Democratic congressman Lloyd Doggett reportedly told CNN a summary report would be sent to the full House of Representatives with analysis from the US Congress Joint Committee on Taxation, along with the raw returns.&nbsp;

Trump denied the report in 2020, calling it "fake news".

The returns released by the US Congress, however, could show how much he has given to charity if he has foreign business concerns or other conflicts of interest, and how his businesses were affected by his presidency and the pandemic.

What are the Republicans saying?

The Ways and Means Committee Republicans had warned ahead of Tuesday's vote that releasing the returns could set a precedent eroding privacy for Americans and enabling unwarranted investigations of political opponents.&nbsp;

"Democrats will open the door for partisans in Congress to have nearly unlimited power to target political enemies by obtaining and making public their private tax returns," the panel's top Republican Kevin Brady said in a statement.

So far, 202 people have more than 45 of the NFTs in their digital wallet, according to Dune data cited by CNET.

Where will money from Trump's NFT sale go?

NFT INT, the company behind the collection, claims on its website that the money raised won't be used in Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. It further adds that NFT INT is not owned by Donald Trump or any of his organisations. Trump has only licensed his name and image for the project.

So far, 202 people have more than 45 of the NFTs in their digital wallet, according to Dune data cited by CNET. Where will money from Trump's NFT sale go? The decision to penalise Trump was taken on the recommendations of a special committee—the subcommittee examining referrals—after renewed evidence pointed out Trump’s attempts to impede the certification of President Joe Biden on January 6, 2021.

The nine-member committee is expected to vote and approve the recommendations and submit it to the Department of Justice, which is already probing Trump's role in the unrest.

The justice department, however, is not obligated to consider referrals from any congressional panel.

The committee will hold its final meeting on Monday when any recommendations of pressing the charges&nbsp;would be unveiled.

On Friday, Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, issued a statement reacting&nbsp;to the reports, saying, "The January 6th un-Select Committee held show trials by Never Trump partisans who are a stain on this country's history."

The chief of the select committee, Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, said the full report will be made public on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, California congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, another member of the panel, told CNN on Friday that the lawmakers have "been very careful in crafting these [charging] recommendations and tethering them to the facts that we've uncovered".

The panel believes that Trump incited Capitol riot in a last-ditch bid to remain in power.

It argues that Trump spread false claims about the 2020 presidential election being rigged, before pressuring state officials, the justice department and his own vice-president to help subvert his defeat.

Weiss said,&nbsp;"Twitter staff assigned to evaluate tweets quickly concluded that Trump had *not* violated Twitter’s policies."

"I think we’d have a hard time saying this is incitement," a staffer said, according to Weiss. "It's pretty clear he's saying the ‘American Patriots’ are the ones who voted for him and not the terrorists (we can call them that, right?) from Wednesday."

"Don’t see the incitement angle here," another staffer agreed, per Weiss.

Donald Trump's last tweet did not violate Twitter policies too

Trump's last tweet before being banned from the platform stated that he will not attend then-president-elect Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony. According to Twitter Files 5.0, the platform's safety team concluded at the time: "It's a clear no vio(lation). It's just to say he's not attending the inauguration."

"Less than 90 minutes after Twitter employees had determined that Trump’s tweets were not in violation of Twitter policy, Vijaya Gadde—Twitter’s Head of Legal, Policy, and Trust—asked whether it could, in fact, be ‘coded incitement to further violence,’" Weiss reported in Twitter Files 5.0.

"A few minutes later, Twitter employees on the ‘scaled enforcement team’ suggest that Trump’s tweet may have violated Twitter’s Glorification of Violence policy—if you interpreted the phrase ‘American Patriots’ to refer to the rioters."

"Things escalate from there," Weiss continued. "Members of that team came to ‘view him as the leader of a terrorist group responsible for violence/deaths comparable to Christchurch shooter or Hitler and on that basis and on the totality of his Tweets, he should be de-platformed.’

