In the report, the alleged Bigfoot was said to be yelping for around 10 seconds roughly and then halting before repeating the pattern again.

“All the dogs in the area started barking at once when the vocalisations ended. Normally there are many owls in the area and when I had gone outside previously I could hear them,” said the witness, and added that some of the noises were not coming from a coyote, bobcat, cougar or fox.

“When I had noticed the vocalizations had ended it was probably a good ten minutes before I could hear the owls again,” he added.

<h2>Is the report of the Bigfoot sighting credible?</h2>

As per founder and BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker, the report was not made public earlier because it was just a sound-only report, however, the claims were found credible and were placed in a Class B categorisation.

“My first thought was this is either a person or a bigfoot. I did a quick checklist in my head and ruled out person,”&nbsp;said the witness.

“It was solid black from head to toe with no colour differences. It was also too large to be a person. I had a size comparison with the deer ran just past it. The black figure was about 2 and a half times the height of the deer torso. It must have been between 8 and 10 feet tall,"&nbsp;the witness added.

The police further said that lifesaving measures were provided to the children and they were taken to a hospital, where they remained in intensive care on Saturday. Man taken into custody The man was taken into custody and it was not clear if he had a lawyer. “It is without a doubt the swift response by our patrol officers saved the lives of these children,” the police said. A Connecticut woman filed a complaint against the fast-casual salad chain Chopt on Monday (Nov 27) after she allegedly chewed a severed human finger while eating her salad.

The woman, Allison Cozzi, had purchased a salad from the chain’s Mount Kisco store in New York in April this year. According to the suit, she found a piece of the manager’s finger in the food.

She realised that&nbsp;“she was chewing on a portion of a human finger that had been mixed into and made a part of, the salad,” the suit read.

The manager allegedly cut off her left pointer finger while using a knife to cut arugula, the lawsuit alleged.

While the manager rushed to a local hospital to receive the treatment, the contaminated arugula was mixed into salad which was served to several customers, including Cozzi, as per the lawsuit.&nbsp;

US: Woman chews on human finger mixed with salad, sues restaurant

A well-known church pastor in Connecticut died after he was fatally struck by a police cruiser driven by a police officer who was on a call.

The incident happened on Wednesday (July 26) around 4 pm (local time).

According to the cops, 24-year-old Stamford Police Officer Zachary Lockwood was driving a police sport utility vehicle when he hit 69-year-old Tommie Jackson, who was getting his mail.

When Lockwood saw Jackson, the officer “made an evasive steering manoeuvre” before impact, Connecticut State Police said in a statement, adding that they have begun their investigation.

<h2>Pastor died in hospital</h2>

Immediately after the impact, Lockwood jumped out of the car and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Jackson until medical personnel arrived. Jackson died at Stamford Hospital.

Lockwood has been sent on administrative leave. He has been with the department since April 2022, police said.

“Rev. Jackson was a friend and adviser to many of us at the Police Department and we are profoundly saddened,” Stamford Assistant Chief Silas Redd said in the statement.

“Pastor Tommie Jackson was such a beacon of light for so many in the Stamford community, for past 25 plus years."

"His steadfast commitment to serve those under the guidance of his pastorate, extended far and wide," Redd said.

"The void that has been left by his untimely passing will be difficult to fill; only the passage of time will bring comfort and healing. I ask that we all keep both the family of Pastor Jackson, his church family, Officer Lockwood, and his family in our thoughts and prayers during these most difficult times.”

<h2>Mayor grieves death&nbsp;</h2>

Jackson was a pastor at Rehoboth Fellowship Church and Faith Tabernacle Church. He was also the assistant director of the Urban Redevelopment Commission, Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons said.

Simmons described Jackson as “a pillar in the Stamford community” who wore many hats.

Jackson’s wife, Dorye Jackson, is a commissioner in the city’s police department, the mayor said.

“I am devastated and heartbroken by the untimely passing of Reverend Tommie Jackson,” Simmons said in a statement.

“Reverend Jackson was a pillar in the Stamford community and led a life devoted to faith and public service,” she said, adding that he was “a larger-than-life presence.”

“Reverend Jackson’s decades of service and leadership made an indelible impact on the City of Stamford,” Simmons said.

“I was honoured to call him a friend and I will greatly miss his positive energy, wonderful sense of humour, and infectious smile."

