According to the district education officer, the students competed to see who could take more supplements. According to reports, Fathima consumed roughly 45 pills, while the three other girls and two boys who were with her consumed at least 10 pills each.

Some of the students felt dizzy and were taken to the Udhagamandalam Government Hospital before being sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH). According to CMCH administration, Fathima was sent to Stanley Medical College in Chennai after it was determined that she had sustained serious liver damage and required a liver transplant right away.

She was transported to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College in Salem, but her health deteriorated there&nbsp;and she was pronounced dead.

Q. Firstly, What is the difference between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest?

A. A heart attack also known as Myocardial Infarction occurs when one of the blood vessels (called coronary artery in medical terms) carrying blood to the heart muscle gets suddenly blocked completely.

As we age, the blood vessels on their inner side develop deposits called “plaque.” These plaques are rich in cholesterol and other substances (notorious to promote clotting when exposed to circulating blood) and are covered by a cap. The plaque&nbsp;gradually increases in size and encroaches on the vessel lumen (the inside space of a tubular structure). This process is accelerated by risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, deranged lipids, smoking etc.

These risk factors are also associated with a high risk of a phenomenon called “plaque rupture” in which disruption of the cap leads to the plaque material getting exposed to the blood flowing in the vessel.

This sets into motion a rapid sequence of events which result in the formation of a clot at the site of rupture resulting in a complete blockade of blood flow beyond that point.

Since the blood and oxygen supply is cut off, the muscle cells of the heart begin to suffer damage and start to die. Irreversible damage begins within 30 minutes of blockage.

Prompt recognition of the problem and early aggressive measures to restore blood flow in the occluded vessel help prevent muscle damage. This forms the basis of the popular saying in cardiology that states “Time is Muscle”- the faster you move the more muscle you can save.

Since the 2020 Galwan incident, ties between the two countries continue to go southwards. Last December also, forces of the two countries clashed in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang after the Chinese side tried to intrude.

The US report, released on 8th March, warned that the "previous standoffs have demonstrated that persistent low-level friction on the Line of Actual Control has the potential to escalate swiftly."

The report also talked about India-Pakistan ties, and while pointing out that "Pakistan has a long history of supporting anti-India militant groups'', it highlighted that "under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is more likely than in the past to respond with military force to perceived or real Pakistani provocations."

An Air India crew member was detained in Kerala,&nbsp;for attempting to smuggle gold.&nbsp;Shafi Sharaf, a&nbsp;Wayanad native, had 1,487 gm of gold paste wrapped around his forearms. He intended to enter the green customs clearing lane, which is for travellers without any dutiable goods to report while hiding the gold in his shirt sleeves, as reported by ANI.&nbsp;

The Customs Preventive Commissionerate, however, received confidential information that the Air India cabin crew member of the Bahrain-Kozhikode-Kochi service was carrying gold.

Based on the tip, Sharaf was detained at Kochi Airport. He had wrapped the gold paste over his arms, as seen in a picture released by ANI.

The accused landed in Kochi from Bahrain at approximately 8.30 p.m., according to Jagran News. Less than two hours later, at about 10.20 pm, he was taken into custody by the customs preventive wing.

Earlier, gold bars valued at Rs 3.32 crore (INR 33.2 million) were seized at Chennai International Airport from two passengers, one of whom was a citizen of Sri Lanka, who were detained by the customs officials.

Acting on specific information, the authorities detained two travellers who landed in Chennai from Singapore on Tuesday. They found 68 gold bars&nbsp;weighing 6.8 kg&nbsp;hidden in their luggage.

On Thursday, Albanese and Indian Prime Minister Modi will arrive at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad to watch the first-day play of the fourth Test between Australia and India. Later in the day, Albanese will leave for Mumbai. On Friday, he will be in New Delhi to take part in the Ceremonial Reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan which will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat, the news agency ANI reported.&nbsp;

The first in-person India-Australia Annual Summit will take place during Albanese's four-day visit to India. At the annual summit, the leaders will take stock of progress made on various initiatives under the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, ANI reported.

PM Anthony Albanese announces education recognition mechanism, Indian degrees to be recognised in Australia

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has chosen Group Captain Shaliza Dhami, a helicopter pilot, to assume the leadership of a missile squadron in the western sector, IAF officials announced on Tuesday (March 7). This would be the first time a woman officer of the IAF will be in control of a frontline combat unit.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the officials said that Dhami, who was commissioned into the IAF in 2003, is a qualified flight instructor and has spent more than 2,800 hours in the air.

The change occurs at a time when the military services are expanding women's horizons and providing them with possibilities on par with those available to males.

“Having been commended by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief on two occasions, the officer is presently posted in the operations branch of a frontline Command Headquarters” said one of the officials as quoted by the Hindustan Times.&nbsp;

“This is yet another milestone for women officers in combat and command appointments. Air defence units, such as the one that the lady officer is set to lead, are a critical operational asset of the armed forces,” said Air Marshal Anil Chopra (retd), director general, Centre for Air Power Studies.

In an effort to promote gender equality within their ranks, the IAF and navy have also let women officers join their special forces units—the Garud Commando Force and Marine Commandos, respectively—so long as they match the eligibility requirements.

The army began appointing female officers to command positions outside the medical stream in February, and about 50 of them are slated to lead units in operational settings, including forward locations, under the Northern and Eastern Commands, which are in charge of securing China's borders with India.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the officials said that Dhami, who was commissioned into the IAF in 2003, is a qualified flight instructor and has spent more than 2,800 hours in the air. The change occurs at a time when the military services are expanding women's horizons and providing them with possibilities on par with those available to males. “Having been commended by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief on two occasions, the officer is presently posted in the operations branch of a frontline Command Headquarters” said one of the officials as quoted by the Hindustan Times. Air defence units, such as the one that the lady officer is set to lead, are a critical operational asset of the armed forces,” said Air Marshal Anil Chopra (retd), director general, Centre for Air Power Studies. In an effort to promote gender equality within their ranks, the IAF and navy have also let women officers join their special forces units—the Garud Commando Force and Marine Commandos, respectively—so long as they match the eligibility requirements.
