"The process of induction is on," one of the officials said, adding that initially five to six systems will be deployed in the area of operation on the Jammu frontier.

The force is also training troops to handle these systems, the official said.

In October last year, the BSF had issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) for acquiring the 'Anti Drone System'. The EoI was issued after several instances of UAVs dropping arms in Punjab from across the border were reported.

As per the specifications, the force has sought a ground-based anti-drone system in a stand-alone platform. The instrument will run on rechargeable batteries, the BSF has stated as the system has to be deployed in tough-to-access border areas that include dense forests, desert, rivers and others.

The system, the BSF specification said, should be capable to detect a lone suspicious flying object or group of UAVs (swarm attack) from a distance and should be capable to detect a target them within 10 seconds.?

It (system) should be capable to do a real-time scan, detection, track and neutralisation of flying objects like multi-copters, fixed-wing UAVs and radio-controlled UAVs in 360-degree environment, the October draft specifications said.

The force also desires that the prospective technology should have the "capability" to track multiple UAVs in a specified range and it should be able to neutralise the flying objects by jamming its radio and GPS (global positioning system) links simultaneously and also trigger signals to force-land the drone.

A top official of the BSF’s South Bengal Frontier confirmed that after the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed, there had been an increase in the number of migrants’ crossing over to the Bangladesh border.

“There is a substantial increase in the outflow of Bangladeshi migrants. As much as 90 per cent of the total of 268 persons were apprehended while venturing into Bangladesh. But this is not an exodus, the numbers have been small so far,” said YB Khurania, IG, South Bengal Frontier, BSF.

On being quizzed on which part of the state with the porous border with Bangladesh accounted for the maximum number of outflow, Khurania said the Gojadanga area of North 24 Parganas district saw a maximum outflow of Bangladeshi migrants.

On the other hand, officials highlighted that these people were apprehended in the first month of the year alone.

Sources said, Bangladeshi nationals - who are living illegally in the country without any documents - &nbsp;fear that they may face action and are therefore compelled to flee to their country.

While the officials claimed that the numbers were substantially low, but sources in other frontiers of BSF like North Bengal Frontier and Guwahati also accounted for an increase in the outflow of Bangladeshi migrants after the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Figures released by South Bengal Frontier of BSF showed that a total of 308 persons were apprehended in the month of January, this year. As many as 29 persons were Indians, 268 persons were Bangladeshis and 11 persons were from Myanmar and Nigeria.

The official communication also says that 15 more companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will reach Uttar Pradesh on November 11 to stay till November 18.

The central government has also granted an extension of stay till November 18 to ten companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) which are already deployed in Uttar Pradesh.

"Total 40 companies which include 16 companies of RAF and six companies each of CISF, ITBP, SSB and BSF will be deployed in Uttar Pradesh till November 18," an official communication said.

These paramilitary companies will be deployed in 12 most sensitive districts and cities of the state.

Apart from Varanasi and Ayodhya paramilitary forces will be deployed in Kanpur, Aligarh, Lucknow, Azamgarh etc to maintain law and order situation and ensure normalcy during and after the Ayodhya verdict.

The local administration has been asked to make arrangements for the deployment of security force personnel.

The central government is aware that even the smallest of security-related incidents could spark reactions in other states hence there is close coordination between top security departments of both the centre and UP.

Strict instructions have been given right down to the police station level that no breach of government directives on security must be tolerated.

Border Security Force (BSF`s) pilot Wing Commander (retd) JS Sangwan, who is facing criminal charges for impersonating his senior to fly the incumbent Union Home Minister Amit Shah`s plane, has tendered resignation from the services.

Sources in the BSF said that Sangwan had filed his resignation in the first week of September which cannot be accepted as he has a pending, ongoing departmental enquiry against him.

"Till the time his enquiry is pending, the decision on his resignation cannot be taken," a senior BSF official said.

"The accused pilot had asked few questions which have been addressed appropriately by BSF," another BSF official claimed.