ABC News quoting police sources reported that the gunman made the 911 call to report a fake domestic violence incident at home, and then ambushed the officers with an AR-15-style rifle.&nbsp;

Sergent Christine Jeltema confirmed the incident saying that the officers had got a call at 10.30 pm about a domestic violence case, and upon reaching them, they were confronted by the gunman.&nbsp;

“Words cannot express the sadness and grief that brings me before you this morning.&nbsp;Sadly, we lost two exceptional police officers, and a third was seriously injured as a result of senseless violence,” said Brian Gould of the Bristol Police Department said, reports New York Times.&nbsp;

The suspect was shot dead at the scene, while the brother was also shot and has been hospitalised in unknown condition, according to police.&nbsp;

According to local reports, the injured officer, 26-year-old Alec Iurato, was released from the hospital on Thursday after undergoing surgery for a severe gunshot wound.&nbsp;

Iurato was released from a Hartford hospital Thursday&nbsp;morning and was greeted by a sea of support and applause from officers.&nbsp;

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont called the deaths as "senseless tragedy", and ordered flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff.&nbsp;

"This is a devastating reminder of the dangers that police officers face every day to protect our families and neighbors from all kinds of situations. These officers are heroes," the governor was quoted as saying by ABC News.&nbsp;

The law is set to end an era of disproportionate convictions for marijuana possession against communities of color and pave the way for low-income residents to participate in the cannabis marketplace, injecting fresh revenue into the state’s economy and social welfare programs.

The legislation will take effect July 1, at which point using recreational marijuana will be legal in Connecticut. Adults 21 and older can possess up to 1.5 ounces of marijuana, and legal sales can start in May. Half of all state licenses to grow and sell marijuana will be issued to low-income applicants.

People will also be allowed to grow up to three mature plants and three immature plants for personal use starting July 2023.

Under the new law, the smell of marijuana alone will no longer be legal grounds to stop and search people. Nor will the suspected possession of up to 5 ounces.

In addition, people convicted of possession from January 1, 2000, through September 30, 2015, will have their records automatically cleared beginning in 2023. Those with convictions from outside this time period can apply to have their records expunged starting in July 2022.

“This has been years in the making,” said DeVaughn Ward, senior legislative council for the Marijuana Policy Project, a nationwide advocacy organization for marijuana legalisation and one of the proponents of Connecticut’s bill. “The amount of revenue that will be generated and directed back into our distressed communities is an unprecedented investment in communities of color.”

A study by the University of Connecticut found that the marijuana industry could generate between $784 million and $952 million in revenue in the state over five years. That would be enough to help jump-start the state’s economic recovery from the pandemic, the study’s authors said.

Tuesday’s signing marks an end to years of failed efforts to legalise the drug after the state approved it for medical use in 2012. Years later, dispensaries were still fighting to open for business.

People of color have been disproportionately penalized for marijuana possession in Connecticut, which decriminalized the possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana in 2011. Black people in the state were four times more likely to be arrested than white people for possession of marijuana, according to a report published last year by the American Civil Liberties Union.

“The war on cannabis, which was at its core a war on people in Black and brown communities, not only caused injustices and increased disparities in our state, it did little to protect public health and safety,” Lamont said in a statement Thursday, after the state Senate passed the bill.

“We’re not only effectively modernizing our laws and addressing inequities, we’re keeping Connecticut economically competitive with our neighboring states,” he said.

Polls have shown that Americans overwhelmingly support legalisation, with one study from the Pew Research Center this year finding that 60% of adults believe marijuana should be legal for medical and recreational use, while 31% support legalising it for medical use only.

Connecticut legalises recreational marijuana, sales from next May

A small porcelain bowl purchased in a yard sale at $35 in Connecticut, has turned out to be a rare 15th-century Chinese artifact worth between $300,000 to $500,000.

The white bowl adorned with cobalt blue paintings of flowers and other designs is about 6 inches (16cm) in diameter. It is about to be auctioned at&nbsp;Sotheby’s.

An antiques enthusiast came across the piece and thought it could be something special when browsing a yard sale in the New Haven area last year, according to Sotheby’s.

The piece, one of only seven such bowls known to exist in the world, will be up for auction in New York on 17 March as part of Sotheby’s Auction of Important Chinese Art.

