Sam Smith recently shared the harrowing experience of a skiing accident that left them unable to walk for a month. In a candid episode of the Sidetracked with Annie and Nick podcast, released on July 18, the singer detailed their ordeal with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and subsequent recovery.

Smith, who uses they/them pronouns, recounted the incident that occurred earlier this year. "I completely ripped my ACL. I was skiing. I was an idiot and went on a black slope on the second day," the 32-year-old said. “I got taken down in a blood bag. It was the worst. It's a permanent thing."

The injury, they explained, involved the complete tearing of the ACL, a crucial ligament that helps stabilise the knee.

Opting for a non-surgical route, Smith faced significant challenges during their recovery. "It's in between your bones and helps you jump and spring around. It completely ripped and I decided to go down the non-surgical route but I couldn't walk for a month on this leg and it was awful," they continued. The singer was first seen with a leg brace and walking stick in Soho, New York City, back in January.

The period of immobility was a difficult one for Smith, who admitted, "It was the first time I'd ever not been able to move and I was holding onto a bit of weight. I was very anxious. I used it as an excuse to get my s**t together." This time of forced rest allowed Smith to reflect and reset various aspects of their life.

In addition to discussing their injury, Smith revealed that they recently made significant changes to their digital life. Needing a U.S. phone number and desiring a fresh start, Smith got a new phone and deleted old contacts, including numbers of exes. "I actually just got rid of my phone and I got a new phone. It's the first time I don't have my library of music that I'd had since I was like 11," Smith said. "I started again, fully started again. I needed an American number and my phone was just full of people like exes and all these different people through the years."

The singer also took a bold step by removing social media apps from their phone. "And I took social media off. Everything. It's crazy. I find myself sitting on benches now in parks just looking at the trees," they added.

Monday kick-started on a great note for ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli's fans as the trailer of his documentary Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli was unveiled.

It features members of the Indian film industry praising Rajamouli while also criticising his work obsession. The trailer begins with Rajamouli saying, “I want to tell an incredible story. I want people to get invested in the movie.”

It then cuts to his RRR actor, Jr NTR, who tells the camera, “This person is born to make movies. He is born to tell stories that haven’t been told.”

Baahubali actor Prabhas then says he has never met someone like Rajamouli before, describing him as “a mad person, that’s all,” highlighting his creative genius. Canadian filmmaker James Cameron makes a surprise appearance in the trailer, stating that Rajamouli has earned the respect to do anything and work with anybody.

Another RRR star, Ram Charan, says that sometimes he is shocked when he watches Rajamouli’s films as a third person and sees himself working in them. When asked about the downside of working with Rajamouli, his collaborators candidly discuss his obsession with storytelling and creating colossal action spectacles.

Ram Charan mentions seeing microphones break on set because Rajamouli was so consumed by the creative process. Jr NTR adds that at times, it feels like Rajamouli has no empathy, calling him a madman and saying there’s no point in arguing with the auteur.

The trailer concludes with Rajamouli saying that the only thing he is a slave to is the story he tells. Produced by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios, Modern Masters: S.S. Rajamouli is set to premiere on Netflix on August 2.

Disclaimer: This story has been published from a news agency feed with minimal edits to adhere to WION's style guide. As a gentleman, Beckham decided to split the money with Page.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin made their first red carpet appearance since the dismissal of Alec's recent court case tied to the Rust shooting incident. The couple attended a screening of War Game as part of the Hamptons International Film Festival's SummerDocs series on Saturday, July 20, in East Hampton, New York.

Alec, 66, looked dapper in a dark blue jacket, light blue shirt, grey pants, and brown shoes. He lovingly placed a hand on the waist of his wife, Hilaria, 40, who stunned in a light pink fitted dress and cream stiletto heels. The couple, who share seven children, appeared joyful and relaxed as they posed for photographs.

