Donald Trump is on the path to becoming the president of the United States (US) once again. As per projections by the news agency Associated Press on Wednesday (Nov 6), Trump- the Republican presidential candidate- has secured more than 50 per cent of the votes while Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has secured 47.4 per cent of votes. Projections showed that Trump emerged victorious in the battleground state of North Carolina, with his supporters pumping fists in the air and others jumping when the screen showed that Trump won the state's 16 electoral votes. A Republican bent in Georgia Trump won a second battleground state-Georgia. Joe Biden narrowly carried Georgia in 2020, but Republicans have won every other Georgia presidential vote since 1996. Trump tried to overturn his 2020 loss in Georgia, setting off a political and legal struggle that led to his indictment in the state. Most supporters of Donald Trump want him to run again if he loses the current presidential election, according to a poll cited by Newsweek. The survey, conducted by the independent polling firm Redfield & Wilton Strategies, shows that 51 per cent of Trump voters believe he should pursue the presidency again in 2028 if he loses to Kamala Harris, while 38 per cent think he should not.

Among the general voter population, 31 per cent think Trump should run again if he loses, while 55 per cent believe he should not. Support among Harris voters is notably low, with only 13 per cent in favour of a 2028 run by Trump, 82 per cent opposed, and 5 per cent undecided. No, I don’t… I think that that will be it. I don’t see that at all. I think that hopefully, we’re gonna be successful.” Can Trump legally run in 2028? Legally, yes. The US Constitution's 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two terms, but these terms do not have to be consecutive. Trump, who served from 2017 to 2021, could make a future attempt, following in the footsteps of Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Trump faces ongoing legal challenges: he was convicted on 34 criminal counts in New York, with sentencing expected soon, and he is dealing with additional criminal cases linked to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump has pleaded not guilty in all the cases. Although the Constitution does not explicitly ban convicted individuals from the presidency, these legal battles and the potential for jail time if he loses this election might cause complications. A Georgia poll worker has been arrested for allegedly fabricating a bomb threat letter, aiming to implicate a voter he had previously argued with. Nicholas Wimbish, aged 25, from Milledgeville, is accused of creating a fake threat to make it appear as though the voter he had an altercation with, was responsible.

According to a report by The Mirror US, Wimbish’s arrest occurred on November 4, the eve of the election, with federal authorities involved in the investigation. The Justice Department confirmed that Wimbish, who was working at the Jones County Election Office in Gray last month, had a verbal dispute with a voter.

A federal judge said on Sunday (Nov 3) that the US state of Iowa can continue challenging hundreds of ballots from potential noncitizens despite criticism against it as it could threaten the voting rights of recently neutralised citizens of the country.&nbsp;

The lawsuit also talked about around four recent US citizens who had been placed on a list of questionable registrations by local elections officials.&nbsp;

Federal judge rules Iowa can continue challenging validity of hundreds of ballots from potential noncitizens

Election Night in the US begins as soon as polls close and the sun sets on November 5 in different time zones on the east and west coasts of America.

Will it be an orderly election that would declare either Democrat Kamala Harris or Republican Donald Trump as the winner?

Or will there be chaos?

Here is how the election night will unfold, based on past experience.

Much of the US election results are, in a manner of speaking, 'taken over' by the media outlets, particularly TV channels like CNN, Fox News, NBC News, ABC News and CBS News, who keep projecting and 'calling the election' for different states based on their mathematical calculations.

The only news organisation that's officially allowed to declare elections is the Associated Press News agency.

The first states to close polling from 7 pm Eastern Time will start these trends. This will continue up to 1 am, November 6, when polls close last in Hawaii and Alaska.

As soon as the election is over, the exit polls will start trickling in, besides the state-level projections.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/business-economy/china-braces-for-critical-week-amid-us-election-and-anticipated-stimulus-plans-773079">Also read: China braces for critical week amid US election and anticipated stimulus plans</a>

Exit polls, which will also include public opinion on various issues, could be a strong indicator of how people have voted.

What one should watch out for are the projections for the battleground states. This time, there are seven:&nbsp;Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

<h2>Remember the magic number 270</h2>

Remember that the popular vote does not decide American presidential elections.

The picture will become clearer only when we know how many electoral votes each candidate got.

Among swing states, the polls will close first in Georgia.

Whatever projections come out of Georgia&nbsp;could set the tone for the rest of the night. Unless there are legal challenges, Georgia could be the first state to declare who won its 16 electoral college votes, out of the total &nbsp;538 for the whole nation.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/donald-trump-vows-hell-revive-alien-enemies-act-during-final-campaign-rally-heres-what-it-is-773089">Also read: Donald Trump vows he'll revive Alien Enemies Act during final campaign rally. Here's what it is</a>

That could be delayed, if there are questions and lawsuits like last time.

Nationally, the Electoral College vote majority mark is 270, and whoever gets that number wins the election, irrespective of the popular vote.

While swing states are keenly watched, early results could come from small, non-battleground states.&nbsp;

Along with the presidential elections, several local polls are being held on November 5, whose results will trickle in throughout the election night and subsequent hours.

In cases where there are disputes, these results- federal or local -&nbsp;could drag on for days or months.

<h2>Two scenarios: Order vs Chaos</h2>

In case of an orderly election, the picture will be clear as soon as most of the swing state electoral college vote results are in, as long as the states considered non-battlegrounds suddenly spring surprises.

Already, there's such a surprise happening with Iowa, where according to polls, Trump - earlier thought to be winning- might face a challenge.

Where are the candidates going to be?

Trump will be watching the results and addressing supporters from a convention centre in Palm Beach, Florida.

Harris will be with her supporters at Howard University, a traditionally Black educational institution where she had studied.

