At least 10 people were killed and 28 others injured after a deadly thunderstorm struck parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

Out of the 10 people, three died in Gonda, one in Faizabad and six in Sitapur.

The Meteorological Centre, Lucknow had earlier issued warnings of thunderstorm accompanied with squall, dust storm and rain in parts of Uttar Pradesh.

This comes after 15 people were reported dead and nine others injured after a thunderstorm hit various regions of the state on June 2.

The causalities were reported from Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Amroha, and Sambhal districts of the state.

Self-styled godman Daati Maharaj who has been accused of rape by a disciple has assured cooperation in the investigation.

Daati Maharaj said that the complainant was like his daughter and he would not blame her even if he is executed.

"I won't put any allegations on that girl because she was my daughter and will continue to be that. Even if I am hanged, I won't put allegations on her. If I have done anything wrong, then the legal authorities will look into that. I will fully cooperate in the investigation," he said.

Daati Maharaj's comment comes after the crime branch of the Delhi Police on Wednesday recorded the statement of the victim and initiated the process to issue a Lookout Circular against the self-styled godman. He will not be permitted to leave the country.

Daati Maharaj has been accused of raping a disciple inside Shani Dham two years ago.

The woman registered a case in Fatehpur Beri police station on Sunday. It was later transferred to the District Investigation Unit (DIU).

Daati Maharaj has been booked under Indian Penal Code, sections - 376, 377, 354 and 34.

The woman has alleged that she didn't file a complaint earlier as she felt intimidated by the self-styled godman. She also said she was raped repeatedly at Gurukul Ashwasan in Rajasthan's Bal Gram.

Around eight hectares of forest land was burnt to ashes by angry villagers in Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district after a leopard mauled to death a seven-year-old boy, the second such incident in three months, police said.

The attack took place on Monday evening when the boy had gone out of his home in Harinagri village to answer nature's call while his mother was in the kitchen, Chief Conservator of Forest BP Gupta told PTI.

The leopard dragged the boy inside the forest surrounding the house. The next morning, his half-eaten body was recovered by villagers 250 metres away, Gupta said.

"Angry villagers numbering around 4000-5000 set on fire eight hectares of van panchayat land in the village yesterday," Gupta, who is also the nodal officer for forest fires said quoting Bageshwar DFO RK Singh.

The fire could not be extinguished as irate villagers did not allow outsiders to enter the village, he said.

The villagers also blamed the same leopard for killing a four-year-old boy in the area in March this year.

"Since it was the second such incident in the area, the villagers may have burnt down the forest to clear the thickets and destroy the big cat's hideout to save themselves," the official said.

According to Gupta, the leopard has been declared a man-eater and an order to kill it has been issued, Gupta said.&nbsp;

In a statement today, the ministry said that the app will also enable issue and renewal of season and platform tickets, check and load R-wallet balance and help maintain user profile management and booking history.

The utsonmobile application developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) is available for both Android and Windows smartphones. Users can download this app from Google Play Store or Windows store free of cost.

"First the passenger will get registered by providing his/her mobile number, name, city, default booking train type, class, ticket type, number of passengers and frequently travelling routes. Upon successful registration, Railway Wallet (R-Wallet) will be created automatically with zero balance to the passenger. There will be no extra cost for creating R-Wallet," the statement said.

The R-Wallet can be recharged either at any of the UTS counter or through recharge option available in the<a href="https://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in"> https://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in</a> website.

No advance ticket booking is allowed since the app is only for unreserved tickets.

India is among almost 90 countries in the world without national policies in place that ensure new fathers get adequate paid time off with their newborn babies, according to a new UNICEF analysis.&nbsp

Almost two-third&nbspof the world's children under one-year-old, nearly 90 million, live in countries where their fathers are not entitled by law to a single day of paid paternity leave, the UNICEF analysis said.

India and Nigeria, which have high infant populations, are among the 92 countries do not have national policies in place that ensure new fathers get adequate paid time off with their newborn babies.&nbsp

The UN agency noted that around the world, momentum for family-friendly policies was growing. It cited the example of India, where officials are proposing a Paternity Benefit Bill for consideration in the next session of Parliament which would allow fathers up to three months of paid paternity leave.

Noting that much work remains to be done, UNICEF said in eight countries across the world, including the United States which is home to nearly four million infants, there was no paid maternity or paternity leave policy.

Other countries with high infant populations, including Brazil and Congo, all have national paid paternity leave policies, albeit offering relatively short-term entitlements.

