Donna Brazile, a Harris ally, Al Gore 2000 presidential campaign manager, and a political commentator, said, “Since Donald Trump has rewritten the rules—the norms—I don’t believe Kamala Harris or anyone should try to go with precedent, ever." 
She added, "There are no rule books.”
“The rules potentially don’t apply this time, and she still absolutely could have a mulligan because of the unique circumstances of this race and the candidate switch," Molly Murphy, a pollster who worked on both the Biden and Harris campaigns said. “But I don’t think it will be a given.”
The Democratic Party has been shaping an argument, saying that her loss to Trump was not as comprehensive as has been popularly portrayed.

'Country today faces grave challenge'
"Our country today faces a grave challenge. The incoming administration in the United States is pursuing a policy of aggressive economic nationalism, including a threat of 25 per cent tariffs," the Deputy PM said. 
She stressed, "We need to take that threat extremely seriously. That means keeping our fiscal powder dry today, so we have the reserves we may need for a coming tariff war."
Freeland added, "That means pushing back against 'America First' economic nationalism" with a determined effort to fight for capital and investment and the jobs they bring.

Freeland was first elected to parliament in 2013, however, she joined Trudeau's cabinet two years later when the Liberals swept to power. 
The Canadian deputy PM announced her resignation just hours before she was due to deliver a fiscal and economic update in parliament, Bloomberg reported. 
It still remains unclear whether that document will be released or not.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed holding a phone call with US President-elect Donald Trump, during which he reaffirmed his country’s ‘determination’ to continue acting against Iran and its armed proxies, CNN reported.
Netanyahu said in the video message that he had a “very friendly, very warm, and very important conversation” on Saturday (local time) and told about the need for Israel to “complete its victory.”
The leaders also spoke of the need to bring home the remaining hostages in Gaza.
Hamas carried out a massive terror attack on Israel on October 7 killing over 1200 people and holding over 250 as hostages. Around 100 of them are still believed to be in captivity in Gaza.
Israel launched a strong counter-offensive targeting Hamas units in Gaza in an operation that has killed over 45,000 Palestinians.

“I discussed all of this again last night with my friend, US President-elect Donald Trump,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“We are committed to preventing Hezbollah from rearming,” he said. “This is an ongoing test for Israel, we must meet it – and we will meet it. The Canadian deputy PM announced her resignation just hours before she was due to deliver a fiscal and economic update in parliament, Bloomberg reported.&nbsp;

It still remains unclear whether that document will be released or not. &nbsp;

ABC News reached a legal settlement with United States President-elect Donald Trump in a defamation lawsuit and agreed to pay $15 million as part of it which also ended the dispute around an interview in which anchor George Stephanopoulos was accused of defaming Trump.
The money paid out by ABC News will be transferred to a "Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff, as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past", as per the settlement terms released on Saturday (Dec 14).
Another $1 million will be paid out by the defendants - identified as ABC, ABC News and Stephanopoulos - to the president-elect's counsel.

The organisation reported a net loss of $9.5 billion at the end of its fiscal year on September 30. This fiscal year's loss was $3 billion more than the last one.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping is not planning to accept US President-elect Donald Trump’s invitation to his January 20 inauguration ceremony. Wall Street Journal reported Thursday (Dec 12) citing ‘people close to Beijing’s thinking’ that China is likely to send a senior official to the ceremony. Meanwhile, news agency AP quoted experts as saying that Jinping might see Trump’s invitation to the event as “too risky” to accept.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump’s incoming Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the GOP leader had extended invitation to the Chinese leader. The WSJ quoted a person close to the Trump Team as saying that Trump deeply values his personal relationship with Xi even as he wanted a competition with China.

E-commerce giant Amazon is donating $1 million to United States President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund. The company will also air the event on Prime Video, an Amazon spokesperson said on Thursday (Dec 12). The Wall Street Journal reported that Prime Video will be an in-kind donation worth another $1 million.&nbsp;

Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos is expected to meet the Republican leader next week, Trump said in his interview with CNBC on Thursday (Dec 12).&nbsp;

Trump has criticised the Washington Post (Owned by Bezos) for its coverage during his first term in the White House.

Amazon's reported donation comes just after Mark Zuckerberg's Meta announced a $1 million donation to Trump's inaugural fund for the inauguration on&nbsp;January 20.&nbsp;

Zuckerberg's donation was made after Trump openly threatened repercussions for any perceived meddling by technology leaders in his election campaigns. The Republican had threatened Zuckerberg that he would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he tried to interfere in the 2024 US presidential election.&nbsp;

But in recent years, the Meta CEO has worked to bridge the gaps between him and Republicans as he hosted dinners and meetings with important personalities. This also includes a meeting with the incoming president at his Mar-a-Lago residence. At one such event, Zuckerberg gifted Trump a pair of Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses.&nbsp;