<h2>Concede or not concede, that's the question</h2>

If the results are clear-cut, and there's no room for suspense or suspicion, the losing candidate traditionally concedes defeat on election night itself.

Once the concession speech/message is delivered by the losing candidate, the winner addresses his or her supporters with a victory speech.

But this election is far from 'traditional'.

Already there are court cases about dropped ballots, eligibility and citizenship questions, and vote suppression allegations.

The rivals, particularly Republicans, are fighting for each vote.

So it would be better to concentrate on what happens if the elections are not orderly.

In other words, what if one candidate does not concede?

At several counting centres, the Republicans - or Democrats, though that seems highly unlikely - could file numerous lawsuits challenging the outcome and seeking recounts.

The recounts, if ordered by the courts, can take hours or even days, as it is a laborious yet thorough process.&nbsp;

It is highly unlikely that Kamala Harris would not concede if the verdict is clearly favouring Trump.

But if Trump appears to lose, it could be a different scenario altogether, if we go by last time.

There is, however, a possible change of heart in Trump if he loses as per some experts, because of two key reasons.

One is that he is already facing court cases related to the 2021 Capitol riots, which resulted from his refusal to accept the results.

A repeat of those 'crimes' could only see him going in and out of court for the rest of his life.

Two, there's frankly not much left for him to fight for, as this is possibly his last shot at the White House given his advanced age.

<h2>What if states are not called by Election Night?</h2>

Things could get dragged on for days, or weeks, pending legal battles.

In 2020, several states were not called due to recounting or lawsuits.&nbsp;

This is quite possible as the opinion polls are saying that it is a tight race.&nbsp;

Such a long night happened in 2000 when votes were recounted in many parts after the contest between incumbent Republican President George W Bush and his Democratic challenger Al Gore. That election was ultimately settled by the US Supreme Court, in favour of Bush.

In the 2020 election, battleground states of Pennsylvania and Nevada were called four days after election day, while it took more than a week for Arizona.

A delay in results, along with possible instigations by Trump and his surrogates, could rile up his supporters. That could lead to protests, counterprotests, violence and arrests.

Will Americans keep calm this election season?

Only hours left to know.

US election 2024: Know all about Trump Organisation

Barack Obama won the 2012 election, becoming the last Democrat president to serve two consecutive terms. However, his second term was marked by the rise of Donald Trump, who went on to become the Republican president, ousting the Democrats from power after eight years of Obama.

Many Americans loved the first African American president, with some even urging him to run again for a third term in 2016. But US presidents cannot have more than two terms, and Obama went on to campaign for the subsequent Democratic candidates, including Joe Biden, who was his vice president.

In 2012, Obama was seeking a second term in the wake of the global financial crisis that started in late 2007 with the collapse of some major American banks, insurance firms and other financial institutions.

As the Great Reccession continued for the common people, the rich continued to become richer, which led to the Occupy Wall Street movement just a few months before the election.

Obama's Republcan rival was Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor.

The key issues in the 2012 election cycle&nbsp;were the recovery of the American economy, the landmark yet contentious healthcare reforms of Obama, and his foreign policy.&nbsp;

Obama had passed the massive medical care reform called the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as Obamacare. He also spent much of his first term stabilising the economy after the financial crisis of 2007-08 left behind by his Republican predecessor George W Bush.

Unemployment, which was above 8 per cent as of 2012 remained a key issue during the 2012 election, as the working class was still feeling the pinch from the financial crisis.

This made many question the economic policies of Obama in his first term.

Romney seized on this opportunity to attack Obama.

Hightlighting his private sector experience - he was the co-founder of investment firm Bain Capital - Ronmey argued that he can fix the economy.

With the campaign slogan 'Believe in America,'&nbsp;Romney focused on claiming that debt increased and job growth was slow during Obama's first term.

Obama's campaign, with the slogan 'Forward', mobilised supporters on the progress made during his presidency on women's rights, immigration reform and healthcare. He even took a pro-LGBTQ stance closer to election date.&nbsp;

But on the healthcare front, Obama was often cornered by Romney, who advocated repeal of the Affordable Care Act.&nbsp;

They sparred on these issues at debates, with Obama appearing to be on the backfoot in the first one. But he recovered and improved his performance in later debates.

Well into the last days of campaign, Obama appeared to be on a weak position but his emotional and rousing speeches and Demcratic party's massive ground-level surge campaign managed to convince most voters to give him four more years.&nbsp;

The 2012 election also cemented the role of technology, which was already used in the previous one. Data analytics was used as effectively by Obama campaign as grassroot voter mobilisation.

Romeny somehow did not have the same arsenal when it came to using technology, particularly social media outreach to young voters.

There was also an increase in early voting, which is believed to have helped Obama.

The election, held on 6 November 2012, saw better participation from minorities and youngsters, which also was to Obama's advantage.

Eventually, Obama won re-election by getting 332 electoral college votes as against 206 for Romney, and 51 per cent of the popular vote as against 47 per cent for the Republican.

But the election was, in many ways, a predictor of the fact that American electorate was getting slowly divided. If you look at the results map in this story, it is clear that red states and blue states were practically split through the middle of the nation. Obama won the more populous and coastal states where miniorities and immigrants live in large numbers. Romney won much of the north, middle America and conservative south, often described as the Bible Belt.

Obama did extremly well with youth, Latinos and Blacks, whereas white voters appear to have preferred Romney. In the second term of Obama, that division only worsened, including protests after police killings of Black people.

The emergence of migrant communities as voting blocs became an issue for many in the white majority, who gravitated towards a more rightwing approach opposing immigration, a sentiment captured and amplified by Donald Trump.

