"I think a conversation is always great. The much talked about masturbation scene in VDW has opened up a forum of conversation. There are all kinds, of course, like trolls, bad, ridiculous views, and some completely regressive perspectives but the fact is that suddenly we are talking about masturbation and let's say that that's a great thing. So for people out there who feel the concept only is blasphemous now are suddenly talking about it through a mainstream film. More power to those girls who accepted these roles and more power to the filmmaker who made this film. We are talking about this in an open forum suddenly," said the director.&nbsp;<br />

"There was a lot of criticism we got for 'Dostana' because of the stereotypical nature of certain representations and I do believe that a lot of criticism was justified. <p>Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday slammed the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over the bungalow furniture loot charge against him.</p>

<p>He claimed that the bungalow loot charges against him were motivated.</p>

<p>He also questioned as to why no inventory check was done when he was vacating the state residence.</p>

<p>Yadav fumed over the loot row and claimed the allegations baseless, saying he did not loot any furnishings from the government bungalow.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, he showed to media that he took with him the costly water- taps of jaguar company with him as they belonged to him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Yadav carried taps along with him to the press conference, saying he took them as they belonged to him.</p>

<p>He said that the UP government is free to take those taps back if they want to.</p>

<p>Kejirwal and his ministers had on Monday gone to meet LG Anil Baijal to ask him to get Delhi's IAS officers to call off their "strike".&nbsp;</p>

<p>They began their sit in when Baijal refused to meet them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Baijal however has said the IAS officers are not on strike and that there therefore is no reason for Kejriwal's protest.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Delhi's bureaucrats and Kejriwal have been at loggerheads ever since the city's chief secretary Anshu Prakash was allegedly assaulted by two AAP MLAs.&nbsp;</p>

Karnataka CM replies to PM Modi's fitness challenge, says 'more concerned about fitness of my state'

<p>Air quality in Delhi on Wednesday moved to the "sever" level following groud-level dust storm in the Western parts of India which have led to a massive increase in coarser particles in the air, the Central Pollution Control Board data showed.</p>

<p>The CPCB data showed that the PM10 (particles with diameter less than 10mm) level was beyond "severe" at 778 in Delhi-NCR area and 824 in Delhi particularly, leading to hazy conditions and limiting visibility.</p>

<p>The air quality hovered in the "moderate" category all last week and rose to "poor" on Monday. &nbsp;On Wednesday morning, air pollution monitoring agency AQICN reported that PM2.5 levels at RK Puram and Okhla Phase II at around 0800 hours were at 660 and 738, respectively. Rohini (838), Wazirpur (858), DTU (849) and Anand Vihar (812) were even worse. Most of the other stations reported readings ranging between 325 and 800.</p>

<p>Moreover, the severe dust storms in Rajasthan and Haryana have also led to many people facing breathing problems in these states due to the suspended dust.</p>

<p>Gufran Beig, a scientist at the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research institute, said the dust storm deteriorated the air quality in Delhi-NCR.</p>

<p>"There was a ground-level dust storm in the western part of the country that increased drastically coarser particles in the air, causing a spike in pollution levels in Delhi," he said.</p>

<p>But the air quality should improve later today, he said.</p>

<p>"Such dust storms accompanied by high-speed winds (30-40 kmph) do not last too long due to which the air quality will return to normal by this evening," Beig added.</p>

<p>An AQI between 0-50 is considered Good, 51-100 Satisfactory, 101-200 Moderate, 201-300 Poor, 301-400 Very Poor, and 401-500 Severe.</p>

