England would soon remove a statue of Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the worldwide scouting movement, the latest memorial to be taken down in the wake of anti-racism protests sparked by the death of George Floyd.

The demonstrations sweeping across the United States and Europe have reignited a debate about monuments to those involved in Britain's imperialist past.

Poole council said the statue of Baden-Powell, a British Boer War hero, would be moved from its location on the quay of the seaside town to storage on Thursday while there were discussions with local communities about its future.

Baden-Powell is widely hailed for setting up the scout movement which boasts 54 million members worldwide. In a poll in 2007, he was voted the 13th most influential person in the United Kingdom in the 20th century. But critics say he held racist views and was a supporter of Adolf Hitler and fascism.

His statue, which was erected just over a decade ago, currently looks across the harbour to Brownsea Island where he started the scout movement in 1907.

A spokesman for the Scouts said the organisation was looking forward to discussing the matter with the council "to make an informed decision on what happens next".

"The Scout movement is resolute in its commitment to inclusion and diversity and members continually reflect and challenge ourselves in how we live our values," he said.

On Sunday, protesters in Bristol, western England, pulled down a statue of 17th Century slave trader Edward Colston and threw it into the harbour. It was retrieved on Thursday and the local council said it would be displayed in a museum.

Other memorials have also since been removed and councils run by the opposition Labour Party said they would review the "appropriateness of local monuments and statues" on public land.

A graduate from Drake University in Iowa, Kennedy Mitchum contacted the dictionary makers to improve its definition of racism.

"I basically told them that they need to include that there's a systematic oppression upon a group of people," she told a local news outlet. "It's not just, 'Oh, I don't like someone.'"

The House Judiciary Committee's top Republican, Jim Jordan, acknowledged that it was "time for a real discussion" about police treatment of African Americans, in the latest sign that Republicans also want to make changes to the system.

"It's as wrong as wrong can be," Jordan told Philonise Floyd about George Floyd's death, "and your brother's killers will face justice."

However, most modern radio systems used by emergency services have defences against such jamming, says Professor Alan Woodward, a cyber security expert at Surrey University.

"In any event, even if you were attempting to scan police radios in order to jam them using a mobile phone, which is what the man appeared to be holding, this is not the equipment you would use. You would need much more sophisticated scanning equipment.

"In terms of interfering with police communications frequencies, mobile phones simply don't have components that work at those frequencies," he adds.

Twitter,&nbsp;which has censored previous tweets by the president, said this tweet did not violate its rules.

Bristol mayor Marvin Rees said Colston's statue would be retrieved and displayed alongside Black Lives Matter placards from the recent protest so the 300 year story of slavery and the fight for racial equality could be better understood.

The pulling down of Colston's figure was followed by a statue of Robert Milligan, an 18th century slave trader, being removed from its plinth outside a London museum on Tuesday after officials decided it was no longer acceptable to the local community.

Calling for the Department of General Services to remove the towering statue of Lee, Governor Northam acknowledged the move could stir anger among admirers of the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.

Virginia judge blocks governor's demand to pull down Confederate statue

Derek Chauvin, the 44-year-old police officer who knelt on Floyd was charged with second and third-degree murder, with his previous bail set at $1 million. However, on Tuesday, the bail was raised by $250,000 to $1.25 million.

The officer from Minneapolis appeared in front of the court via video call and was seen in an orange jumpsuit with handcuffs.

In the video that went viral after Floyd’s death, the officer was seen kneeling on the man for almost nine minutes, even when he was repeatedly telling the officer about his inability to breathe. It was only when the ambulance arrived that the officer retracted his knee from the neck. An hour later, Floyd was dead.

Fans of the popular South Korean boy band BTS matched its $1 million donation to Black Lives Matter (BLM) in support of U.S. protests against police brutality, an organisation that runs fundraisers for the fans said on Monday. 
 
The K-pop group`s music label, Big Hit Entertainment, on Sunday told Reuters that <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bts-and-big-hit-entertainment-donate-1-million-to-black-lives-matter-protest-303976">BTS had donated $1 million</a> to BLM in early June. 
 
The seven-member BTS wrote on its Twitter account on Thursday that they are against racism and violence with the hashtag BlackLivesMatter. 
 
"We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together." 
 
The hashtag went viral among the group`s fans and started another wave of donations with the hashtag MatchAMillion. 
The movement encouraged BTS` fan base, known as ARMY, an acronym for Adorable Representative MC for Youth, to match the group`s $1 million donation. 
 
On Monday, One In An ARMY (OIAA), a group that runs donation campaigns in the name of the BTS fan base, in a statement said the live donation total surpassed $817,000 within 24 hours after BTS` donation was reported. 
"We`re so proud that ARMY have once again channelled their power for good and are making a real impact in the fight against anti-black racism," OIAA said. 
 
"We stand in solidarity with black ARMY. They`re an important part of our family. And we stand with black people everywhere. Your voices deserve to be heard." 
 
The campaign had raised $1,007,518 as of Monday at 9:47 a.m. (0047 GMT), and will continue indefinitely, the organisers said.

In 1619, Britain sent its first batch of black slaves to America, and now after a little over 400 years, George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, US.&nbsp;

This was not the first black national who lost his life in the US because of police brutality, but his killing has triggered a mass movement against racism.&nbsp;

From London to Bristol, Manchester to Nottingham, everybody in the chorus is saying "enough is enough". The Black Lives Matter campaign gathered thousands in London, where some protesters also clashed with police. Eight policemen were injured and 12 people got arrested. People also protested outside the US Embassy, where they demanded justice for Floyd, with some even chanting 'the UK is not innocent'. This argument is not wrong as at least 70 per cent ethnic minority workers in the UK say that they have encountered harassment at work, according to a survey on racism at workplace. As many as 60% say that they have been treated unfairly by their employers. The UK's situation on racism is no great, on the contrary, worse. In Westminster, thousands have been protesting against Britain's colonial legacy and on Sunday the protesters defaced the memorial of UK's wartime prime minister Winston Churchill. Activists surrounded the monument and chanted: 'Churchill was a racist' and sprayed these remarks below Churchill's statue. Dispersal orders were issued in the city after protesters threw bottles at police officers and by Sunday evening cops in riot gear took position across Westminster. In Warwickshire county, protesters closed a highway. Demonstrators brought down a statue of 17th-century slave trader Edward Colston in Bristol. People celebrated by cheering and kneeling on the statue. The statue was rolled through the streets before it found its way in the water. UK's Home Secretary Priti Patel called the act "utterly disgraceful". UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that people have the right to protest peacefully but those responsible for violence will be held accountable. The moral of the story is you reap what you sow.