US elections: Did Obama re-election lead to rise of Trump? Remembering Obama vs Romney in 2012

Over the past 10 years, the Republican Party has been reshaped as an outpost of Donald Trump's views, but the Grand Old Party of US politics has a storied history far from its current right-wing avatar.

Not many know that the Republican Party was founded by anti-slavery activists in 1854.

Along with groups like former Whigs and Free Soilers, they created the party to fight against the expansion of slavery of Africans into new areas in the United States.

Equally unbelievable when compared to the present stance of Democrats is that that party had supported slavery. The Republicans became the main opposition to the Democratic party with their fight against slavery.

Possibly the most well-known figure in the Republican party is&nbsp;Abraham Lincoln, who became the first Republican president and went on to serve from 1861 to 1865 till his assassination.

Lincoln's election in 1860 took place amid the conflict between the pro-slavery southern states and the rest of the union, which eventually led to the American Civil War following the secession move by the South.

Under Lincoln, the abolitionist North won the Civil War, and the Republican president made the Emancipation Proclamation, which set the US on a path towards ending slavery.

Republican party gave several other prominent presidents including Ulysses S Grant, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan. It also has the not-so-bright record of Richard Nixon, the only US president who was forced to resign.&nbsp;

The slow move of the party towards conservative and right-wing politics and economic policies was cemented by Reagan, and his Republican successors George HW Bush, his son George W Bush and then, Donald Trump.

At various times, the Republicans controlled Congress and the US legislature. They had the majority in the House of Representatives in 1947-49 and 2011-2019. In the Senate, they were in the majority in the 1980s and early 2000s, wresting majority again in the 2015-2021 period.

When compared to the anti-slavery idealism of its founders which was progressive for its time, the current politics of the Republicans is almost unbelievable.&nbsp;

The party currently advocates free-market policies and limited government intervention in people's lives, particularly in taxation.

While it endorses individual freedom away from government authority, the party is also conservative in its fiscal and social policies.&nbsp;

Trump is an ardent opponent of immigration, particularly from Latin American and Muslim nations.&nbsp;

His party is also opposed to taxing the rich, and government intervention in healthcare and medical insurance.

On the issue of abortion, the current Republicans prefer the right to life to the right of choice.

Republican presidents like George Bush and George W Bush have led the meddling of the US in global issues, including W's move to export democracy that led to civil wars, conflicts and the rise of Islamic terrorism in West Asia, and at least partially caused the 9/11 attacks of 2001.&nbsp;

Under Trump, the Republican Party seemed to favour American isolationism, with his key slogan being Make America Great Again.

Will Trump lead the Grand Old Party back into power and shape the legislative and policy landscape of the US?

We will know in November.

Donald Trump, while addressing his supporters in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday (Oct 28), said he is "not a Nazi”, in a rally in the final week of the White House race. He made the remarks following the accusations of authoritarianism and being termed as fascist by the critics.&nbsp;

Vice President&nbsp;Kamala Harris, who is also participating in the race to become the next president, accused Trump of aggravating divisions between groups or individuals.

Trump told his supporters in Georgia that his critics were labelling him as the modern-day "Hitler."&nbsp;

'I'm not a Nazi. I'm the opposite of a Nazi' says Donald Trump at campaign rally

Former United States president and&nbsp;presidential candidate Donald Trump went on a rant recently on filmmaker Ali Abbasi's latest film The Apprentice, which narrates the Republican's initial years as a real estate giant in New York and his relationship with attorney Roy Cohn. Perhaps, Trump's reaction stems from information that is fed to him because had he watched the film, he may have only objected to certain aspects of Abbasi's provocative film and not ranted about it in its entirety.&nbsp;

The Apprentice shows Trump (played stupendously well by Sebastian Stan) in his usual megalomaniac, ruthless avatar – an image that Trump has over the years created – painstakingly, if I may add so – but also humanises him to a certain extent. Written by Gabriel Sherman, the film mostly focuses on Trump in his initial years, trying desperately to break into the elite circle of New York and become famous and grow his father's business.&nbsp;

It is at a members-only elite club that young Trump meets the bullish Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), a star attorney who takes a liking for the blonde young man. It takes Donald&nbsp;a bit of persuasion to convince him to represent his father in a case that the federal government has slapped against Trump Village which has discriminated against African-American tenants. Roy eventually agrees as he feels Trump is a '24-carat American patriot'. Not only does Cohn&nbsp;win the case, but he takes Trump under his wings and moulds him as a ruthless businessman who can go to any length, and use all sorts of nefarious tactics to bend state laws to build his real estate empire.&nbsp;

Cohn teaches Trump life's three rules – Admit nothing, deny everything and claim victory, no matter what the outcome of a skirmish is. Cohn also uses the strategy of attack, attack and attack and uses manipulative ways to coax mayors, and other government officials to give Donald leeway as he builds the Hyatt hotel and then the Trump towers.

In the first half of the film, Trump is seen more as a follower of the dynamic Cohn. He shadows him in everything except, perhaps Roy's way of colourful life or drugs and sex. It is also around this period that Donald meets model and aspiring interior designer Ivana (played by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova) whom he falls in love with and marries much to Roy's discomfort.

<img alt="f" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="435f046c-856d-4393-af1d-415152599699" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/Your%20paragraph%20text%20%2813%29.png" />

If the first half is dedicated to Roy-Donald's relationship, the second half shifts focus solely on Trump who grows out of his mentor's shadow, adapting his distinct personality, giddy with success and power. In the first half, Trump is almost unrecognisable and we only see a man trying desperately to break into the power corridors of America and make a mark for himself, shadowing the influential and powerful Cohn. The second half of the transformation seems a bit sudden but it is Trump that the world knows more of. A calculative, cold-hearted, megalomaniac who is only interested in his own benefits and looks out for himself.

