Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took up fitness challenge and shared a clip on his Twitter and Facebook page strengthening his muscles in the morning at his residence.&nbsp;

In a two-minute long video, PM Modi, wearing a black jogging dress, can be seen practising yoga asanas and other exercises.&nbsp;

The video shows him seen walking on a track created around a tree, doing stretching exercise and sitting on a rock for meditation.&nbsp;

He is also seen balancing himself while walking on a narrow, circular track.

In the tweet, the prime minister explained that his morning walk is inspired by the Panchtatvas or the five elements — Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu and Aakash.

In his message, the PM who always says yoga is key to good health said that he feels “extremely refreshing and rejuvenating” after morning exercise.

Modi also issued a challenge to Karnataka’s new chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, tennis player Monika Batra and “the entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40”.

Seventeen people died and 25 were injured after a bus hit a divider and crashed near Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh early Wednesday morning.&nbsp;

A number of people had been travelling on the roof of the bus.&nbsp;

The injured were rushed to hospital.&nbsp;

The bus, carrying 60-70 people, was coming from Jaipur in Rajasthan and heading towards Farrukhabad. The accident happened near Tirathpur village at around 5.30 am, Mainpuri Superintendent of Police Ajay Shankar Rai told PTI over the phone.

Sixteen people, including a woman, died on the spot while another person succumbed to his injuries at Saifai hospital, Rai said. Their identities were being ascertained.

Rai added that some of the injured were in critical condition.

That included the bus driver. Rai said doctors had had to amputate the driver's left leg.&nbsp;

It is not yet known what caused the accident although news reports said the driver had been speeding before the crash.&nbsp;

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced ex-gratia&nbsp;payments of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured.&nbsp;

Lashing out at Modi and the ruling party, Gandhi alleged that the prime minister and the BJP were attacking the Constitution and other institutions of the nation.

"It is the sentiment of the people and not just political parties which are opposed to the BJP, to have a 'mahagathbandhan' that can take on the BJP, the RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Gandhi told reporters here.

However, he remained silent when asked who would lead the grand alliance of the opposition parties.

"Prime Minister Modi and the BJP are attacking the Constitution and institutions of the nation," he alleged, saying the question faced by the people was how to stop this.

The Congress is trying to join together these voices and the work is going on, Gandhi said.

The 47-year-old Congress leader is on a two-day visit to Maharashtra since yesterday.

He said the opposition has been asking Modi to bring prices of petrol and diesel under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to provide relief to the common man, but "he is not interested."

"There was an attack on Mumbai (through demonetisation). There are small industries, traders here... the leather industry and the cloth industry are all here. They were attacked by the 'Gabbar Singh Tax' (implying the GST by drawing a reference to the celluloid bandit Gabbar Singh)," Gandhi said.

"The whole country is sad, small businessmen are sad because of demonetisation and we are fighting for them," he said. 
Gandhi said during the UPA government's rule, the crude price was USD 130 a barrel that has now come down to USD 70 a barrel.

"However, the benefit has not been passed on to the common man. Where does this money go? In the pockets of a handful of 15 to 20 rich people," he alleged.

Gandhi had yesterday accused the Modi government of creating hatred and division in the society and betraying farmers as well as youth in the country.

Addressing a convention of Mumbai booth-level Congress workers here last evening, he alleged that Modi was a "chowkidar" only for a handful of industrialists and not the common man.

He had also accused Modi of "humiliating" BJP veterans Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Jaswant Singh and their families, and alleged that it was his "way of protecting Indian culture".&nbsp

An alert by Varanasi airport Air Traffic Controller or ATC prevented two aircraft from coming on a collision course at the runway on Tuesday, following which one of the airlines grounded two of its pilots.

Two SpiceJet pilots operating a Varanasi to Hyderabad flight this morning were grounded, confirmed a spokesperson of the airline.

The incident occurred when an IndiGo aircraft with 178 passengers onboard was about to take off for Mumbai. The ATC had asked the SpiceJet flight to remain at the holding point till the IndiGo plane took off, airport sources said.

However, according to the SpiceJet spokesperson, the aircraft while taxing to the runway "inadvertently" crossed the runway holding point.

Noticing the incursion, the ATC immediately alerted the IndiGo plane, which aborted take off, the sources said.