"Positive and meaningful interaction with mothers and fathers from the very beginning helps shape children's brain growth and development for life, making them healthier and happier, and increasing their ability to learn. It's all of our responsibility to enable them to fill this role," UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore said.

Evidence suggests that when fathers bond with their babies from the beginning of life, they are more likely to play a more active role in the child's development. Research also suggests that when children positively interact with their fathers, they have better psychological health, self-esteem and life-satisfaction in the long-term, the UNICEF said.

UNICEF urged governments to implement national family-friendly policies that support early childhood development, including paid paternity leave, to help provide parents with the time, resources and information they need to care for their children.&nbsp

Earlier this year, UNICEF modernised its approach to parental leave provisions, with up to 16 weeks of paid leave for paternity across all of its offices worldwide&nbspthe first United Nations agency to extend such leave beyond the standard four weeks.

"We cannot be 'For Every Child', if we are not also 'For Every Parent'. We have to ask more of governments and more of employers if we're going to give fathers and mothers the time and resources they need to nurture their children, particularly during the earliest years of a child's life," Fore said.

The new analysis forms part of UNICEF's 'Super Dads' campaign, now in its second year, which aims to break down barriers preventing fathers from playing an active role in their young children's development.&nbsp

The campaign celebrates 'Father's Day'&nbsprecognised in more than 80 countries in June&nbspand focuses on the importance of love, play, protection and good nutrition for the healthy development of young children's brains.&nbsp

On Monday while addressing a media conference Kiran Maheshwari was asked to comment on Sarv Rajput Samaj Sangharsh Samiti is compaigning agianst the BJP to which she reportedly responded saying that, "Aise bhi log hai jo barsati choose hain, jo chunav aate he bilon se nikal aatein hain (There are people like rainy rats who come out of their holes during election time)."&nbsp

According to media reports, the Karni Sena after holding a meeting&nbspin Jaipur&nbspwarned Maheshwari to apologise for the statement immediately or will face dire consequences.

They also reportedly added that Maheshwari should have remembered the Deepika Padukone incident during the 'Padmaavat'&nbspcontroversy while making such remark.

However, Kiran Maheshwari later denied that she equated rats with Rajputs and&nbspclarified&nbspthat she was targetting Congress. She also added that her statement was twisted to incite the community.

The Karni Sena has also said that they hold women in high regard but will not tolerate any women insulting the community.

Meanwhile, Congress' Rajsthan chief Sachin Pilot also asked Maheshwari to apologise to the community for her offensive language.

Parrikar, 62, was undergoing a treatment for the pancreatic ailment in US since March.

Editor of the Rising Kashmir newspaper, Shujaat Bukhari, was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Bukhari was attacked in Press Colony in Srinagar from where he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

While one PSO of the editor is also killed in the attack, another PSO is critically injured.

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah&nbsp;reacted to the attack on Twitter. He tweeted, "I’m in complete shock. Hearing the worst but hoping for the best. @bukharishujaat please pull through this".

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also reacted to his death on Twitter. She wrote, "Shocked & deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Shujaat Bukhari. The scourge of terror has reared its ugly head on the eve of Eid. I strongly condemn this act of mindless violence & pray for his soul to rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family".

Terrorists kill 'Rising Kashmir' editor Shujaat Bukhari in J&K

A cloud of dust hung over vast swathes of north Indian plains for the third day today, prompting authorities to suspend civil construction works in Delhi and Haryana as part of emergency measures to improve air quality, besides affecting flight services at Chandigarh airport.

In Uttar Pradesh, dust storms have hit various parts, leaving 15 people dead and 28 injured, since Wednesday.

The air quality deteriorated because of dust storms in western India, particularly Rajasthan, which increased coarser particles in the air, the Central Pollution Control Board said.

The authorities have warned dusty conditions are likely to prevail for another 3-4 days and advised people to avoid staying outdoors for long hours.

Low visibility due to dusty weather conditions led to cancellations of all flights to and from Chandigarh International Airport.

"No flight landed or took off from Chandigarh (airport) until today afternoon due to bad weather," a Chandigarh International Airport Limited official said.

As the national capital region struggled with a "severe" dust pollution, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal ordered stoppage of all civil construction activities across Delhi till Sunday as part of emergency measures that also include intensifying mechanical road sweeping.

A thick blanket of haze has been enveloping Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) for the past few days.