Weiss then wrote about&nbsp;the 30-minute all-staff meeting led by Dorsey and Gadde, who were confronted by staffers about why Trump had not been banned.

"One hour later, Twitter announces Trump’s permanent suspension ‘due to the risk of further incitement of violence.’ Many at Twitter were ecstatic," Weiss wrote, sharing communications from staffers celebrating the Trump ban.

The Trump ban then inspired a crackdown by the platform on "medical misinformation," with Weiss reporting that the next day a renewed push by the tech giant, according to internal communications.

She quoted one staffer who said, "For the longest time, Twitter’s stance was that we aren’t the arbiter of truth, which I respected but never gave me a warm fuzzy feeling."

"But Twitter’s COO Parag Agrawal—who would later succeed Dorsey as CEO—told Head of Security Mudge Zatko: ‘I think a few of us should brainstorm the ripple effects’ of Trump's ban.' Agrawal added: ‘centralized content moderation IMO has reached a breaking point now,’" Weiss reported.&nbsp;

Weiss concluded her thread, "Ultimately, the concerns about Twitter’s efforts to censor news about Hunter Biden’s laptop, blacklist disfavored views, and ban a president aren’t about the past choices of executives in a social media company. They’re about the power of a handful of people at a private company to influence the public discourse and democracy."

The Twitter Files was first unveiled on December&nbsp;2 when journalist Matt Taibbi revealed the&nbsp;internal efforts to suppress the New York Post's Hunter Biden story in 2020.

Explaining the extremely partisan nature of the Twitter staff, he stated that in 2018, 2020, and 2022, 96%, 98%, &amp; 99% of political donations made by Twitter staff went to Democrats. He also shares one of the tweets of Yoel Roth, one of the then executives of Twitter, claiming that there are “ACTUAL NAZIS IN THE WHITE HOUSE.”&nbsp;

Changing policies of Twitter

Shellenberger, in his report, states that an email sent by Dorsey to the employees on January 7 saying that there is a need to remain consistent with the policies, which includes users' right to return to Twitter after they are suspended temporarily.&nbsp;

“After, Roth reassures an employee that "people who care about this... aren't happy with where we are (sic),” he further writes. Shellenberger then reveals that Roth sent messages to his colleagues around 11:30 am to share a piece of news, filled with excitement.&nbsp;

In his report, he quotes Roth as saying, “GUESS WHAT. Jack just approved repeat offender for civic integrity. "The new approach would create a system where five violations ("strikes") would result in permanent suspension," Shellenberger writes.&nbsp;

Shellenberger states that messages exchanged between Roth and his colleague make&nbsp;it clear how Dorsey was forced to place greater restrictions on the speech which is allowed by Twitter during elections.

He explains how they then discuss if Trump can be banned finally, and that “does the incitement to violence aspect change that calculus?” to which “Roth says it doesn't. "Trump continues to just have his one strike" (remaining).”&nbsp;

He emphasises the query regarding "incitement to violence", further highlighting how Twitter had stated that the reason for permanently banning Trump was the "risk of further incitement of violence".&nbsp;

Setting the narrative

Shellenberger says that no concerns were expressed within Twitter over Trump's banning, except by one junior-level employee who had sent a message saying, "this might be an unpopular opinion but one off ad hoc decisions like this that don't appear rooted in policy are imho (in my honest opinion) a slippery slope...This now appears to be a fiat by an online platform CEO with a global presence that can gatekeep speech for the entire world".&nbsp;

Roth after realising that the same hashtag is being used by Democrats to call out Donald Trump and say that the 2020 US Presidential election was held fairly, suggested to “de-amplify accounts with #stopthesteal in the name/profile since those are not affiliated with counterspeech”.&nbsp;

Considering that too many Twitter accounts belonging to Republicans and conservatives were sharing screenshots of tweets from the suspended account of Donald Trump, the employees at Twitter suggested that such handles should be placed under a 12-hour long review.