Sherman's writing adds layers to Donald and Roy's personalities. Trump is shown initially as an insecure man who later builds his version of truth which cannot be changed under any circumstance. Roy, a closeted gay man, makes extra efforts to show his alpha male energy to the world, cussing, and making fun of the marginalised just to be accepted by one and all in the corridors of power.&nbsp;

<img alt="g" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="869d7fb6-42d5-45bb-8932-7c5f38058efb" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/Your%20paragraph%20text%20%2814%29.png" />

Sherman's writing and Abbasi's deft direction is brilliantly supported by great performances by Stan and Strong. Stan gets Trump's mannerisms, the slight lisp, the facial twitches to the T. Initially as a young businessman, you can't seem to identify with Stan's Trump but in the second half, you see the uncanny similarities.&nbsp;

The film, however, belongs to Strong. You can't take your eyes off the actor who makes Roy such an intriguing character. With a constant deadpan expression and some witty lines, Strong's Roy Cohn is a performance that will be remembered for a long long time. Near the end of the film, as Donald and Roy's relationship strains, a scene has strong feebly standing in front of a lit-up cake and breaking down. Former United States president and presidential candidate Donald Trump went on a rant recently on filmmaker Ali Abbasi's latest film The Apprentice, which narrates the Republican's initial years as a real estate giant in New York and his relationship with attorney Roy Cohn. Perhaps, Trump's reaction stems from information that is fed to him because had he watched the film, he may have only objected to certain aspects of Abbasi's provocative film and not ranted about it in its entirety. The Apprentice shows Trump (played stupendously well by Sebastian Stan) in his usual megalomaniac, ruthless avatar – an image that Trump has over the years created – painstakingly, if I may add so – but also humanises him to a certain extent. Written by Gabriel Sherman, the film mostly focuses on Trump in his initial years, trying desperately to break into the elite circle of New York and become famous and grow his father's business. It is at a members-only elite club that young Trump meets the bullish Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), a star attorney who takes a liking for the blonde young man. It takes Donald a bit of persuasion to convince him to represent his father in a case that the federal government has slapped against Trump Village which has discriminated against African-American tenants. Roy eventually agrees as he feels Trump is a '24-carat American patriot'. Not only does Cohn win the case, but he takes Trump under his wings and moulds him as a ruthless businessman who can go to any length, and use all sorts of nefarious tactics to bend state laws to build his real estate empire. Sherman's writing adds layers to Donald and Roy's personalities. Trump is shown initially as an insecure man who later builds his version of truth which cannot be changed under any circumstance. Roy, a closeted gay man, makes extra efforts to show his alpha male energy to the world, cussing, and making fun of the marginalised just to be accepted by one and all in the corridors of power. Sherman's writing and Abbasi's deft direction is brilliantly supported by great performances by Stan and Strong. Stan gets Trump's mannerisms, the slight lisp, the facial twitches to the T. Initially as a young businessman, you can't seem to identify with Stan's Trump but in the second half, you see the uncanny similarities. The scene is the most heart-wrenching scene of the film, where you know that the man you are sympathising for is not the right man yet you see yourself rooting for him. If you're a member of the Uniformed Services of the United States (US), here is what you need to know when you cast your vote for the November 5 presidential election in the country.

If you're a member of the Uniformed Services of the United States (US), here is what you need to know when you cast your vote for the November 5 presidential election in the country. The election is less than 10 days away and millions of voters across the country are waiting to exercise their franchise to choose who will be the next president – Donald Trump (Republican Party) or Kamala Harris (Democratic Party). Also read | US presidential election 2024: What ID should you bring on polling day? A look at the guidelines If you are on active duty in one of the country's uniformed services, you are eligible to vote in the election. Here's how: What is UOCAVA? Members of the uniformed services on active duty and their spouses or other dependent family members are eligible to vote under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). "If you are on active duty in one of our nation’s uniformed services or if you are the spouse or dependent of an active-duty service member, and if you are absent, because of your service or your spouse’s or parent’s service, from the place of your domicile, you are eligible to vote by absentee ballot under the UOCAVA," according to the Overseas Vote Foundation. The UOCAVA requires that the states and territories allow certain groups of citizens to register and vote absentee in elections for federal offices. In addition, most states and territories have laws allowing citizens covered by UOCAVA to register and vote absentee in state and local elections as well. How to apply for an absentee ballot for the election? You should use the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to make a simultaneous voter registration application and absentee ballot request, the Overseas Vote Foundation states on its website. > Fill out the FPCA and send it to your election office. > Check your voter registration deadline for the election based on your state. According to the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), it had been suggested to send the FPCA by August 1. > Your voting residence (the US state or territory where you are registering to vote) is likely your legal residence. Click on this link to determine your voting residence. "Using the FPCA ensures that your state will send your ballot to you at least 45 days before the election," the FVAP states. > For the presidential election, service members on active duty and their kin should have received their ballot by early October. > According to the FVAP, the recommended vote days for the presidential election are – October 1 (for service members on a ship at sea); October 24 (for service members outside the US); and October 31 (for service members at stateside). > If you requested your ballot but haven't received it, contact your election office to ask about the ballot request. > If there isn't enough time to receive and send back your ballot before the election, use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). Click on the link to learn more > The FWAB works like a backup ballot. If your official absentee ballot arrives after sending in the FWAB, fill out and send in the official ballot too. Only one will be counted, the FVAP states. What happens once you submit your FPCA? Once you have submitted your FPCA, an election official will send you (by mail) an unmarked absentee ballot, a set of instructions, an inner envelope, and an outer envelope. Here comes the important part – read and follow the instructions carefully and comply with the requirements of the double-envelope system. > You should mark your ballot in secret and then place the marked ballot in the inner envelope. The inner envelope should have no identifying markings. > You then seal the inner envelope, place it in the outer envelope and seal the outer envelope. > On the back of the outer envelope, which is addressed to the election official, you must complete the affidavit and include your identifying information. > Then you transmit the sealed outer envelope back to the election official.