Sangwan, who was posted in the BSF air wing is a Kargil war veteran.

Sources in BSF claimed that accused pilot has submitted a petition seeking voluntary resignation from the services with effect from October 31.

He had sent the petition twice, first on September 2 and then on September 16.

According to reports, throughout June and July, engineering and construction firm Larsen and Toubro (L&amp;T) received a series of emails from the BSF Air Wing, which flies Shah, requesting Sangwan be given a chance to fly L&amp;T flights.

According to the complaint against Sangwan, the emails claimed that the pilot had nearly 4000 hours of flying experience.

The fraud unfolded when L&amp;T contacted BSF a couple of days before he was scheduled to fly aboard with Shah.

A complaint in the matter was handed over in this regard to the Domestic Airport police station which is under investigation while an internal enquiry was also launched by the BSF.&nbsp;

Border Security Force (BSF`s) pilot Wing Commander (retd) JS Sangwan, who is facing criminal charges for impersonating his senior to fly the incumbent Union Home Minister Amit Shah`s plane, has tendered resignation from the services. Sources in the BSF said that Sangwan had filed his resignation in the first week of September which cannot be accepted as he has a pending, ongoing departmental enquiry against him. "Till the time his enquiry is pending, the decision on his resignation cannot be taken," a senior BSF official said. "The accused pilot had asked few questions which have been addressed appropriately by BSF," another BSF official claimed. Sangwan, who was posted in the BSF air wing is a Kargil war veteran. Sources in BSF claimed that accused pilot has submitted a petition seeking voluntary resignation from the services with effect from October 31. He had sent the petition twice, first on September 2 and then on September 16. According to reports, throughout June and July, engineering and construction firm Larsen and Toubro (L&T) received a series of emails from the BSF Air Wing, which flies Shah, requesting Sangwan be given a chance to fly L&T flights. According to the complaint against Sangwan, the emails claimed that the pilot had nearly 4000 hours of flying experience. The fraud unfolded when L&T contacted BSF a couple of days before he was scheduled to fly aboard with Shah. A complaint in the matter was handed over in this regard to the Domestic Airport police station which is under investigation while an internal enquiry was also launched by the BSF.

The 50-year-old male was spotted in the alignment of Boundary Pillar 1050.

When asked about a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber ramming an SUV carrying over 100 kgs of explosives into the bus of the CRPF jawans in Pulwama, Sharma said a new method was used in that incident. "To deal with it, adequate measures are being taken with new thinking so that such an incident doesn't occur again," he added.

Meanwhile, teams from BSF's 11 frontiers took part in the competition in which Rajasthan Frontier emerged as the overall champion.

For the first time in the history of BSF, women personnel also took part.

Sharma said the role of women in BSF is growing.

"BSF's women personnel are discharging their duties efficiently. They have been trained to use modern weapons effectively against country's enemies on frontiers," Sharma added.

Assistant Commandant Vinay Prasad was critically injured in the sniper fire and the officer was rushed to the Military Hospital at Satwari (Jammu), where he succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom, he said.

According to an official statement, this year, the BSF has seized 221.3 kg of heroin (including today`s seizure) on the Punjab Border and 435 grams of opium while 66 people have been held for illegally crossing the border and five smugglers have been apprehended.

"As many as 31 Pakistani SIM cards were recovered by the BSF, while five two Pakistani smugglers were apprehended. Furthermore, two Pakistani smugglers were interdicted. Apart from this, 10 mobile phones from Pakistan were seized," the statement further said.&nbsp;

Around 19 different types of weapons have been seized, while 502 rounds of ammunition of various calibres have been recovered by the BSF so far.&nbsp;

'Shastra puja' is part of the Dussehra festival which is celebrated to mark the victory of Lord Ram over the demon king Ravana.

Addressing the BSF personnel, the home minister praised the multi-dimensional role of the BSF in guarding the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders, maintaining law and order in internal disturbances and tackling the Left Wing Extremism.