Delhi air quality levels go beyond 'severe' due to dust storm

<p>Seeing the threat of rising terrorism in the country and making an effort to thwart communication between terrorists and their contacts in tempestuous areas, the government has turned its attention towards the cross-platform messaging application named WhatsApp. The home ministry is now investigating as to how it can block the WhatsApp calling service rendered by the application in order to prevent terrorist getting information from their sources.<br />
<br />
Officials in the Home Ministry said that many a time whenever there are cross borders firing, terrorists use the WhatsApp calling feature of the application and get in touch with their associates sitting across the border.<br />
<br />
This issue was discussed in a meeting held in the North Block chaired by the Union home Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Monday.<br />
<br />
"WhatsApp calling and messaging has now become the preferred medium of communication for anti-national forces and we are right now clueless about keeping a tab on it. We need a policy where, when it comes to national security, these apps will be forced to share information with the security agencies," an officer said.<br />
<br />
According to the officer, there has been a massive rise in end-to-end cipher using these applications. It means that even if the data traffic is intercepted, they face the challenge of breaking down the cipher to extract information.<br />
<br />
Officials in the security apparatus said that it important for the Telecom Ministry and the Home Ministry to formulate a policy under which multinational mediums like Whatsaap, whose headquarters is situated in a different country, come under the eyes of the Indian Laws.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />

Seeing the threat of rising terrorism in the country and making an effort to thwart communication between terrorists and their contacts in tempestuous areas, the government has turned its attention towards the cross-platform messaging application named WhatsApp. The home ministry is now investigating as to how it can block the WhatsApp calling service rendered by the application in order to prevent terrorist getting information from their sources. Officials in the Home Ministry said that many a time whenever there are cross borders firing, terrorists use the WhatsApp calling feature of the application and get in touch with their associates sitting across the border. This issue was discussed in a meeting held in the North Block chaired by the Union home Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Monday. "WhatsApp calling and messaging has now become the preferred medium of communication for anti-national forces and we are right now clueless about keeping a tab on it. We need a policy where, when it comes to national security, these apps will be forced to share information with the security agencies," an officer said. According to the officer, there has been a massive rise in end-to-end cipher using these applications. It means that even if the data traffic is intercepted, they face the challenge of breaking down the cipher to extract information. Officials in the security apparatus said that it important for the Telecom Ministry and the Home Ministry to formulate a policy under which multinational mediums like Whatsaap, whose headquarters is situated in a different country, come under the eyes of the Indian Laws. <p>Protests, backed by local politicians, have flared up in recent months against attempts to secure sections of a 108-km stretch, which is around one-fifth of the entire bullet train corridor connecting Mumbai with Ahmedabad, the largest commercial city in Modi's home state Gujarat.</p>

<p>"I've worked hard for three decades to develop this plantation, and they are asking me to hand over this land," sapota farmer Dashrat Purav, 62, said as he showed his orchard in the town of Palghar, a three-hour-drive north of Mumbai.</p>

<p>"I haven't worked hard to surrender land for the project. I did that for my children."</p>

<p>Purav said he would sell his land only if at least one of his two unemployed sons was promised a government job.</p>

<p>Protests against land acquisitions are common in&nbsp;India, where tens of millions of farmers till small holdings. A planned $44 billion refinery to be run by a consortium including Saudi Aramco, the world's biggest oil producer, is also struggling to secure land in Maharashtra.</p>

<p>"Land acquisition for any project is complex in&nbsp;India," said Dhananjay Kumar, spokesman for the National High-Speed Rail Corp Ltd (NHSRCL) that is overseeing the project. "Here also we are facing difficulty because of so much resistance."</p>

<p>Failure to procure the bullet train land by the deadline would delay disbursal of soft-loans by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a government development body, which is reviewing the project next month, said two senior officials with the state-run&nbsp;Indian Railways, declining to be named.</p>

<p>A JICA spokeswoman said that&nbsp;India&nbsp;must create&nbsp;relocation plans for local residents and make them public in order to enter into a loan agreement covering the main part of the bullet train project.</p>

<p>"It is possible that it takes time to sign a contract as&nbsp;India&nbsp;takes proper and careful measures in line with JICA's guidelines for environmental and social considerations," she said.</p>

<p>To assuage Japan's concerns,&nbsp;Indian officials have sought a meeting this month with transport ministry officials in Tokyo, one of the&nbsp;Indian officials said.&nbsp;India&nbsp;wants the project's completion target to be advanced by a year to 2022, the 75th year of&nbsp;India's independence.</p>

<p>A Japanese transport ministry official who deals with the bullet train project said that&nbsp;Indian officials had told them that "they can manage" the land acquisition.</p>