Former United States (US) president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump paced his rally stage in silence for nearly 20 minutes Friday (Oct 18) night in Detroit after his microphone cut out. A report by the news agency Associated Press said that Trump was about to wax on about one of his favourite subjects, tariffs, working up to naming it by first teasing “the most beautiful word in the dictionary.” Very quickly afterwards, the sound went down. 'Won't pay the bill for this stupid company...' Trump roamed around the stage for some 20 minutes, before returning to the microphone after the audio started working again. “Well thank you, everybody. Thank you. So now what happens is I won’t pay the bill for this stupid company that rented us this crap. I won’t pay the bill and then we’ll have a story that Trump didn’t pay the bill,” the Republican presidential candidate said. Second time in a week that Trump's event was interrupted This was the second time in a week that Trump's event was interrupted. On Monday, Trump cut off a town hall and instead played music after multiple people in the audience needed medical attention, the Associated Press report said. Trump is famously attuned to his image and the mechanics of his rallies, often commenting on the microphones and teleprompters. Aides are known to travel with multiple backup mics — though it was unclear why they weren’t able to locate one immediately on Friday. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' campaign used a video of the Friday interruption (at Trump's rally) to push a message that the Republican may not have the energy to be president again. “An exhausted Trump awkwardly walks in circles on stage after his microphone stops working,” Harris' campaign said in a post on X. Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is the Republican presidential candidate, said he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin&nbsp;Netanyahu&nbsp;"like two days ago."

Trump was asked when last he spoke to the Israeli leader during a Fox News interview that aired on Sunday (October 13).

"Like two days ago and he came to my house in Florida, Mar-a-Lago with his wife who was lovely," he responded.

Trump met with&nbsp;Netanyahu&nbsp;at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, in July. It was their first meeting since the end of Trump's presidency. U.S. President Joe Biden also spoke with&nbsp;Netanyahu&nbsp;last week amid tensions with Iran.

Their Wednesday call was the first known conversation between the two leaders since August. It coincided with a sharp escalation of Israel's conflict with Iran and the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah.

During the Fox interview, Trump also suggested he could impose tariffs higher than 200% on vehicles imported from Mexico, saying his aim would be to prevent the selling of cars from Mexico into the United States.

Trump, facing Democrat Kamala Harris in a tight race, has previously pledged that if elected again as president he would set a 100% duty on imported cars and trucks with the goal of aiding the domestic auto industry.

Trump says he spoke to Israeli PM Netanyahu 'two days ago' amid rising tensions

After allegations that a Kamala Harris interview for the programme 60 minutes was edited creatively by CBS, her Republican rival for White House Donald Trump and several party politicians and commentators are putting pressure on the channel to release the full transcript.

What set tongues wagging was that CBS aired a totally different answer to the same question from what was teased as a 60 minutes preview on social media. The clips have now gone viral.

The interview fiasco comes amid a media onslaught&nbsp;by Harris, who despite amassing record campaign funds of over a billion dollars, is unable to break into Trump's advantage in opinion polls, particularly in swing states.

<h2>What really happened?</h2>

CBS aired a clip of the exchange between Harris and the host on 60 Minutes that aired on October 6. The question was whether the US had any influence over Israel.

Kamala gave a rambling answer which was later described by the Trump camp as a 'word salad'.

"Well Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region," she said.

Oddly, that answer was different from the clip that aired on 60 minutes, where she said, "We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end."

Trump jumped at the opportunity to tarnish Harris, saying&nbsp;60 Minutes&nbsp;sliced&nbsp;her answers to questions, "which were virtually incoherent, over and over again, some by as many as four times in a single sentence or thought.”

Accusing CBS of making illegal changes to Harris look more presidential, Trump said in a post on Truth Social: “This is a stain on the reputation of 60 Minutes that is not recoverable… It is the very definition of FAKE NEWS! ”

Accusing CBS of 'deceptive editing,' Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt called for the full, unedited version of the interview to be released.

"On Sunday, 60 Minutes teased Kamala's highly-anticipated sit-down interview with one of her worst word salads to date, which received significant criticism on social media. Soon, right-wing media, politicians and commentariat also demanded that CBS release the full transcript. The issue became a full-blown meme on social media.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, an Afghan man who was arrested for plotting an Islamic State-inspired&nbsp; terror attack targeting US presidential election, had once worked with CIA, multiple American media outlets reported.

According to the reports, it is not clear if the 27-year old was radicalised before or after he came to the US after the American troop withdrawal from Afghanistan as Taliban took over the reins at the end of a bloody war of over 20 years.

He was arrested on Monday (Oct 7) from Oklahoma City for the terror plot&nbsp;inspired by the Islamic State group.

According to US court documents, Tawhedi and other suspects including his juvenile brother-in-law planned a shooting attack on large gatherings during Election Day, November 5, when Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will fight for the White House.

The conspirators sold their home and belongings and bought firearms to carry out the attack, including two AK-47 rifles which they got just before their arrest, said the documents unsealed on Tuesday (Oct 8).

Tawhedi reportedly searched online for access to surveillance and security cameras in the US capital Washington DC. In July, he checked webcams that show the White House and the Washington Monument. He also looked for states in the US where gun laws were relaxed.

