The charge sheet mostly included data that the agency had obtained from the UK, Mauritius, and Switzerland. The charge sheet made reference to a letter from CBH (Compagnie Bancaire Helvétique) Bank, a Swiss bank where Mallya maintained accounts, in which bank officials estimated Mallya's net worth to be about $1 billion (around 7,500 crore in August 2017).</p>

The four convicts in Nirbhaya case&nbsp;were the last persons to be executed in India.</p>

<p>On March 21, a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said, "We will look at two perspectives: first, is there any alternative method, far more consistent with human dignity, to render 'hanging by the neck' unconstitutional; and second, even if there is no alternative method, does 'hanging by the neck' method satisfy the test of proportionality so as to render it valid, an issue that was not addressed in the Deena judgement at all."</p>

<p>The court also ruled out shooting by firing squad as an alternative to hanging till death method of capital punishment.</p>

<p>In alignment with India's ambitious goal to significantly accelerate the production of defence equipment indigenously, the defence export in the country as per latest data has crossed Rs 13000 crores or&nbsp;$1.5 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On 13 March, Minister of State for Defence in a written reply to Rajya Sabha member Tiruchi Siva said, the Indian government has given focus on indigenisation of various defence items to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The data states total defence export value stands at Rs. 13,399 crores as of 6 March, 2023. For 2021-22, the data stood at Rs. 12,815 crores while for 2020-21 it was Rs 8,435 crores.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India presently exports defence supplies to over 80 countries, name of those cannot be divulged due to strategic reasons, as per a government release.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In recent years, the Indian government has taken various steps to improve defence products and make them competitive globally.&nbsp;The push for Made-in-India equipments is a priority for Indian government as it strengthens and promotes the nation's self-reliance in the defence sector.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a separate press release, Indian government stated that India has reduced its dependency on defence imports. "The expenditure on defence procurement from foreign sources has reduced from 46% of overall expenditure in 2018-19 to 36.7% as per data till December 2022," it said.&nbsp;</p>

The internet blackout affecting 30 million people has been put in place as the&nbsp;police hunt for radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh. As per AFP, the blackout extension comes after a violent incident, where followers of the preacher vandalised the Indian consulate there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The internet outage, which was originally put in place until Monday noon local time, has been extended for another 24 hours.</p>

The telecommunications sector had a lesser variable pay-out percentage of 13.7 per cent, a little less than other sectors.</p>