<p>"We will continue to work together with the&nbsp;Indian government to bring this project forward with an aim to start operation in 2023," the official said.</p>

<p><strong>'NOT INSURMOUNTABLE'</strong></p>

<p>Japan is majority-funding the train project through a 50-year loan. Japanese companies such as Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corp, JFE Holdings, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba Corp and Hitachi are likely to supply at least 70 per cent of the core components of the rail line, sources told Reuters in January.</p>

<p>Modi has called the project crucial for his pet "Make in&nbsp;India" campaign aimed at lifting the share of manufacturing in&nbsp;India's $2 trillion economy. The government also hopes to generate hundreds of jobs through the train project, and hence is pushing hard to finish it on time.</p>

<p>To sweeten the terms for people opposed to selling their land,&nbsp;Indian Railways has put its weight behind NHSRCL, pledging funds from its own welfare scheme to build schools and community halls, one of the officials said.</p>

<p>Ashwani Lohani, chairman of the&nbsp;Indian Railway Board, said the issues with farmers were not insurmountable.</p>

<p>The government has offered to buy land at a 25 per cent premium to the market value, the two government officials said. Farmers are also being offered resettlement dues of 500,000 rupees ($7,409) or 50 per cent of the land value, whichever is higher.</p>

<p>However, local political opposition in Palghar, ahead of a general election next year, has fanned the protests. Opponents say the bullet train is wasteful and the money would be better used upgrading the country's rickety rail infrastructure. Farmers have threatened a hunger strike.</p>

<p>Last week, farmers and local activists disrupted a public hearing conducted by NHSRCL, its second attempt to hold such an event in less than a month. The first one last month was also cut short by protests.</p>

In a frenzied address, he said Bapu had launched the Quit India movement during the British Raj likewise the AAP shall launch the 'LG Delhi Chodo' campaign in the BJP rule. kejriwal further said that in &nbsp;1947 India got freedom and all the British authorities were removed, but in Delhi, LG was appointed in place of the viceroys.</p>

<p>"We would ask people (during meetings) whether there should be people's rule or LG's rule in Delhi. LG creates hurdles in our every project, be it the CCTV project or doorstep delivery of ration," he had said.</p>

"I saw 'Sairat' with mom at home and I remember telling her 'I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it'. Me and mom had this big discussion on how she wanted a role like this for me and then you (Karan) called and it happened," Janhvi told reporters here.&nbsp<br />

When asked if she had received any tips from her, Janhvi, with a lump in her throat, said, "I definitely miss her today... The biggest and the most helpful tip is to work hard and feel every emotion."<br />

On whether her father, producer Boney Kapoor, gave her a piece of advice for her first film, the 21-year-old said, "He didn't give any tips but he has given me a lot of love and support, which is far more important."&nbsp<br />

<p>Kejriwal, accompanied by his deputy Manish Sisodia, AAP ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai had gone to meet Lt Governor Anil Baijal on the issue of IAS officers "strike" and doorstep ration delivery scheme last evening.</p>

<p>After the meeting ended around 6 pm yesterday, the chief minister said that he and his cabinet colleagues were going to stay in the waiting room of the L-G office as their demands were refused by Baijal.</p>

<p>Kejriwal has sought from Baijal his direction to IAS officers to end their strike, punishment to officers who struck work and approval to his government's doorstep ration delivery scheme.</p>

Lightning kills at least 8 in West Bengal

<p>Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti today strongly condemned the killing of two policemen in a pre-dawn terror attack at Pulwama.</p>

<p>In a statement, the chief minister termed the act as "highly reprehensible" as it was committed on a night when Muslims were seeking forgiveness from God, an official spokesman said.</p>

<p>Such incidents have the potential of depriving the people of the gains of peace moves like suspension of security operations and dialogue offer by the state and Centre, she said.</p>

<p>The chief minister asked the people to stand guard of the positivity generated by these peace moves on the ground which has given them ample relief and ease.</p>

<p>Mufti also conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved families of the slain policemen while praying for peace to the departed souls.</p>

<p>Former chief minister and opposition National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah also strongly condemned the attack.</p>

<p>A J&K Congress spokesperson described the killings as "dastardly and inhuman act".</p>