He told the investigators the plotters expected to achieve martyrdom,&nbsp;said the court documents.

Tawhedi, who is currently in custody, had accessed ISIS propaganda and send money to a charity run by the terror group.

Tawhedi is expected to appear for a hearing on October 17.

On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Afghan nationals who entered the US were screened and vetted by intelligence, law enforcement and counterterrorism professionals.

"With every new information that emerges that if that individual could pose a threat to public safety, we take immediate action," she added, without answering specific questions about the terror plot.&nbsp;

Jimmy Carter became the first US president to turn 100, but presidential candidate Donald Trump has chosen to take a dig at him instead of wishing him happy birthday. Speaking at a campaign event, the former US president said Carter is now considered a brilliant president when compared to current incumbent Joe Biden.

At the rally in Waunakee, Wisconsin, Trump said President Biden has replaced Carter as the worst president in American history.

"Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison [with Biden]," Trump said about the 39th president, who is a Democrat.

This is not the first time that Trump attacked the former president. In May, at a campaign event&nbsp; in New Jersey, he misnamed him after former tennis star Jimmy Connors, while joking "he's also happy."

US vice presidential contenders JD Vance and Tim Walz clashed on Tuesday (Oct 1) in the first and potentially the last televised debate before the November elections. The two candidates clashed over a variety of issues, including abortion and immigration, even as the discussions repeatedly circled back to Vance's running mate Donald Trump.&nbsp;

However, the debate between the Republican candidate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, and his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, took a deeper dive into policy compared to the September debate between Trump and Kamala Harris.&nbsp;

During the debate, Tim Walz, who appeared nervous early on, criticised Vance for supporting what he called false claims about Haitian migrants, accusing him of fuelling divisions on immigration. He emphasised that migration should not be used as a "talking point," but rather as a humanitarian issue.

Foreign policy was another contentious point, with both contenders addressing the Iran missile attack on Israel.&nbsp;

Walz took aim at Trump's foreign policy, especially his withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and his relationships with leaders like Russia's Vladimir Putin. He said that Harris represents "steady leadership while Trump was "fickle".

Vance defended Trump's record, claiming that the former president delivered stability in global affairs.

"As much as Governor Walz just accused Donald Trump of being an agent of chaos, Donald Trump actually delivered stability in the world," he said.

Walz also faced some uncomfortable moments, particularly when he had to admit he "misspoke" about being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests.

Vance vs Walz debate key takeaways: Trump overshadows high stakes US Vice presidential clash

Naked Trump statue: A huge Donald Trump effigy, fully naked, popped up alongside the Las Vegas Strip highway over the weekend, before disappearing as mysteriously as it made its debut, according to reports and social media posts.

The all-white supposed art installation, hanging 43-feet tall, caught the attention of several onlookers, shining briefly in all its naked glory not too far away from the Republican presidential candidate's real estate properties in the western US state of Nevada.

The effigy was hung on a construction crane, New York Post said in a report.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-comes-up-with-a-shocking-idea-to-end-violent-crime-in-us-suggests-a-day-like-the-purge-763269">Also read: Trump comes up with shocking idea to end violent crime in US, suggests a day like 'The Purge'</a>

The massive structure popped up nearly 28 miles away from the Trump International Hotel in the Sin City.

It was positioned near a highway that connects Las Vegas to Salt Lake City, but a bit away from the main traffic choke points, probably as it was lewd, according to New York Post.

The report said that it was not the only effigy of Trump to appear in recent times. Similar ones are popping up in New York’s Union Square to Los Angeles, Cleveland, Seattle and San Francisco.

It said it was not clear if these are part of a single art project or unrelated.

Some Trump supporters appeared outraged at the abomination, particularly as it was erected ahead of a rally by his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in Las Vegas.

This is not the first time that Trump was mocked in artworks. A so-called baby blimp of Trump was floated in London ahead of the 2020 election.

Republican presidential candidate and former United States (US) president Donald Trump would meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday (Sept 27). Trump made this announcement on Thursday, just hours after Democratic President Joe Biden announced more than $8 billion in new military aid for Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia since late February 2022. Zelensky has long sought a meeting with Trump. The two leaders spoke by phone in July but have not met in person since Trump's term as president ended in 2021. The meeting will take place at Trump Tower, Trump told reporters. "We'll see what happens," he added. Trump shares message from Zelensky Trump posted a message from Zelensky on his social media platform Truth Social. In the message, Zelensky said he always speaks “with great respect” about Trump, and argues the two men “have to strive to understand each other and remain in close contact.” “I believe it’s important for us to have a personal contact and to understand each other 100%," Zelensky added. Harris pledges support for Ukraine Trump's announcement (about meeting Zelensky) came just before Vice President and current Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris pledged support for Ukraine and - in a veiled reference to Trump - said those who would have Ukraine swap land for peace with Russia were supporting "proposals of surrender." Harris was speaking alongside Zelensky at the White House, a day after Trump assailed him for not making a deal with Russia that Trump said could have ended the war and shortly after the White House announcement of the new aid package, the news agency Reuters reported. In the US, Zelensky hopes to present 'victory plan' Zelensky had said before departing for New York for the annual UN General Assembly he hoped to present his "victory plan" against Russia to Harris, Trump and Biden. Meanwhile, the US aid announced by Biden includes the first shipment of a precision-guided glide bomb called the Joint Standoff Weapon, with a range of up to 130 kilometres. The medium-range missile gives Ukraine a major upgrade to the weapons it is using to strike Russian forces, allowing the Ukrainians to do it at safer distances. Zelensky thanked Biden and the US Congress for the new military aid package, saying Ukraine would use it "in the most efficient and transparent manner". (With inputs from agencies)

Elon Musk shared a TikTok video&nbsp;purportedly featuring a woman of&nbsp;Haitian descent&nbsp;sharing reasons why Haitians eat cats. This comes after former United States president and Republican nominee&nbsp;Donald Trump made claims during the presidential&nbsp;debate with Vice President and Democratic hopeful Kamala Harris, saying that illegal immigrants from Haiti were eating pets in a&nbsp;city in the US state of Ohio.

