Self-proclaimed godman and fugitive Kailasa Nithyananda's ‘United States of Kailasa’ has inked&nbsp;a "cultural partnership" with over 30 American cities, a media report has said, days after the city of Newark in the US state of New Jersey said it revoked a "sister-city" agreement with the fictional country.

On January 12, Newark and the fictitious ‘United States of Kailasa’ signed a sister-city agreement. The signing ceremony took held in Newark City Hall, as per an NDTV report.

Nityananda claims to have established a nation called the ‘United States of Kailasa’ in 2019 in his mind-bending spiritual homilies that are coated with a sheen of pseudo-science.

According to its website, there are over 30 American communities that have inked a cultural alliance with the fictitious nation of Kailasa —&nbsp;places from Richmond, Virginia to Dayton, Ohio, to Buena Park, Florida practically all over the map, according to a Fox news report on Thursday.

The report said, "We are finding out the supreme fake pontiff&nbsp;has a long list of cities he has duped."

The statement claimed that it had contacted a few American cities to get their opinions on the signing of an agreement with the fictitious country.

"And so far most of the cities have confirmed these proclamations are in fact true," the report said, adding, "Our proclamations with Kailasa are not an endorsement. They are a response to a request and we do not verify the information that is requested." 
 
Fox News blamed the cities for not "googling" for information about the fake nation.&nbsp;

"If someone wants a proclamation, someone gets a proclamation. They'll just say you're an exotic Hindu Island and they'll name a street after you," the Fox News anchor said.

The report also stated that those controlling the federal government were&nbsp;also duped by the fictitious country, in addition to mayors and local councils.

Moreover, USK representatives even participated in two UN public meetings held in Geneva last month. On February 22, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) hosted a general discussion on "Equal and inclusive representation of women in decision-making systems," and on February 24, the Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights hosted a general discussion on the General Comment on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights and Sustainable Development (CESCR).

The Mall of Srinagar and allied projects with the government in Dubai are expected to fuel the economic growth of J&amp;K and help achieve the shared vision of strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties between India and UAE.

The mega-mall is the first significant FDI investment in Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate marquee projects as per the MoU signed between the governments of the UAE and India. Launched by Emaar and Magna Waves Buildtech, the mall is set to become operational by 2026.

Every day, eight companies have expressed their willingness to invest in J&amp;K. A new industry is becoming operational in the UT every day. Last month, 45 industries started their operations,"&nbsp;said the Lt Governor.&nbsp;

In January 2022, during the investor meet at Dubai, J&amp;K Government entered into a bilateral agreement with various stakeholders and Government of UAE to deliver over a billion dollars' worth of projects in the valley. These projects include the development of industrial parks, a medical college, a specialty hospital, logistics centres, IT towers, and multipurpose towers, in addition to the Mall of Srinagar by Emaar.

It seemed like the words of this melodious song found themselves being capable of an embodiment when a leopard crossed the India-Pakistan international border on Saturday.&nbsp;

At about 7 pm on Saturday, a leopard was seen crossing the international border from the Pakistani side into Indian territory in the Ramgarh Sub Sector of Samba district, reported ANI news agency citing the Border Security Force.&nbsp;

There are so many global challenges, like the worst pandemic in the last 100 years, two countries in conflict for months where the supply chain is now disrupted across the globe. Under these circumstances, the talk of The India moment is not something common."&nbsp;&nbsp;

"This is a new history in making to which&nbsp;we all are contributors. The entire world is full of trust in India. India is the fastest-growing economy in the world. It is the number one smartphone data consumer in the world. India is number one in the global fintech adoption rate. India is the world's second-largest mobile manufacturer. world's third-largest startup ecosystem," Modi said at the Conclave.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Amid international difficulties, Modi asserted that India's banking system stood strong. "This is the power of India's institutions. That is why this success irks a few."&nbsp;

This pipeline, which is expected to cost Rs 377 crore, will be the first cross-border pipeline between the two nations. The sum of the costs includes the Rs 285 crore spent on paving the section on the Bangladeshi side, reported PTI.&nbsp;

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh&nbsp;Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the India-Bangladesh friendship pipeline on March 18 at 1700 hours (IST) via video-conference,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Friday.

“This is the first cross-border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh, built at an estimated cost of INR 377 crore (INR 3.77 billion), of which the Bangladesh portion of the pipeline built at a cost of approximately Rs 285 crore (INR 2.85 billion), has been borne by the Government of India under grant assistance,” it said in a statement.

According to the MEA, the pipeline has the ability to move 1 million MMTPA of high-speed diesel. It would initially provide high-speed diesel to seven districts in northern Bangladesh.

