Cricket Australia continues to monitor the situation in Sri Lanka but has no plans to change the schedule of the upcoming tour of the island state despite continued violence, the governing body said on Thursday. 
Nine people have died and more than 300 have been injured this week in violent street protests against the government of the Indian Ocean nation, which is battling the worst economic crisis in its history.

Australia`s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) updated its travel advice on Sri Lanka on Wednesday, instructing potential visitors to reconsider their need to travel because of the security situation. 
"We are keeping a close eye on developments in Sri Lanka and talking regularly with DFAT and Sri Lanka Cricket," Cricket Australia said on Thursday.

"Our players and support staff have been briefed and will continue to be kept up to date. There are three weeks until the scheduled departure of the squad and at this stage there are no changes to the schedule." 
DFAT has also been advising potential visitors to Pakistan to reconsider their need to travel since March, in that case because of "the volatile security situation and high threat of terrorist attack, kidnapping and violence".

The Australia test side completed its first cricket tour of Pakistan since 1998 under "presidential-level" security last month. Australia announced three strong squads last month for the tour of Sri Lanka, which includes a Twenty20 series, five one-day internationals as well as two tests in Galle. An Australia "A" team will also play four matches.

Australia will travel to Sri Lanka for a 10-match series in all formats in June and July in its first tour of the South Asian country since 2016, when the hosts won a three-test series 3-0.

By chasing the target of 288 at the Eden Park, Australia smashed their own record of the highest successful chase in a Women's World Cup game.

Meg Lanning played a brilliant knock of 97 while opener Alyssa Healy laid the foundation for Australian victory with a quick 72.

In the ongoing Pakistan Cup, Haris has already scored 219 runs in seven matches at an average of just under 44 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Asif has picked up eight wickets in seven matches for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with an economy-rate of 4.39.

Haris was named in the Pakistan squad for the home series against New Zealand but the series couldn't be played at the time as the Kiwis returned home on the day of the series opener.

Australia declared their first innings on 556 for nine and then skittled out Pakistan for 148 to seize control of the second test in Karachi on Monday.

After more than two days of leather-hunt under a harsh sun at the National Stadium, Pakistan's abject batting capitulation handed Australia a mammoth first-innings lead of 408.

The hosts were spared the ignominy of a follow-on but Australia's overall lead bulged to 489 as the touring side finished day three on 81-1.

Their Islamabad-born opener Usman Khawaja was batting on 35 with Marnus Labuschagne on 37.

Medics and hospital staff were unable to revive him. Police have ruled out foul play but said an autopsy was required to confirm the cause of death.

Police superintendent Yuttana declined to comment when asked about the likely cause of death.

"But it was always our intention to make that decision at the end of the summer, and we followed that process.

"It got messy in terms of things playing out in the media."

Henderson, a CA director for three years and chief executive of a major healthcare firm, replaced interim chairman Richard Freudenstein, who stepped into the role in October after predecessor Earl Eddings lost support from state member associations and resigned.

CA has been under the microscope since the Newlands ball-tampering scandal erupted in 2018 and triggered a scathing review of the board's governance.

CA was embarrassed in November when former test captain Tim Paine resigned over a four-year-old "sexting" scandal that the governing body elected to keep from the public.