The matter has been referred to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), IndiGo said.

"IndiGo aircraft VT-IHS operating 3175 (Varanasi -Mumbai) in spite of having ATC clearance had to abort the takeoff at a low speed because the aircraft of another carrier came on the runway. IndiGo cockpit crew followed standard operating procedures in compliance with the ATC instructions. IndiGo has voluntarily reported the matter to the DGCA," the airline said in a statement.

SpiceJet, in a statement, said, "On 12th June 2018, SpiceJet Boeing 737 800 aircraft &nbsp;VT-SGH was scheduled to operate SG-705 , sector Varanasi-Hyderabad. At Varanasi while taxing to the runway the aircraft inadvertently crossed the runway holding point."

As many as 32 out of the 50 students of the Indian Army's Kashmir Super-50 free engineering coaching institute in Srinagar have cracked this year’s IIT-JEE (Advanced), the results of which were announced on Sunday.

The outgoing batch is the fifth batch of Kashmir Super 50 which had 45 boys based in Srinagar and five girl students based in Noida. &nbsp;

Out of which this year, 32 students (30 boys and 02 girls) have cleared IIT-JEE Mains and seven students have cleared IIT-JEE Advance.

Project 'Kashmir Super 50' has been one of the most successful projects undertaken by the Indian Army in the valley and has directly impacted the lives of a number of youths in J&K by providing them with the right guidance and opportunity to make a career for themselves.

As many as 32 out of the 50 students of the Indian Army's Kashmir Super-50 free engineering coaching institute in Srinagar have cracked this year’s IIT-JEE (Advanced), the results of which were announced on Sunday. The outgoing batch is the fifth batch of Kashmir Super 50 which had 45 boys based in Srinagar and five girl students based in Noida. Out of which this year, 32 students (30 boys and 02 girls) have cleared IIT-JEE Mains and seven students have cleared IIT-JEE Advance. Project 'Kashmir Super 50' has been one of the most successful projects undertaken by the Indian Army in the valley and has directly impacted the lives of a number of youths in J&K by providing them with the right guidance and opportunity to make a career for themselves. In the wake of Ramzan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N&nbsp;Chandrababu Naidu suggested NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar to postpone the governing council meeting.

In a letter, Naidu recommended Kumar to push the meeting by two days, so that he would be available on Ramzan to meet the Muslim population of the state.

The meeting was scheduled to be held on June 16. However, on account of the Muslim festival, Naidu suggested that the meeting be postponed to June 18 or June 17 at noon.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to file a fresh charge sheet against former finance minister P Chidambaram‘s son Karti Chidambaram in connection with the latter’s alleged involvement in the Aircel-Maxis Case.

Talking to ANI on the issue, BJP senior leader, Subramanian Swamy said that the charge sheet should have been filed much earlier, but due to some officers in the ED who were trying to help Chidambaram, the process got delayed. He said, “This should have been done much earlier but few officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation were helping Chidambaram, even a few ministers were helping him, but now the Prime Minister has stopped all these. The CBI and the ED have been asked not to entertain any interference from anyone and take their own decisions.”

“After the charge sheet will be filed against Karti, another will be issued against Chidambaram. Chidambaram will again have to appear before the ED, he keeps on lying but gets caught.” P. Chidambaram’s son Karti was arrested on February 28 at the Chennai airport upon his return from the United Kingdom, for his alleged role in the case. Currently, Karti is on bail too. He allegedly took service charges for getting the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving funds from abroad worth Rs 305 crore in 2007 when his father was the finance minister.

The Aircel-Maxis deal case, which emerged out of 2G spectrum cases, pertains to a grant by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to firm M/S Global Communication Holding Services Ltd for investment in Aircel. Aircel-Maxis case: ED likely to file fresh charge sheet against Karti Chidambaram

A UK judge has ordered the declassification of documents that are expected to shed further light on Britain's involvement in Operation Blue Star in 1984, dismissing the British government's argument that the move could damage diplomatic ties with India.

Judge Murray Shanks, who presided over a three-day hearing of the First Tier Tribunal (Information Rights) in London in March, ruled yesterday that a majority of the files relating to the period must be made public and rejected the UK government's argument that declassifying the Downing Street papers would damage diplomatic ties with India.