Referring to the regular firing from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh said Pakistan, despite being a neighbour, never exercised good neighbourly behaviour and instead sponsoring terrorism.

The home minister said that recently launched 'smart fence' pilot project, which entails deploying laser-activated fences and technology-enabled barriers to plug vulnerable gaps along borders, will help the border guarding forces in maintaining peace in forward areas.

The project was launched along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir while it will be implemented along the Indo-Bangla border in Dhubri, Assam, next month, Singh said.

During the two-day visit, the home minister interacted with the family members of the BSF personnel and attended a feast with the jawans, another official said.

Singh also visited the family of a BSF jawan, who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir, and enquired about their wellbeing.

Later, the home minister reviewed the situation on the border and assessed the progress in various infrastructure projects.

The 3,323-km-long Indo-Pak border is considered to be highly sensitive.

Even though the border in Rajasthan is peaceful, the border guarding forces of the two countries often engaged in massive firing in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to loss of human lives and properties.

Terrorists open fire on police officer in Shopian

Four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Chambliyal sector of Samba in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Among the deceased were two BSF jawans, one Assistant Commandant and one Sub-Inspector, who were killed during the shelling while they were out and retaliating.

Earlier in May, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had spoken to each other on the issue of ceasefire violations and terrorist activities and agreed to fully implement the ceasefire understanding of 2003, to ensure that ceasefire will not be violated by both sides.

Both the DGMOs had reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control and International Boundary in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement.

In a tweet, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid expressed his condolence over the incident.

Both the DGMOs had reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control and International Boundary in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement.

Four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Chambliyal sector of Samba in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Among the deceased were two BSF jawans, one Assistant Commandant and one Sub-Inspector, who were killed during the shelling while they were out and retaliating. Earlier in May, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had spoken to each other on the issue of ceasefire violations and terrorist activities and agreed to fully implement the ceasefire understanding of 2003, to ensure that ceasefire will not be violated by both sides. Both the DGMOs had reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control and International Boundary in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement. Jammu and Kashmir: 4 BSF personnel killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan

Home Minister <a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/after-cross-border-firing-rajnath-singh-to-visit-jk-to-review-security-142058">Rajnath Singh will be visiting</a> Jammu and Kashmir(J&K) just days after his previous visit as the government keeps a close eye on the security situation in the state.

The home minister will be accompanied by Union home secretary, joint secretary(J&K) and Minister of State(MoS) in Prime Minister's Office(PMO) Jitendra Singh.

The minister will also meet J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and review security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.

Rajnath Singh will stay in J&K for two days as he reviews the situation in the state.

India's home minister said he was "looking forward to interact with the youth and people living in border areas" including other sections of the society.

Last week the home minister had visited J&K as Pakistan troops opened fire in the Akhnoor, Kanachak and Khour sectors.

Although India and Pakistan DGMOs had agreed on the 2003 ceasefire agreement but there has been incessant firing along the Line of Control(LoC). The firing had led to the death of 2 BSF personnel.

Ceasefire review: Rajnath Singh to visit J&K again to meet people living in border areas

Reiterating&nbsp;foreign minister Sushma Swaraj's view, defence minister <a href="Commanders of BSF, Pakistan Rangers meet, say peace along border 'likely'">Nirmala Sitharaman said today</a> that talks and terror can't go together, in reference to cross-border terror attacks.

Addressing a press conference, Sitharam said the government had consulted with the Indian Army about the ceasefire.

India had announced a ceasefire in J&K over Ramzan, a move which was applauded by the Mehbooba government.

"We respect the ceasefire," Sitharaman said, adding that India "won't stop if provoked."

India and Pakistan troops exchanged fire on Sunday leading to the death of 2 BSF soldiers on Sunday after agreeing to the 2003 ceasefire agreement.

"We will respond if Pakistan does not honour the ceasefire," the defence minister&nbsp;added.

On the state of India's defence forces,&nbsp;Sitharaman said maximum defence spending in a decade had happened last year.

"There is no real cash crush for the forces," she said.