Musk, who has endorsed Trump ahead of the US presidential election, shared the post after several media outlets were fact-checking claims made by the former president.&nbsp;

The woman, named Rebekah Faidia on TikTok, also speaks about the 'voodoo' practices in Haiti, describing them as "truly demonic". She said that her father immigrated from Haiti to the US in the late 1960s as a teenager.&nbsp;

Noting that the majority of the island does practice voodoo, she said, "My father and I are now estranged, but I did know him in my very, very young years. When he immigrated, he was one person, and they weren't sending thousands of Haitians to one area...he said that the majority of the island does practice voodoo."&nbsp;

People in the US have a really hard time imagining that type of thing, but it is true. Second, they do animal sacrifices for their religion, voodoo. They make these animal sacrifices to these gods for different reasons," she said.&nbsp;

Faidia,&nbsp;defending the former president, said, "It is not racist" to acknowledge the problem, adding that everyone just wants to joke about Trump saying this rather than actually checking if this is real.&nbsp;

Right after saying this, he was immediately fact-checked by the debate moderators, who said that there was no proof of that.&nbsp;

Republican US Senate candidate Tim Sheehy, who is challenging Democratic Senator Jon Tester with the backing of former President Donald Trump, has found himself in a pickle over his&nbsp;comments about Native Americans.

Tribal leaders in Montana are demanding his apology after Sheehy made offensive comments about Native Americans, saying that they are “drunk at 8:00 AM”.

Char-Koosta News shared audio recordings where Sheehy can be heard making remarks&nbsp;about the native Americans. In one recording, Sheehy talks about his ranching partner, who is a member of the Crow Tribe and describes their activities on the Crow Reservation in southeastern Montana. “Great way to bond with all the Indians, to be out there while they’re drunk at 8:00 AM,” Sheehy says.

In another recording, he says, “If you know a tough crowd, you want to go to the Crow res.&nbsp;They let you know whether they like you or not — there’s Coors Light cans flying by your head riding by,” he added.

The Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council, which represents 11 tribes and First Nations in the western US and Canada, criticised Sheehy's comments for reinforcing harmful stereotypes about Native Americans. Council Chair Bryce Kirk sent a letter to Sheehy's campaign on Tuesday, calling for an apology.&nbsp;

Sheehy’s campaign did not challenge the authenticity of the recordings, which the tribal newspaper reported were from fundraising events in Montana last November.&nbsp;

Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump&nbsp;hates him and is secretly rooting for Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris to win in the upcoming election, a former aide of the Republican leader has claimed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director for only 11 days in 2017, made the stunning claim during a recent interview on the MeidasTouch podcast.

“Maybe Melania Trump. That could be the only person I think of. Because she hates (Trump),” said Scaramucci, adding that the former First Lady was keener to see&nbsp;Harris win the November elections.&nbsp;

Scaramucci suggested that Melania's hatred for Trump was so strong that he used it as a standard to gauge other people and their feelings towards the former president.&nbsp;He jokingly said that even the podcast host and his wife are a little bit nicer to Trump than Melania is.

'Melania Trump wants Kamala Harris to win': Ex-Donald Trump aide makes surprising claim

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has posted a fake image on social media of popstar Taylor Swift supporting his candidature for the upcoming presidential elections.&nbsp;

On Sunday, a&nbsp;post by the Republican candidate on Truth Social showed Swift dressed in red, white and blue with a caption that said "Taylor Swift Wants You To Vote For Donald Trump." "I accept!" Trump wrote.

Many are aware that Swift has never endorsed a candidate publicly in the 2024 race. However, she has supported Democrats earlier. Trump is a Republican candidate.&nbsp;

Swift had backed US President Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris in 2020. At the 2024 elections, Harris will be contesting for the elections against Trump.&nbsp;

Swift also criticized Trump in a 2020 documentary.

Swift is known to be one of the iconic figures in pop culture and has a huge fan base worldwide who proudly call themselves Swifties. Perhaps, Trump was eager to cash in on Taylor Swift's popularity, sharing photos of young women wearing "Swifties for Trump" shirts, and a satirical article with the headline "Swifties Turning to Trump After ISIS Foiled Taylor Swift Concert." The article was marked "SATIRE" above the headline.

"Swifties for Trump is a massive movement that grows bigger every single day," Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement when asked for comment about the fake Swift image. We aren't sure if Cheung's comment was a jibe at the singer and her fans or if he genuinely was mistaken by the fake images.&nbsp;

Soon after the images surfaced online, Swift fans and watchdog groups pointed out that images posted by Trump appeared to be deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence.

Trump's post was "yet another example of AI's power to create misinformation," consumer group Public Citizen said, as per Reuters. "The potential harms to our society that could result from such misinformation, including abuses of our elections, are wide-reaching and immensely damaging," the group added.

Taylor Swift's political leanings

While Swift has been busy touring with her Eras Tour worldwide, at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Swift fan Rebecca Goff handed out friendship bracelets, a common practice among the singer's fans, at a Nevada Democratic Party breakfast.