The air quality in Delhi remained at "severe" level for the third straight day. According to the L-G office, civic bodies, public works department and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) have been directed to impose penalties on all road construction agencies for violating laid down norms for dust control measures.

The L-G tweeted that he held an emergency meeting in view of the "severe" dust pollution in Delhi with Environment Minister Imran Hussain and the officials concerned.

He said emergency measures such as stoppage of all civil construction activities till June 17 have been taken.

In a statement, the L-G office stated that the municipal corporations, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and sub-divisional magistrates would strictly enforce prohibition on open burning of garbage, plastics and leaves in the national capital.

"Municipal Corporations and PWD will intensify mechanical road sweepings, sprinkling of non-potable water at central verges and roadsides and stop brooming activity on main roads," it stated.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) director general and EPCA member Sunita Narain said that "severe plus" category has been imposed for dust pollution under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) with immediate effect till Sunday.

The EPCA's action plan, termed GRAP, has formulated five categories. These are severe plus or emergency, severe, very poor, moderate to poor and moderate.

The EPCA, a Supreme Court-appointed watchdog, had yesterday issued an advisory to chief secretaries of states in Delhi-NCR asking them to take "urgent steps" for controlling dust pollution.

Narain said, in pursuant to the advisory, a meeting was taken up by the chief secretary in Haryana late last night and they have also decided to shut down construction activities for that period with immediate effect.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has issued advisory that no construction activities be carried out for the next two days in districts of Haryana falling under National Capital Region.

The HSPCB has also advised that no hot mix plants and stone crushers be operated for the next two days.

"Delhi and NCR areas and other parts of Haryana have been experiencing a very severe air pollution due to dust storm with the PM 2.5 value crossing even 500g/m3 and considerably higher PM10 values," stated the HSPCB advisory.

A veil of dust spread over the plains of Uttarakhand for the second consecutive day today, reducing the harshness of the sun but adding to humidity levels.&nbsp

The MeT department said the haze resulted from strong winds, carrying coarser particles, blowing from Rajasthan and Punjab.&nbsp

Agra recorded the highest temperature of 44.9 degrees Celsius in the state.

The state was swept by three major dust storms last month that left over 130 people dead.

On May 13, 39 people died in various districts including Bareilly, Barabanki, Bulandshahr and Lakhimpur Kheri districts.

On May 9, a severe storm left 18 dead and 27 others injured. Five people died in Etawah district, three each in Mathura, Aligarh and Agra, two in Firozabad and one each in Hathras and Kanpur Dehat.

Thunderstorms and lightning on May 2-3 left 80 dead in the state, most of them in Agra district.

Another deadly dust storm hit the state in the first week of June leaving 17 dead and 11 others injured. Most of the deaths were caused due to falling of trees and house collapse.

Moradabad bore the brunt of the storm, with as many as seven deaths reported from the district, followed by three deaths from Sambhal.

Dust storms in UP claim 15 lives, leave 28 injured

Former Union minister P Chidambaram's son Karti controlled two firms which allegedly received Rs. 1.16 crore as bribe money in the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday said in its charge sheet filed before a Delhi court.

Though the name of P Chidambaram, who was also questioned recently by the CBI and the ED in the INX media and the Aircel-Maxis money laundering cases respectively, was mentioned in the charge sheet, the Congress veteran has not been arrayed as an accused in the probe report which would now be considered by the court on July 4.

The ED filed the charge sheet before Additional Sessions Judge Ruby Alka Gupta for consideration and subsequent issuance of summons to the accused including Karti.

Reacting to the filing of the charge sheet, which is called prosecution complaint in official parlance, P Chidambaram said that it would be "vigorously contested" before the special court.

"The complaint filed by ED against Karti Chidambaram and others is seriously flawed. Since the matter is in Court, I shall not make a public comment. The complaint will be vigorously contested before the Special Court," the former minister tweeted.

The ED probe report said the payments of Rs. 26 lakh to Advantage Strategic Consultancies Private Limited (ASCPL) and Rs. 90 lakh to Chess Management Services Pvt Limited (CMSPL) respectively were made as alleged bribe money by parent company of Aircel Ltd, namely Aircel Televentures Ltd (ATVL) and Maxis and its associate Malaysian companies respectively.

Referring to contents of the charge sheet, special public prosecutors Nitesh Rana and NK Matta said that Karti Chidambaram was controlling ASCPL and CMSPL, the alleged beneficiaries of bribe amount of Rs. 1.16 crore, and Karti Chidambaram was trying to project this as untainted money.

