<h2><strong>Entry in politics</strong></h2>

<p>DeSantis worked briefly as an assistant US attorney in Florida before a successful bid for a US&nbsp;congressional seat in 2012. He served in Congress before running for governor in 2018.</p>

<p>Speaking at a campaign event on Friday ahead of the first-in-the-nation primary election in the US state of New Hampshire, Trump seemingly confused Haley with Pelosi and blamed the former South Carolina governor for not protecting the Capitol during the attack on January 6.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Nikki Haley is in charge of security. We offered her 10,000 people – soldiers, National Guard, whatever they want – they turned it down. They don’t want to talk about that,” the Republican frontrunner told his supporters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He mentioned Haley again and added, “They destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 77-year-old Republican frontrunner has repeatedly accused Pelosi of turning down security he says his administration offered. However, a special House committee which was tasked with investigating the attack found no evidence to support that claim.</p>

<p>In response to Trump’s gaffe, Haley, on Saturday said, “They’re saying he got confused, that he was talking about something else, he’s talking about Nancy Pelosi.” She added, “He mentioned me multiple times in that scenario.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The concern I have is — I’m not saying anything derogatory — but when you’re dealing with the pressures of the presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do this,” said the former United Nations Ambassador.&nbsp;</p>