Goff told the news agency that she felt Trump was the antithesis of Swift's ideals, including celebrating girlhood and womanhood. "That's like the antithesis of what Trump and the GOP are trying to do, especially to women. They're trying to make us smaller. They want us to go back to being just housewives, child bearers," Goff said.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-taylor-swift-travis-kelce-romance-leading-to-conspiracy-theories-on-biden-re-election-bid-ahead-of-superbowl-687753">Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce romance leading to conspiracy theories on Biden re-election bid ahead of Superbowl</a>

Swift has so far not reacted to Trump's posts but the former US President's post also drew online mockery and scorn from the singer's fans, some of whom called on her to take legal action against the former president.&nbsp;

In the past, Swift's feelers into politics have been heavily scrutinized, which has also led to political misinformation and right-wing conspiracy theories. Her silence had even led many to think she was a closet Republican, until 2018 when she broke both her silence and the internet by endorsing the Democratic opponent of far-right US Senator Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee.

In 2020, however, she had supported Biden and Harris. She has since spoken out in particular for the legal right to an abortion and LGBTQ rights.

In recent weeks, intense speculation has swirled on social media that Swift will endorse Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the November election. While the singer has yet to comment, some of her fans have already formed a group called "Swifties for Kamala," attracting tens of thousands of followers on platforms including Instagram and X.

Taylor Swift's political leanings While Swift has been busy touring with her Eras Tour worldwide, at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Swift fan Rebecca Goff handed out friendship bracelets, a common practice among the singer's fans, at a Nevada Democratic Party breakfast. Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce romance leading to conspiracy theories on Biden re-election bid ahead of Superbowl Swift has so far not reacted to Trump's posts but the former US President's post also drew online mockery and scorn from the singer's fans, some of whom called on her to take legal action against the former president.

Has Taylor Swift endorsed Donald Trump in the US Presidential race? Here's the truth

A New York state appeals court on Thursday (Aug 1) rejected Donald&nbsp;Trump's challenge to a gag order in his hush money criminal case, where the former US president was convicted in May on charges stemming from hush money paid to a porn star.

The decision by the Appellate Division in Manhattan means&nbsp;Trump, the Republican presidential nominee in the November 5 election, cannot comment publicly about individual prosecutors and others in the case until Justice Juan Merchan sentences him on September 18.

Trump's lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. They argued that the gag order violated his constitutional free speech rights under the First Amendment.

Merchan imposed the gag order a few weeks before the trial began on April 22, saying&nbsp;Trump's history of threatening statements could derail the proceedings.

Trump hush money case: Former US prez loses appeal against gag order

Donald Trump has slammed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray after the latter raised doubts about whether the former United States president was hit by a bullet during the assassination attempt, earlier this month.&nbsp;

Trump took to his Truth Social account and posted a lengthy message where he took shots at Wray as well as President Joe Biden over his deteriorating cognitive abilities.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘uneventful’ – Wrong!” Trump wrote on the social media platform.&nbsp;

The former president&nbsp;claims he was hit by a bullet that grazed the upper portion of his right ear after he moved his head just in time to avoid getting shot in the head.

"No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a 'bullet wound to the ear,'&nbsp;and that is what it was. No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!"&nbsp;

The FBI director raised suspicions over the validity of Trump's claims during the testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday (Jul 24).&nbsp;

“As I sit here right now, I don’t know whether that bullet… in addition to causing the grazing, could have landed somewhere else," he added.

Notably, 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Crooks, had fired a volley of eight rounds towards the former US president using an AR-15 rifle while he was addressing the rally in an open field.

It was only after one of the bullets grazed Trump and killed a rallygoer that the Secret Service was able to neutralise Crooks.&nbsp;

The FBI chief&nbsp;said his team had accounted for all the shots in the cartridges, including the ones that killed a rallygoer and wounded two others. Wray highlighted that Crooks' gun had a collapsible stock that made it easy to hide the gun.

Ohio Senate seat is his first outing in public office.

The comments were made in a Facebook message written by Vance wherein he wondered if Trump could be "America's Hitler". The private message was written by Vance to his former roommate at Yale Law School, and current Democratic Senator from Georgia Josh McLaurin, The Huff Post said in a report.

According to the report, Vance's message in full was,&nbsp;"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a**hole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler."

This comment was raked up by critics during Vance's 2022 Senate campaign.&nbsp;

JD Vance, Trump's pick for vice president, once called him Hitler of America, cynical "a**hole"

Former US President Donald Trump has rewritten his speech for the Republican National Convention (RNC), due to start on Monday (Jul 15). The assassination attempt on the Republican leader has had a profound impact as he is expected to focus on bringing the nation together instead of the usual rambling about his rival, Joe Biden's policies.&nbsp;

Trump said he wanted to take advantage of the historic moment to deliver the message of unity instead of his previous plan of exciting the voter base.&nbsp;

“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” Trump said in an interview with the&nbsp;Washington Examiner.

"The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would've been two days ago.&nbsp;It is a chance to bring the country together. I was given that chance," he added.&nbsp;

Trump has already landed in Milwaukee for the convention but is not scheduled to speak until Thursday (Jul 18) night.&nbsp;

The former president reflected on the events post the assassination attempt, stating that people from different walks of life and political views had reached out to him.&nbsp;

“That reality is just setting in,” he said. “I rarely look away from the crowd. Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?”

On Sunday morning, Trump posted a heartfelt message on his Truth Social handle where he said 'God alone' protected him from death.&nbsp;

"It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will fear not, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families," Trump wrote.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel, Pennsylvania. He was neutralised by the United States Secret Service agents, shortly after he fired the multiple rounds that grazed Trump's right ear while killing one civilian and injuring another.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Crooks was a registered Republican, according to state voter records but also donated to the Democrats after Biden came to power. His motive for the incident remains unknown at this stage.&nbsp;