The buyer, whom is not being named, paid the $35 asking price and later emailed information and photos to Sotheby’s asking for an evaluation. The auction house’s experts on Chinese ceramics and art, Angela McAteer and Hang Yin, get many such emails every week, but this was one of the kind they dream about.

“It was immediately apparent to both of us that we were looking at something really very, very special,” said McAteer, Sotheby’s senior vice-president and the head of its Chinese works of art department. “The style of painting, the shape of the bowl, even just the color of the blue is quite characteristic of that early, early 15th-century period of porcelain.”

They confirmed it was from the 1400s when they were able to look at it in person.

There are no scientific tests, only the trained eyes and hands of specialists. The bowl was very smooth to the touch, its glaze was silky and the color and designs are distinctive of the period.

“All the characteristics and hallmarks are there that identify it as a product of the early Ming period,” McAteer said.

McAteer and Yin determined the bowl dates back to the early 1400s during the reign of the Yongle emperor, the third ruler of the Ming dynasty, and was made for the Yongle court. The Yongle court was known to have ushered in a new style to the porcelain kilns in the city of Jingdezhen, and the bowl is a quintessential Yongle product, according to Sotheby’s.

The bowl was made in the shape of a lotus bud or chicken heart. Inside, it is decorated with a medallion at the bottom and a quatrefoil motif surrounded by flowers. The outside includes four blossoms of lotus, peony, chrysanthemum and pomegranate flower. There are also intricate patterns at the top of both the outside and inside.

McAteer said only six other such bowls are known to exist, and most of them are in museums. No others are in the United States. There are two at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan, two at museums in London and one in the National Museum of Iran in Tehran, according to Sotheby’s.

How the bowl ended up at a Connecticut yard sale remains a mystery. McAteer said it’s possible it was passed down through generations of the same family who did not know how unique it was.

“It’s always quite astounding to think that it kind of still happens, that these treasures can be discovered,“ McAteer said. “It’s always really exciting for us as specialists when something we didn’t even know existed here appears seemingly out of nowhere.”

The 62-second earworm appears in Episode 7, “Breaking the Fourth Wall,” and its purpose is simple: It explains what Wanda and Vision’s nosy neighbor, Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), has been up to this entire time. It has also taken on a life of its own, having spawned numerous trap, rock and rap remixes in the days since the episode debuted Feb 19.

“None of us knew this was going to be the song,” said composer Robert Lopez, 46, who created the songs for the series with his wife of 17 years, Oscar and Grammy-winning lyricist Kristen Anderson-Lopez, 48. “We woke up that morning to find that it was all over the internet, and it was like, ‘This is awesome.’”

It isn’t the first time the songwriting power couple has created an infectious earworm, having written tunes such as the Oscar- and Grammy-winning song “Let It Go” for the Disney animated movie “Frozen” and the Oscar-winning ballad “Remember Me” for the Pixar animated film “Coco.” They’ve won a pile of Oscars, Emmys, Tonys and Grammys between them. (Lopez, who co-conceived and co-wrote the hit musicals “Avenue Q” and “The Book of Mormon,” is in rarefied air as the only double EGOT — someone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, twice over.)

But it is a minute-long riff on “The Munsters” theme that has burned itself into the brains of the collective internet over the past week.

 
“It’s got an ‘Addams Family’ twist with an electric harpsichord,” Anderson-Lopez said. “It’s super-duper cool and feels like something you’d find in a haunted house.”

Sung by Hahn and a chorus of male backup singers (including Lopez), it delivers the dramatic revelation that Agnes is the powerful witch Agatha Harkness — and that it is she, not Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), who is behind all the oddities happening in sleepy little Westview. (Having killed a dog, she reveals, was among her dastardly deeds.)

When the song debuted on Spotify and iTunes on Tuesday, it leaped to the No. 1 slot on the iTunes soundtrack charts. (The trap remix created by hip-hop artist Leland Philpot is “the most glorious thing,” Anderson-Lopez said.) 
 
In a phone interview from Connecticut on Wednesday, Anderson-Lopez and Lopez shared how the track came together, their trick for getting their own songs out of their own heads and why Hahn’s character is “perfidious” rather than “hideous.” These are edited excerpts from the conversation.

Q: Did you have any idea “Agatha All Along” was going to blow up like this?

ROBERT LOPEZ: No, not at all. We were sort of sad that we were winding down and we didn’t know if we’d have any hits come out of this thing. But my goodness.