This public outing marks the first for the Baldwins since Alec’s involuntary manslaughter trial was dismissed with prejudice by a New Mexico judge on July 12. Alec was charged after a tragic incident on the set of the film Rust in which a gun he was holding discharged, injuring director Joel Souza and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The internet is full of weird food combination videos and Benny Blanco wants Selena Gomez to expand her culinary horizon and try the viral “watermelon pickle sandwich” with him. On Friday, the couple took to social media to share their first reactions to the weird and viral food combo.

The clip begins with Blanco slicing a watermelon into two bread-like wedges. He then assembles the sandwich with cheese, a pickle slice, balsamic vinegar, and basil. “All right, so then I guess it’s just like a sandwich,” he said to the camera, admitting that it “looks f***ing disgusting.”

After taking a hesitant bite, Blanco declared that the sandwich was “not that bad” and invited Gomez to give it a try. “All right, babe, come try,” he said.

Visibly sceptical, Gomez picked up the sandwich and shared, “I don’t want to. I’m not going to like this,” before adding, “But, I love pickles.”

On July 12, Gomez and Blanco took the “Who’s Most Likely To” challenge, giving fans a glimpse into their relationship. “All right, so then I guess it’s just like a sandwich,” he said to the camera, admitting that it “looks f***ing disgusting.” After taking a hesitant bite, Blanco declared that the sandwich was “not that bad” and invited Gomez to give it a try. “All right, babe, come try,” he said. Visibly sceptical, Gomez picked up the sandwich and shared, “I don’t want to. I’m not going to like this,” before adding, “But, I love pickles.” Also read: Anne Hathaway steals the spotlight at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in Germany Blanco then forced her to take a bite and said, “Just eat it!” While hesitating, Gomez took a bite and quickly declared her dislike for the unusual snack before leaving. Anne Hathaway steals the spotlight at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in Germany

Bella Hadid has reportedly hired a legal team to file a lawsuit against Adidas "for their lack of public accountability". She has accused the athleticwear giant of "spearheading a cruel and damaging campaign".

According to TMZ, Bella, born Isabella Khair Hadid, feels that she didn't know what she was getting herself into and she holds Adidas responsible for that. The TMZ report also stated Bella is still under contract with Adidas despite the company publicly announcing that they have dropped her.

What's the controversy?

Bella Hadid recently featured in an ad campaign for the relaunch of Adidas' SL72 sneaker. The campaign honoured the anniversary of the 1972 Olympics, which took place in Munich. However, Bella's involvement in the ad campaign raised eyebrows because she has been an outspoken advocate of Palestine amid the war with Israel. Back in 1972 at the Olympics, Palestinian terrorists had carried out an attack and killed several Israeli competitors and took nine hostages who were later murdered.

The campaign has ignited a debate online. Some netizens are calling out the brand for hiring Bella Hadid as the face of the launch. Others are backing the model and slamming trolls for targeting the model for her nationality and views.

"Is this real??? Jew-hating Palestinian, Bella Hadid, is the face of the 1972 Munich Olympics @adidas shoes, where Palestinian terrorists slaughtered the entire Israeli team. IS THIS ACTUALLY REAL??? Is Adidas completely INSANE????," wrote an X user.

"@Adidas recently launched a new campaign for their shoes to highlight the 1972 Munich Olympics. Eleven Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the Munich Olympics. Guess who the face of their campaign is? Bella Hadid, is a half-Palestinian model who has a history of spreading antisemitism and calling for violence against Israelis and Jews. She and her father frequently promote blood libels and antisemitic conspiracies against Jews," wrote another.

In Bella's support, another netizen wrote, "Sacking Bella Hadid because she’s Palestinian equates all acts committed by those with shared nationality. In essence, this makes every person on earth culpable, since no nation exists without criminal entities. This is peak racism @adidas. Welcome to the boycott list."

"The way Bella Hadid started the trend with the sambas, saving adidas from going downhill. Last 2-3 years, the brand was becoming trendy again, but now they ruined everything. We support Bella!" read a comment.