The probe agency also made clear that it may file supplementary charge sheets in the case which apparently keeps open the chances of arraying more persons as accused.

Apart from Karti Chidambaram, the agency has also named ASCPL and its directors Padma Bhaskararamana and Ravi Viswanathan, and CMSPL and its director Annamalai Palaniappa in the charge sheet under section 4 (punishment for money laundering) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

"Investigation carried out under the PMLA so far as revealed that Karti P Chidambaram is linked with individuals and companies involved in financial transaction and companies holding such companies as per diagram...

"Investigation has revealed that ASCPL and CMSPL are controlled and owned by Karti Chidambaram and his close associate S Bhaskararaman. The investigation has further revealed that ASCPL received money from ATVL, parent company of Aircel Ltd., in close proximity to receipt to FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board)," the charge sheet, filed through advocate AR Aditya, said.

It alleged that Karti Chidambaram received Rs. 26 lakh from ATVL in ASCPL, on April 11, 2006, immediately after the approval under the head of payment of consultancy services, it said.

"Similarly CMSPL received an amount of approximately USD 2,02,447 between period 2007-11 against invoices raised between 2007-09. The payments were received from Maxis and its associates in the guise of charges for a software which was designed for use by an Indian company and could not at all of any use by a Malaysian company," it said.

The ED had registered the case under the sections of PMLA on February 7, 2012 on basis of an FIR registered by the CBI.

It said that during the investigation it was found that ASCPL was already in a financial transaction with the other companies namely Chess Healthcare Care Solutions Pvt LTD, M/s Chess Management Services Pvt LTD (CMSPL) and M/s Halidon Marketing Pvt LTD since the financial year 2005-06.

The agency said that a total of Rs. 1.16 crore allegedly belonging to Karti Chidambaram has already been attached by it so far.

The agency mentioned that the former Union minister's son has been linked with various individuals and companies involved in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval given to the Aircel-Maxis deal.

&nbsp;It also alleged that Karti Chidambaram was in the process of alienating the property involved in the money laundering in order to frustrate the proceedings under PMLA.

The agency told the court that it might file a supplementary charge sheet in the case.

The court has already granted interim protection from arrest till July 10 to Karti Chidambaram in two cases filed by the CBI and the ED in 2011 and 2012, respectively in the Aircel-Maxis matter arising out of 2G spectrum cases, while his anticipatory bail plea is pending before the court.

Though the name of P Chidambaram, who was also questioned recently by the CBI and the ED in the INX media and the Aircel-Maxis money laundering cases respectively, was mentioned in the charge sheet, the Congress veteran has not been arrayed as an accused in the probe report which would now be considered by the court on July 4. Reacting to the filing of the charge sheet, which is called prosecution complaint in official parlance, P Chidambaram said that it would be "vigorously contested" before the special court. The complaint will be vigorously contested before the Special Court," the former minister tweeted. A senior Indian official told newswire PTI <a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/cbi-requests-interpol-for-red-corner-notice-against-nirav-modis-brother-nishal--company-executive-suresh-shankar-144177">that India has been informed by the UK's</a> Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) that it can initiate extradition proceedings against fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi who allegedly defrauded Punjab National Bank(PNB) of $2 billion.

India's investigative agency the<a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/nirav-modi-travelling-in-brussels-on-singapore-passport-sources-144248"> Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) had</a> requested the Interpol on Thursday to issue a Red Corner Notice against Nirav Modi's brother Nishal and his company executive Suresh Shankar.

The CBI has now begun the process of filing an extradition request for Modi, which will have to be approved by the UK Home Office following which an extradition warrant can be issued.

The UK government was earlier informed by the Indian authorities&nbspthat Nirav Modi's passport was revoked, the UK authorities, in turn, informed that the diamond billionaire had already entered the country but hadn't exited.

"If he has ILR in the UK, he would have to be extradited. However, if that is not the case, he can be deported on the basis of illegally travelling to Britain using fraudulent travel documentation. We are pursuing both these lines," a senior Indian official told PTI.

Reports had earlier said that Nirav Modi was in the process of applying for political asylum in the UK which could delay the extradition process. Earlier reports said that Nirav Modi had fled to Brussels from London but it could not be confirmed.

The Enforcement Directorate had issued a non-bailable warrant against Nirav Modi and his associates last month.&nbsp