India's External Affairs Minister (EAM), Dr S Jaishankar, has reaffirmed India's support to Sri Lanka amid the economic crisis the country faces, stating "blood is thicker than water". India was the first country to give its approval for debt restructuring which paves way for an IMF bailout for the country.

"I can only say, it is very natural for India to step forward at this point," said EAM Jaishankar in the context of the economic challenges the country faces, explaining, that "blood is thicker than water. For us, it was natural at the moment of difficulty that we should see what we can do within our resources, within our capabilities, within our efforts, to stand by Sri Lanka in this very difficult time." The External Affairs Minister expressed his confidence in Sri Lanka's ability to overcome its current economic challenges with the help of its real friends, including India.

"I have always believed and said so both in Colombo and other places, that you will come through this challenge, but it is important to have your real friends standing by you at this time," he said. He was speaking at an exhibition on Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, marking the 75th anniversary of Indo-Lanka diplomatic relations. The exhibition, "Geoffrey Bawa: It is Essential to be There," featured over 120 documents from the Bawa archives, including a section on unbuilt work and Bawa’s own photographs from his travels.

Jaishankar went on to explain the cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka, including grants to promote Buddhist ties, heritage restoration of temples, and exchanges between the two countries. "Culture is one expression of our people-to-people exchanges," he said. The External Affairs Minister also spoke about how Indian and Sri Lankan societies have been "linked for millennia in a variety of ways, including language, faith, and customs."&nbsp;

He emphasized the importance of exhibitions like the one on Geoffrey Bawa, which promote a contemporary understanding of each other's societies and appreciation of iconic figures. "Even though we are two societies linked for a millennium in a variety of ways, such exhibitions promote a more contemporary understanding of each other's societies, and appreciation of iconic figures in our country is something that is particularly important," said Jaishankar.

Jaishankar also mentioned that Sri Lanka is an integral part of India's "neighbourhood first policy" and its "SAGAR policy." The former refers to India's focus on strengthening ties with its immediate neighbours, while the latter stands for Security And Growth for All in the Region. He highlighted that Sri Lanka is an important element of this policy due to its shared heritage and history with India.

"We are advancing, including flights between Chennai and Jaffna which have resumed, we are looking at more seamless travel between other forms between South India and Sri Lanka. For us, Sri Lanka is an essential partner in the region, and we will continue to stand by you in these difficult times", EAM Jaishankar said.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner Milinda Moragoda thanked the Indian external affairs minister for being present at the inauguration of the exhibition. He said, "it bears testimony to the strong civilization bond that unites our 2 countries. You are a true friend of India. We will not forget the unwavering support and assistance you have provided and continue to provide during some of the most challenging times we have faced in our post-independence history"

His work in India includes the Madurai Boys' Town and Club, Hotel Connemara Remodelling in Chennai, and the Hotel in Pondicherry. Amongst all of the world's nuclear powers — United States, Russia, China, India, Israel, United Kingdom, France, Pakistan, North Korea and NATO member nuclear weapons sharing states — India and China are the only two countries that maintain a 'No First Use' policy. That is, during an event of armed conflict, both New Delhi and Beijing have committed to not being the first nations to use nuclear weapons.&nbsp;

"It is possible to get a global agreement on No First Use of nuclear weapons," Harang said.

"Since India and China already have no first use policies in place. They need to be leaders now," Harang added on an optimistic note, while referring to 'many immediate threats' that the world is facing in relation to the ongoing expansion of nuclear threat.&nbsp;

<h2>Significance of Iran-Saudi deal for nuclear non-proliferation</h2>

With China at the centre of the geopolitical picture, Iran and Saudi Arabia on March 11, agreed to <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/iran-saudi-arabia-restore-ties-as-china-brokered-deal-outfoxes-west-570766">restore diplomatic ties</a> after their seven years of bilateral estrangement in West Asia. Harang hailed the development as a 'great victory' for the non-proliferation movement.&nbsp;

"But we should definitely not think of this restoration of ties as a closed case. There is a wider proliferation issue in the Middle East if Iran gets into a nuclear programme," Harang cautioned, while referring to potential nuclear flashpoints in West Asia polarised on Shia-Sunni lines.

"Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt and also possibly the (United Arab) Emirates are ready to develop nuclear weapons. Either that, or enter a US nuclear umbrella in case of an Iranian nuclear bomb. That dynamic is still there," Alexander Harang added. &nbsp;

<h2>The world in crisis mode; the rules of N-game are changing</h2>

Referring to Russia's exit from Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms, also known as the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/russia-to-halt-participation-in-new-start-nuclear-arms-treaty-564435">New START</a> Treaty, Harang said that the world is in "crisis mode".&nbsp;

"We are in the midst of quite many immediate threats," Harang told WION, while also emphasising on the current uproar in South Korea and past efforts by Brazil for armed nuclear self-sufficiency.

