<h2>What do the ICC rules say?</h2>
Per Rule 1.2.7.3 of the ICC playing conditions for concussion substitution, &ldquo;The ICC Match Referee should ordinarily approve a Concussion Replacement Request if the replacement is a like-for-like player whose inclusion will not excessively advantage his team for the remainder of the match.&rdquo;
Besides, Rule 1.2.7.7 states: &ldquo;The decision of the ICC Match Referee in relation to any Concussion Replacement Request shall be final, and neither team shall have any right of appeal.&rdquo;
Given Buttler looked amused seeing Rana on the field, even mentioning that England will approach the match referee seeking an explanation on this, Kevin Pietersen, calling out the game when Rana dismissed Livingstone, said,&nbsp;

During the chase, England was sitting in the driver&rsquo;s seat with the opening stand adding 62 for the first wicket inside the Powerplay. England, however, failed to make the most of this start, as they kept losing wickets regularly, with Rana, the concussion sub, contributing with three (to his name), including that of Jacob Bethal and Liam Livingstone.
Although he did not blame Rana&rsquo;s concussion move as the reason for the loss, Buttler said they would anyway take some clarity (from the match referee) over this decision.&nbsp;

Copa America 2024: Teams to be allowed concussion substitutions

Speaking to the media after stumps on day two, the veteran spinner said it’s never easy to return from an injury or concussion, but knowing Warner’s stomach for comeback, Lyon is confident of him making it into the side for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series, scheduled from 1st to 5th March.

"When you get injured, concussed or a fracture in the arm, it's never going to be pleasant and your spirits daresay go down a little bit," Lyon told reporters. "But Davey is Davey, we love having him around the team. Talking to the medical staff, I think he could potentially play if he rests the next couple of days,” Lyon added.

"We get a decent break in between these test matches. So, if he's recovered well, I wouldn't be surprised if you see him out there again to be honest with you," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Lyon had Indian batters on the mat on day two. Starting with struggling KL Rahul, Lyon picked huge wickets of&nbsp;captain Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and returning Shreyas Iyer. After folding India on 262, one run shy of Australia’s first innings total, the visitors scored 61 for one at stumps, taking a lead of 62.

In Warner’s absence, Travis Head opened alongside Usman Khawaja and scored vital runs in testing conditions.

However, ICC regulations permit concussion test to be conducted at the end of the over, which happened in this case – the end of innings. There are suggestions that Jadeja probably suffered a delayed concussion.

“Should he have had a concussion test there and then?” Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket. “He would not have been able to bat.”