However, they faced the challenge of distinguishing Democrats from Republicans, as the former party members were also posting tweets to mock Trump.&nbsp;

Former US president Donald Trump's family business, Trump Organization was found guilty of tax fraud by a New York jury on Tuesday. This has dealt a blow to Trump's possible ambition to eye White House again in 2024 polls.

The organisation was found guilty on all nine counts, prosecutors said in a statement. This has marked the first time it had ever been convicted.

"This was a case about greed and cheating. In Manhattan, no corporation is above the law," said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

This will now cause the company to pay up a fine of around USD 1.5 million, a small sum considering Trump's vast wealth. However the ruling is likely to inflict damage to his reputation.

The Trump Organization and separate Trump entity the Trump Payroll Corp were convicted of running a 13-year-scheme to defraud and evade taxes by falsifying business records. The conviction also came for helping executives dodge taxes on extravagant perks such as Manhattan apartments and luxury cars.

Alan Futerfas, a lawyer for the&nbsp;Trump&nbsp;Organization, told reporters the company would appeal. Futerfas said the law allowing the company to be found guilty if executives took criminal acts “in behalf of” the company was vague.

“It was central to the case,” Futerfas said.

Jurors agreed with prosecutors that the Trump Organization -- currently run by Trump's two adult sons, Donald Jr and Eric Trump -- hid compensation it paid to top executives between 2005 and 2021.

Longtime CFO Allen Weisselberg, had already pleaded guilty to 15 counts of tax fraud, and testified against his former company as part of a plea bargain.

A close friend of the Trump family, the 75-year-old Weisselberg admitted he schemed with the company to receive undeclared benefits such as a rent-free apartment in a posh Manhattan neighborhood, luxury cars for him and his wife and private school tuition for his grandchildren.

Trump, who had slammed the charges as a "witch hunt" by rivals," was himself not named in the case.

"We have made decisions on criminal referrals," Bennie Thompson, Chairman of the House Committee told US media. He did not name anyone who would be subject to the criminal referral.

Among the potential charges believed to be under consideration are obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, perjury and witness tampering.&nbsp;

Trump has announced plans last month to run for president again in 2024. The House committee had subpoenaed Trump but he declined to testify.

The panel, which has interviewed dozens of witnesses and held several public hearings, is expected to release its report in the next few weeks.

Hundreds of people have been arrested for involvement in the assault on the Capitol, and two members of a far-right militia, the Oath Keepers, were convicted of sedition last week in the most high-profile case yet stemming from the attack.

Donald Trump is trailing behind Ron DeSantis by 20 points in a hypothetical Republican presidential primary for the 2024 elections, opinion polls showed.

The poll by Deseret News-Hinckley Institute of Politics in the Republican stronghold Utah voters showed Florida Governor DeSantis taking a decisive lead in the race at 24.2 per cent followed by Liz Cheney with 16.4 per cent, and Trump placed third with 14.6 per cent, the Hill reported.

However, 20.7 per cent of Utah voters said they haven’t decided which candidate they would support.

The latest polls indicate that Trump’s popularity may be slipping among ardent Republican supporters.

DeSantis, who was comfortably re-elected last month, has yet to declare if he intends to run for the 2024 elections, but his popularity seems to be surging.

The Florida governor is viewed as the main rival of the former president as he shares most of Trump's political positions.

The opinion poll conducted by the Desert News-Hinckley Institute of Politics between November 18 and November 23 mirrors several other surveys which peg DeSantis firmly ahead of Trump.

According to the national survey released by Marquette Law School, Trump's unfavourable rating has increased to 67 per cent among registered voters, with one-third of Republicans and GOP-leaning voters now viewing him negatively.

Trump’s dwindling popularity is co-terminus with the disappointing midterm election results, which saw several candidates backed by the former president losing.

A poll released by WPA Intelligence last week, which polled 1,160 registered voters in America, confirmed as much when it found that a full 64 per cent of all voters blame the ex-president for the poor showing by GOP candidates in the midterms.