Q: What part of the song came to you first?

LOPEZ: We have a theme — the “WandaVision” motif — that’s in every single song. So that was how we began with “Agatha.”

KRISTEN ANDERSON-LOPEZ: But, in a way, “Agatha All Along” was there all along. We’ve been spoon-feeding a tritone that’s called the devil’s interval — the&nbsp; 'duh-duh-duh'&nbsp;— throughout the series. And then ultimately, when the big reveal happens with the 'DUH! DUH! DUH!', everyone had been hearing it steadily, so it felt like an old friend.

Q: Where did you look for inspiration for the song?

LOPEZ: We started with a different idea for a version of the song more along the lines of “That Girl.”

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: But it just wasn’t right; it just wasn’t churning my blood the way that I wanted it to. So then we thought: It’s a show about witches, right? So let’s embrace it. What other shows are about witches and Goth figures? “The Addams Family,” “The Munsters,” the “Monster Mash” — all these Halloween-y kind of songs that have this grinding, growling bari sax.

LOPEZ: We also have an electric harpsichord, which is what they use in “The Addams Family.” That’s the thing going dit-dit-dit-dit-dit-dit — the repeated chorus.

Q:Who does what when you’re writing a song?

LOPEZ: It changes with every song. Sometimes we’ll write it together in the same room, sometimes one of us will write the whole thing and the other one will take credit. In this case, Kristen wrote the full lyrics and gave them to me on a sheet of paper, and then I went to town with music.

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: I would wake up in the morning, and sometimes I’d be so excited to write the songs that I would write them in the shower. Get out, get a towel, scribble them on a piece of paper with drips, blurring ink — and Bobby would compose them by 10 a.m., and we’d record them after lunch, and then get notes at like 5 p.m.

Q:“Perfidious” is quite the lyric! Where did that come from?

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: We knew we didn’t want to say "hideous," because Agatha is still hot. So I looked at a rhyming dictionary and was like: “'Perfidious!' It’s so great! It’s so perfect!”

LOPEZ: We always have an SAT word in the lyrics somewhere because people appreciate learning a word. And if they already know it, they appreciate being able to brag that they know it.

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: Right! “Frozen fractals …” [from “Let It Go”]

Q: Your neighbors were not fans of one of your last hits, “Let It Go.” Has reaction been more favorable this time around?

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: It’s still early — they’ve had less than a week. But I’m starting to feel the trickles on Twitter. I’m getting messages saying, “Thank you so much for ‘Agatha All Along,’ now please remove it from my head!” and “It’s been five days, now take it back, please!”

Q: Do the songs you write get stuck in your head, too?

LOPEZ: Of course! You wake up in the middle of the night with it pounding in your ears. But having a song that gets in people’s heads is such an honor for us. It means what we created somehow magically connected across space and time and landed in another person’s neurons. It’s what was in our heads, and now it’s in their heads, and that’s something we now all share.

ANDERSON-LOPEZ:I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning with “She’s insidious / So perfidious” just going on a loop in my head. And so I replaced it with: “Don’t worry, / Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh, / be happy.”

LOPEZ: That’s how you get it out of your system …

ANDERSON-LOPEZ: … replace it with another thing that’s been stuck in your head before.

Letty Aronson, Allen’s sister, sent the statement — attributed to a spokesperson — shortly after the first episode aired, on behalf of Allen and Soon-Yi Previn, the filmmaker’s wife and the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow. In 1992, Farrow, Allen’s longtime girlfriend, learned of the relationship between Allen and Previn when Previn was a first-year college student. That relationship is also the subject of scrutiny in the four-part docuseries.

Neither Allen nor Previn participated in the series, but it does include audio excerpts from Allen’s recent memoir, “Apropos of Nothing.”

“These documentarians had no interest in the truth,” the statement said. “Instead, they spent years surreptitiously collaborating with the Farrows and their enablers to put together a hatchet job riddled with falsehoods.”

On Monday, the publisher of Allen’s memoir, Skyhorse, raised another objection to the series: that the filmmakers had used snippets from the audiobook without permission. In a statement, the president and publisher of Skyhorse, Tony Lyons, said that the “unauthorized” use of the audio in the first episode was “clear, willful infringement under existing legal precedent.”

