Rajinikanth seeks blessings at Badrinath temple after Jailer’s success

<p>Heavy rainfall in the Indian state of Uttarakhand has triggered a massive landslide in the Chamoli district which resulted in the partial destruction of a crucial section of National Highway 7 leading to Badrinath, a key pilgrimage site in the country.&nbsp;The affected area near Chhinka village has left tourists stranded. The debris has also obstructed the route to the holy site of Badrinath.</p>

<p>Flash floods and landslides also hit the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh a few days ago. Massive landslides blocked the Mandi-Kullu national highway in Himachal Pradesh, which had left around 200 individuals, mainly tourists, stranded for hours&nbsp;in a 15-kilometre-long traffic jam.</p>

<h2><strong>Casualties&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>According to a report from news agency PTI, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed 19 deaths, with 34 people sustaining injuries, and three individuals reported missing due to rain-related incidents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At Badrinath, as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus, the railings of the complex were covered with a cloth. Also, before entering the premises of the shrine, the devotees were screened for coronavirus symptoms by the doctors.</p>

<p>"We were able to offer prayers to the lord easily this year as there is no rush," one of the devotees told ANI.</p>

<p>The media in-charge of Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Board said that the staff officers of the Devasthanam Board had reached Badrinath Dham for preparations.</p>

<p>Raman Ravinath, the Garhwal Commissioner and CEO of Devasthanam Board, had ordered the preparations.</p>

<p>The Chardham Yatra is expected to begin soon after the nationwide lockdown ends.The portals of Shri Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham`s were opened on Akshaya Tritiya on April 26 and the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham were opened on April 29.</p>

<p>According to a government advisory, pilgrims are not allowed to visit these religious places in view of the coronavirus outbreak.&nbsp;</p>

The media in-charge of Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Board said that the staff officers of the Devasthanam Board had reached Badrinath Dham for preparations. Raman Ravinath, the Garhwal Commissioner and CEO of Devasthanam Board, had ordered the preparations. The Chardham Yatra is expected to begin soon after the nationwide lockdown ends.The portals of Shri Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham`s were opened on Akshaya Tritiya on April 26 and the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham were opened on April 29. <p>Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat over the phone to take a stock of the situation and offered all help in case of an emergency.</p>