After massive backlash online, Adidas issued an apology letter and announced that they had removed the campaign from all their sites.

"We are conscious that connections have been made to tragic historical events — though these are completely unintentional — and we apologise for any upset or distress caused. As a result, we are revising the remainder of the campaign. We believe in sport as a unifying force around the world and will continue our efforts to champion diversity and equality in everything we do," the brand said in a statement shared with USA TODAY Sports.

As Wendy Williams turned 60 on Thursday (July 18), her family wished her luck and revealed in an interview that they are "rooting" for her as she celebrates her milestone birthday. The former TV show host's family also revealed that they have not been able to contact Wendy due to ongoing litigation.

Williams is currently under court-ordered guardianship and she suffers from primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Due to her condition and ongoing litigation, her family is unable to speak about her current situation or location and has largely been denied contact with her.

"Wendy Williams’s family is unable to speak on her current condition and location due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have largely been denied contact. But they are all rooting and praying for Wendy and want to express their well wishes as she celebrates her 60th birthday," the source told People. "She was, is, and always will be an icon."

Williams' court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey is yet to make a public announcement about Wendy's health.

Williams' family has struggled to stay in touch with her since her guardianship began in April 2022. In February, Williams' sister Wanda Finnie told People that she wasn't informed of her sister's diagnosis when Williams was placed in a facility for cognitive treatment. Finnie mentioned that the family hadn't received any updates on Williams' condition since the fall of 2021 when the star spent time in Florida with her family.

"When she was in Florida, there were a number of people involved. Even beyond family, there were doctors involved, people in Wendy’s professional world that were involved," Finnie said. "She had a health team in place, nurses in place, and she had family in place. She was getting healthier."

The family claims that Morrissey is currently the only person with unrestricted access to Williams. Finnie questioned the current system, asking, "How did she go from this aunt or sister that we love and is healthy one minute to this person who’s in and out of the hospital? How is that system better than the system the family could put in place? I don't know. I do know that this system is broken. I hope that at some point, Wendy becomes strong enough where she can speak on her own behalf.

"This is a career highlight," popular K-pop group Stray Kids said as they headlined the British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park Festival on Sunday. The eight-man group from South Korea debuted in 2018 after being formed by JYP Entertainment through a reality show. They have won over fans around the world with their genre-mixing sound and hit songs such as "God's Menu", "S-Class" and "Maniac".

Made up of members Changbin, Felix, Hyunjin, Lee Know, Han, Seungmin, Bang Chan and I.N, Stray Kids returned to London after nearly five years to make their UK festival debut.

"It's a really big festival and it's a really big space. It'll be really interesting to see how much the energy we bring to it will change that," said Han shortly before the group took to the stage to perform a high-energy one-hour-40-minute-long set in front of a crowd of thousands.

Named by Time magazine as one of the Next Generation Leaders, Stray Kids placed third on recorded music industry body IFPI's top ten list of global recording artists last year. Their third Korean-language studio album "5-Star" was last year's second biggest-selling album globally, IFPI said.

All eight members also walked the famed MET Gala red carpet this May, wearing custom Tommy Hilfiger suits. Bang Chan said the group were grateful for their strong streaming numbers and successes but added that the onus was on bringing meaningful music to their fans, known as STAYs.

"Lots of STAYs and a lot of people are giving us a lot of attention, so I don't think we should sit still and do nothing about it. That's why all the members are working hard in their parts," added Seungmin.

Part of that is the group's "comeback", their new EP, titled "ATE", which will be released on July 19.
ATE represents the eight members who have "eaten up" their comeback, said Felix, adding that fans could expect new concepts and styles.

"It really means a lot to us. It's been a while since our last album. With this album we really want to emphasize our eight members, how genuine we are with music and we've also put in a lot of styles of music for everyone out there to enjoy," said Bang Chan.

