Garcetti, who is a close aide of US President Joe Biden, was surrounded by controversy over allegations that he allegedly sexually harassed and bullied one of his former top aides. In view of this, a number of Senate Democrats had voiced their worries about his candidature.

Biden showed his intent to nominate the former mayor of Los Angeles for the renowned diplomatic position in July 2021. However, his candidature has been pending before the US Congress since then. The voting was done on the cloture motion limiting debate on his nomination.

A former communication’s director for Garcetti, Naomi Seligman, who has accused Garcetti of sexual harassment during his time in office told CNN, “He is unfit to become an ambassador or really to hold public office anywhere in this country or this world."

Kenneth Juster, the last US ambassador in New Delhi stepped down as the US changed governments in January 2021.&nbsp;

With the latest factory in Chennai setup at an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore&nbsp;($20 million) and the pre-existing factory in Pune, the firm looks to significantly scale up their manufacturing in India. The annual production will be scaled up to 1,20,000 AC drives and more than 2,00,000 PCBs.&nbsp;

Kentaro Yamaguchi, Head, Automation at Fuji Electric told WION that the automated equipment being used in India for surface mounting (placing small electronic components) on PCBs is the most sophisticated of its class. He said that even the Japanese factories of Fuji Electric did not have such advanced machines that can perform the surface mounting in a nearly 100% automated manner and in just a few seconds of time.&nbsp;

The company is also looking at generating a total of Rs 1500 crore in annual revenue in India by 2025. For financial year 2022-23, the officials revealed that their firm has already surpassed Rs 1,000 crore.&nbsp;

On their future plans, the company said that they would need to further expand their India operations in the next four years, if they are to surpass Rs.1500 crore in revenue. That scaling up would mean a further investment in India of Rs 400 crore or $50 million for a much larger factory.

Queried about the quality standards of their Indian-made products over the Japanese ones, Shivaji Waghmare, CEO, told WION that the quality was no different from the Japanese-made ones. "We use the same machines, same processes as in Japan and it is also setup by the Japanese teams. In fact, the machines that are in use in the latest factory in India are much more advanced than those in Japan", he added.

The SCO is made up of eight member countries, namely Russia, India, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, covering over 60% of the Eurasian landmass, 40% of the world population, and 30% of the global GDP. The organisation aims to promote economic, political, and military cooperation among its members, and with Iran becoming a full-fledged member under Indian Presidency, the SCO's strategic significance has grown even more.&nbsp;

India will hold various meetings of the grouping this year, including the summit on June 25, and the foreign ministers meeting on 4-5 May in Goa, for which invitations have already been sent. In July, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi is expected to attend the summit in Delhi as his country becomes a member of the mega grouping.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi&nbsp;met with Pekka Lundmark, the CEO&nbsp;of Nokia,&nbsp; and discussed India's advancements in creating&nbsp;next-generation digital infrastructure. In a tweet, PM Modi said that it was a ‘fruitful’ meeting with the Nokia CEO pertaining to technology.&nbsp;

“A fruitful meeting with Mr.@PekkaLundmark in which we discussed aspects relating to technology and leveraging it for the welfare of society. We also discussed India’s strides in building next-generation digital infrastructure," Modi tweeted.

Hassan District Health Officer (DHO) told PTI, "It is confirmed that Hire Gowda, 82, son of Halage Gowda, died of H3N2 virus on March 1."&nbsp;The other death was reported from the Indian state of Haryana of a 56-year-old lung cancer patient, as per the news agency.&nbsp;

As per the data by Indian Health Ministry on Friday, a total of 451 cases were recorded of the H3N2 virus in India between 2 January and 5 March.&nbsp;

Dr Dhiren Gupta, a Senior Consultant at Sir Gangaram hospital in Delhi, said "Over the past 6 months pattern of viruses has changed remarkably and unexpectedly. Normally, we expect influenza to be the number 1 virus that can lead to hospitalisation. This time Influenza A virus subtype H3N2 has led to a lot of respiratory tract infections," as quoted by news agency ANI.&nbsp;

He added, "Another observation- type B influenza (past two months 5 leading to PICU admission) has led to more severe pulmonary infections in form of ARDS, severe pneumonia requiring ventilation."&nbsp;

Poor air quality for the last three months has been a cause of concern for citizens living in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. Its civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has blamed construction activity as the major cause for the rising bad air quality in the city.

To suggest dust control measures, BMC has formed a seven-member committee under the chairmanship of Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Sanjeev Kumar. As per the directions given by Municipal Commissioner I S Chahal, the panel shall submit a report within seven days.

“There are around 5,000 sites where construction work is going on currently. The air quality in Mumbai region including the city is currently bad due to changes in the wind speed conditions combined with dust arising from various development and construction works, which are going on a large scale. In view of this, dust is the main factor responsible for air pollution,” said a senior BMC official.