<p>The spokesperson said the killings deserved condemnation by every section of the society. He claimed the situation in the Valley had worsened due to wrong policies adopted by the state as well as the Centre.</p>

<p>Two policemen guarding the court complex in Pulwama district were killed today in a terror attack. Militants opened fire at a police picket guarding the district court complex in Pulwama town in the early hours,"&nbspa police spokesman said.</p>

<p>He said the policemen retaliated but were killed in the ensuing exchange of gunfire.</p>

Despite Kim threatening to call off the summit talks following the 'Max military drills'&nbsp;and Trump announcing to call off the event, citing "tremendous anger and open hostility" from North Korea as the reason, the historic summit finally culminated successfully.</p>

<p>A Special PMLA court issued a non-bailable warrant against billionaire businessman Nirav Modi on Tuesday. Indian billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, who figures at the centre of an alleged multi-crore bank fraud, has fled to the UK where he is claiming political asylum.</p>

<p>On Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation said that it does not have any confirmation on the whereabouts of Nirav yet.</p>

<p>Karnataka Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested a man in connection to the Gauri Lankesh murder case. Parshuram Wagmare, SIT's 6th arrest in the murder case, was caught in Vijayapura on Monday&nbsp;morning and was produced before the 3rd ACMM Court today.</p>

<p>Wagmare, who is suspected to be the shooter, has been taken into a 14-day police custody for further interrogation. The SIT has described the arrest as the biggest breakthrough in the murder case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On May 30, the Special Investigation Team, which is probing the murder case of social activist Gauri Lankesh, filed the first charge sheet of preliminary investigation before the third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 650-pages long charge sheet was filed nine months after the crime took place and contained statements of over 130 people including Naveen Kumar alias Hottey Manja -- mentioned as the prime accused -- &nbsp;and his friends.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the police have recovered Bhayyuji's suicide note and pistol.</p>

<p>"All aspects of the case are being investigated. Family members will also be questioned," Inspector General of Police (IGP) Makrand Deoskar said.</p>

<p>Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Harinarayanchari Mishra said that Bhayyuji had mentioned mental tension in the suicide note as the reason for his alleged suicide.</p>

<p>He further said the investigation for the cause of his death is underway.</p>

<p>"We have seized the suicide note. In the suicide note, he has mentioned mental tension, but the reason for the tension is not known as yet," DIG Mishra stated.</p>

<p>Bhayyuji, whose real name is Udaysingh Deshmukh, had a strong following in Maharashtra and was known to have political connections with the state leaders. He announced his retirement from public life in 2016.</p>

<p>He was associated with key leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress Party and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for a long time.</p>

<p>Bhayyuji earned national attention in 2011 when he had a dialogue with anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on the Lokpal Bill, when the latter was on an indefinite hunger strike and refused to discuss the bill with the Centre.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Daati Maharaj has been booked under Indian Penal Code, sections - 376, 377, 354 and 34.</p>

<p>The woman has alleged that she didn't file a complaint earlier as she felt intimidated by the self-styled godman. She also said she raped repeatedly even in Gurukul Ashwasan, Bal Gram, Sojat, Pali (Rajasthan).</p>

<p>On Monday, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal sought a police protection for the women.</p>

<p>Maliwal wrote a letter to the SHO of Fatehpur Beri police station, requesting him to look into the matter and provide immediate protection to the victim.</p>

<p>He further said that by link driving license with Aadhaar, a drunk driver would be caught easily if he/she manages to escape.</p>

<p>"I am in conversation with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to link Aadhaar card with (driving) licence, so that if a drunk driver escapes from one state to another by killing people, he would be caught. A person can change name not his/her fingerprints," Prasad said while addressing a press conference here.</p>

<p>Citing rules, he said that even "slowing down" work and not attending meetings called by ministers was a form of strike.</p>

<p>"Over a dozen show-cause notices and memos have been sent to the officers, but the situation is the same. They are shying away from openly admitting their strike because they will lose their jobs since rules do not permit it," he said.</p>

<p>Marlena said that government works including those related with education and pollution were hampered due to the strike.</p>