"We're bringing out all we can at this time and that makes us confident," added Changbin.

Hit series Shogun, The Bear, and Baby Reindeer are expected to rack up nominations for this year's Emmys as the contenders for television's version of the Oscars are unveiled Wednesday. Nominees will be announced in a live-streamed ceremony starting at 8:30 am Pacific time (1530 GMT), after which final-round voting begins for the 76th Emmy Awards, set for September 15.

Here are five things to look out for:

- Shogun brings the drama -

Shogun -- adapted from James Clavell's historical fiction novel -- transported viewers to early 17th-century Japan. Starting from the perspective of a marooned English sailor, its scope widens over 10 acclaimed episodes to span the intricate and deadly court politics of the era, fleshing out a remarkable cast of Japanese heroes and villains.

With another two seasons already in the works, it is a hot favourite in this year's drama categories. "Because it's got everything going for it in terms of acting, writing, directing" and many technical categories, "Shogun is probably going to be the top one," Deadline awards columnist Pete Hammond told AFP.

Shogun faces competition from the final season of Netflix's British royal saga The Crown, and Apple's The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston.

- Bear continues rampage? -

Set in a chaotic Chicago restaurant run by a group of close-knit but abrasive and occasionally abusive chefs, "The Bear" was a big winner for its debut season at last year's Emmys. It returned with an even more ambitious and experimental second run.

Sumptuous montages of Michelin star-level dishes were paired with extraordinary episodes like "Fishes" -- an hour-long portrait of a dysfunctional family tearing itself apart over one excruciating dinner. Bizarrely entered in the Emmys' comedy categories, despite dealing with hard-hitting issues like grief and addiction, The Bear is expected to contend again.

It is up against shows including Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

- Baby Reindeer controversy -

Limited series, for shows that end after a single season, is a category always packed with water-cooler hits. But this year, one made far more noise than the rest. Netflix's Baby Reindeer, adapted from Scottish comedian Richard Gadd's pitch-black one-man show about his encounters with a female stalker, was a global phenomenon.

It was billed as a "true story" -- a claim that helped lure audiences, but sparked a lawsuit from a British woman who says she was the inspiration for the stalker and is demanding $170 million in damages. "I don't think the controversy is going to hurt it in terms of nominations," said Hammond.

Baby Reindeer is in contention against the likes of Fargo, True Detective, Ripley and Lessons in Chemistry.

- Deja vu -

It often feels that award shows like the Emmys come around faster with each passing year. But this time, it really is true. The 76th Emmy Awards, scheduled for September 15, will be the second to take place in 2024 after last year's ceremony was postponed to January due to Hollywood strikes.

Complicating matters further, some shows like "The Bear" have recently released new seasons that will not become eligible for awards until the 2025 Emmys. Confused? The upcoming edition of the Emmys will honour television series that were broadcast between June 2023 and May 2024.

- Nominations announcement -

Tony Hale (Veep) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary) unveil the nominations this Wednesday from 8.30 am in Los Angeles (1530 GMT). Voting members of the US-based Television Academy will then have a month to catch up on their viewing before final-round voting takes place in mid-August.

Sporting red hair and a hand-painted corset designed by Dilara Findikoğlu, Doja channelled Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice from the hit London girl group, the Spice Girls. For those unaware, Geri wore the Union Jack dress at the 1997 Brit Awards.

Doja Cat is proving that she is a performer extraordinaire. At the 2024 Wireless festival held in London, UK, the American rapper and singer broke the stage with her closing act, giving everyone a ferocious masterclass in stage performance. The custom corset featured the UK's flag to give sartorial nods to the country. Doja styled it with a lace thong and fishnet tights. For her footwear, she opted for a pair of beige point-toe kitten heels. Geri Halliwell opened up about the iconic look in her British Vogue 'Life in Looks' video in 2020. "It’s 1997 and we were going to be performing in front of everyone.