Harang believes that a global agreement on 'No First Use' by all nuclear-powered states would result in 'heightening the threshold for actually using the nuclear weapons', and will become an immediate deterrent measure against most immediate threats of a possible nuclear-armed escalation.&nbsp;

"A 'no first use' doctrine is what can cool the security apparatus down during an event of conflict. This is what can increase the strategic response time," Harang said while referring to the time a country gets during a conflict when it has to decide if it will respond to an attack with nuclear force or not.

But could a global agreement on 'no first use' be possible without the country with a reckless proliferation record coming on-board?&nbsp;

"Well, you don't start with Pakistan really?," Harang chuckled, and repeated, "You don't start with Pakistan. Not at this point."

"The fact that you have Highly Enriched Uranium reactors that are not easy to control when they are coming from a nuclear power to a non-nuclear power. So that is certainly an issue to be followed up," Professor Alexander Harang, Co-President of Oslo-headquartered International Peace and Understanding told WION, at the sidelines of India Centre Foundation's roundtable in New Delhi. India and China's 'No First Use' proliferation safeguard Amongst all of the world's nuclear powers — United States, Russia, China, India, Israel, United Kingdom, France, Pakistan, North Korea and NATO member nuclear weapons sharing states — India and China are the only two countries that maintain a 'No First Use' policy. That is, during an event of armed conflict, both New Delhi and Beijing have committed to not being the first nations to use nuclear weapons. "It is possible to get a global agreement on No First Use of nuclear weapons," Harang said. "Since India and China already have no first use policies in place. They need to be leaders now," Harang added on an optimistic note, while referring to 'many immediate threats' that the world is facing in relation to the ongoing expansion of nuclear threat. Significance of Iran-Saudi deal for nuclear non-proliferation With China at the centre of the geopolitical picture, Iran and Saudi Arabia on March 11, agreed to restore diplomatic ties after their seven years of bilateral estrangement in West Asia. Harang hailed the development as a 'great victory' for the non-proliferation movement. "But we should definitely not think of this restoration of ties as a closed case. There is a wider proliferation issue in the Middle East if Iran gets into a nuclear programme," Harang cautioned, while referring to potential nuclear flashpoints in West Asia polarised on Shia-Sunni lines. "Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt and also possibly the (United Arab) Emirates are ready to develop nuclear weapons. Either that, or enter a US nuclear umbrella in case of an Iranian nuclear bomb. That dynamic is still there," Alexander Harang added. The world in crisis mode; the rules of N-game are changing Referring to Russia's exit from Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms, also known as the New START Treaty, Harang said that the world is in "crisis mode". "We are in the midst of quite many immediate threats," Harang told WION, while also emphasising on the current uproar in South Korea and past efforts by Brazil for armed nuclear self-sufficiency. Harang believes that a global agreement on 'No First Use' by all nuclear-powered states would result in 'heightening the threshold for actually using the nuclear weapons', and will become an immediate deterrent measure against most immediate threats of a possible nuclear-armed escalation. "A 'no first use' doctrine is what can cool the security apparatus down during an event of conflict. This is what can increase the strategic response time," Harang said while referring to the time a country gets during a conflict when it has to decide if it will respond to an attack with nuclear force or not. But could a global agreement on 'no first use' be possible without the country with a reckless proliferation record coming on-board? "Well, you don't start with Pakistan really?," Harang chuckled, and repeated, "You don't start with Pakistan. Not at this point." Under this mechanism, authorised banks in India will open Special Rupee Vostro Accounts (SRVAs) of correspondent banks of Tanzania. Tanzanian banks will have to open Special Rupee Vostro Accounts in India by approaching authorised Indian banks, who will in turn approach RBI for their approval with details of the arrangement.&nbsp;

Bank of Baroda has received RBI's approval for opening SRVAs for its foreign branches and subsidiaries situated in various countries including Tanzania. This arrangement is now applicable to 18 countries which are, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Fiji, Germany, Guyana, Israel, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, New Zealand, Oman, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. &nbsp;

Indian importers will make payment in INR, which shall be credited into the Special Vostro account of the correspondent bank of the partner country, against the invoices for the supply of goods/services from the overseas seller/supplier. Indian exporters can be paid their export proceeds in INR from the balances in the designated Special Vostro account of the correspondent bank of the partner country.&nbsp;

The Indian high commission in Tanzania is organising a Stakeholders Consultation Meeting on 24th March 2023 where details about the bilateral trade mechanism using local currency and its benefits would be discussed. This move towards using national currencies for bilateral trade settlement is in line with the RBI’s objective of promoting the use of domestic currencies in cross-border transactions, which is expected to reduce the dependence on foreign currencies, especially the US dollar.&nbsp;
