Fast bowler Ben Lister, however, has been added in the New Zealand squad for the remainder of the England series. Speaking on the injury, New Zealand coach Gary Stead said: "We have short turnarounds between these matches and want to try and look after the players as much as possible with the upcoming schedule.

"With Ben already here in England, it meant we could have him join the squad at short notice without the recovery time of a bowler joining from New Zealand mid-series. Ben impressed us in the UAE and [in the] warm-up matches in England, and will continue to learn being around some senior players in the touring group," he added.

Notably, Lister was expected to play for Kent in County Championship. The pacer had made his international debut against Pakistan earlier this year but has not been included for the upcoming Bangladesh tour.

Adam was very up front with us about his concerns around the lack of one-day bowling loading for the upcoming tours,” Larsen said in a New Zealand Cricket statement.

“After chatting to him, we agreed his preparation leading into the tour wouldn't be sufficient for him to cope with the demands of back-to-back, three-game ODI series. We appreciate his honesty and his genuine desire not to let the team down,” Larsen added.

Talking about Milne’s replacement Tickner, who has played six ODIs so far, Larsen said Blair is someone who call bowl well in the middle overs, and with his ability to hit the deck hard, it makes him a similar prospect to that of Milne.

“Blair's skills at bowling through the middle and his ability to hit the pitch hard make him a similar prospect to what Adam offered us. The fact he's already in Pakistan experiencing the conditions is an added bonus,” Larsen said.

While the ODI series against New Zealand will begin on January 9th, India’s white-ball tour will kick-start on January 18th.

IPL 2022: Sri Lanka's Matheesha Pathirana joins Chennai Super Kings as replacement for Adam Milne

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be aiming to bring an end to their losing streak and bag their first win of the season when they lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The match will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.&nbsp; Defending champions CSK have endured their worst start to a season having lost their first two matches in a row.

The Ravindra Jadeja-led side lost their first game against Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets before slipping to another six-wicket loss against Lucknow Super Giants in their last game. The absence of pacer Deepak Chahar has hurt CSK this season as their bowlers have been taken to the cleaners in the first two games.

While Chahar continues his recovery and is expected to join the team later this month, CSK also missed the services of both Adam Milne and Chris Jordan for their last game against Lucknow. Milne suffered a side strain during CSK's opener against KKR while Jordan was hospitalised due to tonsils.

Milne is unlikely to make the cut against Punjab Kings but Jordan might feature in the playing XI after the likes of Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Chaudhary were taken to the cleaners in the last game against Lucknow. CSK will retain the overseas trio of Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Pretorious and Moeen Ali from the Lucknow game and might play an extra pacer in Jordan.

The Jadeja-led side has also struggled to get off to good starts in the tournament so far as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is yet to fire with the bat. While Robin Uthappa has looked in good touch both as an opener and at no.3, Gaikwad is yet to get going for CSK and will be hopeful of finding his mojo back against Punjab Kings on Sunday.

While Fleming admitted the franchise was sad about losing a couple of old players who they would have liked having back, the CSK head coach said the squad has a great mix of youth and experience. CSK had tried to get back both Faf du Plessis and Shardul Thakur but ended up missing out on their services at the mega auction.

"We are really happy it went according to plan. We lost a couple of players which we are a bit sad about but we have gained some real talent. We've got, this year, some good blend of experience and youth. So we're really excited about the way the auction went down," Fleming said speaking about CSK's auction in a video shared by the franchise.

CSK managed to rope in some quality overseas players at nominal prices at the mega auction in the form of the Kiwi trio of Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway and Adam Milne. While all-rounder Santner and fast bowler Milne were&nbsp;bought for Rs 1.9 crore (INR 19 million) each, Conway was a steal for CSK at Rs 1 crore (INR 10 million).

Speaking about the Kiwi trio, Fleming said CSK got them for cheap at the mega auction and that they are all quality players, who can impress for the team this season.

“Well, they came cheap so it was good. They are all very skilful players. Devon Conway has had a great couple of years internationally. Mitch has been a stalwart for us. And in Adam Milne, we have got a bit of pace. So all three of them have great credentials and a good skill set for us,” said the CSK head coach.

England will be formidable Twenty20 World Cup opponents even in the absence of injured opener Jason Roy, New Zealand bowler Adam Milne said on Sunday after his team reached the semi-finals.

New Zealand are likely to face England, who he described as "world class", in the first semi in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday in what would be a rematch of the 2019 one-day World Cup final.

Roy retired hurt with a calf injury in England's 10-run loss to South Africa on Saturday and the 2010 champions continue to fret on&nbsp;the opener`s availability for the knockout matches.

"I think when you look at the England order, they`ve got guys that can easily slot in to open," Milne said after New Zealand despatched Afghanistan&nbsp;in their final Super 12 match in Abu Dhabi.

"Obviously, they`re a world-class team that`s sort of proven over the last few years that in white-ball competitions they`re extremely strong," the 29-year-old said.

"They've got a powerful batting order and a very skilled bowling group. We know it`s going to be a real tough challenge.

"But saying that, we`ve also got a really good group with some really skilled bowlers, seamers and spinners and a really good batting group. We`re confident we can go out and beat anyone in this tournament."