Lyons said in the statement that the filmmakers did not request permission to use the excerpts and that the publisher learned late last week that the episodes make “extensive” use of the audiobook. The publisher’s lawyer notified HBO on Friday that “if the use of the audiobook were anywhere near what we were hearing, it would constitute copyright infringement,” he said.

The memoir was originally set to be published last year by Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group until dozens of Hachette employees staged a walkout in protest and the publisher reneged. About two weeks later, his book was published by Arcade Publishing, an imprint of the independent publisher Skyhorse.

In response to the publisher’s objections, an HBO spokesperson provided a statement from the filmmakers, saying, “The creators of ‘Allen v. Farrow’ legally used limited audio excerpts from Woody Allen’s memoir in the series under the Fair Use doctrine.” The doctrine has been invoked to allow artists and journalists — including documentary filmmakers — to use limited amounts of copyrighted works for certain purposes, including using the material to illustrate an argument or to serve as the subject of a critique.

Episode 1 includes extensive interviews with Mia Farrow and Dylan Farrow, who accused Allen of sexual assault when she was 7 years old. It also included interviews with family and friends who said that even before Aug. 4, 1992 — the day that Dylan Farrow says Allen assaulted her — they witnessed behavior from Allen toward his daughter that they saw as inappropriate.

Allen has long denied the abuse allegations, arguing that Mia Farrow had coached Dylan to make the allegations after learning about his relationship with Previn.

In Sunday’s statement, Allen continued to deny the claims.

“As has been known for decades, these allegations are categorically false,” the statement said. “Multiple agencies investigated them at the time and found that, whatever Dylan Farrow may have been led to believe, absolutely no abuse had ever taken place.”

In later episodes, the series raises questions about one of those investigations, in particular: a report issued by the Yale Child Sexual Abuse Clinic, at the Yale-New Haven Hospital, which found Dylan uncredible after interviewing the child nine times during a seven-month period. IT major Infosys has announced that it will establish $ 20.6 million-technology and innovation hub in the US state of Connecticut which is expected to create some 1,000 good paying, high tech jobs.

In May 2017, Infosys had announced that it planned to establish multiple technology and innovation hubs across the US with a focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, user experience, emerging digital technologies, cloud, and big data.

The Hartford hub in Connecticut is the latest such centre announced by the company, following the selection of Indianapolis, Indiana; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Providence, Rhode Island as other locations.

&quot;We are excited to announce the expansion of our presence in Connecticut and create 1,000 technology jobs in the state,&quot; Infosys president Ravi Kumar said.

A massive fire began at the Willimantic Waste and Paper Company in Connecticut on Sunday morning which could go on for days, media reports said.

Media reports said that small explosions were heard before smoke could be seen billowing into the air for miles which started appearing on the weather radar.&nbsp;

Officials said there are at least 12 fire departments and hundreds of firefighters on scene working to control the fire. Willimantic&rsquo;s Fire Chief Marc Shrivener said crews were on scene all night Sunday and into the day Monday.

There were no immediate reports of injuries and officials said it appears nobody was inside the facility when the blaze began.

Firefighters say 400 tons of paper plus garbage and construction materials burned in the fire at the 100,000 square foot recycling facility.

Officials say the debris from inside the facility is so contaminating that firefighters have to be hosed off after working to remove harmful chemicals.

Media reports further informed that people have been asked to stay indoors and keep their doors, windows shut because of the poor air quality. They have also been asked to avoid using water if possible as the strain fighting the fire is taking on the community&rsquo;s resources. Several roads and schools in the area have been closed.

Willimantic Waste Paper Co., Inc. is a family-owned waste and recycling company that services residential and commercial customers across Eastern Connecticut where about 200 employees work. The building is one of the largest facilities in town and is full of waste and recycling materials, making the fire difficult to contain.&nbsp;

Officials say the debris from inside the facility is so contaminating that firefighters have to be hosed off after working to remove harmful chemicals. Media reports further informed that people have been asked to stay indoors and keep their doors, windows shut because of the poor air quality. They have also been asked to avoid using water if possible as the strain fighting the fire is taking on the community’s resources. Several roads and schools in the area have been closed. Willimantic Waste Paper Co., Inc. is a family-owned waste and recycling company that services residential and commercial customers across Eastern Connecticut where about 200 employees work. The building is one of the largest facilities in town and is full of waste and recycling materials, making the fire difficult to contain.
