<p>Her nearest but still a very distant rival, Amanda Braddock of Canada failed to complete a single lift in the clean and jerk after managing a best of 76kg in the snatch.</p>

<p>Earlier, P Gururaja claimed a silver medal in the men's 56kg event to open India's medal account in the quadrennial extravaganza.</p>

Wushu World Championship: Pooja Kadian wins first-ever gold for India

<p>She&rsquo;s all but 14 years old, but she&rsquo;s already the &ldquo;world&rsquo;s fastest flyer.&rdquo; Singaporean Kyra Poh wowed crowds at the 2017 Windoor Wind Games in Spain recently, bagging two gold medals in the freestyle indoor skydiving competition.</p>

<p>During the competition, each contestant was required to perform two routines, both with and without music. The contestants were judged on the basis of the difficulty and variety of their routines, along with rhythm, choreography and artistic merit.</p>

<p>Kyra, when doing her routines, outshined every other contestant with a difficulty rating of 8.8 (the highest among her competitors). She finished first with a total of 361.217 points ahead of Czech Republic&#39;s Jakub Harrer (349.033) and Poland&#39;s Maja Kyczynska (340.751).</p>

<p>Amongst all this, she also won the solo speed competition, where contestants had to perform random and compulsory routines in the fastest time possible.</p>

<p>Around 200 contestants in all participated in the Wind Games, which were held in Catalonia, Spain. Kyra was the smallest of them all, but she doesn&rsquo;t believe that this offered her any advantage.</p>