The judge, however, did accept that one file marked "India: Political", from the UK's Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), could contain information that relates to British spy agencies MI5, MI6 and GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) and therefore the Cabinet Office was entitled to rely on a technicality that exempts such material from the Freedom of Information (FOI) request appeal.

"We recognise that the period we are concerned with was a highly sensitive one in India's recent history and the strength of feeling it continues to evoke... it should also be remembered that the fact that 30 years has gone by is bound to have reduced any prejudice that may have resulted from release of the withheld material," the judgment notes.

The FOI appeal was handled by KRW Law on behalf of freelance journalist Phil Miller, who has been investigating the exact nature of the then Margaret Thatcher led government's assistance to the Indian Army operation on Golden Temple in Amritsar.

In 2014, UK government documents declassified under the 30-year rule to make such material public had revealed that British military advice was given to Indian forces prior to Operation Blue Star.

Then British Prime Minister David Cameron had ordered a review into this discovery, named as the Heywood Review, which led to a statement in Parliament declaring that Britain's role had been purely "advisory" and the advice provided by the country's Special Air Service (SAS) had "limited impact in practice".

But Miller, the author of 'Sacrificing Sikhs: The need for an investigation' report released last year, says only "full transparency" would reveal the exact nature of Britain's involvement.

"After nearly four years of asking for disclosure of these files, it is a great victory for a judge to rule that more transparency would not harm diplomatic ties or risk national security," said Miller, who is disappointed that one file has been left out due to a "loophole" relating to the country's intelligence agencies.

"It is no wonder that many in the Sikh community are calling for a public inquiry, as only that would have the power to disclose all relevant material," he added.

The files that must now be released in full include papers on UK-India relations from 1983 to 1985 - &nbspcovering a meeting between Thatcher and Indira Gandhi's advisor, LK Jha, the situation in Punjab, Sikh activities and the assassination of Mrs Gandhi in October 1984.

Judge Shanks dismissed the UK government's claim that declassifying these papers would harm relations with India and said "it is worth noting that we have heard no evidence of any adverse reaction from the Indian government resulting from the events of January and February 2014", referring to the Heywood Review.

The UK Cabinet Office has been given time until July 11 to appeal against the First Tier Tribunal's decision. Alternatively, it must make the relevant documents available to Miller for his research by July 12.

The Cabinet Office said it would be issue its response in due course.

With commuting to work becoming a major concern for professionals due to clogged roads and lack of public transport, a survey has revealed that most Indians (78 per cent) desire a shorter commute time, with 26 per cent even willing to take a pay cut for the same.

This sentiment of desiring a shorter commute was the highest in India amongst 11 countries globally, according to the survey by professional networking firm LinkedIn.

While almost half of the Indians (48 per cent) said that their commute time has increased in the past one year, around 60 per cent felt their city transportation systems frequently get them late to office, both the factors being highest amongst the countries surveyed.

"The daily commute is a pain-point for most professionals in India. Lack of access to essential information pertaining to skills, referrals, job applications and commute time, can often be a roadblock to finding new opportunities," said Deepa Sapatnekar, head of communications for India, LinkedIn.

Around 47 per cent of the Indians felt more productive at work with a shorter commute time, and 48 per cent preferred a shorter commute so that they don't get tired.

However, almost half of them (42 per cent) said they would be willing to consider longer commute if it meant an increase of more than 20 per cent in their income.

Further, the survey revealed that 33 per cent would opt for a longer commute if given transportation, a promotion, or title increase.

While 40 per cent said they can travel far off for the right job, 31 per cent felt they could compromise on shorter commute if they worked for a brand they admired.

The survey revealed that with the time saved from commuting, 36 per cent like to utilise it for exercising, health and fitness.

The survey represents opinions of LinkedIn's working professionals on their commute in 11 countries across the globe, including India.

Boeing and Indian partner Tata have begun to produce Apache fuselages at a plant in India, but Tuesday's approval concerns a direct sale of finished products from US manufacturers.

In addition to aircraft, the contract includes night vision sensors, GPS guidance and hundreds of Hellfire anti-armor and Stinger air-to-air missiles.

"This support for the AH-64E will provide an increase in India's defensive capability to counter ground-armoured threats and modernize its armed forces," the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said, in a statement.&nbsp

"India will have no difficulty absorbing the helicopters and support equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region."
